Okay I was at vale on Gunnar’s Hold BL. There I got attacked by a mesmer, first I thought it was a mesmer with a lot of invisibility, then it turned out the attacks came from under the surface. The guy is killing our dolyaks and sentries, but can’t seem to flip the sentries since he is under the surface.

What is going on here!?

I agree with you about the Haste, but if you’re going to do that, why not go all-in with on-crits for better synergy? Mug is great, but the vuln-on-crit (Sundering Strikes) is getting the ICD removed and proc chance upgraded this coming patch as well.

You can also divert some of your Trickery points into going down to 25 DA: gives you 5% bonus damage on dual skills (your S/D bread and butter), and 10% bonus damage on targets with a condition (i.e., all targets). You’d still be able to maintain Thrill, though you’d lose Bountiful.

EDIT: and I suggest doing the math before switching to Precision. Power is usually a better investment.

I would have to test this, the 4 initiative regen from Hastened Replenishment gives me both an opportunity to pull of another sword 3, or an opportunity to save my self (giving me that extra shortbow teleport). Bountiful theft imo is both offensive and defensive, especially vs guardians, you steal 2 boons and gain fury.

I think with 30 in trickery instead of DA (which ofc. will result in higher burst) I don’t lose too much damage but I maintain quite some survivability.

Sundering strikes is something that I might consider instead of mug.

Too the few S/D thieves out there, how do you think the changes (especially sword 2 and bountiful theft vigor reduced) will influence our thief?

Skills are : Withdraw (healing) , Signet of agility (incr prec), Shadow step, Blinding powder.

I have been using the “might from signet use” trait as well, but I will deff use critical haste from the 10th of December. With food and al lot Fury (70-90% crit chance) , that haste will probably give me a higher damage output than that 3 stacks of might.

Since we are getting more initiative regen, I am considering swapping Hastened replenishment (4 init) for Flanking strikes to get even more sustained damage out of both my number 1 and number 3 skill.

Currently I am using precision + crit damage food and bloodlust sigil, due to the new opportunity haste offers, I will probably start using precision stacks instead of power. This will give me about 85% crit chance without fury and 100% crit chance with fury on.

Why will that haste influence a lot? Well, 1 hit takes 0.5 second, within 2 seconds you should gain 2 seconds of haste, technically within that 2 seconds of hast you can hit 8 times, which means within the 2 seconds of haste it is likely you will be able to get into haste again, since it has no CD. We will be able to get a lot of damage from that!

On the other hand we will lose survivability due to the 0.25 second on skill 2.

What are your thoughts!?

Corraid I am not afraid it will deliver problems, it just takes over 15gb of downloading time. Which for me is probably like 8 hours or so!

As for a 3rd party CPU cooler, what is good and inexpensive in the US are the brands Xigmatek and Cooler Master tower style coolers. Seemingly always on sale and with rebates. No idea on their availability or price over there. I think you have Scythe still available in Europe, US distributor folded, they are also a very good brand but I don’t know the current prices anymore, they may not be as inexpensive.

Those saying I should go for i3-5, first of all they don’t fit in my budget, second I came from an e5700 3 Ghz, I accepted the extremely low framerate in WvW, my only demand was to play with higher settings than “highest performance”. This new build will be a great improvement to what I had, and I am interested in overclocking the processor to get more out of it.

Myself and my guildies are convinced this new build will be a significant improvement compared to what I had. Where an AMD might not do the job for you, please try to see it from my perspective, and keep the overclocking in mind.

A couple places you could save money:

Your GPU…199.99 for a core xfx 7870 is not a good deal.
Your PSU again 63.99 for a corsair 600w builder series is not a good deal
Your RAM….same story…you can get 1600mhz easily for the same price
Assembly…if you can screw in a screw and plug in a wire you can build a PC

If you were to save in those areas you could easily afford to upgrade your cpu.

I hope you realize that those prices are not in USD. Since you didn’t mention the currency I can only assume you meant USD.

I had assumed the € meant Euros. 825€=$1,095. For that they should be able to do better. For example the GPU @ 199.99€=$265 that’s over priced for a core edition 7870. Heck one could get a Club 7870 LE for 203€ or Asus DC II Top for 193€.

Sorry to say this but you are not helping me. I am not going to assemble the computer myself the other great pc builder in NL is about 10-15% more expensive. I except the fact that I pay more but everything will be installed and assembled for me + great customer service and I can just go back to the store whenever necessary. I pay for that, and I’, fine with it.

Any thoughts on the new build? Any advice on what cooler I could put in to overclock the processor?

One more question If I can find a cheaper club one, would that make any differnece, or is it the same card but cheaper because of the producer?

You should post where about’s you live, maybe someone from the same place knows of places that sell pre-made gaming rigs of a decent quality and price.
You can certainly live without the SSD, it speeds up boot/load times but wont make enough of a difference to justify the price, especially when you could use the money for something else.
I recently bought myself a new pc, couldnt afford a new Graphics card at the time so I’m still running a HD7750 and tbh it plays pretty well, although my fx8350 CPU could be carrying it a bit.
I can reach 40-50 frames in wvw just solo roaming and I tend to dip to 25-30 FPS in a average size zerg. Blobs drop FPS a lot but I’m sure that’s the same for even high end cards. I’m running everything on high and just have shadows and Anti-aliasing turned to none and keep pretty steady FPS. Can get 60+fps in PVE easily enough although boss events on AG are super crowded so effects can kill FPS completely.

GW2 is pretty heavy on the CPU so even if you get a high end Graphics card, your CPU could bottleneck your performance if it cant keep up so keep that in mind.

Definitely worth looking around. I built my rig for about £750 which is probably a bit more than your budget but I got a high end Gigabyte mother board and an fx8350 CPU as well as 16gb of Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM, a closed loop water cooler for the CPU and 750watt Corsair PSU. I had it made for me so the parts cost me a little more than they would have if Id have built it myself but it shows you can definitely get a better deal if you look around.

I could go for a 7770 as well it is still a lot better than my 5450 righ? A 7750 could save me another 70 euros which I could reinvest in CPU and maybe motherboard and ram?

Yes the parts are more than if you build it yourself, true but it is just not possible for me, i’d rather just get it fixed. I could buy a 750 worth pc at a dutch retailer but it will give me a lot of harddrive space and an intel graphics card. My old PC will be used by someone else, no salvaging for me.

I am coming from a €400 retail computer. I have never been a hardcore gamer, and i really never complained about my current setup, just decided it is time for something new. Now I do not even want to get to a high end PC or anything, I just want improvements to what I have now. I want to be possible to play GW on anything higher than “best performance” and more than perfect to me would be avarage.

How big of a change would it be to pick a radeon 7770? Can I completely scratch out that SSD without picking another one? Will this set up work well together? Any thoughts on that? Will it synchronize ? (I don’t know a lot about computers so therefor I need help)

Currently I have simple PC with a dual core intel e5700 3.0 GhZ and an AMD Radeon 5450 graphic card, and this has been working fine in PvE.

I don’t need extremely high settings or anything so in PvE this works fine. In WvW though it gets a lot less very quickly, even when playing on lowest quality. I am a bit sick of seeing all characters as the same coloured toons they are, so I would prefer to see other peoples armour etc also in WvW.

I decided to build a PC but I need some help, I will be using alternate.nl as I know they are trustworthy. My budget is max €725 including an OS. Currently I’ve been readin about this build on a forum that was called : budget gaming PC of 750$.

Please check whether this build would work together, and after please give me advice on how I can reduce the cost to €725 , while still making sure I can play decent WvW!

(assembly is a must, I would surely break stuff if I would do it myself)
(would the radeon 7770 do ? Or maybe the GT 620 with an extraprocessor cooler and OC?)

I use sigils to try to make up with all the PVT and healing power I’ve invested in.

So I am in full tank mode PVT and a lot of healing power.

Sigil of bloodlust for the 25 stacks of extra power. Sigil of battle for at least 12 stacks of might up all the time.

I am a commander on WvW, so my main focus is staying alive, because of my sigils I can still do a decent amount of damage though. When I need to go even tankier (for example when fighting at SM lords) I use a dagger with Sigil of Energy instead of Battle, for an extra dodge every 9 seconds.

Nah, that was phase 3, after we got pushed out two times already, maybe Eras has more screens :p

No screens, but yes we had to down siege 2-3 times and we fought the whole MS zerg. After that we regrouped (which I am still happily surprised about, because it was after being pushed out 3 times, at that point, usually most players just wander in on their own) and then we’ve managed to do one final push together and it worked out.

I think numbers were even, chances were even, simply a great fight.

Gunnars I am disappointed that I have such a busy week this week.

I have seen a great mindset on our server over the short periods I’ve been online this weekend. Where (to be honest) I expected a lot of people complaining about this new matchup, instead most of us are doing all they can to protect whatever we can.

I think this week will not break us up, I think it will make our regulars even stronger. Like Jonni Bravoo said in a post up there, we are doing great for the numbers we have.

So guys, basically, what does this mean? My guildies tell me it means finish you daily 4 times. I have done over 15 dailys this month, but I am still on 3/4 finished daily categories? Can someone explain me how I can achieve 4/4 in monthly completionist?

My personal story quest on my thief is called breaking blade.

I have to defend a tavern which goes fine, and than I have to kill a mob called Doc Howler. This mob is practically unkillable to me at my current level….

Any tips?

my warrior is 15 my guardian 10 I don’t have a thief yet but will roll one.

I will level them up to 20 and see which the first one is I will level up.

I like to have as much knowledge about a class as I can, because you guys rolled thieves, warriors and guardians you probably know which guides are the best!

personally i think thief is the most boring class in the game. i would go with guardian, but that’s just my opinion.

Levelling in this game is not really about killing a lot of the same random monsters. You level by doing events, completing renown hearts and best exp of all your personal story!

I need some help, my main is an elementalist, I love it but I want to try something else. I started a mesmer but I’m a little done with a magic caster kind of prof.

I decided I wanted to roll a melee class, I started a warrior but compared to my ele it feels like I’m just using as many skills as I can to get something killed. Now I am considering to roll a thief, which because of stealth and high hits is interesting in my opinion. I heard though that they are quite squishy in PvE and dungeons. I am not a big fan of a squishy class. Than there is the last option guardian, which in my mind is the least preferred choice because I want to do some burst damage.

So I like PvE and dungeons, I don’t like being squishy, I like burst damage. I wanted to roll a warrior because I like how it contributes in heavy dps in a dungeon, but it feels a bit boring when playing. It has to be challenging like my ele, but melee.

Last point, what race would you roll the class you would say fit me best and why!

So please tell me what you think would fit me best. I know the do whatever feels good reasoning, but I am asking you guys to tell me which class would fit me best and why you think that!

I honestly feel like I may be playing a different game than the rest of you. The Ele has several viable builds. Between weapons (Staff, D/D, Scepter/Dagger) and then utilities (Cantrip heavy build, Aura sharing build, Glyph build, or even Signet Aura builds) you can get a ton of unique viable combinations.

The Elementalist can also provide practically everything to a group. Need good support, Ele provides decent group healing. Need good damage, Ele can provide a consistent flow of damage. Need good boons, Ele can provide consistent boons.

What more do you people want?

I completely agree with you my friend, my ele can do anything, I can build myself an unkillable PvE S/D build, I can create a great Staff support build while doing loads of aoe damage at the same time (in dungeons it is not just about support you have to combine support with aoe damage) . I can build something in between damage and lots of survivability with a D/D set up and I love all my options. I started playing alts when I got my ele to 80, but I can’t play them for longer than an hour as I get bored.

Eles are so versatile and that’s what makes them awesome!

Read a lot on forums, learn a lot while playing, watch some videos and you’ll find your way to play the Ele.

Do I understand from this discussion that Karma P/V/T gear is better than AC gear?
