Honestly though, I think Personal Pony sounds a lot more offensive than Stalker lol, like “Hey, I’ll be your pony, baby….”

And I don’t consider stalker offensive at all, maybe you killed someone in pvp n they reported you?

This basically, a friend had two of his characters’ names changed because he upset a group of exploit farmers by completing an event properly. The day after dozens of threats of “mass reports” he was forced to change two of his characters’ names.

It seems clear that either Anet:

a) bow to community pressure and ignore their own rules
b) only follow their own rules sporadically, i.e some people get punished and others don’t
c) hold grudges against certain individuals or hold biases

One of the above is true, if not all. Honestly, the way the game is policed is absolutely abysmal.

Except ArenaNet don’t make moderator decisions based on ‘mass reports’. They will act on a case by case basis, whether the user has been reported once, or 1,000 times. If someone’s name was against the rules, they would have been forced to change the name even if it was just one report.

That’s just what they say, though, isn’kitten Lots of people have had experiences that would indicate they do make decisions based on mass reports.

They also said recently (or rather “Proheals” did) that they would barely be changing anyone’s name now, no matter how offensive. Yet they changed the OP’s name which isn’t even remotely offensive. LOL!

Out of curiosity, what were you going for?

Well i tried many names, characters from books i read with cool names

Stop right there. That’s your problem right off the bat.

This is an MMO – a massive multiplayer online game (millions of copies have sold worldwide). There will be people who have taken the name from your favourite book/movie/tv show series, and yes there will also be people who have rip-offs of the name too. Misspellings, accents, you name it.

Solution – be creative and original with your names instead of using something that about a thousand other people will have thought of as well. This game has been out for almost 3 years. Of course that character’s name will be taken.

~~~
As to having apostrophes and lower case middle names (like Vincent van Gogh or Mippa the Grand, for instance), I do agree we should be given these as options.
The real problem here is that names aren’t server specific, like in proper MMOs.
Engaging in PvP match manipulation, disrupting a PvP match by not actively playing in good faith, or any other form of PvP griefing, exploitation, or abus.e
No other mention apart from PvP.
WvW is PvP… it doesn’t say “sPvP” does it?
Again, it’s about being well read into the ToS – how exactly is organizing ktrains for all 3 sides manipulating a match outcome? You’re doing yourself no favors by throwing out contrivances against these people.
You must be trolling…
Banbot should be reported for impersonating a staff member.
As far as your situation goes, OP – don’t worry; even if you were running a “rigged” EotM match, it’s not against the ToS. People who say it’s against the ToS aren’t very well read on the ToS.
Who did he/she impersonate?
I think you should read the ToS yourself, since you seem to be unaware that it IS against the rules to fix matches.
We’re not talking about two sides ganging up on the third team, this is a guild attempting to control all three sides at once to avoid fighting and/or farm each other… and harassing people who don’t want to fix matches like they do.
1. called “ban” bot.
2. has said “we’ve received reports.”
3.“we will be forced to investigate”
4. “we will be forced to take action against your account”
Combined, all of these are impersonating statements. Only ANet is capable of taking action against an account.
However, that’s not up to us to decide. Support needs to know.
Take action = report the OP to ANet for match manipulation.
“Impersonating statements” really? Impersonating someone = pretending to be them, e.g making a character called “Arena Net Staff” or saying “Hello, I am Jeff from Arena Net.” If someone chooses to infer something from something someone else says, that’s their problem. I’m guessing the OP inferred “we” to mean “Arena Net” because he’s broken the rules and is afraid of being caught. If he was innocent, he wouldn’t have made this thread, he’d have just replied “lol” or something.
Use of the word “we” implies ANet; hence implied impersonation.
Actually, I was talking about my guild, hence the “we” – I guess he must be paranoid because he’s actually guilty of match fixing and bag farming.
hello, i’ll start to the point, i was running eotm(overflow) as frostreach, my zerg was lead by someone nick named kimberly blabla, after she capped tytone she was asking for another tag to replace, because of no one tagged up i decided to tag up and lead my zerg to statuary then to eastern altar gate( i decided that because i see orange sword at BL keep, or let me say OG was there) and when my zerg was ramming the gate the OG zerg not finished their job at BL keep but they just run toward my zerg and wiped my zerg, and after that when i was about to continue my run from FR zone i got whispered by someone(maybe gw2 staff) he has name ‘Banbot’ he said that i was reported for doing a setuped match there…
my fact :
- im not in any voice chat
- my guild tag the time i represent was only me as a member( this is my private tag )
- im grouping with random FR dudes
- im not whispering anyone while im tagging up that time
thank you for that random dude who reported me,
i hope if that ‘Banbot’ guy is real staff and i’m not guilty the one that reported me should punished
Disingenuous post is disingenuous. This would never be released in this game. However asking for it to be released highlights the farmer problem that exists in this game. Farmers are not better than other people. They’re not more entitled than other people. And they don’t get to decide how to play the game.
Events were made by Anet to be completed. If you decide you want to farm them, and no one else shows up who wants to complete them all well and good.
But the second someone shows up who wants to play the game as intended,. and you try to stop them, you’re the troll.
You should see what they’ve been doing to try and stop a certain event in Cursed Shore from being completed by players.
Their tactics include: standing next to the capture circle to scale up all the monsters, or even rounding up monsters and pulling them into the circle to try and wipe the defenders. Then – and this is the best part – these people call the defenders “trolls” or “griefers” – I mean, really?
…and 300g is a drop in a the bucket for large WvW guilds. I have more than 300g in my account now, and I’m in a tiny RP guild. It’s really not much if you prioritize it, it’s only an obscene pay-wall if it wasn’t that important to you in the first place (which means you shouldn’t have it).
Is warrior really that simple?
in Warrior
Posted by: unicorngirl.1487
unicorngirl.1487
From a pvp perspective, just play whatever class that appeals to you. As multi class user, I played warrior since beta and that’s just who I am. I can play any other class but I always go back to it. As for it being more simple? It all depends on your opponents really. I find playing ele, engi, theif or Mesmer really easy as well even though they are considered the “high skill cap classes”. It’s all just a different play style really. More buttons doesn’t mean more skill in my opinion.
Its not the buttons but the passive mechanics.
Elementalist is the highest skillcap because the defenses come from active play and the damage is hard to land. You can’t spam autoattacks and AoE on ele.
Second one is thief, assuming we are talking about spvp meta builds and not some random trash with 30 pts in shadow arts. Basically thief is extremely squishy and can’t take many hits.
Engi and mesmer come close but they have a lot of passive damage from the AI or AoE spam.
The other classes are easy because they have either a lot of passive defenses or passive damage or even both > spirit ranger , MM necro…
So it’s not the buttons.
“Random trash with 30 points in shadow arts” seriously?
I’d say the guy running around in WvW as a full zerker thief with no points in SA is the bigger noob.
No it’s very unfortunate that some individuals resort to verbal abuse. But don’t let a few people skew your view of an entire map. There are 75 people on a map, if 5 of them are being jerks that doesn’t in any way give someone the right to ruin things for the other 70 people.
The reporting I saw last night was on the wake of someone Named very well for this thread continually training groups with adds quite intentionally griefing. Normally I assume someone training adds is just someone being unaware of what they were doing, in which case I offer to teach them how to get to bosses without bringing adds. But in this case their name made it quite clear what their intentions were.
Hiding, it’s simply “i’m taking my ball and going home” for a round. Childish, maybe, but when you deal with uncooperative people sometimes walking away is your only civil option. Like I said before, I personally wish this were the good old school PVP where I could beat them into submission, but it’s not, so being civil is all that’s really left.
Again though, the guild in question has rules, if you tell people to alt f4, you’re treated the same as someone griefing and slapped with a TS ban if they can identify you, and put on their “do not taxi” list. They try to maintain a level of respect, but again there are 75 people per map, and no matter how much they wish people would just be civil with one another, there is no way to force that. They ask nicely for people to just be quiet, if someone does start speaking up in map chat the people actually leading it kindly ask them to be quiet in TS. But 50+ people on average is a lot of cats to herd, that’s why personally I’m so happy these folks are willing to do it, and why I’m thankful to them and feel it’s only fair that the other side of the story be said as well.
At this point I don’t believe the griefers will stop, I don’t believe they have any grasp of ethical behavior. The fact that some of them act as if they are on some moral high ground is just laughable. SO I’ve said what i wanted to say, and you can take it or leave it. I’d invite you to actually join one of the teamspeaks and get involved in that community and judge for yourself instead of taking the word of someone who’s been questioned here as simply fact.
Somebody in your TS said they wanted to go to my house and “beat the **** out of me” last night. I’ve also had members of your guild spamming me with group invites, abuse and threats.
That’s why I’m “taking the moral high ground” – I’m doing nothing wrong, but you guys are breaking various rules repeatedly, just because someone is playing the game in a different way to you.
Most of you will be aware that certain guilds organize to run gold boss blitz events. You may also be aware that people can be “taxied” into a map by their friends, or by random players who may charge for the privilege.
This is where things started to go wrong. Certain guilds are attempting to drive players out of maps in order to get all of their friends in. They do this in several ways:
Firstly, they’ll let the event fail deliberately. They’ll do this by suddenly disappearing from the bosses, making sure several groups suddenly don’t have enough coverage.
Then they’ll stand in certain parts of the map (e.g on top of the burning tower by Sparcus or the pirate ship where Wiggin spawns). This serves two purposes: it hides them from the view of most people, who think they’ve left. It also upscales the boss they’re standing above.
If people stay in the map, the offenders will then troll mapchat, either by lying “hell with this im leaving” or being offensive to those who remain.
As a last resort, they’ll try to get everybody to REPORT innocent players who just happen to be in their map. The level of abuse rises (I witnessed some really nasty stuff directed at people who were just minding their own business) in an attempt to drive away those “evil PUGs”.
I can’t print some of the things they’ve said here. Obviously I’ve reported these people in the game, but I wanted to make sure the community is aware of this in general.
I’ve already had 4 separate people whispering me telling me they’re quitting the game because of the abuse levelled at them by one particular guild employing these tactics. I’m sure they aren’t the only ones. And for what? So they can farm a (somewhat easy, let’s be honest) open world zone in which all players are supposedly welcome?
If Anet didn’t want “uplevels” to go to the Crown Pavilion, they wouldn’t have scaled people to 80. If Anet wanted guilds to monopolize CP instances, they would have created guild instances, or a similar function.
I just hope more people don’t leave over this, and I hope that these guilds are held accountable for their actions.
There is now a Bladeshard vendor in the event areas, you can buy masterwork loot boxes with it. All it has done is made anyone who has a few stacks of shards into the biggest crybabies i’ve ever seen. All i’ve seen today is “I thought it was supposed to be something valuable.”
You got something valuable, an ascended back item, one of the best looking ones in the game, yet some people still expect more from an old event item. Meanwhile people like me who picked up the game at the very end of Scarlett’s living world story just today unlocked the Watchwork Node that lets you collect the sprockets and shards to make our own blade packs.
Rant aside, Arenanet didn’t forget, but everyone keeps whining that they don’t get more out of an item that you don’t really need anymore.
Erm, maybe because many people had thousands upon thousands of these useless shards, and all they can be traded for now is junk? We should be able to trade a stack of 250 for 250 festival tokens, at the least.
How do you know they are farming bloodlust stomps? Seems like a big jump to make considering the possible score contribution is really small.
They could just be guildies who want to kill eachother and are in a cross-server guild. Or some of them transferred a while back and now are fighting for fun.
And as to them jumping you with the help of their guildie, you are kinda out of luck. For all you know they were coming to kill the friendly version and you were in their way.
Not everyone cheats. So stop assuming people are out to get you.
Why do people DEFEND this kind of behaviour?
In other MMOs like DAOC or WAR these people would have their accounts terminated. In GW2 people stick up for xrealmers?
this thread even funnier than the previous one.
most people come to EOTM to level alts / farm WXP – this is just a simple fact.
1. the fastest way of grinding WXP is to flip objectives. Even for OG – you can kill FR/BL 2-3 times and they stop dropping WXP for you. Let em flip your corner, port back and you get kitten load of WXP right at your waypoint
2. guilds who “farm bags” just bring their names into discredit. its quite obvious that pug zerg without comms can do nothing about semi-pug zerg with comms even on even numbers. people who do that might be just mad cause of season place #4 (hi BG!) or smth else. go do GvG if you want “fights”
3. while EOTM might be good for farming kills for Ultimate Dominator most pugs are already familiar with what guild groups hunting them down can do – so they just leave map after a few wipes. New pugs join to produce new bags
Sounds like somebody got farmed in EOTM.
As I’ve said in my initial post, some people like karmatraining, EOTM is the best place to do that, group wiping karmatrains in EOTM is actually a lot more pathetic than the karmatrain itself.. I never understood this attitude of getting joy out of ruining other peoples’ plan with no gain to you.
EotM is not WvW proper. Why is it on the WvW tab? Because it’s related to it more than to PvP or PvE. Just like Obsidian Sanctum is, and that is not WvW proper, either. Think a bit before posting, will you?
People karma train in EotM because it is rewarding and anything else is pointless. This was intended as such because it removes players from other, more important, areas where they were damaging the game (Queensdale champ trains being bad for new players and WvW farmers and uplevels being extremly bad for WvW).
If you and your guild participate/lead defense activities in EotM, then I am sorry, but everyone who is whispering you telling you all sorts of nasty stuff is right. Not to mention that beating up cripples (aka uplevels, like most ktrainers are) is not only not worth bragging about, but quite shameful. It also teaches you nothing. You think it will be the same when doing WvW proper against serious opponents? Man, I would want to see the look on your face when you and your heroic guild go there with this attitude.)
On a side note, if you do not care for PvE and want to level faster, either do PvP for some loot and the Tomes of Knowledge (one level each) from the tracks, or (oh, the irony!) do EotM karmatrain for quick levels and WXP. But could you do the latter? I mean, doesn’t it fall short of your “code”?…
Just because you’re playing the game wrong, it doesn’t mean we all should.
I’ll laugh so much when Anet decide to do something about EOTM Ktrains. In the meantime my guild leader says he’s going to start messing with the Ktrain on a daily basis and record it for our amusement… should be fun!
"Ktrain" PvErs in EOTM
Hiya. I’m relatively new to the game, and so I wanted to learn how to WvW in a more forgiving atmosphere. A guild member pointed me towards Edge of the Mists.
Unfortunately, when I got there I found:
  • Lots of players are rude, abusive or unpleasant to anybody who wants to fight other players
  • Most commanders seem more concerned with capturing empty towers and avoiding the enemy at all costs than defending anything we own
  • The players who play this way tell me (and others) that THIS IS EOTM, THIS IS KTRAIN, GTFO
My guild members tell me that the game used to be better before “champ trains” and that it’s something that started in Queensdale and has spread. Now, I don’t much care for the Queensdale champ train – I don’t think it teaches anyone how to play – but I’m very disappointed that this auto-attack zerging behavior has spread to a PvP area.
A few nights ago a guild on my server (or what used to be my server) led an event in Edge of the Mists. Lots of people defended the keeps and fought other players and it was FUN. Other times, people have played like this and yes, it’s FUN.
When I ask for help defending a keep though, most times someone sends me a message saying “erm this eotm we dont defend here, noob” or something similar. When I tell them that I enjoy it, I’m met with “LOL good luck getting no loot” or just insults. Now I don’t really care for loot. I play games to have fun. I mean, isn’t that the point?
Another thing I get told all the time is that “EOTM isn’t proper WvW”. Well, darn. Why is it on the WvW screen then? I’ve heard players in the other WvW zones get angry with low-level players and tell them they shouldn’t be there. So where are we supposed to go to PvP? I don’t want to damage my team, but I want to learn how to play in WvW before I reach maximum level, and I really don’t like PvE.
I’m sure some guys out there have a solution for this, like lowering karma rewards or increasing defensive rewards, but really I think the problem lies with players being too entitled and just expecting rewards for running in circles. Well, if they want to do that, whatever, but why do they have to ruin it for those of us who play the game to have fun and actually want to fight other players in an environment which allows it?
Seriously guys, what did you expect? Getting a full arah set for 10 hours of casual pvp’ing?
Getting that in PvE takes 1380 tokens. You get 60 per run per path once a day, else it’s 20. Running one path can take anything from 1-4 hours, depending on the path and how routinized you are.
So we’re talking 23 multi-hour runs of the hardest dungeon in the game, that you guys want to substitute with 10 hours of pvp?
I know whining and feeling disadvantaged is natural behavior for many pvp-’ers, but gimme a break.
It takes a lot longer to get the end of track “reward” unless you’re running tournaments with an organised team. One piece of armour for that amount of time and effort is not acceptable.
