Same problem here. I even tried out Zedds instructions and getting no results.
(edited by AlexEBT.7240)
…as you can read at the bottom it wasn’t sent by the gw2 team and the link offered in the message doesn’t exist…
This message is kittenual Account scam from another player. Just use the ingame support and sent a report to anet (so anet can bann the scammers account). After that delete the message and add the playername to your blocklist.
And so it will be done. Ty for the help.
I’m really sorry if this is the wrong section to post in but i had no other idea where to put it and kindly request a GM to move it to the appropiate forum. This morning i received this wonderful email. It seems official enough however as you can read at the bottom it wasn’t sent by the gw2 team and the link offered in the message doesn’t exist.
Am i being trolled or is there a legitimate problem with my account? Especially since i’ve been playing cleanly ever since i got the game 2 year ago.
“In most games, you go out, and you have really fun tasks, occasionally, that you get to do, and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff. ‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun.” ~ A Sword Swinging Backpeddler
And people wonder why Anet won’t talk to them. A quote from a four year old video is still being quoted today and used as a weapon of sorts.
Anet should just shut up and stop saying anything. It might come back to haunt them.
Yes, the manifesto is qouted to this day because this is what got many of us excited, the manifesto really sold the game for them, this is what we wanted and unfortunately Anet did a 180 on their initial vision.
A third bump for justice. This topic should not fall on the wayside.
Yup, the minis ppl bought with real money to show off ingame…….don’t show up ingame. Brilliant!!!!
!Bump for justice!
Yes, this.
It felt like a free world. Like, you know… a second life. An adventure, where your choices were all that mattered. You could do content above your level if you were good, and fail if you were not. You wandered around the world and enjoyed that “living world” with dynamic events and tons of stuff to explore.
Now you log in, press [F], hit 1, get a cookie for it and are directed by large arrows to the next press [F] and hit 1 on the map. You know, like those linear Crysis, Need for Speed and browser flash games.
Oh, exciting!.. not.
You realize the arrow is for people that are so new to GW2 they literally have no idea where to go. At no point do you have to go where the arrow tells you. Think of the arrow as a guide for where to go to continue your tutorial. If you have played the game before and know what to do, how about don’t follow the arrow?
Unless you are suggesting that you cannot progress from 1-15 without following that arrow…
umm the arrow doesn’t work as it should as seen here
5.05 onward
I’m fairly certain that around the time of the China launch they said the VIP system would never be added to EU/NA servers.
If it is then I’m going to need a new MMO.
They also said they’ll not introduce the levelling systems from the chinese release to the western client. And they sure kept their promise……..for a few months.
They never said that. They did say that the VIP stuff would not come to NA/EU though. It was a concern that actually warranted a red post response.
However, if they were ever that stupid, and yes I feel it would be stupid of them to bring that here, both my husband and I would no longer play.
I’ll copy paste my response “My mistake, you are right, they were thinking of implementing this incredible anti-confusion/ emotional distressing levelling system even before the chinese launch
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/20smr4/mike_obrien_interview_on_the_chinese_version_of”
So yeah god knows what they have in store for us next.
Umm, I just hit level 20 on one of my alts and as part of my “reward” I got a thing called Combat Custimisation or something like that. I think the description it gave was that I could now do combos with other players, such as whirling axes meets an elemental field.
I may have read it wrong but, have they locked combat synergy behind a level gate?
That’s new but considering everything else not unlikely. Yup ppl we truly reached the twilight zone
They made it a lot more like the Chinese version I’ve noticed.

Working as planned.

guys guys….. it’s okay……the arrow is there to help you not be confused about your healing skill. Yes, you may be level 80 but you never know when you might get overwhelmed by it’s existence so the arrow is there preemptively so such emotionally distressing moments be avoided. You don’t want to be confused now do you?
New player experince is truly a magnificent creation. And it doesn’t even cover the downscaling issues, the level up stats upgrades that unbalance the levelling experience and the personal story coming in batches and the fact they restructered chapter 7 and 8 of the story to not make sense any more.
(edited by AlexEBT.7240)
Most likely they will introduce it alongside a lot more systems to help you out play the game and not be confused with all the confusing and complex game systems.
Word of caution: the exp you get from EOTM is significantly lower while the character is under 30 now. It may be better to just follow the green arrow till you get to 30 and then to EOTM….if eotm isn’t level gated as well
If that’s true then that’s really stupid…
I just want to play my freaking characters. I’m not a new player. I don’t need to waste time doing a needless tutorial that is almost non-existent.
Well unfortunately for you, Anet doesn’t exactly care what you like. You will play as they want you to play and by God, you will love it……..:P
Most people in my guild either like it or don’t feel it really affects them. There’s two people in my guild who don’t like it…that I’ve talked to so far anyway.
Oh Vayne, ofc they do.

Yup, sorry about that i found them…on a whole different tab in my bank. Eh nvm ;P Delete this one.

So, uhm… What was the point of this topic? Did you want to discuss its death, or…?
well seems no one made a topic on the subject and i wanted to spread the news so…here we are.
( disclaimer: really sorry if the topic is already brought up in another thread and i’m just piling it up)
So yup it’s confirmed that the BL key reward is now awarded after finishing the lvl 20 story mission batch (which you can only acces it if you are lvl 20 yourself) Keyfarming is dead, all hail the gemstore.
Well i can share a bit of my perspective as a dissatisfied player: i was content until the september patch notes started rolling in.
Hmmm i guess my anger is also the result of the unsatisfaction i had with the direction of the game simmering in the background for a while and the fear that they have no clear ideea what they are doing, outside pumping LS to keep their gemstore nice and fat….the interviews and the patch basically confirmed all of my fears in one fell swoop.
Also the fact that they literally had to drag out heir update notes reveal for over 3 weeks and then add every single little change they are doing to boost up the number of changes and not seem like a complete wasteland, got a little pathetic. Oh look the incredible new wvw changes: colored tags, a golem mastery and a siege disabler…..wow, truly substantial indeed. Let’s also add more interesting buzzwords….ooooo we are not just adding new colors to the commander tags, now it’s an all new “commander system”……yeah whatever.
Let alone the changes that are actively detrimental to the game, see the new levelling system and the trait aquisition system which will make levelling a horrible slog even more than it already is, in order to artificially lenghten the game.
Tbh i’m sick and tired of waiting for the “SUPER DUPER AMAZING” background projects they work on at this point. I’ve heard this excuse too many times already to work on me anymore.
Meh, it is what it is now. They’ll go ahead with these changes wether i like them or not so i’m gonna take a break and as far as i am concerned, no gemstore purchases from me at any point in the future. If they start introducing actual quality content or updates that addresses the problems of the game instead of propping up the gemstore at any turn like they did in the first game, then maybe i’ll return if i hadn’t found a better game in the meantime. Oh and maybe login to play with the few friends who are still playing the game, or just for nostalgias sake.
My 2 cents.
(edited by AlexEBT.7240)
Well i was, i tend to have an addicitve personality and considering the giant skinner box that mmos are, it’s not rocket science i got hooked on. But the next feature patch really made me reconsider how i play the game and view this company. Gonna try to go cold turkey on this one for some time, maybe log in once in a while for my friends or nostalgias sake, but otherwise if nothing major changes when it comes to the content and quality of the updates, i’m out.
Factions and Nightfall are not expansions. They are seperate campaigns. Eye of the North was the only expansion for Guild Wars or GW1. The majority of the arguments against an “expansion” that I have read are about how much unexplored areas around the continent of Tyria. That kind of makes sense to me.
The one questions that I have are:
Why cross the Crystal Desert into Elona if we haven’t beaten Kralkatorrik or venture to Cantha without beating the Deep Sea Dragon?
If Anet was going to follow what they did with GW1 (having seperate campaigns) It would take a ton of resources to flesh out Cantha and Elona like they did with Tyria.
I could see them using the Living Story to open up other areas in the current map.
Like Dry Top? And how it took 2 months to open it up completely? and now we are in a month long hiatus because they can’t keep up with that rate…..yeah i’d say i would take the old gw1 expansion model rather than this.
As far as i understand there won’t be any new festivals till the current living story arc is finished…that may change after all the bad press they got with the interviews and the feature patch but don’t get your hopes high of getting anything new since they made it pretty clear that they were not working for any of the festivals, so anything they come up with must be done in around a span of 2 months. Still let’s hope if it does come, it doesn’t end up like Queens Pavilion.
Also…greatsaw? pffff….The Crossing and Chiroptophobia is where it’s at :P

“One of our first changes is the content direction system. This system simplifies the UI in the top-right side of the game window, providing one clear suggested location (and an arrow providing general direction) to guide players to exciting content. This system will also help guide players to content areas of appropriate level difficulty, even to the next map so they have a better idea of where to go when advancing their character.”
Delightful…you know how ppl loved the freedom that came to levelling in pve? well no more, now we’ll “nudge” you to follow a linear path each and every time. How fantastic.
The 2nd half I left out since it wasn’t for new players.
Players who don’t need direction can ignore this system and go exploring in any direction they want, do content in any order, and play any content they want exactly as they can currently in Guild Wars 2 as it’s available today.
There are advanced settings in the options menu for more experienced players that will allow you to change the functionality of the content direction system. You can select to disable it if you like the way the game UI functions now, or you can select “world complete” mode, which will focus only on providing direction to areas for world completion.
Honestly don’t people read anymore?
I know about that, it’s the mindest that came up with this and all the other levelling “adjustments” that really bothers me. The levelling experience is boring as it is and they are drawing it out even longer now. You only get downed state by lvl5? You are given all the weapon skill on weapon aquisition? the story comes in batches at every 10 lvls? let alone the trait aquisition….and all of this because we are unable to comprehend all these incredibly “deep” and “complex” systems
Aha. Ok then i’ll treat them they same way they treat me as a player.
We already have a 41 page thread about this, which started since this “feature” was added with Feature Patch1 ….and it’s still active a few months later….with no response in sight. Abandon all hope it seems
key farm was always an exploit
i expect the nerf
There were multiple red posts coming from the devs explaining how key farming was ok. Apparently it wasn’t, since they need their allmighty gemstore to rule unquestioned.

Yes but the important thing: can you ride?
Have we confirmed that new colors will come at a additional cost?
Yes, 300 gold per color.
Do you have a source I can look at?
Also Azures link http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2djnv8/interview_with_devon_carver_commander_tag_will_be/

Does Anet even have a PR department?
Have you seen their marketing at Gamescom 2014? Shudder if you did you would have known the answer.
decide if it’s time to raise the white flag on their pet system.
Heh do they ever raise a white flag on any of their more “controversial” decisions? They didn’t back down when the ascended fiasco hit or the usual miss when it comes to balance updates, the fractal update erasing the levels you did and general features added (outifts, commander tag colors costing 300 g each color, megaserver etc). The only time they backed down on something was during the human light cultural tier 3 armor on the gemstore fiasco. It really puts their priorities in perspective doesn’kitten
This is some of the best news I have heard all month!
They finally stopped wasting development time on mini-games and are focusing on the actual game!
If by game you mean gemstore, living story (aka more gemstore) or Esports dream then yes they are.
tbh it is one of the better outfits in the game, hell they even put effort with the charr and asura models, very little clipping and detail loss there. However the female version top…..a bit too risque and low cut for my taste, on some bodytypes it literally looks like that portion needs to be glued to her areolas to stay on :p
But all in all pretty good effort
Guys, you keep forgetting that there is content and mobs in this game designed around anti stacking or intellignet AI…..usually that is the most reviled content in the game (arah p4, dredge fractal) or once the novelty goes away completely abandoned (aetherpath).
At the end of the day these dungeons must be run multiple times. Can you see yourself running molten facilty and aetherblade retreat, every day, multiple paths for tokens or money and not get fed up with the mechanics at one point? Cause that’s what happened with the aether path :P
I would say let them add new dungeons with your suggestions and wishes in mind but leave the core generally untouched, making those runs harder and longer will only hurt the ppl running them economically (see the hotw p1 and what the troll added there did to pugging) for no good reason, especially in the light of the recent farming nerfs.
The thing you’re forgetting is that different people have different views of what’s fun.
I find repeated ‘skip-n-stack’ speedruns hellishly boring and pointless, which is why I rarely do dungeons where this is the rule rather than the exception.
To a lot of us fun=challenging and interesting mechanics that are reactive rather than memorized. The closer the encounters get to PacMan patterns the farther I stay away from them.
That’s why i said they should add over dungeons tailored to your sensibilities as well, but keep the hellishly boring ones as well since they are a major source of income for a lot of ppl.

Do you really want to increase the difficulty on one of the main income sources in the game after all the nerfs we got on basically all the other forms of income in the game (farming, world bosses, temples, resource gathering, etc) outside tp flipping with the last patch?
Bring in new dungeons with harder content but leave the core alone, right now they are the income backbone to way too many players. Also they did make instances with content designed around what you ask for: aetherblade path in TA and the dredge fractal. We all know the result :P
My perspective is if they were to change AI, then they should increase the rewards from normal mobs and bosses to compensate for the change. If they implemented AI changes and left the rewards as they are now they no one would do them because the time vs the reward isn’t worth it.
Yes, but now you are also limitng how many ppl are actually able to do the dungeons and gain said income. Again remember aetherpath, it actually yelds higher rewards then all the other paths plus a chance to drop some really expensive skins and yet ppl don’t do it because of it’s length and difficulty. Look what the introduction of the AC troll did for hotw p1, ppl barely run it anymore compared to before.
Again leave the core alone, these dungeons need to remain as income sources. A harder dungeon with interesting mechanics is nice the first rounds but when you need to run it daily for income things go apart.

They wouldnt make us wait till the Chinese launch to see the next chapter of Living Story would they?
cough That’s exactly what they are going to do. There was even even an official qoute from Anet saying that there won’t be new updates until the end of the wvw season (30 may= also the chinesse launch) walks way innocently whistling
And the title of this thread is? I think he was on topic. And yet, no matter what his response, he gets criticized. yes, this is a perfect reason to not respond.
I don’t really see what that have to do with the post you quoted though.
I have been saying throughout the whole thread that they are most likely busy with Chinese release, and thus why they are silent. And when Chris made his post someone complained about him not actually saying anything and I simply corrected that post by showing that he gave us the exact reason for why they are silent.
And do you blame them for their reaction? Anet went out and rolled out a new server system, a really big and important change with far reaching implications for the open world pve content, that has major kinks in how it functions and how it affects the enjoyment of many players.
In the meantime we have complete radio silence on the topic for a very long period of time and later on we find out that most of these problems won’t be even started to be adressed in the near future, first because the team was enjoying their easter holiday and now because they are focusing on the chinese release. And no one sees a problem with this?
No one makes such a big change to their game and then goes off to do something else on their schedule without leaving any measure of support in case what they changed didn’t work properly.
Personally, at least i’m happy we got a response and an ETA for when they’ll start adressing the problems but the entire thing was misshandled.
(edited by AlexEBT.7240)
If the system was working 100% as described in the blog post and had a 100% success rate could you live with it?
If not why?
Because it can’t work as advertised from a conceptual level. Nobody seems to understand that the stated goal of the megaserver system was to put as many players as possible in as few map instances as possible and this makes it very easy to cap thus not allowing people to join up or create population imbalances thus splitting up servers and groups of players.
Also nobody asks where the system will get the new players from to fill these shards with, aka ppl from all the other servers ripped from their communities to fill the shards.
I’m sorry to say but for now they need to patch the feature patch, content can be rolled out later once the megaserver and trait aquistion fiasco is resolved.
Yes, let’s all rejoice in us becoming an amorphous, featureless blob of zergs in open pve. One of us, one of us…..
Yup it’s everywhere for at least…..2 days or less. A lot faster that anyone would have imagined :/
Why the silence?
The best way to manage an online community is to ignore it. In another week over half of you malcontents will have moved on and stopped posting. Problem solved.
The problems with the system will persist no matter how much they keep ignoring.
They did fix the language issue over on the EU server cluster and that was legitimate feedback.
That wasn’t much of a fix, in many respects it complicated the problem a bit since now ppl can’t even comunicate with each other if the players don’t share the same acount language and one of them has the filter activated.
