How much will RAM affect FPS for CPU-heavy GW2?

I was just wondering if it was worth it to upgrade to 8GB from 4GB for GW2, if it will affect my FPS at all.

I want to see if there is a correlation between the manufacturer and an improvement on MacOSX vs. BootCamp.
So far there seems to be a difference between ATI and Nvidia, which Nvidia not showing much of an improvement on MacOSX. I have Nvidia GeForce 9400GT 512mb. On Windows I can play Medium settings (which still looks great btw) with pretty good performance non WvW zerg. On Mac, I can barely play with above 10FPS when moving.
So,
Nvidia GeForce 512mb
Bootcamp(30fps) > MacOSX (10fps)
I agree. This is awesome and brilliant. More kids at my school have Macbook Pros than any other type of computer, so opening up online gameplay options to them besides World of Warcraft is smart.
Also, those Tamini Foothills are so broken. An entire party of players will wipe them out completely and then when they leave, the centaurs will respawn immediately. There needs to be some kind of delay for people trying to get to the pit cave.
I completely agree with this! The respawn rates are ridiculous and all the animals just spawn out of thin air. One example is by the Tamini Foothills in the jumping puzzle cave (in Queensdale). At the very end, by the chest is a veteran chromatic ooze. My friend and I were both appropriate levels and were wiped from the zone. They all respawned. Then two others joined us, and it was just us four now against the completely spawned oozes. We wiped the entire room and got the chest. Then the oozes respawned 20 seconds right afterwards!! We could barely escape with our lives. There was no time to further explore or try to find an alternative exit to the cave. I really think the respawn rates need to be fixed because right now I end up dying because something I just killed spawns back behind me.
So after 10 days of a hack/ban, my account was finally restored yesterday. Thank you. I just wanted to give some encouragement to other hacked players that eventually they will likely see Tyria again. Maybe it’s a good thing I missed most of the zerg in the newb areas.

So my account was hacked, and when I got it back, I changed my e-mail and password immediately. But then I see there was a ban applied. Other players have been reporting banned accounts when they try to change their e-mail and password information. Is this a precautionary measure?

Should I make a new ticket. Maybe they think it was resolved when it wasn’t. I was banned from the hacked account and haven’t heard a word.

I’ve been waiting 10 days and still no help. What is going on?!?!

I’ve been trying to play other MMOs, but I just can’t with all the raving reviews about GW2. It’s really upsetting. What games/things are you doing to pass the time?
I’ve been waiting 10 days for my account to be restored with only an automated response.
Speaking of Debit cards not having a limit, not true. As a Debit card user myself I have a set limit that prevents unauthorized persons from emptying my bank account. You the user of a Debit Card must tell the bank to set a limit…
Speaking of ANet, got a email from my bank letting everyone know that since bank gotten lot of complaints and fears of credit/debit cards are being compromised they have put Anet and NCSoft on the watch list and notified US Federal Law Enforcement namely the United States Secret Service and the FBI about the situation.
That seems a little excessive. Are you sure about that?
Did they say in the EULA that they were storing our CVVs for the gem purchases? When I pre-purchased I don’t remember reading that.
Thanks Sorry. I realize I gave them my information, but it’s still important to check your card and see if there were charges made. Also, I said I’d prefer not getting a chargeback. I can’t even get one as I prepurchased the game in May.
I think it might be because gold sellers often stand idle in public places shouting their spam. Where did you log AFK at? Maybe they are tagging players who AFK in certain zones.
Branskins maybe you’re too young to understand how credit cards and chargebacks work. Chargebacks generally don’t have repercussions on the bank-end at all because they are often multiple accidental purchases or fraudulent access to the card. Once I went to the movies and they accidentally charged me twice. I couldn’t call them up for a refund, so I called my bank and got it cleared away. Getting a chargeback for an online purchase is common if the purchase was defective and you couldn’t get it properly refunded. There is nothing fraudulent about chargebacks. Ask your parents or read more about it: http://www.busams.com/guide/chargeback.htm
Also, for you military out there, USAA kicks money butt.
ALSO, more generally http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chargeback
Two accepted reasons for chargebacks:
Quality: Consumer claims to have never received the goods as promised at the time of purchase.
Fraud: Consumer claims they did not authorize the purchase or identity theft.Read more here: http://corporate.visa.com/about-visa/our-business/operating-regulations.shtml
Your condescending tone is slightly annoying but I will look passed that. How about you read the EULA where they explain that a hacked account is your fault since it…is. This is unless they are covering up some leak which if true I would join your crusade.
Ok so ANet delivered the service to you, you used an account that was already leaked or easy to hack, and now you want to issue a chargeback because the goods weren’t delivered? They were and due to an error on YOUR end, you have to wait in a queue for help. This is ABUSE of the system. If I buy a car which is then stolen from me, I screw over the dealer who sold it to me assuming they had no involvement?
So tell me, where is this warranted? Being charged twice at a movie theatre makes sense obviously, but here this is YOUR mistake. Read your EULA.
I hope they fight these claims based on the principal
You aren’t understanding the problem. The problem isn’t the hacked accounts. The problem is the credit card information we cannot remove. Our credit card information is liable to hackers. Read the posts where people are getting undesired charges from gem purchases. This is not OUR mistake. You don’t understand the problem at all.

Are you serious Branskins? You don’t think it’s serious when a company allow scammers to use your credit card information using a fraudulent system where they don’t even need to check your CVV on your Credit card to make a purchase. In what dimension is that not serious? A chargeback is perfectly justifiable.
It’s illegal for them to store you credit card information? Funcom lets you make ingame purchases without the CVV.
Edit: but you also have to login into the website in order to do that.
Another forum said they get charged 20 dollars per charge back. I guess it’s different for every bank like you said.
No unauthorized purchases on my account, but this “feels” like fraud.
The online support system I’m afraid. He probably won’t get reached for another week or so, though. They are inundated with issues

The rate your going still isn’t enough. There’s no way to justify that. Anet doesn’t have NEARLY the amount of people working on the hacking/bans as they should, bottom line.
I would respectfully offer that you really don’t know the rate or the number of people involved. I’m not saying it’s perfect, and I’m not saying that people are not waiting longer than they and we want them to. But let’s not make a pointless and unfounded statement here.
[Incident: 120905-001631] Still not handled after a week now. Cool.
But the ticket is just three days old. Did you create more than one ticket? If so, could you please reference your first ticket number, and could you close the other tickets so you don’t slow the response time?
My original ticket: 120901-004730
Been waiting 8 days Gaile. Come on, are you telling me that someone (other than an automated system) couldn’t have helped me by then?
You won’t get your account back faster than that. People have had their account hacked for more than a week and still don’t have them back. I agree that the banning system is childish. It’s too extreme and they are banning indiscriminately. They can afford to with millions of players. Who will care about the 11k without their accounts, when 2 million can access the game fine? No one.
What I want to know is why we had to make an e-mail SOLELY for Guild Wars 2. When has any other game EVER required that?? Only a very weak and incompetent system would require the user to go to such lengths for one game. That’s ridiculous reasoning Valkar. It is not the user’s fault if they were not aware that they could no longer depend on security they’ve trusted for years via other games when it came to ArenaNet.
Sorry to hear your troubles. I’ve been waiting 9 days myself. Try adding your ticket number to sticky above, and keep active on this forum. Maybe if we make enough noise they will hear us and realize this isn’t acceptable.
Has anyone had any luck getting a refund? Maybe if you get a refund, you can just rebuy the game?

Join the club. 11k+ accounts compromised. I’ve been waiting for 9 days with no help.
They are on my bank company’s watchlist as well as on another’s list in London. I think the bank is called Lloyd’s.
I wonder if any of the reviewing sites have had their accounts compromised. That would look bad, but honestly, HONESTLY, these issues have nothing to do with the game, just the company itself (which appears to be incompetent for a release this large). I have heard the game itself is wonderful so hopefully they can fix this up and overhaul their security systems. I have been playing mmorpgs for 10 years now. Tons of AAA releases from Funcom, to Blizzard, to SOE, and never has my information been compromised like this. It’s frightening.
They are just not helping us, instead sending us automated messages. Many of us have had our accounts restored, but there is a ban. If the hackers still have access, then the problem is completely on ArenaNet’s end and they should take down the servers to find the loophole. Honestly, if the reason my account is banned is because even with a unique password and e-mail the hackers can still get in, then that IS A HUGE ISSUE, and will completely disrupt this game’s integrity.

Just called the bank. Check my post on the forums about canceling your card.
Check the charges on your credit card to see if hackers bought stuff!!! I just called my bank to see if I should cancel my card. I don’t want to chargeback yet, because all they have to do is unban my hacked account. Anyway, the representative told me that they have recently been getting a few chargeback requests from people regarding their ArenaNet purchases, and now the bank has flagged ArenaNet for future purchases in case users’ credit cards are compromised. He didn’t say whether or not there were false charges from hackers, but he did say that if you truly feel like your information may be compromised, call your bank immediately and cancel your card. I’d wait for the chargeback before ArenaNet bans your entire account though. I read in another post that banks will charge them a fee for all chargebacks which is likely why they don’t want you to do it.
Edit: Because some users like Branskins lack reading comprehension, the problem is not the hacked account. The problem is the credit card information is still tied to the account and I’m unaware if hackers have been using it buy gems since ArenaNet does not require CVV verification. I am just writing this to warn other people to check their credit card charges and possibly cancel their card if they need to. Other users have reported money lost from gem sales. One person even said around 200 pounds was spent. It’s worth it to at least check.

You’re likely banned because of what the hackers were doing on your account, namely gold-selling.

I have been waiting for 9 days to get my account back. It was unhacked and I have the credentials but now it is banned for what the hacker must have done. Really, I don’t understand why you would give back an account and not remove the ban. The technical support team is really incompetent.
Should I get a refund? Is it faster than waiting to get my account back? I’m afraid my credit card information is compromised, and I heard there is no way to remove the information, but I don’t even have a number to call. My wife’s account is also compromised, as well as many of her co-workers at PC Gamer. I think it’s affecting everyone at this point, but really 9 days??

What is the length of time a chargeback is valid for? I bought the game in like April…
maybe the hackers would be better at getting our accounts restored than ArenaNet…
The Secret World (their customer service helped me in 15 minutes via live chat to dispute a billing claim —> guess subscriptions are sometimes worth it) and Smite.

Yeah this JUST happened to me. Some guy named lance. they didn’t even bother to READ the ticket. They just gave a blanket solution. They really are not taking the time to help us individually.
I sent an updated ticket about how my account was banned after it was freed from hacking. Obviously it was banned from the actions of the goldsellers, but ArenaNet did not even read my updated message. Instead they gave me a link to reset my password and e-mail, WHICH I ALREADY DID. They are not even appreciating our time and examining us case by case, instead grouping me under a solution for a Hacked account. I got my account back. I want it unbanned. It should not take more than 5 minutes to examine one player’s file and definitely get rid of the ban, while determining which IP was accessed when and where. How much longer will I have to wait?
And yes, the person who responded without reading my Ticket was named Lance like some of the other posts.

Honestly, why is it taking so long to lift bans on accounts that were hacked? The players were verified and given back their accounts. How long does it take to remove the ban? Why is support moving so sluggishly when this should be fixed easily. Solution: Ease up on the bans. Enforce greater e-mail security. That means: don’t let me change my e-mail unless I confirm it on the previous e-mail. THIS STILL ISNT IMPLEMENTED.
I bet if ArenaNet knew reviewers were getting hacked, they would step up their service.
Why is e-mail validation still not enforced? That way it puts two passwords between a hacker and my information as opposed to one. This is a professional game and I would have expected professional service. Right now it feel like a terrible F2P game from Korea that I didn’t even have to purchase.
60$ should mean something. Heck, even Bethesda offers better tech support for their one-time purchase games than ArenaNet.

The same thing happened to me. Why is it taking them so long to restore accounts?!? It’s not like hundreds of thousands were affected.
Contact your credit card company.
My account was hacked (like the others, meaning no clicking on phishing e-mails, just having information stolen from other websites) and I have yet to get my account back. They replied after four days to say it was returned back to me, but when I tried to login it said I was banned for hacking/illegal practices, which obviously had to have been done when the account was hacked by goldsellers. It’s been a week without the account and the support has been terrible. Has anyone had better luck via Reddit or the Wiki? This is really terrible you know. Even if my credentials were lost due to similar account info on a fansite, I feel like they shouldn’t let someone change the e-mail without first confirming the change with my previous e-mail. This still hasn’t be fixed.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Should I just get a chargeback and notify the credit card company? I kind of feel scammed. Regardless of whether having the same account information on a related website (I think it was Blizzard btw), I feel like my purchase warrants at least better support than this.
