Ditto. I also tried to party and while I can see party chat, the messages I enter aren’t displayed to me or my party members. Same with guild, map, etc.

Good evening,
While logging in for the first time in a while and moving around in Lion’s Arch for a bit, I couldn’t help but notice my character moving strangely while strafing. For reference, I bound my A and D keys to strafing and exclusively rotate my character through the mouse camera rotation function.
So I decided to try testing time it takes to reach point A to point B using different movement modifiers, including traits, signets, Swiftness and also combining some of them. Nothing works. You always strafe at default speed regardless of your buffs.
Thanks for fixing ASAP. This is a major bug for any competitive environment.

EDIT: This also applies to backpedaling, though it is harder to notice.

Report → Scamming, because that’s somewhat what is really is. If people started to do that, we may see less issues in the future.

Bump. Although the Hint completion achievement is correctly keeping track of my progress, one Hint stubbornly refuses to complete itself, which is Ranger Pet Swap (F4).
I have tried to do it all the possible ways, by having different pet types, another one than the default pet, etc.

30 in Water is an absolute must for any respectable WvW build.
30 Arcane nets you the Evasive Arcana trait, which create spells on dodge rolls. It’s not mandatory…. but almost. Other than that, it’s your pick between Earth, Arcane and maybe 10 in Fire if you’re going for a Cantrip build.

The solution to this issue is to make it so Dragon and World Event chest timers are bound to your character (or account, depending on what ANet wants to do) and this bind would follow the character everywhere it went until it resets, either 24 hours later or at the daily reset time.
This would automatically fix the constant jumping some players do in an attempt to maximize their “rewards” from events.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
I usually never post in the WvW forums, but this is an exception and I wanted to thank both Tarnished Coast and Kaineng servers for providing such a high quality match for the past three weeks, except from a certain TC guild that I will not name here.
You guys have been very classy players. I hope to face both of you again in battle. Thank you!

I’d like to throw my name in the “doesn’t work” hat . As an Elementalist, I literally tried every combo field I have along with a Thief guildmate who leaped and projectile’d in each of them without both of us getting any credit.
I’m thinking it’s not a situation that’s easy to fix though. =/

For achievement retroactivity, how about using the current achievement score as an actual currency? You could be able to buy crowns with achievement points as well as earning them through the daily or whatnot. That way, people who already have completed a bunch of one-time achievements could capitalize on that.
Guild, Achievement & Friends panel should be showing how many points you have accumulated in total in your GW2 career. Your personal achievement panel could show how many points you can spend alongside your total points.
How does that sound?

I’ve had that randomly happen when I try to change in-game chat channels after a long time. For example, I’d talk into guild chat for a while, do something else for 10 minutes, type something in /say and the client locks up/freezes immediately when I press Enter.
The last time it happened was no more than 5 days ago, that’s for sure. I’ll have to test a few uncommon characters like you mentioned, Jason.
Bump. This happened today again.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
It either happens, both in Borderlands and Eternal Battlegrounds
1) When you waypoint to your home base. The client will freeze right when the main UI comes back on.
2) when on the loading screen, where it gets stuck forever.
On both occasions, the client straight locks up and doesn’t respond. I am then forced to kill it via the Windows prompt “The client isn’t responding, kill or wait?” or through the Task Manager. It’s worth noting that both these solutions doesn’t make the crash report console show up.
Thank you.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
I’ll add my plea for such a forum feature to be introduced. It will be very helpful.

My group and I just encountered this very issue about thirty minutes ago.
Detha entered the room and then the event spawned as it should. But then, she ran all the way back to the Oozes that were parked at the large room’s door (we had ran past them), exited combat before arriving there and ran back in the middle of the cannons and just stood there forever.
In fact, even after having my entire group relog from desktop, joining party with them still popped us a “Join your party in AC Explorable?” message so we ended up having to call it off since we couldn’t reload the dungeon for other paths.
EDIT: Tried it 3 hours later without any issues whatsoever. Hmm…

I don’t understand why people complain so hard for a skin. Getting a Legendary is part of something different to do at end-game, but the end result doesn’t need to be an absolute achievement for this MMO. Also, I want to add that the process of getting a Legendary should take much longer than 2 weeks to a month and I’d hazard a guess that it’s what ANet devs intended in the first place… Either way, it’s certainly not that ANet doesn’t care; it’s because the Legendary system and crafting don’t need to be changed whatsoever.
The system isn’t broken. The demand far outweighs the offer, since everybody wants to have a Legendary and don’t realize that it’s never going to happen. Heck, trying to find another skin than a Legendary may yield you interesting results…
Let’s face it. ANet doesn’t even need to give us an official response for complaints about something that isn’t broken, is entirely optional. People expecting for one are the ones with their heads in the sand.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Seriously though, the only luck-based semi-important items to get in the entire game are these Legendary precursors and, arguably, the whole set of Lodestone crafting materials. It’s certainly not that ANet doesn’t care; it’s because the Legendary system and crafting don’t need to be changed whatsoever.
The system isn’t broken. The demand far outweighs the offer, since everybody wants to have a Legendary and don’t realize that it’s never going to happen. Heck, trying to find another skin than a Legendary may yield you interesting results…
Side notes:
-I don’t have a Legendary and don’t plan on getting one this year. If I do luck out on a precursor, I’m making bank on it.
-Pact Trident > Legendary skin, IMO.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Underwater combat is just fine, in my opinion. You mentioned Elementalists and I’d like to add on that – despite them hitting like a wet noodle underwater at first and having to unlock underwater skills being a pain in the kitten at lv 80 with an Exotic trident you can put massive hurting on an enemy while keeping it almost permanently CC’d.
Switch attunements and try different things. As opposed to ground fighting, Ele’s auto attacks underwater are very subpar. The only one you should use is the Lightning one at melee range. Other than that, it’s a matter of rotating cooldowns in different attunements.
Also, Whirlpool.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Rather, why not entirely ignore the Legendary? It’s only a skin.
You attempt a Legendary item because you choose to do it for the skin. It is in no way better than your regular Lv 80 Exotic weapon.? Although you claim it as the “most ridiculous system ever created”, it is something you undertake by choice and can’t complain about the investment. You are not forced to do it for progression.
It is in no way a fundamental issue with the end game as it is completely optional. Keep that in mind!
If you grind for a Legendary without having lucked out on the precursor or having farmed for the precursor, you’re doing it wrong. Having a Legendary is in no means necessary for end-game…
EDIT: Especially if you get mad about how it works. I think finding something else to do while gaming instead of beelining for a Legendary will be beneficial for you.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Two things.
1) Find something else to farm then come back when there are less people. There are other event chains that give solid rewards as well, but aren’t as repeatable as Plink.
2) If you choose to stick with the zerg, you have to have in mind where the enemy spawns are located. If you memorize that, with D/D, you can get close to the spawn points and open with your cone abilities: Drake’s Breath and Cone of Cold. These work WONDERS! Use also all of your PBAoEs to try to hit stuff before it drops (Arcane Wave, Earthquake, Ring of Fire, Frozen Burst, etc).
Fiery Greatsword is your friend in the zerg, also. Spin 10 miles forward and hit everything, lol.

I don’t think I ever ran more than 10 points in Arcane for either the Vigor-on-cir trait or Buff-on-attunement traits, not for the Attunement swapping cooldown reduction. While it’s nice to have, it’s certainly not mandatory when you get to working around that. Rather, I think a 5 or 10 would be mandatory in any build if they kept Lingering Attunements at 5 instead of bumping it to 15…
For instance, when I go into a certain attunement, I mostly use all my skills if needed then switch to something else if I don’t need to spam auto attack. I dislike when I enter an attunement that already has half it’s skills on CD. Sure, sometimes I find myself stuck in an attunement for 2-3 seconds but that’s such a little drawback. Playing slower pays off in cooldown management.
Right now, I’m using a 30/0/20/20/0 build for WvW and PvE, swapping one or two major traits when I switch game modes. I’ll leave the traits up to your imagination.
The cooldown reduction goes hand in hand with attunement-specific cooldown reduction traits, however. Depending how you set your build up, this may be a very viable option for skill “spam”. This favors Control builds, in my opinion.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Mesmer Illusions – AoE them with whatever skills you have. It’s considerably harder to do with a Scepter, so when you see Mesmers not moving, wait for the real one to reappear out of his stealth,
Fear – use a Stun Breaker ability (the Cantrips). Lightning Flash, in particular, should work wonders against an ability like Fear.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Keep in mind we are talking about dungeons here and while you’re thinking about a support build, I’m going to go in another tangent.
The best dungeon gear in my opinion is a mixed set between Rampager and Carrion. I personally have Rampager Armor with Superior Runes of Balthazar and Carrion Weapons (add a Corruption sigil on OH Dagger) and Jewelry.
Why? Because Elementalist’s DPS inherently comes from the very fact your target is burning. Add your burst abilities to that total and your damage comes pretty close if not higher than other classes – it only requires us to play more piano on the keyboard than they do.
Rampager → Power/Precision/Condition Damage
Carrion → Power/Vitality/Condition Damage
This gear setup ensures you raise your Power and Condition damage to high values since no gear piece will neglect it. Add in a bit of Precision from Rampager and effect-on-crit abilities reliably happen and a bit of Vitality to ensure you can take an additional hit before dropping.
Current build is 30/0/20/20/0. You figure out the traits, that’s off-topic at this point.
On topic now, if you’re going towards a support build, Staff, D/D or D/F are your options. It sounded like you were thinking about more control in timed Chills and Cripples.. in that case you may be interested by the Dagger/Focus combination.
I can only give general advice, but a control build NEEDS 30 points in Fire for the +30% Condition Duration with the rest of your trait line spread as you wish (I recommend Earth/Water/Arcane). Your strength will lie there. After you do that, aim for a Runeset that will increase condition duration with an emphasis on Chill and/or Cripple.

Possible options include:
-Superior Runes of the Mad King
-Superior Runes of the Elementalist (they are RAD!)
-of Svanir
-of the Ice (better than you may think)
-of the Lich
-of Grenth
-of the Nightmare
-of Mercy! (These runes will make you a reviving machine, get some Arcane if you go that route)
That’s what I can think of on top of my head.
Quick note on Healing: I personally don’t really like how it scales with healing abilities. With Dagger/Focus, your heals are also limited. If you go Staff it’s a bit nicer – you may want to look for Power/Toughness/Healing gear.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Yeah. I was looking for a topic like this.
Thank you for one amazing puzzle! I wish it would be available for a longer time than the Halloween event duration. This is one masterwork of a MMORPG puzzle and I hope to see more in the future. Thank you!

The reason I have seen for unsocial, disrespectful and idiotic social behavior since the WoW era is a direct result of the North American mentality of NEEDING to be better than everybody else.
Not much will fix this unless people start being courteous on the Internet on their own and unless society’s perception of others turns around 180°. Unfortunately, that won’t happen due to the anonymity factor inherent to gaming, where people can be total kittens without any impact to their RL social standing.
EDIT: Hah, that censorship cracks me up every time. :P

REMINDER: The game is ONE MONTH OLD!
Drop the complaints for a bit, even though it’s unfair and I am also being struck by it. I can understand why they changed Orichalcum because the market was already saturated before they implemented the change (order price = selling price). In a sense, this was a good move for the economy.
They’ll fix bugs, but at least give them time to do so. Nothing’s ever gonna be NOWNOWNOW like the American mentality. For now, I’m happy to hear they said something about the issue.

In my case, all nodes reset when the daily achievements do, which is at 8 PM EST. Only at that moment I can mine all 14 of them.
If I do runs in between this cycle, I can only re-mine 3 of them. One in Malchor’s Leap (by the river) and 2 in Cursed Shore (in the cave/ravine).

I have heard from Malchor’s Leap map chat that the nodes are now on a 23-hour cooldown timer as opposed to the 6-hour it was on previously.
Hopefully that documents the issue. I found all 5/5 Ore and 4/5 Wood on Malchor’s Leap this evening and I’m currently exploring Cursed Shore for Ore. As a reminder, I was “bugged” yesterday night as well (I had mined in-between the two patches on October 1st).
Server: Eredon Terrace.

Lightning surge needed fixed – heck, I play an Ele and could see how this was abusable to Hell and back.
I don’t get why people complain about it’s usefulness, however. Sure the cast time takes a while but it’s damage isn’t bad at all. Even in a 3/4 defensive spec, I still manage to hit for over 1k on every other player with spikes far greater than that. The fact that it’s a small AoE makes it even better.
-Hawcinn/Barborin
Echoing the same issue from Eredon Terrace. I would also like to note that this achievement part was completed before yesterday night’s patch kicked in.
Thank you.

Greetings.
I have a similar problem on Eredon Terrace. I can only find 1-2 Orichalcum Ore nodes in each of Cursed Shore, Malchor’s Leap zones none whatsoever in Frostgorge sound.
Rather than nodes being visible and non-minable, they aren’t showing up at all on my side.
Thank you!

I’m more of the opinion that Conjured Weapons should be treated as an extra “attunement” on their own, despite them having a certain amount of charges (Fiery Greatsword is somewhat an exception, however). Conjure them, use their skills depending on the situation you’re in and then return to your weapon skills.
I don’t think conjured weapons, aside from Fiery Greatsword, are meant to be used to their full charge capacity unless you can afford being stuck in a certain role until combat finishes – Frost Bow is awesome in this opinion as it does have some use in WvW. I invite you to review your approach and usage of them and reply again to the topic.

Hmm… a guild group, coordinated over voice chat, couldn’t complete this boss today. It’s regeneration purely outweighed our damage and the crystals appeared quicker than we could destroy them. The group composition was 3 Elementalists, 1 Mesmer and 1 Guardian and since Ele’s DPS is somewhat subpar at the moment, that didn’t help either. Also, given the group composition, Poison wasn’t available in a constant fashion.
I understand the challenge and the purpose of Explorable modes, but this one feels just a bit over the top as even having two of us permanently on Crystals didn’t avail to much.
