There’s an assumption in your post that there is a “way” to play a dire mesmer, and this isn’kitten
But…you don’t supply any alternative, or reason that this is the case? The last video you posted was before chrono release, so I’m not sure how I can place any stock in your assertion based on your history, so I have to rely on the things you say.

So…what makes your declaration any different from any of the unfounded bullkitten that we hear from random warriors and thieves that cross through the forums looking for a fight?

Furthermore, Ross isn’t proposing some superior approach, he’s posting a build that he’s been trying and having success with. I mean, he’s explicitly going out of his way to try something different, and that’s all the post is.

If he’s having success with that, what grounds do you have to say that it doesn’t work?
Maybe you have an alternative that is so much better it makes his build a wasted effort?

I do have a much better alternative. I have a build that works. It’s 100% based 1vX roaming. I play on magumma on the off hours. I am permanently outmanned. Having a build that works is a huge deal.

This bad build posted on this thread is at best a ,1v1 deuling , test , I’m bored build.

Granted… not an absolute confirmation maybe, but it does strongly indicate that Elite specs will be gotten via some kind of “challenges” in the new maps.

Note that per the datamined figure of 170 HPs, you wouldn’t have needed to go into the HOT jungles for extra HPs to unlock your elites.

What worries me is the phrasing. Unlock your elite spec. there is a world of difference between unlocked, and having the skills/traits to make it useable.

For example right now you unlock the ability to add trait lines at certain levels. But if you dont have the points to unlock the skills in those trait lines it doesnt matter at all that the line is unlocked.

Yes… someone else on another forum mentioned that the challenges may be just to unlock the Elite spec itself… and that you may still need the Hero Points to actually unlock the individual traits and skills.

But LOL… can you imagine if we had to grind through a whole bunch of PVE challenges in the new HOT jungle to unlock the new elite trait lines, and then when we’re done with that… go grind another 100-170 HPs just to slot the individual traits & skills ?

Good lord…

Imagine it ?.. It’s probably the reality of it…

They should just do like spvp. Use the elite specs in wvw. If you wanna Pve with it.. Then you should have to jump through all of the Pve rings of fire to get it.

This and also the reset day change are just wvw players getting kitten on by devs that DO NOT CARE about this game mode or the players that enjoy it.

Instead of Saturday daytime being one of the most active times to play following up reset. You will have created a ghost town for many tiers with this reset change.

Friday night into Saturday WvW will be meaningless and empty.

Honestly I’m now positive that the people who run and develop the WvW content do NOT play it.

You don’t get hps from level up anymore at 80. I have to run all the maps to get upwards of 230 – 250 if I want to unlock all the extras like skins ect.

That part is fine.. But the traits and skills shouldn’t need the Pve grind .. But yet the info I read is 170 hps to unlock all the traits and utilities.

Just another slap in the face at the wvw player.

Please , I’ve been playing since beta. I mostly play WvW. I sometimes play spvp.

Let me get this right. From what I have read. Pvp will have the elite specs to use.

WvW players like myself will have to grind 170 hero points scattered all over the Pve maps to have access to the elite specs.

Please tell me I’m wrong. Nothing would be more painful then running around every map to get hero points. When I have zero interest in any Pve content.

Honestly, I think we’re gonna need some more details about the team comps to be able to judge the situation.

Personally, I’ve been finding that it’s very difficult to deal with any sort of condi pressure. Was the enemy team doing anything to counter you along those lines?

couldn’t land anything on him between the blurs, invulns, blocks and invis. got him once or twice but it was a 3v1 constantly. virtually like a well-played d/d ele was after June 23rd patch. that lvl of broken, i.e. sure it’s vulnerable to X, but puts out a ton of damage and requires an immense amount of resources to down. in conquest it’s not about IF you can somehow get him, but about a) is it feasible, b) is it probable, and c) does your team have the skill. this is how well played d/d eles won tournaments.

there was another herald spec that played in a very similar manner, just as broken if not more. but when I attempted to start discourse in their forums, I got suspended so yeah. revs are in la-la land right now, everything is perfect and beautiful and theyre having so much fun. that’s what matters. but not a single thread discussing the OP builds. and I doubt anyone is even aware.

so I’m glad that chrono and revs are well-designed and fun specs. in fact, so is the druid but it aint broken OP. I expect a massive balance patch prior to release, otherwise welcome to rev/chrono meta for 6 months.

tl;dr: I got owned by supcutie and a great thief working extremely effectively together, but I don’t want to admit that I got owned fair and square, and have decided to blame it on the build instead.

Yes I still make these , like once a week or so. I don’t bother posting them here most of the time because when people see my videos they instantly use them as a tool in the nerf Mesmer argument.

But after reading lots of people talk about condi/pu and seeing no real good videos I figure I would share some of what it’s capable of.

My editing is terrible sorry in advance.

Looks more like some 1v2s with them trickling in.

I give the editing job 10/10.

@op maining a condi Mesmer in wvw , I can tell you that all of them nerfs are probably deserved. It’s not the skills themselves that were opd. It was the combinations that you can create with them.

Just an example , the MTD nerf after 1 day. The nerf by it self looks like “wtfanet” but if you ran it with scepter. You can get 13 stacks of torment on someone in under 2 seconds.

That first day I was melting groups of people. I knew it wouldn’t last. I was running around with 2800 condi dmg to test it.

Anyways as it stands now. Condi Mesmer can still 1v2 -1v4 in wvw depending on player skill levels. I do it on a daily basis. The problem really comes down to spec, player skill and knowing what classes you are fighting. Most condi Mesmers I come across run sub optimal gear/spec. Or have no idea what the survival/DPS rotation is.

There is also to many on paper know it all’s here on this forum or I would post a recent video or go into further detail.

Fay – I’m glad you find me adorable. As for your well thoughtout analysis. I’ve already said this isn’t a highlight reel more then a few times. There is times in the video I’m laughing so hard while playing I’m shocked I even lived at times. That seems to be overlooked. I’m one of them people if something is really funny I laugh alot. I’m guessing you don’t know what that’s like? It absolutely ruins any focus you may have. There isn’t anything about this video that was super tryhard srsbuisness. I’m not sure why people can’t overlook that.

As for me having a say about someone’s else’s videos. Well I watched more then a few. There was nothing enjoyable at all there. Frankly it was boring. I have the right to make an opinion same as you or anyone else does after viewing something.

Kabuki I’ve used a ton of different builds I’m still constantly trying to balance it out. My gear aswell. As for the terrain , I find my best 1vX moments come from be able to go vertical at times. It really helps a bunch to split the enemy up.

good fights in Eb TB ING and Os and a few others I am sure.

Indeed, was some great fights. Prior to EBG we were in NSP borderlands caping everything in sight… we didnt have any resistance for the most part and after we took a keep we had a ton of supply so we started building golems… and we took more towers and had more supply…. so we built MOAR GOLEMS!!!! We had so many it was kinda stupid.

Alas.. this is us in Bay, chilling with our golem army.

Frands at ING we love fightin you but pls chill on the numbers some. There were like 25 of us then a bunch of pug rally bait. We weren’t even tagged and they were able to follow us!

Also EA love you guys even if we didn’t run into you solo last night. Admire your choice to continually run on against us regardless If you’ve wiped to us a bunch or are outnumbered.

For the most part in the last 7 weeks we have fought nothing but massive zergs outnumbered 90% of the time. We had a good showing last night, but were so used to fighting outnumbered and having to really kick kitten and work together, when we smash with similar numbered zergs or smaller… they tend to die.. very fast.

kitten you heavily populated servers for making us better players!!! heheh.. Im sure next week well be back to going oh kitten 60+ man zerg… good fights though, a lot of fun!

I like when a fight is good and even, anything could happen and its more fun than lagging to death from a blob of red death… lol

I have to call some BS on this one. 90% of the time in that 7 weeks? You guys were against us twice out of those 7 weeks and we certainly don’t come close to putting up numbers to out number DB. On top of that, one of those weeks was with NSP who has very similar numbers to us, so for the better part of that entire week, you we not ever outmanned. 1/7th is 14% right there.

It also seems that many of your guys can’t/won’t do small fights (15 or less) at all (not talking about your guild). Take today for an example. I spent several hours on your BL while only seeing a few DB. It then took 8 to over power me out of Vale (which was fully upgraded so I have a little sympathy there). Those 8 then went after Briar, which we had done some upgrading (wall, door, and oil) and sieging. They ran away within seconds. It was 3 of us IoJ, nothing more. Next up came a zerg of 40+ (including an omega) led by a charr NNK commander. What a serious waste of man power when it takes 40+ to capture one tower from 3 people.

All is fair in love and war, if you want to take a banhammer and smash a fly with it, why not? When you realize that when it comes to a fight to use any means possible to win and that rules or what you think is right or wrong doesnt matter. People will use any means to win.

Now i cant speak for our entire server but generally when we do a guild run in wvw we go lookin for zergs to fight. Outnumbered or not.

Nothing is fair in life, instead of trying to defend a tower that is doomed, fall back to a secondary tower that they might attack afterwards and prepare it in the time you have to fight back. Win some, lose some, you cannot win every fight, but you can choose which fights to win. Just have to be smart about it!
