Combat is terrible....still
lol
I dont get what you want, because they are not going to change it these are elements of the game.
Maybe you should just play another game instead of whining
I hope this doesn’t get taken down. Its far too entertaining.

The combat here is awesome and has multiple layers of depth, strategy and skill levels that are vastly different from many other games’ layers of depth, strategy and skill levels. You just don’t happen to like it, so it’s a matter of oppinion.
I suggest finding entertainment elsewhere if this is what you feel like.
Thief – Duelist | Ranger – Strider | Engineer – Technician |
Elementalist – Spellweaver | Necromancer – Warlock | Mesmer – Trickster |
Why would I hate your language skills?
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Because we all prefer combat where you have a hotbar of 40+ skills and mindlessly press one after the other while standing face to face with a mob without having to think of any other tactic. /sarcasm
I won’t say your opinion is wrong, but I much prefer the combat here than in any other MMO I have played.
Would you prefer there is no downed state and you simply die when your health reaches 0?
Would you rather not be able to dodge, and instead rely on a passive block/parry/evade/miss function?
Because there are a plethora of other games that have systems like these. Guild Wars is a unique exception, and I would love for it to stay that way.
and what i say less true.
yes, it certainly is

I love how you literally complain about getting flamed and claim that that somehow says something about the community in your unedited OP before anyone could even have had the opportunity to reply to you.
This thread is already legendary
My only complaint about the combat is the Auto-Targeting. I know the option to turn it off is there and I will probably have to learn to not use the auto-targeting. It is just sad that if given the choice between shooting the Red that is attacking me, the Yellow grazing in the distance, or a Gate, my Auto Target chooses the Gate. I’m sure others have noticed this and have the same frustration as I do.
Sorry, back to the show, “Dodge or Die”!
lol
Combat improvement suggestion thread?
Combat improvement suggestion thread.
To be honest, I don’t mind downed state TOO too much, but it does need improvements, otherwise there’s no real point in it besides a way to drag out your defeat. My thoughts
1. Improved downed state base damage (not sure how much, possibly a lot for the suggestion next)
2. lower down state HP significantly (make it really do or die, or at least ’let me die fast)
3. Improve the healing rate speed of being revived or the self-heal.
4. Three strikes, your out! Simple as that: downed two times within a short period, you just drop dead on the third hit that drops you to 0 HP.
I think part of this though is shaped by my Left 4 Dead experiences.
A second thing I would like to have that would really require a lot of changes:
5. Block key
Basically the opposite of dodge, you get into as ‘bracing stance’, move a lot slower, but you take reduced damage, and its reduced further depending on your equipment slotted traits, etc. Having a shield and a lot of toughness makes blocks even better, possibly even reducing condition duration!
Some characters would be better dodging, others would be more more suited to dodge, but in the end, both types of defenses would be needed.
I think HoT will do a lot. Specialization, for starters, will help a lot and the combat in this game isn’t awful, just horribly marginalized. The lack of many effective strategies is bound to look like this game’s combat is kitten – improving that through more variety to pick from and specialization is bound to benefit any player who’s not a kittenbag who just wants to feel special for conforming with the meta crowd.

“Mindless” – lol.
That “passive function” is also coupled with ridiculous amounts of damage mitigation, heals, conditional high damage attacks and an array of counter options through skills.
This game is like a hack and slash with a keyboard and that’s annoying as kitten.

Blocking would be fun! I could definitely get into blocking.

So you thought a content expansion was going to change the most fundamental aspect of the game, ie. Combat?
Poor anet, these are the kind of people you have to deal with.

You what. The combat system is probably the core element that held the game together through all else.
