I feel like the better compromise is to instead extend the DS skills into the utility slots as well. This way they can design the utility skills specifically for DS instead of trying to balance existing and swappable utilities around DS.
If this happened, then they would need an upwards of 10 more skills to make for DS and RS. I personally think the more straightforward answer would be to let us just use our normal utility in deathshroud. That way its less predictable and gives a higher skill ceiling. If we have a static 10 skills in DS, then after someone learns all the tells and counters it makes us almost sitting ducks.
I fully support getting utility skills in DS.
No actually. Because they would still disallow the heal and elite in DS. So you would only need 6 additional skills for the 3 utility slots with DS + RS each.

Everytime I see a link to that new dulfy trait utility I have to scratch my head. The links never work… It is always a blank trait setup. So what in the hell…
Maybe I misheard but I’m pretty sure one of the shouts was stun breaker.
Here is my problem with what was shown:
Why would I ever play base Necromancer?
Feel like this could be a point of confusion for new players.
Plus it seems kind of sloppy to have:
Trait line: Soul Reaping
Trait line: Reaper
I dunno. I think it needs to be renamed.
From the video it looks like we get access to two AoE spin attacks. One is done while he is in DS and is the first one shown. The second is done out of DS.
There are a few things about the Necro reveal picture that bare a striking resemblance to the Mursaat.
First. The background image of the reveal picture looks similar to the halo of a Mursaat caster.

Second. The hood being worn in the reveal picture resembles the icon of the Mursaat’s most powerful ability: Spectral Agony.

The Guardian elite spec. got a leap.. how is that not extra mobility?
The only thing they’d have to watch for is activations on skills like Signet of the Locust, where they heal you… and it probably wouldn’t work in Death Shroud.
They could just add an additional caveat to these skills that says something like ‘While in DS this doesn’t heal’. Or ‘While in DS this restores X% of percentage of life force’ instead of a heal.
I would think Zealot’s gear would work much better, as outlined by the ‘Bad Build’ video WoodenPotatoes did. He discusses that siphoning scales with both power and healing power and at least with Zealot’s you are not sacrificing a ton of damage unlike Magi’s or Cleric’s.
I guess the moderator on reddit removed the thread. haha.

Good. Maybe some bad publicity on the eve of an expansion will force their hand.
Honestly. I wish they would replace our ground moving minions with something like ghosts or ghouls or whatever theme that fits the Guild Wars lore but allows our minions to float and move through objects. I think this would solve a lot of the AI pathing issues.
What is the functional difference between a hex and a condition?
Crazy stupid off the wall ideas.
Straight up overhaul the DS mechanic. It is clear A.Net has no idea how to balance the mechanic because of this ‘second health bar’ – justified in calling it that or not. It is a pretty clear sign that something is wrong with a class mechanic when you have to disable a lot of that classes functionality from working while its mechanic is active. That is just bad design. No other class in the game has an ENTIRE trait line become useless because of their main class mechanic.
Here is my dumb idea.
- Change DS to an F1/F2 choice (think Revenant).
- Move Lich Form and Plaque into those slots. (F1 = Lich, F2 = Plague).
- Remove ‘second life bar’. Damage will always go to your real health no matter what.
- Hitting F1 or F2 activates that form and consumes the entire life force pool to do so.
- The form is active for X seconds. Life force pool percentage plus Traits / spec could determine length.
- Change Lich Form and Plague so their effectiveness scales with amount of life force on time of activation. Some examples could be: stability seconds scales with life force percentage, plague pulses more conditions if activated at 100% life force vs 50% life force, plague form condition pulse radius is bigger at 100% life forcevs 50%, etc. You get the idea. Basically more death == bigger life force pool == better Lich or Plague.
- Move some of the old DS abilities to either Lich Form or Plague where it makes sense.
- Remove lackluster abilities of Plague and make them an automatic and innate part of the form, and replace with active abilities. For example Plague form could be our ‘mobility’ form. Give it a good escape and gap closer.
- Come up with new elites to replace Lich Form and Plague.

The way it has worked for myself and others in my guild is you have to completely empty your mail box of everything and don’t even open it until after you’ve gotten 10 mail. It has to be mail. It can’t be hearts or quests.
And when I did it, I didn’t get the hint achievement the second I opened my mailbox. I had to first delete the mail I got and then close the mailbox. I then got the achievement.
The store description and the item description say two different things regarding upgrade components. Can we get an official statement regarding what the intended functionality is supposed to be?
Hello,
In the last day or so, there has been an extremely noticeable change in kill credit when participating in group events such as found in the open world and WvW. There is a WvW specific thread with a similar discussion, but I’ve found that the effects of this are not limited to just WvW content.
As a consequence of this, kill experience and loot drops have declined sharply. In a typical group event before this change, I would end up with anywhere from 6 to 12 loot bags, depending on length of the event of course. Whereas since a few days ago, I’m lucky to walk away with 3 loot bags.

I dunno then. This guardian I saw in WvW the other day had aegis up at least 4 times, in the span of a single fight (30 seconds at most).
Aegis should corrupt into Vulnerability, in my opinion.
Also, they can reapply Aegis so quickly it seems, you have to have someone constantly hitting them just to get Corrupt Boon to apply at all.
Got impatient waiting for reddit to post here, so here it goes.
As reported on reddit by another person:
This bug needs confirmation.
If you enter DS while getting hit by a channeled damaging ability, the damage “bleeds” through to your regular health instead of / in addition to hitting the DS life force pool.
Things to look into:
- Channeled abilities such as pistol whip, flurry.
- Whether conditions like bleeding or burning are also hitting regular health while in DS.

Hey,
I’m on Fort Aspenwood here.
And yes, we are currently matched up.From my perspective, it is really disappointing to go to bed, being up 4k points on both SoS and Mag, and then waking up to see SoS at a 10k point lead. That is a 14k point swing, in the middle of the night.
It makes wanting to take objectives and upgrade them feel pointless.
So your offering of joining SoS sounds real tempting because I’m getting tired of being nightcapped. Sigh.
Really tired of copping grief for simply playing during our prime time. When we go to sleep, we have 2 servers taking back all our nodes. Instead of complaining, we try to find solutions to the problem, ie. try to recruit!
Tonight, we actually had some good fights, and we were fortunate to bust a Maguuma hacker attempting to steal our orb.. which we took back. I’m impressed with how our server has come together these past weeks. Some of the best coordination and teamwork I’ve witnessed so far. So to say that we just night capped you for our points is ridiculous. Remember, your server beat us last time.
On topic, we absolutely welcome the NA guilds that have already transferred here, and encourage the ones who are considering it to do so.
I’m not posting to give you grief.
I’m sorry if it came out that way.
I think the situation sucks on both sides of the issue.
It’s not fun to be night capped. And its not fun to be in a WvW that is empty, or near empty, of opponents during your prime time.
Everybody wants good solid fights, where we feel like we matter, and our actions matter. And it is hard to feel that way when you go to sleep and wake up to find everything you fought so hard for has been taken away – not because we fought hard and lost – but because no one was there at all.

So a big problem we’re seeing on Fort Aspenwood is players from the other two servers transferring to our server the first day of the match up and wasting a bunch of supply building siege equipment in the spawn areas.
I’m sure other servers are experiencing this as well.
In addition to instituting the 1-week server transfer lockout as originally planned, A.Net should also lockout transfers between servers that are matched for the duration of the WvW matchup.
This would not only prevent the short term cheating we are seeing now, but would also prevent players from using an additional account to cheat / spy.
