Downed state is fine and adds another element to the game. I have no issues with it in wvw at all.
There are multiple AOE abilities which effect more than 5 players (EL Fire Staff 5 being the most obvious one).
Cesmode, the role that I think you would enjoy the most in wvw is that of a scout. They wander around and generally keep an eye upon one particular area. At times this is rather boring and has little action but is a vital role to successful wvw.
You can turn off your chat and team if you really must but I would suggest still keeping in touch with a commander via tells. Providing them with accurate and useful intelligence is vital.
Yea then people would start throwing matches so they can drop back to win against lower tiers.
Next thing people will be wanting chests from keeps! Well it sure will save on upgrades since we can then play musical keeps like people did in Warhammer.
In all honesty.. i’d guard a Dolyak if they where not so easy to kill. Even a very small group can bomb a dolyak in the midst of a much larger group actively trying to defend it. Even with guards its a joke to bomb them.
I can’t agree as a long time DAOC player. Jade Quarry has a large Daoc population and we have been growing the community and the cooperation that we did not see as much of in Daoc. Why? Cause in Daoc the more you rvr’d the more isolated you became into little cliches. What started as a great community and realm pride became diluted into a chase for the most spam, fast rr, and just general kill farming.
I’ve fought against a server with 3 orbs and by being organized we where able to take them back.
I can see from loot bags and even damage done that often there are many out there who are not level 80 (in fact many who are under 30). While players are buffed up its not the same as even a level 50-60 with gear. They are still missing huge chunks of their stats.
Changes to WvW which would greatly benefit the overall feel of the pvp.

Fall damage – Slot the falling trait otherwise no change is needed
It doesn’t even always seem to be immediately upon finishing an enemy always either. Its just annoying at times having to hunt around for bags on the ground.
No the top match up is only been close in potential points and the #2/3 slots. As stated the problem is one of snowball effect that it becomes exponentially harder to recover from any screw ups. At last count it on sunday it would take being +50 points per tick for the next 5 days to recover huge gains made.
TBH I’d rather they just got rid of the scoring and ticks all together for players. They can do that all behind the scenes but it just becomes demoralizing particularly in the longer matchs.
What the poster was commenting about DAOC if translated to GW2 would mean the more Orbs you hold the weaker your keep/guards/etc would be.
Basically by the end of the first 24 hours is almost surely going to decide the match in their favor unless the match is a very close one. Changing how long the ticks are only changes how big the numbers become.
Another common fallacy is people will assume the 2 weaker servers will gang up on the stronger one. The reality is (and years of daoc showed this to be true) the opposite is more often the case.
