The badge cost will depend on the discounted laurel cost I’d think. We’re just going to have to wait and see what the cost combination is and how they price the time value of badges.
Introducing Infusions and Ascended Gear in WvW
Now you can purchase Ascended rings and amulets and upgrade your WvW abilities with six new Infusions that give your character special WvW bonuses! Just speak to the new Laurel and Badge Merchants on each mapBolded the part that really caught my attention. Infusions have been a gripe of mine for awhile. This sounds VERY interesting. Lets hope there’s some meat to it.

1) badges are kitten easy to get on high tiers, this is so you can buy lots of siege.
2) waaaay too many people are stuffed senseless with badges and are too selfish too buy lots of siege and want rewards for themselves, aka ascended items.It’s not ever going to happen, and you can quote me on it

The laurel cost for the Asc does the same thing… I hate it. Make it captures or something else. At least the monthly resets shortly after release…

Question: Will these reward chests for ranks be given for people who already have Ranks? For example will a Rank 60 player receive 60 chests?
There will be a system for rewarding players who have already gained ranks. The way it will work is you will have a backlog of 60 chests, if you were at rank 61, and for each rank you achieve after that you will get 2 chests, instead of 1, until you’ve received all 60 of your backlog. These bonus chests should be available for every player who has gained rank prior to the build.
This backlog idea seems like a great way to balance the perceived unfairness of no retroactive rewards versus the glut and devaluation that would occur if retroactive rewards were granted all at once.
I hope this idea sees use in other parts of the game too.

Seriously, ascended back items are left out? You have a week, please hurry and add them so I dont have to do fractals, or add something specific to WvW like weapons to force PVE players into it like we’re forced to do their stuff.

Assuming what has been said already, the original poster was right. The laurels are the time-gate piece that they are leaving in place. I guess the “discount” price is really the kicker here. Is it 20 laurels? 15 laurels?
The original poster was simply saying those of you that hoarded 1000s of badges will never buy ascended items with those badges exclusively, which is in fact correct, because you will not have enough laurels, or a way to earn laurels any faster than dailies/monthlies. You may get twice as many ascended items for your laurels using badges, but you still have the limit/gate there.
A little disapointed they are not doing anything to DIScourage the karma-train and zerg-balling that is going on. Now that ranks give rares/other goodies, people are really going to push that habit to the max to get those rewards. Still waiting for the better rewards if you can manage to take a tower with 5 people, instead of 50.

Will we be able to get all ascended items with this update in WvW? That means back items, rings, accessories, and amulets? Furthermore, will we be getting any new pieces of ascended gear with this? Weapons? Armor?
Lastly, can you guys please be awesome and put in exotic waterbreathers at the WvW vendors? I hate using an ugly green level 80 item for underwater combat, as if underwater combat wasn’t painful enough.
They only said ring and amulets. But fear not, for 40 laurels and 50 ectos, both of which you can get in WvW you’ll be able to get accessories too! Now matter how much of a scam it is obviously.

Sounds like they listened to the players complaining about not mixing up the matchups enough and not making it delegation/relegation weekly. Im sure if thats the sysytem they put in place it will cater for 1 or 2 servers, but the rest are going to hurt because of it.

Im hoping they start matching the NA and EU servers up against each other to give “new opponents.”

But, if 3 servers have a even force, play on same level and fight for victory until last day everytime and everytime there’s a different winner, then you should not ruin that matchup because “Ppl is bored of fighting same 2 servers”.

So what if it takes you this long to get all your BACKLOGGED chests. its not like your missing out on anything, or your time was wasted. Now if it took longer to get each level then i could see your concern, but it doesn’t each level after 5 is 5000 Wxp. Think of it this way someone that just starts today playing wvw will need to get 315 levels to get 315 chests you only need to do 157. I would be rather happy if i was you.

Its more than likely a glicko volatility adjustment (as in making it more volatile) with an introduction of a winners/losers medium marker to act as a soft reset on stagnating glicko. The problem with the current system is that glicko 2 is too easily stagnated by “winning by a lot” and punishes servers that win a lot by forcing them to win by even more the following week lest they be trapped in their tier forever. Even just adding much more volatility to the system would not fix this sort of an issue if the gap between tiers and, subsequently, the gap between teams in the tier itself, is so large that there’s simply not way to break the mold without divine intervention.
By adding a winners/losers medium, servers that are “stuck” winning by landslides for several weeks will circumvent their stagnating glicko and be pushed up a tier while servers who are trapped in oppressive landslide losses (EU T1) will be able to leave the tier without having to throw matches and hope that the tier below them wins by massive amounts. This acts as a soft-reset on the glicko as the moment the team rises or falls, their glicko will have to adjust accordingly to the new tier and, naturally, after the adjustment will be extremely volatile whereupon a team that cannot compete in the next tier up will quickly fall back into place. This will result in some yo-yoing but it will allow for servers to have breathing room whether it be up or down without having to “play the rating game” for weeks on end as they are forced to do now.
Yes, you’ll get lopsided matches… but you already have lopsided matches. And teams that are winning by landslides could use a change of pace where they actually face opposition even if its a very steep change in competition between tiers.

I don’t think you have any idea what you’re talking about. They are meatshields but the dynamic of the class (ie. it doesn’t have one because of its linearity) is one of the easiest to counter and is the reason they are non-existant in tPvP.
