If you choose to play with a serverhopping guild, this is what you end up with. This isn’t Anet’s fault, this is your guild’s fault.
I just click the daily to make sure I’m going to the correct area.
What bothers me about Heart of Maguuma Lumberer, is how few lumber nodes there are in a frikkin jungle!
I grab the lumberer/miner/forager dailies in my home instance anytime they are based on a core tyria region.
Hate the leggings too. Everything else looks good though. I’d wear the rest of the set coupled with Ascalonian pants.
Horrible decision. Screw em. If this is the way they want to do business I’m done buying gems altogether.
The new legs were a major part of the HOT Advertised content. This is kittening kittenkitten.
Wow.
That so totally sucks.
This failure thing they have going on. It seriously needs to go.
Especially for a “legendary” quest.
My wife was doing map completion on her elemantalist yesterday and called me to her computer, I figured she needed help with a Vista but no…
She was getting called an idiot a moron and a fool by players who were on a “legendary” quest and needed events to fail. Now I know The GW community comprises players of all ages and backgrounds so I refrained from going nuclear (IRL I’d have planted them). I simply wrote “blame Anet I need this for my heart”.
My wife who has yet to buy HoT on her account, turned off the game, so one less sale for Anet.
Those people kitten me off to no end. Maybe it’s time I spend a few days Shaman farming. >_>
I wasn’t around for the original SAB, so I can’t tell if I’ll like it or not. However, the retro gameplay etc isn’t my usual fancy.
THAT SAID, if other people enjoy it, more power to them. I hope they fix it, so the fans can play it again.
This thread just made me buy the crimson lion dagger + warhorn for my necro. They kinda suit my current look which is not very classic necro but more of a red and gold steampunk style :p
Cost me 110 gold for both skins together.
I’ve done 3 collections, myself. Halloween awards 5 tickets, and it only requires 5 weapons. I don’t buy gems for them, though. The majority of the black lion skins I own are purchased off the trading post while they’re really cheap.
The Halloween one is the only one I completed, it’s definitely a return on investment. 5 tickets for unlocking 5 weapons :p

AP? :o Wow, talk about dedication…
Wait, what? I didn’t know that. Any more events that reward them? (or scraps)
And by really cheap I guess you mean “only” a few hundred gold?
A few hundred? I regularly see BL skins much cheaper than that. A lot of the gallant/improvised/crimson lion stuff costs only between 60 and 90 gold right now.
All depends on which skins you want, I guess.
People actually fall for this still?
Some people deserve to have their accounts stolen.
I can’t help but feel some of you guys picked up Commander Tags for all the wrong reasons.
This.
It also should be blatantly obvious for anyone that the commander was designed for WvW when looking at the whole squad system, icons, commands (supplyinfo / squadinfo). It also costs WvW-only currency. The instances in PvE where a comm would actually be required are few and most of the time require additional coordination anyway (triple trouble). Don’t believe me? Tag up at teq and command wrong on purpose – lets see how many players will actually follow you and how many will tell you to kitten off and win the event on their own.
The ability to mark a group’s location on the map can be helpful for newer players which alone should not cost 300g (this is why i thenk the mentor in its current implementation is a good idea – better filtering options would be nice though). If you really shelled out 300 gold just for having that in PvE, you were not short of money in the first place and deliberately paid full price for only a fraction of functionality and prestige.
This so much.
If you picked up a commander tag just to look flashy in PvE, then the problem is you, not the ‘free’ mentor tag.
Didn’t have any expectations. I never liked MMOs. I picked up GW trilogy once in my local game store’s bargain bin (only because I heard you didn’t need a subscription) and hated it.
Then SWTOR came out and that was the first MMO I played for more than a week; I liked the story but afterwards I immediately dropped out because I hated the rest of the game other than the story. But it was at least an opening into MMOs. So when GW2 came out and friends were raving about it, I decided to at least check out some reviews and a month afterwards I bought it.
Since then I been playing on and off. Usually I play the game for 3-4 months every day, then disappear for the rest of the year.
A few weeks ago I tried GW1 again for Hall of Monuments completion. Still hated it.
I did a bit of COF farming, about 90 minutes, just short of 2 hours. All out on boosters, enough to get me to the Pact Mastery 4. By then the movie I was watching finished and I logged out because it was boring as kitten.
Anyway, fixing the problem would mean they’d have to redo that entire dungeon path, and they made it clear they’re not going to spend any effort on dungeons anymore.
But I agree in general with something else that was said here, Tyrian masteries shouldn’t have been tied to XP. That is just a dumb system. Having them tied simply to Mastery Points would be a much better system.
Then, I went to teq and I noticed an odd number of players ignoring fingers and downed players.
Major new content releases always suck community-wise.
In the old maps you’ll currently only find people speed-lvling Revs; and freebie players who don’t know what they’re doing. No surprise to me that Teq sucks these days. SW has also turned to crap as I see more and more Breach/Vinewrath failures than ever. Only regions in Core game that still have good players are Orr and CoF.
And the people currently rushing through HoT: it’s new, it’s tough, and even though HoT will be around forever, the majority seem to try and do it as soon as possible, so everyone’s trying to rush and refuses to make time to help out each other.
It’s why I’m focusing on Halloween farming for now. It’s boring, and there’s nothing really new in it. But it’s proftable and it’ll keep me busy for now. 2 weeks from now I am hoping that the self-proclaimed “elite” have finished with most of HoT so it gets a bit of a friendlier feel to it again. And I’m sure by then some people will also be making time again to play the old content once more, even if just for dailies.
I never really was into MMOs before GW2, and I always thought I was a bit of a casual player since I’m not one of those who tries to achieve everything and have the bestest and most awesomest kitten. But reading the OP, I almost feel like a hardcore MMO player now.
Seriously, if you don’t enjoy the game, nothing wrong with that; But maybe you just shouldn’t be playing this game or genre then.
Or maybe, you’ll enjoy the game more with a guild that matches your playstyle? That was the solution for me, as I also used to be one of those on and off players that never stayed for long.
I’ll focus on Halloween. Got the expansion preordered, but that can wait until after Halloween.
I’m in my thirties and I’m considered pretty young in our guild. Honestly, age isn’t the problem, not even close. If she never played videogames before she just might not enjoy it though.
Depends on yourself if you like it or not.
I picked up GW1 to earn some HoM points. Hated it. After an hour uninstalled. At least linking accounts gave me 3 armour pieces though.
I’m perfectly fine with a big guild requesting majority/“most of the time” representation. In fact I think majority rep is required if you want your big guild to remain useful.
But mega-server and account-based guilds make it clear 100% rep does NOT work.
I have a shared guild bank with a few RL friends. I rep only when I open that bank. No problem because 1) I’m not earning any influence while doing so 2) it’s a few minutes every few days … but it’s already enough to get kicked from a 100% rep guild.
When I WvW I rep a WvW guild on my homeworld, because even though we’re a 400 person guild, there’s maybe half a dozen from my homeworld. And you know what? My main guild doesn’t care, they’re fine seeing me in WvW fighting against them. But again, it would get me kicked in a 100% rep guild.
You wanna talk about guilds in other games? Well, other games don’t have the mega-server and WvW combination that forces you to team up with players outside your guild unless you want to spend RL cash on switching servers (not like I even can, guild’s main server has full pop IIRC). And most other games allow me to join a different guild on a different character too.
It would make it far easier to accidentally salvage (or delete) something of importance, meaning more people would go to CS asking if their items can be returned.
We’re talking about rares here. There are no important rares. Heck, if you find one that goes higher than 50 silvers on the tradepost you’re lucky.
well, there is no “guilds”, every guild is a unique organisation. It is completely up to you to find one that meets your expectations. In this regard, I do not really understand the motivation behind your post here. An LFG describing what exactly you are looking for would be more suited than this general complaint.
There are guilds like to one you imagined I suppose, though GW2 does not really encourage them just now.
- vast majority of casual playerbase that has no interest in such activities
- there is little or no opportunity for character progression in the game, so coordinating to run specific content lacks an incentive.
- as for dungeons, you are probably a little late to the party. Most people being interested in them will probably have finished them or run them into the ground. They are used as gold farms mostly and for running the most efficient parts you do not need any guild coordination, there is a scene of knowledgeable, good players that can easily PUG these dungeon paths in their sleep.
For a general guild, I can understand why you’d want majority rep. I’m in a good generalist guild that does PvP, SW, Mapping, Dungs, Guild missions, Fracs … they also have a WvW team but it’s on another server.
So I’m in another guild when I want to WvW (granted, that’s at most 10% of my GW2 time). It doesn’t IMO detach me from my main guild. But my main guild just doesn’t offer me access to that part of the game.
I’m also in a storage guild with friends, IMO, kicking someone just because they rep a few minutes to check another guild bank is just lame.
edit: sorry Algreg, I quoted the wrong post :p
You can obtain specific bags that will fill with equipement of different rarities and have unlimited salvage tools in the gem store.
You can also use the search function in your inventory and search for “masterwork” or fine and it will only show items of that rarity.
Salvaging is not a problem, if your set up for it.
What bags are these? I have yet to see inventory bags in the gems store, or any bag that will fill with a specific rarity, anywhere in the game. I’d love this.
Fractal relics.
I like the male and female options actually. Although for have and faces, definitely, so far with every race and gender combination I’ve tried, the exclusives are way better than the default stuff.
That’s my male human btw … think I did an ok job. Was a pain getting light armor bottoms that actually look like regular pants though. Almost all the light armor bottoms for men look like skirts or dresses >_>
As a small aside regarding something I saw in the OP … Teleport to a friend has proven useful to us during guild challenges actually. I save them just for those.
I don’t mind. I never did the keyfarming because I only have like 60 of the tomes saved up.
On the other hand, now that they limited keyfarming to once per week, it sounds like an easily reached achievement. I might actually start using one character slot for low level rotation. Kind of like I play certain content once a day, just go through the low level PS once a week.
It’s supposed to be in the old Lion’s Arch map IIRC, because it’s happening 3 years in the past according to the game’s timeline?
The event rewards anti-team play, the downtime between events kills it, in that half hour it’s not like you can do anything useful, so it actually takes twice the time as advertised, the mobs are dull and grindy, the rewards are way too law, the vendor prices are way too high and include gold cost, even though the mobs don’t drop any loot/gold/XP.
Honestly? Extended it or upping the rewards is an easy fix to at least make it palateable to grind some of the rewards, but what it all boils down to is that everything about this event stinks, and the only criticism possible is that next time, just do the complete opposite you did with this one.

Oh well. I been throwing money at Steam non-stop for days now anyway. After the Steam sale will see if they’ve changed the pricing or not. Worst case I go without GW2 (as a completionist I won’t play a game if I don’t have all the content, and at the current scheme I won’t get HoT); but I got enough games on my backlog now to settle for.
