I am a pretty casual player, but I have pumped a good $100+ into gems over the past year. I liked changing my look often and every Halloween I would buy a costume. When I heard that you can wear them at any time I was really excited! But then I found out my favorite piece, the aviator sunglasses, would be becoming a tonic. It was the first thing I ever bought, and was a signature trait of my character. As silly as it sounds I think I have been put off enough where I am going to take a break from the game until I see how all this pans out. I love this game, and I feel like my silly character just got a whole lot more boring, he has lost his identity.

Well I want to make the legendary dagger for my Necro I think, since he is really techy looking. It would just feel weird completing the map for the first time on an alt in stead of my main.

So I am having a spiritual crisis (of the 1st world kind)! I want to get a legendary for my main who is a necromancer. I have invested a lot of time into him and have had him since launch. However, I just flat out enjoy playing on my guardian more. Now this wouldn’t be a problem if skills could be shared between level 80 characters, but sadly they cannot. Do I want to go through and complete the world on my main who already has 130 skill points or go through the whole thing with my alt that only has 25? It is always hard to move away from a character you have invested so much time into.

Even when checked I need to place my cursor where I want to cast it, and when strafing I don’t have a cursor.

I really would use the Staff…but combat with nothing but ground targeting gets so boring. I like to move around, get into the fray! Even at a range it would be fine but to ground target you usually have to stop strafing and aim it.

Is Minion Master better for PVE now?

I guess I always try and keep my minions alive, them being my main source of damage and survivability, so having them all regen would be nice so I didn’t have to sacrafice after every battle and wait to resummon before the next one. It just means I am not at full power going into a fight.

So what I am hearing is…don’t get magic find. Which I guess is strange to me cause I would think if “The price of items are going up” then I would want better chances at better items. Not to mention since I never run dungeons you wouldn’t think gold find would be worth it. But I really shouldn’t get it, even considering it increases my chances of finding luck which keeps on stacking up the magic find? Just a counter-argument, I still haven’t made up my mind.

Which one to pick? With all the new changes to magic find I am not sure. More magic find could increase my chance to find luck, which leads to even more magic find. I also salvage EVERYTHING I don’t want. So what do you think?

Just looking into what weapons I should use and what kind of gear. My thought was the soldier gear. This gives a major in power and minor in vitality and toughness. The reason is because my minions do a majority of the damage, so all I have to do is live. I specifically chose soldier because it is available for all weapons, exotic armor, and ascended trinkets. What do you think?

And what are your suggestions for weapons? I use an Axe/Focus to apply vulnerability which essentially is just a buff to my minion’s damage. I also have a Dagger/Warhorn just because well…I like getting up there in the fray with my minions.

Suggestions?

Where was it said that they would be buffing minions? And did I hear health regen on minions? That is my second biggest gripe with this entire game so if they start regening I’m sold on it.

Looks like soldiers armor would be right up my alley? Main stat is power with minors being vitality and toughness. Not to mention that there are also ascended items with those stats. And I am really not sure about the Warhorn, it just feels…not worth it? The locust is only good for the swiftness which isn’t very helpful in combat, and the daze is nice but isn’t the most effective thing.

The staff and minions work hand in hand, and to be honest the reason I hate the staff is its 1st attack, it is so slow and dull. I am specced purley into my minions yes, 20 spite, 30 death, and 20 blood. Though I really only needed the extra 10 death to get the staff skill, so I may change that…and I don’t get a couple of the acronyms?

So after playing my class the “optimal” way for a while (aka conditionmancer), I got bored and leveled a gaurdian. Now I am back to my necro, usuing staff and septar + dagger. Sooooo boring. So I decided to go back to my old Axe + Focus and dual daggers. So much more fun! Gotta say, to heck with the idea of being optimal. I use all minions and those weapons. My question is now what gear stats I should get to go with it? Obviously I will want power, but I don’t think I need condition any more. Any suggestions?

Well you see condition is kind of a second priority for me, I roll with my 6 minions. I use the staff to heal them up while also doing damage, and the septar + dagger combo for some pretty beefy damage. Does that change anything? I would love to go for power but condition damage is just flat out better in terms of overall damage.

I really can’t decide which to go with.

Carrion:
Major : Condition Damage
Minors: Power, Vitality

Rampager:
Major: Precision
Minor: Condition Damage, Power

The carrion’s main is condition damage which is what I am going for, but the other gives me precision as well.

I always found my damage to be on par with, or even greater than, other proffesions when all my minions are doing as they should. It makes sense because they are basically a passive sigil that can be destroyed by your opponent. So they are more potent but easier to get rid of. Risk:Reward. Problem being when they are one hit from death that means you take a penalty regardless of what you do come the next battle. If that is the design choice of the profession, I have to say I don’t enjoy it. But perhaps others do.

Jagged horrors are not what I am talking about, they are fine as is. They require only 5 points into a tree and usually live long enough to get out around 3-5 hits. Not to mention while they are out you gain an extra 20 toughness, which also adds to power. For a trait that only costs 5 I would say they are worth it.

I really love being a necromancer in pretty much every game I play. I like swarming my enemies with mass armies, and GW2 lets me do that more than any other MMO. But my biggest complaint has to be the downtime after each fight. I either go into my next fight with far less power than the one I just entered, or a spend a good solid minute resummoning all of my minions. But my semi-OCD just wants me to be at my fullest before every fight so I almost always do that latter, taking usually around a minute of standing still after each fight. I was just wondering why minions can’t regenerate health aside from the flesh golem?

Hey guys, been playing around with my build a lot and I got my traits nailed down, 20 spite, 20 blood, 30 death. Gives me a lot of minion buffs, both to damage and to minion hp. But I have a hard throwing myself into the mix. I use a minion in each slot and together they far outdamage me. In fact without them I can’t really kill anything, which makes sense with the way I am built. But what role could I really play? I built my guy for power but I still can’t do much damage…what other role could I play since my minions seem to be the big hitters?

P.S. Loving the necro

If I need to AFK for a couple of minutes, will I need to log out so I'm not mistaken for a bot?

Plus bots are pretty easy to spot because of their movement. They tend to move very roboticly, often simple strait lines. For instance I have never personally seen a bot strafe.

If they were invulnerable at the surface it was a glitch. It heals you just like your 4th skill does, but forces you to remain still so if someone starts beating on you you can’t get out of it.
