I get this error message since three or four months now. Its appearance varies – sometimes I get it after 5 seconds, and sometimes after one hour or more.
My (slow but stable) internet connection will get a significant upgrade in the next days, so hopefully things will get better. I’ll let you know.

I have been having disconnect issues like this for quite some time now; in the last couple of days it has gotten worse though. Now I just login, load my character and after about 3 or 4 minutes the lights on my router and my cable modem turn off and reset. I thought about un-installing GW2 and performing a fresh install but I don’t think that will fix it. I play other games like Diablo 3 and SWTOR and do not have any disconnect issues. I have turned off the NETBIOS/over TCPIP setting for my NIC and still have the same issue. The only thing I have not done is reset and reconfigure my router; nothing there has changed so it shouldn’t be a router config issue. I run Vent while playing but the friends i play with do not have these issues. I also run the game as administrator.. Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I had this issue earlier after setting up a new modem/router combo from my ISP (Comcast).

Found a facebook post saying to add /clientport 80 to the end of the GW2 shortcut. That appears to have fixed it for me.

…and of course ten minutes after I posted that I got DC’d again.

I wound up resolving the issue, I think. Time will tell but I was able to put in multiple uninterrupted hours yesterday, unlike before.

I’m on Comcast, and they recently sent me a new wireless gateway; a modem/router combination. It’s an Arris TG862G/CT, and I hate it.

It was blocking off all the ports that GW2 needed. Sadly, port forwarding wasn’t going to be an option simply because both my son and I play GW2, and you can only forward ports to one IP address. In theory, UPnP should have done the trick (as it did on my old Linksys) but it didn’t appear to be, and the Arris just doesn’t offer you the level of control that you’d need to really do much to fix the problem.

I spent a good amount of time on the phone with a Comcast tech discussing options, but ultimately I had to find a workaround on my own.

What I did was plug in my old Linksys wireless router – I connected it directly to the modem via ethernet.

I then went into the settings for the Arris and added a DHCP reservation for the IP address that the Linksys had picked up (so that the IP of the Linksys won’t change).

Following that, I added the IP address for the Linksys to the DMZ of the Arris, so that all the ports would be open to the Linksys.

Since the Linksys is already handling ports via UPnP (and doing it correctly), I didn’t have to worry about any further configuration. The gaming PC’s are on the wireless network broadcast by the Linksys, and other wireless devices in the house are connecting to the Arris.

It’s perhaps not the most elegant workaround, but my only other option was to replace the Arris with something functional, and I just don’t have the spare cash for that at the moment.

I get this error daily. Play for a bit then it starts to pop every 5 minutes or so. Highly annoying while trying to play through a fractal or a world boss train. Never had this issue prior to the Sept update.

I’ve done all sorts of things. Reset the router, new firmware on the router, deleted the .dat file in gw2, used /port 80, did /repair, adjusted my tin foil hat.

Nothing works. Each time it happens I want to smash something.

Well i can honestly say that at first the VPNs seem to extend the time between kicks they dont actually help, also the error has gotten even more annoying and has apparently developed a sense of humor against me in that it kicks me every time i reach the 3rd boss in the last instance of the latest living Story while trying to get the achievements,

Also It seems that the lag experienced at random times and immediately before being kicked is due to the Servers being unable to receive what our computers are sending while our computers are still receiving just fine letting us see what is happening while we look AFK, and then being teleported when the servers start listening to our computers again, I believe that being kicked to the character select screen is caused by either some kind of check in the system to see if the server is receiving data from the computer, or that the servers receive just enough data to know that we are in the map (and sometimes chat) but then it stops getting that data and gets confused.

as a side note I can say that I still have this error after getting my hard-drive replaced and reinstalling GW2 so it doesn’t have anything to do with those, and I have never had this glitch when playing using my friend’s WiFi.

Can I still join parties? Check!
Can I still use the tradepost? Check!
Can I still receive and participate in all chat channels? Check!
Is my location in the guild roster shown as “Unknown”? Check!
Does the actual game no longer respond? Check!

I keep getting those messages now too. I am trying to guest to another server and it just disconnects me . This is a second day that I had the same problem the Op has mention. With me Just randomly losing connection to the game server. It is random as well when it happens.

So pathetic.

And I’ve had 2 disconnects with huge lag @ Silver Wastes and it is literally unplayable. That combined with the nerf to bandit crests, RNGesus to the mordrem body parts, and hardly anyone being there anymore (become a lot less popular due to the nerfs), it’s no wonder people are already moving back to what they normally do.

I’m just gonna go back to WvW. I can’t even play in silver wastes at the moment, and with anet ignoring all the problems, it doesn’t look like anything’s going to be done about it so we might as well just get used to it and try to play the game in our neverending lag of doom.

Pretty frustrated with this myself. Just recently came back, and have been hit by these constant disconnect issues every day. No issues with any other online service or game, only GW2.

Been going back and forth with GW2 support, and they’re now claiming it is an issue with my ISP, but the GW2 diagnostic shows all the issues at their end…

I’ve had this problem for a little over a week now. After doing some searching I found a lot of old posts going back 2 years. And now it’s happening to me. It started with random DC’s and getting an Error Code 5:x and occasionally 7:x, after talking with my ISP (Verizon) they’ve determined it was nothing on their end. I received a new modem and replaced all cables, set ipv4 to static, forwarded all ports, took both Windows and modem firewalls down to test, even had the in-house line checked out. There’s absolutely nothing on my end. I’ve done all the shortcut fixes they have said in those posts and nothing resolves the issue. Here’s a link of my ping path that clearly shows A-net having a problem with my ISP. There’s nothing I can do but wait for A-net to fix their problem. :/

This has been happening to me as well. I did submit a ticket on it and they’ve asked me to run the diagnostic and submit it to support. After reading all your posts, this does not give me much hope. I get disconnected daily anywhere from a couple to a couple dozen times. I agree with all the sentiments about this killing the enjoyment of this game, particularly when the disconnect comes near the end of a long hard personal storyline, so I get to repeat the episode again and again and again.

Same problem here after log in to the game I have huge lag (which I never had – this is 1st time, it starts about 7 days ago after patch) and after few minutes disconnect with error 7:11:3…. and so on. Please do something with that cause game is completely unplayable

I concur with this dc issue. I will load into a zone on a character and disconnect when the map tries to load. I can log in to another character(s), same exact one, and load completely fine. If I do a character select, the other character will not load. If I repeat it a couple more times, the “glitched” character finally loads. I have found no consistent reason (e.g. zone, character) that would explain anything. I’ve had it happen for Personal Story instances (not even new content), LA and SW all on multiple characters.

I have not been keeping detailed track of the error codes, but there have been at least 4 different codes all saying its a connection issue on my end which clearly it is not since I can log right back in on another character (map dependent too).

hey i have had the connection issue happen to me in the past but it has always cleared up on its own. today it is not. i cant get into the load screen without the connection error red print happening over and over. i have to go into task manager to shut it down. and yes i have tried all the usual things. just wondering what was going on today?

Hello,

I’m getting this error a lot lately (see topic title). I can play for 5 minutes before I get first DC. If I restart GW2 I can maybe play for 15 min or less before the next DC happens.

Strange thing:
If I don’t play gw2 I can stay online with steam, browsing on the internet,… but if the error code happens my steam also goes offline. And it only does that when I want to play GW2.

I haven’t played a lot last few weeks and this isn’t making it any better…

If anyone has a solid solution for this let me know

Error 7 is losing connection to the login server, but if it actually disconnects you from other online services (steam, etc) then your router or modem is getting too hot or failing.

When it does this next time, watch the lights on the router and modem, if either one of them blinks on the power light, it is restarting and that is the one that can’t handle all the data streams from gw2. You may have to replace that one.

I don’t think it is.

My televisions keeps working and I can keep going online with my tablet. It’s just my laptop that get this DC. and only when “trying to” play guild wars 2.

This is getting frustrated.

I have the same issue as well. As the OP stated, i can play for 10 mins tops before it kicks me back to the character selection screen. Then if i try to play again it kicks me out after 1 minute.

GW2 is unplayable for me at the moment due to this error :-(

I’ve never had problems before by the way, for me this error started like 3 days ago

Dc every 2-10 Min with the same error code. Since 2 Days
Ts und rest of my internet is stable in background at the same time.

Update:

I only get it in PvE and PVP. In WvW so far, i’ve had no problems at all.

Edit: To bad i can only play during off-time cause when there is even a tiny queue, i get kicked before i make it in :-(

I’m having the same issue. A couple days ago, it started in Silverwastes, and several times I had to just stop because I couldn’t do anything there – not even leave. Yesterday it also started in the Silverwastes. As of now, the character I had there usually doesn’t get past the loading screen, and when I get past that, a moment later I start to dc. I managed to at least get to HotM, but I can’t get to the portal back to LA from there.

Jumping onto my other characters who haven’t been to the Silverwastes, I can usually play for a bit longer, about 10 minutes at best.

EDIT: I think it may have something to do with a windows update… I used system restore to a point two days ago, and so far the game’s working fine. Been in WvW for 30 minutes, zerg v zerg combat, and no problems.

I’m getting the same error code. The last couple days I have been getting some lag and many disconnects to the char select screen. Most of the time I just hit the play button and I’m right back in game.

I’m running Win8.1 and had an update just before the problems started.

Well, the only thing I did recently was updating win8 pro to 8.1… it might have to do something with that maybe?

The “Wifi data led” on my modem is flickering while playing those 10 minutes so nothing wrong with my internet.

IF they have an “error code” why can’t they solve it?

EDIT:
I just reinstalled the game and nothing has changed. Still having issues with the same error. Unplayable! (week 3 already)

According to this report, your connection is suffering from packet loss. If you are not familiar with this term, it simply means the loss of data while in transit from point A (your computer) to point B (our servers). What this means is that either not enough information was received by our servers, the information that was received was corrupted, or it wasn’t sent at all.

So how does this affect you?

In-game: The game is trying to adjust your position to your last known location or attempting to re-send that data over and over, but too much is being lost in transmission. Now, because Guild Wars 2 is a client/server setup, the server is always considered right (this is a security measure to prevent cheating/hacking). Thus, the game is forced to adjust your location to where the server last thought you were. This causes your character or NPC’s to “snap back” or “rubberband” between the two sets of information (one set from your client, another from the server). Since they are fighting (in a manner of speaking) over who is right, your character or NPCs will appear to teleport back and forth while this “fight” for control happens. Then, if not enough data is received over time, the game will likely disconnect you because it thinks you are no longer active.

Installing and/or updating: In terms of installation or updating the game client, the data being sent to patch your client is becoming corrupted if it arrives, or simply not arriving at all. This prevents you from obtaining the patch files intact. Thus, the download either has to keep retrying over and over to get valid data, or it simply errors out and stops the installation if enough attempts to get the information fail.

Because the loss of data is happening prior to it reaching our game servers, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance. I would highly recommend sending them these results so they can visually see the issue you are suffering from.

I also submitted a ticket.
I hope the answer is not the same for me, otherwise this will be the end of guild wars 2 for me since internet providers can’t be bothered with it if the signal is good (which it is, only not for gw2)
