In the last 3 weeks I think only 4 or 5 days when this didn’t happen.
For me it happens ONLY during that time interval and it’s weird, any other aplication works perfectly , my internet connection is stable.

Sometimes when I click “Log in” it just keeps loading and loading and I get an error. And if I do finally log into to game, it just keeps lagging (I can’t see the parties in LFG and I get an error: Lost connection with the server).

It is down. MY ISP (Telia) says: CONTACT NCSOFT, tell them to contact US. Me as private person could not affect them to do anything with that server, the company using the service have to contact them (in this case NCSoft).
I have sent a support ticket but got default answer back (run Game Advisor application). That do however not make the backbone server restart or Telia to take actions.
Ncsoft have to take actions and contact ISP (Telia).

I’m in California (my provider is AT&T U-Verse) and transferred this account to Kodash a few months ago, knowing that I’d get some skill delay due to the distance. At first I had little issue, the skill lag seemed normal, and then didn’t play for like a month. I log in the past week and I get this same exact experience. All the while I am pinging the IP I am connected to and average 179ms connection. Yet the in-game experience is that I activate a skill and sit there for 25 seconds or more waiting and waiting and waiting for something to happen. If I move I get teleported back constantly. Eventually the game “catches up” and all the buttons I’ve been hitting go through, in a similar manner as to what happens sometimes in large fights in NA Prime on Fort Aspenwood. Sometimes I end up dead. Even typing /ip is delayed. I’ll try to make a video of it because this is not network to me, this is something with the servers and the latest patches that have been put in place. I’d say it happens during large fights, which is mostly true, yet it also has happened when I logged in around 7am CET and there’s almost no one on.

As far as it goes for those that use Telia´s server on IP 62.115.43.74 as last step before ncsoft, here are the latest news I have got:
Techs (TeliaSonera) estimate that the problem should be resolved 2015-01-02 (second of January)
In regards to the pathping and your instructions, im getting access denied when typing that.
This is with windoows 8.1
Any word on the problem and a hopefull fix soon? Because this wonderfull game is unplayable in prime time atm.

Are you guys running it as an administrator or user? If it’s user, yes, access will be denied. When trying to run “cmd” right click on it and select “Run as administrator” and you will be allowed to run it.

i think the problem for me is with l0.milnit1-cr1.bbnplanet.net [195.16.160.17] node on the path to gw servers.
on a test a few days ago i had 40% packet loose after 30-40 min of playing/testing. in this period of course i could not play the game. got disconnected twice and had lags all over the place
it starts almost every day around 17-18 GMT and is like that for a few hours. ANET directed me to my ISP with
“Because the loss of data is happening prior to it reaching our game servers, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance.”
i’m guessing my ISP won’t do anything either. so these hours i won’t be able to play the game.
Can someone please tell me how dozens of countries all across Europe having the same issue can be ISP related? This is not ISP this is server side.
I’ve been in the game when the lag hits and EVERYONE/EVERYTHING freezes… but I’m still having chat with everybody. I have screenshots of complete conversations while in game and everything frozen but chat still completely connected. Also while using the BLTP fully functionally… IN GAME. How. Is. This. Possible?
This is not an ISP issue I hope Anet stops trying to ‘pass the buck’ and attempt to figure it out because it’s so frustrating there’s no point in playing GW2 from 18:00-00:00 (which is the only time most of us can play).

I’m not able to log-in without WTFast atm, but with it, everything’s working just fine. Why is a 3rd party program instantly fixing what ANET’s been clueless about for months?

Was in game with no lag for hours and bam 18.00 primetime hit then instant freezes lag etc then DC like usual and couldnt log in.
I folded and downloaded WTfast. Could log in again with no problem and have been playing for 1 hour now with no lag/freezes whatsoever, first time in 1-2 months i have been able to play in primetime……
So wth, pardon the french, is going on here? A 2 min download/install fixed a 2 month problem. Can any1 explain why that is?

Imagine driving from point A to B. Halfway through, you encounter a roadblock that causes traffic to slow down. If you would have taken the scenic route, you could have avoided the roadblock and ended up at your destination faster although it would have normally taken longer.
That’s why a VPN can fix your problem and why ArenaNet can’t. The problem isn’t with the servers, it’s with one or more of the connections to NCSoft’s datacenter. They have multiple connections to various networks, which is why some people are affected and not others. By using a VPN, you can attempt to reroute your connection through one of the other networks. A VPN will also encrypt your connection, which will help if you’re “accidentally” being throttled.
Disconnected from wvw ~50 mins ago and still unable to login back…horrible lags and dcs happens each day at evenings…annoying…
With WTFast I can login and play without problems. Lol.

Because you don’t know how the internet works.
The reason that program works is because the packets take a different path to the GW2 servers than the path that your ISP is using (by a proxy server). All it takes is ONE messed up node in the path to the game servers and the game is going to have issues. WTFast takes a different path to the GW2 servers. The fact that the game works using that program should tell you that the game servers are working fine AND that the problem is internet/ISP related.
Furthermore, A-net has no control over the path from your computer to the game servers. In addition, A-net monitors their servers (all online games do) and they will be the FIRST to know if there’s a server issue.
so theres a lot of messed up nodes lately in whole europe and they still not being fixed? thats my pathping taken today at primetime

Come on guys please get on the phone with these people and get this fixed. Two straight days again of completely unplayable. And my router is going to blow up from recycling the power 2,000 times a day. :/
Actually if the solution is as easy as setting up a vpn why are you not just doing that so we can play the game anet?

Well I would assume since we run a client on our side it could determine the route we are taking originally and if problems are arising it could attempt to send us through a different route. Not saying I have done anything like that, but no reason it’s not possible.
even so you still might end in another node that has problems. looks like a lot of these nodes have problems. for now im using proxifier to connect to a friend from a different ISP that does not route packets through my normal route.

Well I would assume since we run a client on our side it could determine the route we are taking originally and if problems are arising it could attempt to send us through a different route. Not saying I have done anything like that, but no reason it’s not possible.
You can’t just choose the route you take because it’s automatic. When you send out a packet, each hop/router in your route decides where to send it next. These routers will adapt as the network changes. When one router goes down, other routers will begin to exclude that route. Not all routes are dynamic however as the internet is not fully autonomous and how it’s setup is determined by its owner.
When you use a VPN, your route changes because you’re changing your destination. Instead of sending packets to GW2’s servers, you’re sending it to the VPN’s server which then relays it to GW2. If ArenaNet simply started a VPN using one of their servers, it would have no effect as your route wouldn’t change. It would help however if you were affected by a specific type of software throttling.

he was referring that the client on our side to work as a tunneling program also. which could be useful for when we have problem with nodes on the routes.
Game worked well during christmas time, but since New Year it fell back into it’s old routine 18:00-22:00 lag fest. It’s ridiculous it’s 3 + month long issue without improvement.
Time to do my “daily” pathping record and then test out some other game.

Since Telia servers are the last hops before the NCSoft Servers might i recommend… contact your ISP Anet? Standard techsupport answer in your face.
Oh and a last bit for a complete picture.

As Anet is not customers of Telia (as far as I know), they cant really push Telia to do something.
But… I am one gw2 player, with Telia as ISP. No steps in the middle. So either it is something with Ncsofts servers AND/OR Telia´s.

Pong, I didn’t mean to offend you. My point was that if our gear was down I would definitely be alerted and be busy repairing it.
As far as I know we’ve heard nothing from Telia so I’m not sure where you’re getting your information. Can you elaborate on what the fix is that’s coming? Is it a fix with Telia’s gear?

I got refered to Premium Support (which costs 2 euro or 2.42 USD /min, max charge 63.47 euro or 76.42 USD). I am not sure if I should call or not (only open 9-16 workdays)
I am not giving this issue a rest. I have contacted Telia once again. The called me abt 7.5h ago with the edit in quote. It became reset/weekend and server went down on knees and lag is too terrible.
Game worked well during christmas time, but since New Year it fell back into it’s old routine 18:00-22:00 lag fest. It’s ridiculous it’s 3 + month long issue without improvement.
Time to do my “daily” pathping record and then test out some other game.
I’m with you mate! This trash is unplayable again, like every evening recently!
I can’t log in atm! And if it sucess I get the Connection Lost message in my face after a few min.
I won’t write any pathping, trace route logs or etc crap cuz i tired of it and unnecessary!

Having disconnects the last 3 weeks as well. Recently it became much much worse. Whenever i load into a hub (LA, HotM) i get an instant DC. In other zones it takes 30 seconds longer…
Game is unplayable, tried reinstalling, didn’t work. My internet is normal, other games work normally (even GW1)

Another day, again at evening gw2 servers are down/malfunctioning. Seriously? This isn’t funny anymore.
I can pretty much sync my clock to this event.
At 6 PM I lose connection with the game server. I’m also logged out from this forum. Everything else is working fine; other online games and various IP addresses I try pinging.
Usually it’s a very short DC, a minute or so, but a couple of times every week, I can’t connect to GW2 for a couple of hours, starting at 18.00.

PS, I have the same issue with Wildstar. Both NCSoft games being a conincidence? I think not.
are they gonna ever fix this? its beyond ridicilous how kitten the servers are atm… game is literally unplayable spamming Error Code: 42:0:9001:4409:101 when trying to login and when u finally get ingame after 1000th try u get 10 second skill delay… and please stop this “call yous ISP” crap because its obvious that the problem somewhere else… can we start having refunds even after 2 years because its so kitten sad that u cannot play during evening because of this… i can understand 1 week of this because of something went wrong but its been months and still counting…

Same here, in Romania. It’s completely unplayable. Constant DC and horrible lag when you do manage to log on. I actually used to buy gems and stuff and I was thinking about one of the promotions on sale. But yeah, that’s not gonna happen any time soon if ever again. It’s getting ridiculous, how frustrating trying to play this game has gotten. I’m about ready to give up on it. Back to DA:I and probably gonna try Divinity.

So far it’s 100% sucess in failure this year….. uh oh, sorry for this oxymoron.
It seems everytime online population grows up towards peak hours, game starts to hickup and eventually stops to be accessible for 30 minutes to 4 hours. Every day around 18:00. Until peak hours are over.
Fortunately for NCSoft GW2 is “buy 2 play” so they won’t lose subscribers even if they won’t fix it. People eventually stops to play, but it won’t involve the income much, except the purchases of shinies from the shop. For any paid mmo game this would be a suicide.
I can’t understand it. Whole development team had to put a lot of skill and effort to make this project alive, not mentioning massive cost for development and maintenance. How it’s possible there’s no executive manager able to put this issue into high priority ? It’s killing reputation of the team as a whole.

It’s the same thing, using a VPN is tunneling. In order to create a tunnel, you require someone else to act as the server, the middleman between you and ArenaNet.
Fortunately for NCSoft GW2 is “buy 2 play” so they won’t lose subscribers even if they won’t fix it.
NCSoft’s EU datacenter is experiencing connection problems to certain EU networks. It’s not just GW2 that is affected. WildStar has a subscription and is also affected. Now what?
The likely scenario is that there is a bad route somewhere on the EU networks, which ArenaNet has no control over. All they can do is gather evidence, try to pinpoint it and then inform the network. The problem could be on NCSoft’s side however with one of their routers or connections. If that were the case however, I would have expected them to fix it by now considering it’s affecting connections from entire networks to their entire datacenter.
I left the game in November due to this, and I see its still not fixed. Epic Anet, just Epic.

Fourth day of the new year and lag is back again. So far 100% success. Congratulations. This time one hour sooner than normal. That’s not an improvement.
Same for me. 5 PM instead of 6. That was unexpected.
A couple of hours playing another MMO then. See you later.
EDIT: After two hours I could log in again. Played for a bit, started to get extreme lag and eventually DC. Automatically logged out of this forum at the same time, as usual.
Again, no problems with other IP addresses.
