I loved the exciting approach, Since the ambush in the palace party, the battle against the traitor. And the 2nd mission at Caudecus mannor was also quite moving. I like the plot depth of this chapter.

How does GW2 works in Steam?

Adngel.9786

Hi there.

I wanted to ask about executing GW2 with the Steam client. I have friends there and I like to chat over there, also I find it another subtle way to encourage them playing it when they see that I’m playing it.

However, I’m fearing that Steam client may do anything to the GW2 executable that may be consider a 3rd party violation. ¿any feedback about that? O.ò

Also, does anyone knows if using the Steam client may affect the GW2 conexion stability? (My ping use to be fine, I get disconexion when I join to the massive maps, in the final battle of Dragon Deffense, Tarir battle, the T4 in the night event, etc…), but apart of that, I don’t have any other problem and I never have any noticeable lag). Would Steam affect this on a worring way?

Need more story, starving here.

That’s what I think has been missing in GW2: HoT, the “Epic Feeling”, I enjoyed the GW2 Hot as a GW2 fan, I love my characters and it’s nice to have new content and has brought some interstings activities, but beyond like that, HoT looked just a content addition (smaller than expected), it didn’t looked anything impressive nor unmissable. And for friends and partners, they were more curious for the Season 2 than for the expansion, :S

Anyway, I hope they archieve better things in the 2nd expansion, as for the 3 season, I know it won’t be released this trimester but at least I yes would like more data, trailer, screenshots or such… Q.Q

In the Art book of GW2, they mention that writers had difficulties with Eir character, they didn’t like she were so dramatic (blaming herself for Snaff’s death and abandon her son), as it could make her too much boring to be a Norn player’s mentor.

Maybe their dislikes for the character kept growing and decide give her a final end… >D

Since my point, I’m still receiving Ectos from yellos and exotic. I always use the yellow savage kit of 15 plates. Sometime a yellow item doesn’t drop anything, other times, they drop 2 or 3 ectoplasms. My perception is that from 10 items, I got ectos from 7. I’m happy with it.

How Much Money Have You Invested Into GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Adngel.9786

Adngel.9786

95 Pounds in the GW2 collector’s edition
79.55 Pounds in the GW2:HoT ultimate version
—————-
174.55 Pounds.

The difference between gems and MMO suscriptions, is that if you don’t buy gems, you can still playing the game, but if you don’t pay the suscription…

Also, when you buy gems, you are able to obtain an inmediate product, (a new costume, new weapon, a service, etc…), but with the suscription, you don’t. You just pay a permission to can keep playing in that month.

Jumping puzzles and where they are located.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Adngel.9786

- When you go levelling, around the 20 few, you are told about the existence of jumping puzzles.

- About of it, there is also the achivement panel as Knighthonor says.

- But the most usual way to disvover them, is the chat, with people speaking about them or asking for mesmers to teleport them into the final chest.

Like many other things, there are players looks like to be playing blindly and just running from target to target. GW2 is a game to explore, enjoy with freedom. To have anyone sending me from A to B like a messenger, there are tons of game out there.

Nightfall CE vs Heart of Thorns

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Adngel.9786

Adngel.9786

How can you compare the work need to develope GW1:Nightfall, with the work needed to develop GW2:HoT?

We have just seen one part of one of the maps of GW2:HoT, and leaving on a side if the design liked or not. There was not any doubt about it having a higher visual quality.

GW: Nightfall was a high graphic improvement over GW:Prophecies and GW:Factions, their terrains used a lot of more prefabs to build the walls, mountains, temples and buildings. It stopped to looks a terrain and more an environment. That change, required more modellers, texturers and designers working more hours.

GW2:Hot we see that aspect increase, more objects with more quality, more textures (not just the coloured one, they also use specular, normal maps and masks). Also it looks to show more different enemies mechanics what also demmands more development effort. (We have just seen one part of the first map, and we have already seen 2 bosses with custom effects).

GW Nightfall was my favourite expansion of Guild Wars 1. But I don’t think it were close the work to develop it as the work to develope a map of GW2:Hot. Therefor, I see logic that this new one, results in something more expensive.

Just try to build a copy one of GW:Nightfall and another copy of the GW2:Hot map. You won’t take too much time to see the difference work quantity that have between them.

Devs communicating on other forums

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Adngel.9786

Forums are communities, and each one is different and changing, a same message can be treated differently deppending of the community.

As these forums are the officials, that fact attract a lot of people to face it as an direct communication door with the company, for the good, and for the bad. So the words that staff can share here, always have to be more cautious, than when they are speaking in a fan forum or fan page where the community use to be more possitive. The risks that the message were deal as an offense is lower in certain groups at certain times.

I don’t think they had to be forced to announce every speech that any member post on whatever page. The company is already sharing their information of the game with the bloggs and announcements, while the fans are already collecting the separated info from different websites to update the official wiki of the game. I see it enough.

Challange, defend the HoT expansion price

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Adngel.9786

Adngel.9786

I’m a bit confused with all this topic of he price.

- On one side, the fact that they gift the core version, it’s a nice step because it stop the tiring fact of people being force to buy all the previous chapters to play the last one, if that practices continue and got extended, would be very nice for the newcomers.

However, it’s a bit, “unfair” for the people who already got the core game, as they don’t get anything in exchange…

- Also, I miss the lack of art book and figure. T_T my poor Rytlock will remain alone. So having all digital adittions, really discourage me to go for the high editions.

- About the price of the standard edition, I haven’t got any problem with it, I read that there are people who expected the expansion be under the 20€, but I was not one of them, so find the 45 was not any surprise for me, and I haven’t got any doubt that HoT will entertain me the enough time to justify that inversion in that videogame for my leisure time.

Expansion and LS

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Adngel.9786

Adngel.9786

I don’t think they will be available with the HoT expansion.

About the Living Story 1, it is not adapted to be a replayable content, (at least not yet), that’s mean that we can’t replay it, they are not all instanced areas, they were modifications of the public maps, what affected to every players. It’s possible, that in a future, Anet manages to set all it on personal instances and sell the living story for the people who didn’t play it on its time. But, I highly doubt that it will be ready for the HoT release date.

About the Living Story 2, one of the versions of HoT also provides gems that you can use to buy the LS2, costumes, weapons, or whatever you like. I don’t see imposible that they add it a free adittion to the HoT, but that would generate the same problem that they have now with the GW2 core, that would be a difference between the players who hasn’t got it, and the players who yes has it. (Some free, and some who payed for it).

Since my point, I would vote for them adding the LS2 to the Hot, it’s already available for sale at a low price. But well, it’s no up to me.

The game run out of content when you are 80?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Adngel.9786

I know I’m a broken record about it and maybe most people are perfectly happy for GW2 to be just like every other lame-kitten themepark. But so what. I won’t stop advocating for player-driven sandbox features…

… how am I supposed to justify spending my limited free-time in Tyria? I already can’t, more often than not (I did just spend a whole hour or so playing last night, but that’s increasingly rare).

Even if they would want to do that, the content of the game can’t be infinite. They have already set alternative variations that depends of the player choices and are dragged for some part of its personal story, they could go deeper on that and make the options to have more repercussions on more places, characters and conversations, like Mass Effect or Dragon Age, but at the end, we are in the same point. Sometime it will arrive a moment where the player has already played all the content that the game can offer to his interest, and will ask for the “endgame” again like they did with the vanilla version.

We're missing the most obvious legend.

Guild Wars 2 HoT Release Date? [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Adngel.9786

Adngel.9786

I am not saying grab your torches and pitchforks, but as an Anet example I started hearing about Guild Wars 2 coming in 2008. It got released in 2012. That is a long time. A long time for me to sit on info. I just don’t want to see that happen here.

I like the guys that are saying it’s coming in summer but no later then September. That is something I can live with. As far as I can tell it is official speculation. Did Anet give that window tho?

The situation is totally different, and all is explained in the making of Guild Wars 2.

In Guild Wars 1, Areanet had the plan to go releasing new expansions every 6 months, and they did it with Factions, Nightfall, and they were preparing their next expansion, Utopia, however, the plans and ideas collided with the GW1 mechanics, so they decided go to GW2 and its persistent world. But, what would happens with all those fans of GW1 that were waiting for the next expansions every 6 months?, the company, was not such big as to go developing GW2 more new campaigns periodically, so they thought the best would be announce GW2 to explain the why they were not going to continue with the campaigns plan. That was a risky step because the announcement, was done on very early stages of the project. So yes, it the waiting was more “visual” when everyone knew what were they doing.

Here with the expansion, they didn’t started it in January, nor in Augoust, it started a couple of years ago, and the announcement came this January. I suposse that because they had plans to release it between 6 or 9 months.

About the temptative date, along April, Ncsoft finished their fiscal year and forecast predictions, they mention that the GW2 expansion is expected to be released in the 2 quarter of the fiscal year (it’s to say, July – Augoust – September) and shows how they are expecting a huge increment in the Guild Wars sales, which is by the way the second best seller game of Ncsoft after Lineage.

I’m pretty sure that on the E3, they will do the full announcement (they are not going to come and say the date here on a forum post, not a simple blog, when they have the chance to make a proper announcement of it in the event).

We're missing the most obvious legend.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Adngel.9786

Adngel.9786

Maybe in a future, (i suposse that with the next expansion, new legends will be added to the Revenant).

Perhaps Rytlock connected with Ventari because the Maguuma location, or perhaps the Rytlock searched for help against the Mordremoth’s influence and Ventari was who answered the call.

About future heroes, there could be Hayda (no please no), but in more serioues tone, Livia? we still don’t know what kind of sacrifice did she made when she took the Sceptre of Orr, but knowing her, I think it’s possible she was able to left a noticeable mark in the myst.

The game run out of content when you are 80?

Adngel.9786

Sorry, I’m a bit outdated, ¿what are the other things that should had got the end game that would make it a good one?

I heard people saying that the GW2 endgame sicks because there are not raids, so, immagining that they successfully apply raids, (instances of 25 / 40 players.), will that really extend the life eternally? As I see it, it’s the same like current dungeons, when people play them several times, knows them and have already taken all the rewards than the instance can offer, they will have ended and return to the same situation that they are now.

Above getting gear of higher levels, to once you’ve got it, need to find a new gear with higher level than before… that could be a way to keep the people hanging and busy, a kind of “endgame”… but I prefer the current GW2 system, one top, and then can go obtaining more gear for collection purposes when I want, not forced to don’t be behind.

So, is there really any especial thing that GW2 endgame were still lacking? and that thing, ¿is really a solution?.

And for reactions like that is why more and more companies go turning more secretive, very soon videogames will be made by the Order of wishpers.

If they announced the project some months ago to make a pre-launch marketing campaign of 6 – 9 months, actually it’s something very very standard. At least in the videogames industry.

If people can’t manage their emotions after the news, it’s their problems, not the companies.

You do realize they don’t need to completely finish HoT before release date, right? They need to have the Revenant, the specialization and masteries frameworks, the first 1-2 areas and probably guild halls. Everything else can be released on a Living World type cycle of every 2 to 4 weeks.

Stronghold and the WvW changes are outside of HoT and their release dates need not be linked to HoT at all.

It’s a possibility, but I really hope they don’t do that, I’m expecting that the expansion, tells a full story, the battle against Mordremoth, and they leave the living story, for another story that connects this expansion with the next one. (and entertain us during the development time, like the season 1 and 2 has done).

Expect less revives from now on...

Even if they wouldn’t add experience for the mastery, and the ressurrections would not give any reward at all, I’m sure that the impact would be imperceptible.

- The people kittenurrect their partners, they do it for more altruism and teamworking reasons. So surelly they will keep doing.
- The people who don’t resurrect the fallen partners, are not currently interested in the exp and won’t be affected if the resurrection experience would dissapeared. So they are not likely to do it for the lack of experience.

I don’t really think people resurrecting for exp, being anythin numerous.

However, over all that. the experience keep being there, (but instead of higher levels, it will be used for the Masteries) I neither see the huge problem, better that, than the skill points that at the end, only can be used for the Mystic Forge.

Well, I haven’t got an exact plan.

  • Playing in the Silverwastes for events and to kill the Mordred boss, I archieve a lot of items there.
  • Tequalt, I keep giving tries to see if one day I archieve those Ascended weapons. (But for the moment, I’m just keep increasing my spoons collection… with the same single spoon).
  • There are other collections that I’m more active, I’m keep searching for the beers style, the books one and the bandit weapons. I know that I could take a guide and do all of them in one morning, but I’m not hurry, and I’m enjoying more finding a seller in the place that have that item that I needed.
  • Levelling crafting, my characters with Hunter and Weaponsmith have crossed the 400, but the leatherwork is still under the 200. They are the last three crafting that I need to have all of them maximised.
  • Damask roll, Damask roll, and whenever I can, I keep creating other Damsk roll of them, someday I’ll have my 15 for the Scarlet’s back piece!
  • I have 3 chars at 80, but I’m levelling other, a Sylvari thief, that is at 67, I’m curious for see what options I will choose for his personal history, it’s nice to see that there are new missions yet to discover.
  • I Also have been using my 5th character slot to see the beggining stories of the other races, Now I just need 1 Norn more to finish all their beggining routes too.

Apart of that, well, I’m playing also ripping my chars to make more of my silly comics.

Adngel.9786

I’m not so sure. In other games is obvious that I don’t play them if I don’t like them, I’m not tied for traditions there.

About GW2, I’m not seeing myself forced to do things that I don’t like. Pvp, I don’t like it, I don’t play it, and nothing happens. And the content that I see, I’m wathing it as farming nor is being very tiring for me. I have 13/14 archivements of this event, but I have not being following any zerg nor camping on any place waiting for nothing, And last I still have to kill the 25 infected, I have 11 without search for them exclusively, and there is still 10 days.

I’m playing this content, but I’m not feeling saturated nor I’m disliking, so I don’t have any reason to don’t play it O.ò I’m glad to have new missions to do, (well, they call it achivements, but they’re so easy, that’s not any achivement, they are missions hided under a label).

By the way, when I get bored, it’s so easy as stop playing, there are not fees, so I can return whenever I want O.ò, As I did and as I will.

Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

in CDI

Posted by: Adngel.9786

Adngel.9786

I’ve been in discussions with dozens of folks from many different departments regarding the conclusion of the Scarlet arc. I can’t go into specifics about where, when, and how things will end without spoiling things, unfortunately. But I can say that we’ve been reading as much feedback as we’ve been able (yes, that includes the bad along with the good). We know how strongly some of you feel about her as a character. The most I can say now is that the plan is in motion. You’ll just have to wait and see.

Regarding GW1 lore in Living World and beyond, let’s just say we’re looking at all GW lore right now and picking out threads that we’d like to tie up. Ideas are welcome, as always.

I’ll post more tomorrow. Time to go home.

About the GW1 Lore, well I’m very open, whatever topic I’ll enjoy with the open arms. But sharing some ideas.

- My favourite campaign of GW1 was Nightfall, and I’m dying to hear news for our mate Palawa Joko, Vabbi is very far from the current Tyria so I ‘m not very sure if it’s good add stories about him now or if wait for the future when the map gets bigger and more closer to Vabbi. O.ò But whenever it comes, it will be welcome.

- Maybe some more easy could be stories about the King Adelbern and the fall of Ascalon. in GW1 I heard that Evennia went to Ascalon to ask help to the king… and I don’t know anything more about her. Later, in the books of EbonHawke I read about how the king send the ebon soldiers to the south with its mistery. I would like more stories that extend what happened there, in GW2 or in GW1. Maybe the Durdman Priory between tombs and atefacts, could manage to transport us to a simulation of the past, to recreate some events, and collects clues to solve a threat of the present… O.ò

- The white mantle returns?, I fighted against them in some misions of the humans, but they are very hided yet. (They do well, as hero I won’t allow them attack Kryta nor our beloved queen!!).

- When and why the human gods left Tyria? their avatars don’t appears anymore, I understand the gameplay reason, but I don’t know in story why they leave the humans by themselves when they were helping them in times before? Have humans done anything specially wrong in that time? O.ò

- Livia and the Scepter of Orr, she carried the scepter back to Orr at the end of GW:EN, what she really did there? Is that related with Zhaitan raise? or with the uncorrupted lake that Trahearne use to heal Orr?.

Anyway, some ideas ideas ideas
