They have just sent an email which they say to login my account and try a few things with my permission and i ve said ok. Hope this is not a common thing and they really do something.

That’s a good thing, and thank you for giving permission. The programmers need to see exactly what’s taking place, so your help can be instrumental in the resolution of this issue.

Many thanks.

Was effecting me also during the week, couldn’t load any characters into Rata Sum.
Changed DNS, or more to the point, added in Google’s free dns of 8.8.8.8 and that helped get me over the problem of loading characters in Rata Sum but it’s not helping now with loading the EB map in WvW.

Thanks.

Anytime I’ve tried getting into the IRON MARCHES, my character does not complete the loading screen and ends up with error code…YOu guessed it, becuause its not in the THREADS NAME or anything. Error Code 7:11:3:191:101

Oh, and in case nobody understood, if it was ever a question in anyones mind, this thread is revolving around errors with getting Error Code 7:11:3:191:101 whenever loading up specific maps. Such as teh Iron Marches. Or Frostgorge. Or The Plains of Ashford. Or Drytop.

Notice a pattern?

By the way, if your team wants to test it on my account, as I have already given permission for, my primary character, DarkusTheFirst is parked right outside the Iron Marches.

Though again, as I mentioned, a friend of mine, using my character, could log in and get my character out of the Iron Marches. So, not sure how much helping logging onto my guy can actually do, but hey go for it.

You guys are the experts after all.

Your ISP: BT

The full Error Code: 7:11:3:191:101
The number of characters with the problem: 3
The map name(s) on which the character or characters are trying to load: Heart of the Mists + Lornar’s Pass.

The problem first started when I tried to get into the Heart of the Mists with my Mesmer, once it failed to load I tried a couple more times to no avail. I then tried on my Guardian (my main), loaded into Lion’s Arch just fine but when I tried to connect to the Heart of the Mists with him the same problem/code popped up.

So after a few more attempts I connected to my Elementalist in Lion’s Arch, went into Bloodtide Coast just fine and then when I tried to walk through the connecting portal to Lornar’s Pass the problem started again. I can’t get back on to any of these three characters.

I just tried all of my other characters, my Engineer in Lion’s Arch loaded okay, my Necromancer in Caledon Forrest, my Ranger in Southsun Cove and my Thief in Caledon Forrest, they all loaded in perfectly fine, however I didn’t try and move them to another map at this point since that seems to be the problem. If you need any more info, I’d be happy to supply it.

After some testing, I might have found the cause of this problem. I believe it is the conflict between the person’s public IP and the game map IP. I will explain why I came up with this conclusion in the follow paragraphs.

From reading many threads on this topic, I realized this problem is not as systematic as it seems, it does not have a pattern on how it occurs; each person gets stuck on different map. This means it cannot be the problem of the game maps.

I also found out that sometimes I was able access the maps which I got stuck on previously. Then I could get stuck on the same map again later when I tried to access it. The only map I cannot access since the patch is Eternal Battlegrounds. It lead me to think that it’s the problem with the map IP. That means I can only access some layers of this same map. Why is it that other people have no problem accessing this map IP? so it cannot be the map IP itself. There has got to be some thing on my end causing this problem to occur. From this assumption, I tried another test.

I copied my public IP at home, then I took my computer to a public place and acquired the IP from there. It is of course different from my home IP. Also it had a different IP format(my home ip is xx.xx.xx.xx, the other ip is xxx.xxx.xxx.xx). I ran the game. Guess what, I had no problem accessing any of those maps I got stuck on; I can even access Eternal Battlegrounds. Tried other tests, everything was fine; no connection errors whatsoever.

After that test, I was pretty certain it was the conflict between the person’s public IP and the game map IP. When I tried this at home again, my home IP is still the same. Therefore, I got stuck on those maps again. This also explains why some people are able to unstuck their characters by guesting to a different world. It’s not guesting a world, it’s the likelihood of getting access to a different layer of the map. It also explains why people have the same home IP will get this error. And also why resetting the modem, which resets the public IP sometimes, could get your character unstuck.

If what I am proposing is correct, I think it’s the problem with the programming itself. I still do not understand why ANET made the map IP the same format as my home IP (xx.xx.xx.xx). Coincidence? anyways, hope that helps.

As much as I want the issue to be resolved (my wife and I are having this issue), I highly doubt this is at all related because xx.xx.xx.xx is an entirely valid IP format. I think this is more of a coincidence than anything else. It’s much more likely that the combination of the server you’re getting connected to and path taken to get to those servers are different and it just so happens that the different path and server combination works without issues.

My wife is having more issues than I am. I had issues on Sunday, but haven’t had an issue the past few days. She is still experiencing issues though, here are her details:

Your ISP: Optimum Online
Your location: New Jersey, United States
Your territory or region: NA
Your Game World: Northern Shiverpeaks
The full Error Code: 7:11:3:191:101
The number of characters with the problem: 1 (character name is Tinia, account name is nayru.6123)
The map name(s) on which the character or characters are trying to load: Straits of Devastation

She was also getting a “Cannot connect to the log in server” error a few days ago while already in and playing the game, but I think those have stopped. When that was happening, she couldn’t join parties or view friends/guild list.

In all fairness if it stopped on one specific day for you, I have to ask. Did your router or internet provider reset that night? Because if so it might actually be more evidence to the contrary.

I do not know your situation, but I am just saying, unless you can confirm that did not occur, its a possibility that should be considered. As sometimes in such things it can be even the smallest of things that causes the biggest of problems. And a number of people have confirmed that resetting their routers has temporarily stopped the problem. Whether that means it shifts it to a different part of the map I do not know.

My point is, it has valid points that should be considered. Is it the exact problem? Maybe, maybe not. I do not know since I’ve not taken it upon myself to delve into their code. But I can personally confirm, there is something going on. Because I have literally been stuck in a map, then had a friend, on the same server I use, log in onto my account and move my character out of that map, and then I can play that character again. In fact, two friends of mine have done this, and neither of them has yet to experience these problems.

This means I am more than capable of playing the game as that character. This also means that its not an issue with the account since it can be played in the locales giving me personally problems. In likely the same instance I was using.

That means that there is a problem between my computer and the connection of that specific map. And given that each map has many different instances due to the large number of servers worldwide, meaning each has to have its own location.

Which as he mentioned, would make sense for why a number of people have had success in managing to ‘escape’ these issues by guesting to another server.

The issue might not be the exact same for you, thus why this does not work for everyone, myself included. But if its something that’s effecting most of the people the problem is effecting. Its likely that it would help with the other issues as well, as they likely are related in some way.

Though I would be delighted to hear why it is you think this isn’t the case.

Oh, and one last question. And this is something you do not have to answer as it is a private type of question and I will not expect an reply to it. But I assume you use different computers correct? If you haven’t already, try having her log in to her account on the computer you use, and you use the computer she does. If we are both wrong and this has nothing to do with the issue, then its likely she’ll get stuck on whatever system you use as well and that’s the end of it. Though it would go a long way to help confirm what exactly the problem is if that could be tested over more than just two people.

Can I second the motion that this be considered rather intensely?

She was also getting a “Cannot connect to the log in server” error a few days ago while already in and playing the game, but I think those have stopped. When that was happening, she couldn’t join parties or view friends/guild list.

I never said the format of the IP causes the problem, I just mentioned/wondered why the map IP is the same format as my public IP. With such limited resources, there’s no way I can confirm the IP format is a potential threat to the problem. The only people who can tell you is the dev team because they wrote the codes to decide how the program is run.

My proposal is still the conflict between your computer’s public IP and the game map IP which was explained on my earlier post.

I’m having the same issue for over 2 days now. I entered Lion’s Arch with my main character then I got disconnected and couldn’t login with that character anymore, then I tried logging in with my second character, it went through but then I had to go to Lion’s Arch and then the same problem happened, now I can’t play, both my characters keep getting the error (Code=7:11:3:191:101) when I try to login.
I have had this issue of getting disconnected while loading other areas for a while now so I think there may be a connection to this.
This is very annoying, please fix this!

Patch worked !! Sort of ..
**********************************************************************************
Well I had all the connection issues on multiple toons, and the latest patch from Anet on (08/06/14) did fix my problem. It’s not 100% flawless, but 90% improvement from what it was before. I use to lose connection entering dungeons/ instances or even traveling from map to map. It still happens but within 5 or 10 min, my toon will be back in game, able to enter instances and make my gold once again. Note that within those 5 – 10 min I attempted to enter such instances like two or three times without success. So like I stated before. There are still connection issues but it’s a great improvement from what I had experience before.

I just want people to know that the patch did help some players. Thank you Anet. Hopefully, this problem will be fixed before part 2 of Dragon’s Reach. Imagine people losing connection in the middle of event. Let’s hope for the best.
Go Anet !
********************************************************************************

Update 1

Well after 12 hours, the problem came back for one of my toons. It’s stuck in Fireheart Rise. Was working decent after patch for a few hours, now its in limbo. Oh well.

For how many people are having this issue I feel Anet is failing to adequately respond. Now, I don’t know whether this is due to them focusing on the LS or just because they don’t have the number of people they need on the issue. Either way, this is evidently quite a serious issue as this thread shows. Post after post with people having the same exact issue to the extent there are over 400 posts now relating to it.

Not going to lie, I am frustrated. Not just because I can’t play but because this isn’t an isolated issue and it’s been happening for quite some time. Were it impacting just me, then I wouldn’t be so worried or frustrated, but that plainly isn’t the case. I’m not going to play the “paying customers” card for a multitude of reasons, but I am going to say, I think there should be a stickied topic about this for any more players coming to the forums with this issue as well as any and all information about the issue and what Anet is doing to resolve it or what they might be able to recommend in the meantime for personal fixes (if at all possible).

Hope is but a comfort in which we blind ourselves.

I doubt it’ll be fixed. Time to think about moving on to a different game, I think.

I’ve had this error intermittently since june, but not in the same way as people are having it now. I used to disconnect while playing and get this error, but I never had characters locked out for any amount of time. I just disconnected, instantly went back to the character selection screen, and always managed to log back on straight away. It hasn’t happened very often the last couple of days.

During the weeks when I had these disconnects really frequently, there supposedly was a DDOS attack going on. I have to wonder if the current problems might be the fall-out from that. Maybe a DDOS defense system falsely identifying some people’s IP as part of an attack and blocking their traffic to NCSoft’s gaming servers?

BUT I am using the one that is located in Malchors leap!!!!

Since the begining of the game I am playing without major problems plus I never used port forwarding.

I even changed my game password just in case.

My game is inaccesible. Any OTHER suggestions?

I’m not having this issue, but have been monitoring it due to professional interest (I’m a Network Engineer). Not to discourage your efforts, but there is NO way your public IP address can be in direct conflict with any of Anets server IP addresses. The way IPs are assigned to the public internet makes this impossible.

What you HAVE proved is that your original connection (that includes your internal home network AND the ISP connection of that home network to the internet) is almost 100% a root cause for this failure. I am not placing blame or pointing fingers, but the connection at your home is the difference in your testing…..obviously ANet has changed NOTHING (during the time of your testing at different locations) and so that leaves the connection at your original location as being the only difference. Just to note, some other in this thread have reported fixing this problem entirely by changing their DNS….this IS related to IP addresses, so if it is a DNS issue doing so could correct the problem (i.e. I suggest ALL of you try this).

I am NOT saying that something in the most recent patch has not altered something that has exacerbated this issue (I think it has existed in a limited form for quite a while….tho the few that have said they have had this issue since release are likely confusing the issues due to the generic error code that occurs when the “map corruption/load lockup” happens) as that seems to be quite obvious (more players reporting the failure mode).

Just my 2 cents looking at this issue from the outside.

Note that if this IS due to some DNS issue with specific ISPs Anet will have a difficult time trying to fix it on their end. It is not impossible that both the ISPs have something “quirky” with their DNS routing / updating and Anet has changed something on their end (that obviously works fine with the majority of players) and those 2 things are required to cause this issue (for players with the “quirky” DNS). That is why I suggest eveyrone with the problem change your DNS to point at a KNOWN good DNS source (Google is one) and see if all these issues go away.

I’m not going to quote my original post as it’s gotten too long. The DNS servers would make sense as a potential issue. I’m traveling at the moment so I can’t check if I’m using Google DNS at the moment (I was using it at one point, but I forget if I switched off it). I know my wife is using the Optimum DNS., though. I can check mine later tonight when I return from my trip. Ultimately, the reason why I was suggesting what I did was because your ability to connect is based on whatever server your connection has been choosen to connect to by A net and your DNS/ISPs ability to resolve that server and connect to it. When moving to a new location fixes the issue (whether moving locations yourself or having a friend log in for you) this is because while the map your character is on has not changed, the instance server that is connected to will be very likely to change. It’s very possible that the combination of the server chosen and route taken to it happens to work (whether it’s because a different DNS server is used and/or different network routes are taken, that I don’t know). I was merely saying that I don’t think it has to do with an IP conflict itself, because in networking terms as Brother Grimm has already said, that’s not possible. But how the IP address is resolved and the network path taken to that IP does differ from location to location and is much more likely to be the root of the cause.

My connection is NOT the root cause of this problem. In fact, my internet connection is as fine as it can be. To prove you wrong, I have no problem logging into the game and play. I only got stuck on some specific map, but sometimes I can access those maps. And because I cannot access Eternal Battleground at all, I made a conclusion that it has something to do with the map IP. why? different layer of maps are assigned to different map ID, except the WvW maps. WvW maps are locked to one IP for the whole week. Unless you can provide me a better explanation to this, you have not proven me wrong. IF my IP/DNS has not changed, nor has the server map IP, then why is it sometimes I can access them? since the map IP has a same format of regular internet public IP, I believe each map with each layer has its own server host.

All I was saying is that when the game was attempting to connect my IP to some specific server IP, it got rejected and returned a connection error message. However, neither IP has a problem in itself, that lead me to think it’s the problem in the program codes.

note: we should not be forced to change our DNS in order to play the game. It’s not a feasible solution. First of all, it is not our problem, we (the thousands of us) have a stable working internet connection. Second, how are you going to deal with tens of thousands potential new players in the future who’s having the same issue?

Food for thought. My husband just got stuck on his mains in Blazeridge Steppes. I suggested he use his VPN in stead of the regular route. And lo and behold, the toon was able to log in.

Please note: he did not change locations, he did not change computers, he just changed the ROUTE that is used to make the connection (the routing between your regular IP address and the game server is radically different from the routing between the VPN address and the game server).

Please note the following known facts:
- not all characters on the same account get stuck, usually only some characters on some maps are affected. A strong indication client connectivity is not at fault.
- changing client IP does seem to at least temporarily resolve the issue
- the issue also tends to go away after some elapse of time, without anything changed client side
- this is not just affecting Guild Wars 2 but also other NCSoft games.

My theory is therefore that something in the routing goes wrong, and this almost certainly occurs on the server end, either at ANets/NCSoft’s ISP or somewhere between their ISP and their server architecture. Faulty resource allocation in the software may be to blame, but it might also be something as stupid as router issues (either hardware or software) in the data center in which the games are hosted.

Either way, if you’re stuck and have access to a VPN, try if playing through the VPN fixes the issue. It would be interesting if it does in all cases.

Did Anet say anything about this issue from any of the social platforms? i think they just think this is about our network connections so unfortunately it seems they dont take this serious much, we would like to hear a formal announcement which says “friends, we are working on this case and as soon as possible we will solve it, dont worry”…

Since Anet has no clue what is going on I thought I might pitch in a potential fix. Try changing your current DNS to google DNS and see what happens. I’ve been seeing some success so far.

Watch this quick 2 minute video on how to change your current DNS to google’s DNS:

BUT instead of putting in 8.8.8.8, try using 8.8.4.4.
