Guild Wars 2

Welcome to Kallas and Catinka! When we do get together, our guildmates tend to run PvE exploring or dungeons, so both of you should feel right at home! I haven’t tried sPvP or WvW, really, because usually I’m not a PvP fan either. However, WvW does look pretty interesting… I’m interested in at least trying it before too long… But I’ve been saying that for a while, and still haven’t done it yet, hehe. As Akamon said, there are a few other Gunnar’s Hold members – feel free to reach out to them or any of the rest of us if you need anything. :]

Back from work. Took a lot longer than we had initially planned. Got another trip coming up soon though. I’d rather spend time with my family, I just can’t see the reason to do anything in Guild Wars unless something amazing happens.

I think I’m going to take a long vacation from gaming as a whole. Thanks for the groups, to all I grouped with. Y’all have fun now.

i’ll be getting quite busy come Christmas (gasp, tomorrow!) and New Year’s with IRL and fam stuff so i might be seeing less game-time in Tyria as well. you all hold down the fort here! heh.

@Kat – love your character names. welcome!!! : ))) and everyone loves a lover of dancing. heh, we have a few TC in here, no? to the rescue UnioN!!!!!! if you do dungeons, more than a handful of us would be willing to fight along your side! and we all make sure people get rezzed and stay up and fighting. XDDD

@Aeleniel – yarr, this is my first MMO and coming from a background of playing solo games, namely RPGs on consoles, PvP in general never really stood out to me.. but having played WvW a bit i love it! it’s quite different, and can depend on your server as well, however, find a good group or even going solo can be quite fun. takes getting used to learning the ropes, but once ya do, it can be a blast!

should be able to get off work shortly… we get a semi-half day on Christmas Eve!! now waiting for someone to leave so i’m not the first out the door, lol. might be able to jump in game before dinner! fingers crossed heh.

@Kat | I’m going to hop back online to invite you to the guild (and I’ll double-check a couple other invites while I’m there). Dying is part of life in GW2 for a while. Would you like some pointers? This group is great with that! What level and profession are you? Also, we’re a fun group, so if you enjoy dancing… You’ll fit right in!

@akamon | My background is mostly solo console RPGs, as well. I have played many F2P MMOs, but I played those solo too (for the most part). WvW seems very complicated. I don’t want to jump in, because I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve been trying to read about it, but I know I’m not comprehending because I haven’t tried it. Such is my pickle. I’ll just have to put my big girl pants on and try it!

Well regarding wvwvw, a friend did drag me to wvwvw pre lvl80 and it looked fun. Didn’t kill much as my gear pref is vit, power, and toughness with power, toughness, and healing power (dolyak runes and regen on stealth trait makes me able to rapidly retreat heal and jump back in). Which is not the set up for a thief that kills much there.

But my goal is to recycle my original look (human t2) as a combo serker valkyrie dagger set so i can properly partake in the killing. Will make the stuff myself as I have 400 leather and jwellery.

So if your in GH and looking to dungeon call me, I seem to spend more time in cof path 1 than anywhere lately (at least the coin is decent though) but will happily branch out especially for that new one. Due to skipping Lost shores due to the lag I’ve had issues getting into groups (I’m lvl1 still).

Not a fan of wvw unless you have a good team on your server which imo our server lacks. But I could be wrong as I can’t really get bothered with that. I only did wvw for the 100% map completion but I did that at a other server which was pretty awesome. But since I had some friends at Gunnar’s hold I went back and I also have a guild with a friend there so all my points would be gone if I switched server haha. Silly I know but that’s the reason I don’t like wvw at the moment.

As for dungeons anything goes though I’m not a pro at those.
With FotM I’m at lvl 24 but finding groups at that lvl is freaking hard.

My crafting skills suck as I always tend to run out of mats with all mmo’s so I’m not much help there :P

I’m so glad I found this thread! There doesn’t seem to be many Eredon Terrace guilds. Should I consider switching worlds, to have more guild members available to play with?

@Catinka | My server, Eredon Terrace, always fares badly in WvW. I have heard that we aren’t “bad” – that we’re actually fair pretty well in individual battles… But that we lack the size and participation to actually compete. Eredon Terrace seems to be growing in size, though, so hopefully that will change! Also, I don’t mind being the underdog – it’s fun to try to “turn the tide.” I haven’t tried Fractals yet, and I’m not sure when the new updates are to be expected, but hopefully after they change the things they talked about in the last annoucement it will be much easier for you to find a Fractals group.

@Deekkru | Welcome! I’ll send you an invitation right now. Eredon Terrace is actually represented in the Legion of Honour (our group’s guild) pretty well! I can think of at least five very active, helpful players, and a few others as well. Eredon Terrace is my server, so if you need help, don’t hesitate to ask. My highest level character at the moment is a level 65ish Ranger. If you’re looking for higher level content, there are a few others that can help you out (and I’ll get there before too long!). It’s up to you whether you want to switch servers, but I think ET is a pretty decent server, and it’s growing. As I said to Catinka, though, ET usually does pretty bad in WvW, so that might sway your decision depending on how much you want to get in WvW. Also, nuttiness is fully appreciated! :]

@DEK | You play WvW on ET often, right? How is it? EDIT: I just read on the other forum that you switched servers, but can you still comment on how WvW was? xD

@Aeleniel – yar, i was hesitant at first, and had no idea what to do either.. but luckily, there was someone who spoke up quite a bit and so i just asked him questions and they responded. even until now, i don’t really know where is best to place siege weapons (which i should learn) but i focus on seeing what’s going on in map chat / team chat. it’s fun though! don’t be afraid and get in there! ; ))) since you guys have decent presence on the Union, could go in a small group as well, heh. always nicer with a friend. and it helps when first upon entering any given map, i usually ask, WHERE ARE PEOPLE NEEDED? and i’ll gowherever the battles are or peopel tell me to and start from there : ))

@Deekkru – welcome!!! and happy holidays! Norn elementalist, eh?? those are far and few between. very awesome. and like Aele mentioned, ET in the Union is growing by the day! the Union of [XIII] is mainly a cross-server guild if you will.. but there are a few servers that have a slightly more growing population heh. but it’s all good fun and nice ot ahve people to chat to, what not. i’d suggest you can perhaps stick with ET for now and meet up with the good peeps there~~

@everyone else – hope you all keep enjoying the holidays!DDDDDddd really haven’t been on in the past 2 – 3 days hehe due to Christmas stuff, nor the forums! so as much as i miss Tyria, hehe, i am glad to announce i guess i’m not officially addicted to it? yet? hmm lol.

@akamon | Your suggestion of asking in map chat where to go is the simplest, but best advice. Even though I’ve never really done WvW before, I know that I’m competent at following instructions. xD

:DD and just pray that you find a good leader/commander! heh. i’ve followed many a great leaders! while some i’ve followed have just led us to wipe lol. but even then, the tactics that come along with WvW make it interesting and more fun than strictly PvP (which i have no taste for heh)

@G | Hmm… I’m not sure about new year’s resolutions. I usually make at least a halfhearted one, but I don’t think I’m going to. I’ve been trying to be more open, honest, and understanding of others and myself, so perhaps my resolution will be to continue that into the next year and beyond! What about you? Is Operation Union a guild now, instead of just a community initiative to draw people together?

It’s whatever you want it to be. It was created as chat channel for companionship, help etc, so at its foundation it is just that…a community initiative to draw people together. There is also a guild, but not in the traditional sense, since the union encompasses all servers and countries…hopefully guesting will come soon. So no, you don’t have to be in the attached guild or represent.

@Aye: Operation Union is NOT a guild, this is a community initiative to bring like minded people together so that they can help each other out in different parts off the game.
The Legion of Honor XIII IS a guild, we are the same people, but you don’t need to join us if you don’t want to. O:U will allways be here, the guild is only a way to connect with each other in the game on a more user friendly base.

Well the Legion of Honour was more of a compromise as I don’t think people have the will to sort through 27pages.

It acts more of a HUB anyway if you need more for dungeons, advice or an exploring buddy.

Good luck everyone with your resolutions! I don’t like making New Year’s resolutions. I guess I kind of feel like I should be doing these things all the time. Be a better person. Exercise/lose a little weight. Eat better. Give to the needy. Etc.

Or…maybe it’s that I know that I make resolutions/set goals all the time and typically fail at them, so why set myself up for the disappointment? Haha. In the words of Yoda, “Do or do not. There is no try.” So I don’t. :-P

@AJ – welcome to you!! love the combo’s of your races and professions. a few of the best in -game imo. what time zone are you in? i ask since SoS is the “unofficial Oceanic” server. i’m from Hong Kong so usually on around GMT+8 night times. : )) we can defs do some dungeons together! actually, a handful in here are quite experienced and many are up for running them too! heh, practice makes perfect.. rmb to dodge dodge dodge! lol (and lots of area denial for the Guardian heh)

@G and Kit – an early congratulations!!DDD i know it’s going to be super sweet and G, that you will have it just the way Kit wants and needs it. awww. hehe, no resolution can beat that one lol
