This happens for me constantly.
Sometimes I’ll play for a while and there’ll be no issues, but sure enough eventually trying to turn with the right mouse button starts working only half the time…or worse.
I seem to have relatively little problem turning when there’s nothing going on around me. The more mobs/people around me, the harder it is to get right mouse turn to work. In WvWvW especially during hectic siege situations (Just the time you don’t want your mouse to have problems naturally) it is a consistent problem, with right mouse turning working perhaps 25% of the time for me if even that.

My only other suggestion would be to disable/uninstall your 3rd party mouse drivers (Logitech Setpoint, Razer Synapse, etc.) and try running on the built-in MS mouse driver. This could be a [new?] issue regarding driver compatibility with the game; just a shot in the dark here.
Seeing a whole lot of Razer issues in this thread. Others are not listing their mice or which driver they are using. You guys need to list your hardware and software.

Targeting and camera controls in this game are currently pretty terrible.
What’s sad is that a F2P game like Sevencore has better targeting and camera controls.
How exactly is the targeting terrible? Sounds like user error, tbh.
There are bindable keys for Closest Enemy, Next Enemy, Previous Enemy, Next Friendly, Previous Friendly, Self, Mark Target, Acquire Target, and more. It is very similar if not exactly the same as GW1, which has worked just fine for 7+ years. Other MMOs are the same or have less options.
There are more options than just “TAB,” ya know. Helps to check the control settings.
(Oh, and the camera is controlled in 3D by the mouse…how much more control do you need? 4 dimensions? Lol.)

Exact same issues using a Logitech mx518.
While strafing, releasing a button causes the mouse pointer to occasionally appear in second monitor, which causes game to minimize.
RMB clicks regularly fail to register, leaving me standing in the fire far too often.
Mouse works perfectly in every other game / application.
This behavior seems to have gotten worse since the patch early this week.

Tried both. Doesn’t matter. It’s clearly a game issue since every other application and game I use has absolutely no issues.

I am relieved to find that this is a common problem, I was already thinking that my mouse was breaking.
It’s a Logitech MX400 and I am running Setpoint (Win7 64bit).

That’s what I was looking for, thanks. I have seen a few more posts popping up about this issue on the forum. I would hope A.Net is fully aware of this issue (submit bug reports ASAP if you haven’t) as it seems more people are starting to be affected by this. Either that or you guys played too much Diablo 3 and all wore out your mouse buttons. :P

What happens when you reattach the old mouse? Does the issue return, or does it remain gone?
If the issue returns, the next step would be to try the affected mouse on a separate PC. If there is no issue on a separate PC, I would tend to blame the original systems mouse or USB drivers. If the issue persists on the other PC, more than likely your RMB has worn out. This does happen, guys – I just replaced a mouse due to this. It was my Logitech G700 after only 1 year of use (has 3 year warranty). The RMB developed issues with registering clicks (sometimes it wouldn’t register at all, other times it would double click when I single’d, etc.). This is why testing with a different mouse and/or PC is important. The Logitech mouse I had before my first G700 (Revolution VX), wore out the LMB after a couple years, which they also replaced under warranty, and is the main reason I buy Logitech mice (and other products – their Customer Support is amazing).

For me the problem goes away entirely if I use a wired mouse. It has to be wired though – I tried another wireless one (also a different make – not Logitech like my usual mouse) and the problem is still there. I would rather not use my crappy wired mouse though…

This sounds like it could be an interference issue; only affecting wireless eh?

Currently experiencing this same issue with my Razer Naga. Very very frustrating. Have tried a number of things to try to rectify this. Hesitant to buy a new mouse given that this problem appears to be wide spread.

This bug has been present for me for a fair bit now and seems to be getting WORSE.
Please take a look at it. I honestly have to try 4+ times to get to right mouse click turn sometimes. Happens even more the more other people are around me.

Yes, Please fix this. It started a week ago, and is making playing the game difficult when the primary way of movement is taken away.

Maybe related when I hotkey strafe and enable the controls to follow my toon, sometimes it does the REVERSE and does NOT follow me, if I log on with another toon it does with it disabled. I think there is a serious bug somewhere in the movement strafe left right controls.

This has been happening to me, have tried all the mice in my house and same exact thing. Only happening with Guild Wars 2 and its very random. Have all current drivers, have upped DPI, lowered DPI no change. It has cost me my life in WvW and speciall jumping puzzles when it likes to let go right as you need to jump a certain direction.

Could be – but that would imply very odd (i.e. intolerant) coding from AN, since it doesn’t affect any other program. It is still something that needs to be fixed by AN I think.

Hi,
Same behavior with my system as well.
The game does not always notice the RMB (right mouse button) is pressed down and I have no control of the camera.
It also happens a lot when strafing (using A and D keys) and pressing RMB.
Even when keeping the RMB pressed down the game intermittently ‘glitches’ and my camera view starts rotating as if my RMB was not pressed at all.
I had the same problem for a while in Beta Testing, but then it disappeared after launch and was working fine until just recently. I am guessing a faulty SW update / patch.
Extremely frustrating in combat.
A-NET please fix this!!!

Update:
After yesterday’s patch, the RMB problem seems to not be nearly as bad…so not completely fixed but much better than earlier…at least for me.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw this topic; I have the same issue. I actually ran out and bought a new mouse thinking it was my mouse. But yes, I have this happen quite a bit, its like the RIGHT button can’t quite grip the screen/game, and I press harder and still………….

Just posting to hopefully increase the chances of getting a response from ANet or having the issue fixed. But i’m having the same issue with using the right mouse button to turn.
Sometimes it’s to the point that it’s unplayable (and since I have two monitors the mouse sometimes goes out of the game and over to the other monitor and thus minimizes the game :S)

Same issues here with a Rat5 mouse. Tested with ventrilo key clicks. Right click never actually deactivates when it loses focus in game.

Magically on Monday night this was a non-issue and was working 90% of the time after not functioning correctly for weeks. After the recent update it is worse than ever.

I’m thinking it must be a driver issue. I’m using the Logitech Performance MX and simply do not have anything like this issue.
Make absolutely sure you’re using the latest SetPoint software.
Make absolutely sure you have the latest Unifying software for the USB receiver.

Really doubt its a driver issue. I have a Saitek mouse that’s on up to date drivers/software. Right click never actually stops being pressed and continues to function in everything else when it happens. On top of that you can hold left+right mouse and do the “keyboard free” directional running. Right click never drops out, and suddenly turns into you just panning the screen with mouse1.
Its gotten a lot worse with the last few GW2 patches. PvP etc… is actually unplayable as you never know when the games going to register the camera movement. Also the game stops retaining your mouse cursor so sometimes I’ll get tabbed out on my second monitor with my shell menu open :/

This is happening to me as well. Logitech G500. First 2-3 days of playing the game were great, no problems whatsoever. Over the last 48 hours this issue has rapidly been getting worse and worse. At this point my necromancer is unplayable due to the issue and my main (ranger) seems to be approaching the same level of unplayability (how strange that it affects different characters to varying degrees, even with a different mouse). If this isn’t fixed or at the very least acknowledged I’m going to have to pursue a refund.
I don’t even mean that as a veiled threat, as I would love to continue playing this wonderful game … unfortunately I cannot do that and I can’t justify spending $60 on something I cannot use as intended. I do not have this issue in any other game.

I sort of have the issue, but I have found that when your mouse pointer hovers an NPC or player, it either will not allow you to Pan, or go off an select the person.
Overall, GW2 is great and I think it’s doing well with a great launch, but some of these bugs really need to get addressed.
I can’t tell you HOW easy it is to RightClick+Pan and select a mob because the mouse pointer in the game is WAY OVER to sensitive to clicks. I constantly select other players/NPCs all the time I never meant to click.

Still no response from Arena yet? This is sad I love every other aspect of this game, but when I can not play due to this problem I get frustrated and begin looking elsewhere and I’d rather not have to do that.

This is a game issue – which I am actually suffering from now. I wasn’t when this post started, that’s for sure. Some update or something has broken proper mouse support.
This is on a brand new Logitech G700 (I replaced my old one with a new one 2 weeks ago due to ACTUAL button issues).
I don’t even run Setpoint software – the mouse has onboard memory and I just loaded my old profile to the new mouse via my Laptop (that’s where I keep Setpoint installed as I don’t want bloatware on my PC).
Needs fixing.

This alone proves that it’s not mouse-related but is instead some issue with the game.
Strange issue indeed…still not sure why some people have this problem while others don’t, and how I just started being affected by this within the last couple of days.

Just thought I’d chime in here and report I’m having this issue now as well, its just started recently as I never had this issue before. Mouse loses focus after holding either mouse button for 3 or 4 seconds. I am using a Razer Mamba in wired mode, using their current drivers. I notice I can correct the problem if I minimize the game client, open the Razer software, and change the sensitivity. I usually just bump it up a notch, hit apply to update the mouse, then move it back to my preferred DPI and hit update again. So thankfully I have a workaround, otherwise this would be unplayable. I hope there is a fix in the works for this, it’s a big pain to have to go through these motions every time I launch the game.

I’m having the same problem, the issue seems to be that -
When using right click to control turning, the location of the mouse passes over npcs/players the turn action is interrupted/slows. The more NPC’s/Players around the more this happens.
This bug is extremely irritating and only appeared for me after my return from holiday on 28/09/12, prior to 14/09/12 it was fine, so this bug has appeared during a patch in that time for me.
I will also submit this post as a bug report.

Happening to me atm,4 in the morning world is pretty empty,so I would guess lag is not the issue.
Some info, started happening to me 12 hours ago out of the blue,no patches,no lag,was doing a jumping puzzle alone.
Mouse works on other applications…will do more tests

With this new patch I can’t play, the camera keeps letting go at the drop of a hat now. Took me 5 minutes actually a little more then that at one time to get the right mouse button to grab the camera so I could even move forward with the mouse controls.
