As a mesmer since launch, I found scourge’s ‘play with the F-Keys too’ not too difficult to do. I just found myself using the wrong ones at the wrong time, because while I can hit F-keys like a champion, I often had to stop and re-learn what each one did to refresh my memory. Because they’re nothing like shatters. xD

Well, for starters, it’s not really ‘stand alone’… as an expansion, it will likely come with the core game as well. So there will be plenty of places to take a fresh character.

And as someone that accepted a challenge from a friend in HoT, I raised an engineer from 2 – 80 solely in HoT and LS3 maps, no tomes, no teams, no HP trains. There doen’t need to be places in these maps geared for nuhblets, in my opinion. ;D

I lack the character slots to worry about it at the moment.
But as I still don’t have one of every profession, I’d probably make one I’m missing, personally.
But like has been said so far, try a different race. Might find it more interesting than one you currently have.

Good to hear. Love my Thief.

I kina felt like a tool quoting ‘Playing Engineer’ in map chat during the leather farm in Lake Doric, though.

As for why I like the game?
I’ve been a huge Guild Wars nerd since Eye of the North released.
That’s when I got into the Guild Wars franchise.
My wife and I have played together since we joined the GW community.
I think that’s why I still play daily.
It can’t be for raids, dungeons, or fractals.
You need to be willing to group for that.
xD
We get on in the evenings to do our dailies, maybe a bit of living story here and there to relax and unwind before bed.
I play PvP and WvW by myself when my wife works the evening shifts.
But there is more than enough for everyone, just depends on finding ‘your thing’.
You have to give it a fair shot before writing it off.

As was stated.
It’s a gamble.
It’s not a scam if you don’t get the top prize, it’s just not your day.
It’s purely up to each individual to want to open that many.
And you don’t know how they got the keys. Maybe they’re a dedicated key farmer, or have been saving their map completion keys.
Maybe even farmed their kitten off for gold to trade for gems.

I’ve personally opened hundreds over the years, and haven’t really gotten any of the spectacular prizes.
Did get double full tickets in one chest though, that was cool.

Here’s an idea. If everyone’s all about the tickets. What if, for the lower tiers, wood, and mithril, I think it’s mithril… What if you take a portion of the tickets from the end chest and put them in each chest?

Final wood chest gives 10 tickies, no? What if, in the 4 chests, they gave 1, 1, 3, and 5 tickets. And the same in mithril, 1, 1, 3, and 10? Same rewards in total, just spread out a little to give that little bit of incentive all the PvE’rs are wanting.
>__o¿
That way, if they don’t have ‘time’ to finish a block completely, they still get something from it.

Edit: I say only the first couple, because if you’re going to play enough to get past the first 2 tiers, you can play enough to go balls out and finish the rest of the tiers like you’re not there for just the skins.

Not really a ‘game breaking’ glitch, but back in the first year of GW2, roaming WvW and dying a lot, like I always did, I found myself respawning alive and still laying on the ground as if dead, I could move, and attack, but I was static. It was kind of hilarious.

As someone that’s been part of many a zerg over the years, never been in a teamspeak room at all, I feel slightly offended that I’ve not been the victim of elitism. Well, I can’t really say ‘never’. I did go into a TS room with an EBG commander once. After about 5 minutes, promptly left. 50 or 60 people screaming at, and insulting each other, with no real direction at all, gave me a wicked headache. :/

I build for solo roaming, as I do not have a ‘guild’, so to speak, to WvW with. And while I have gotten the occasional squad invite for zerging, and for more often small havoc squads in enemy BL’s. Teamspeak is never a ‘requirement’, and no one to my knowledge has ever been kicked for illegitimate reasons. Maybe I’m just lucky, or the people that tag up when I’m around are reasonable people. Maybe I’m wrong, who knows?

I set myself some pretty lofty goals.
I’ve been playing since launch and just barely last week got my first ascended weapon for completing HoT, and the small quest after it.
I recently started the collection to get dawn, so I’m going for sunrise.
And also a set of ascended armor for my main character as well.
Also I’m, as Wooden Potatos would say, going to ‘Tony Stark my guild hall’, as I have a very inactive set of guildmates to help me with it.

Like I said, Lofty goals.
Probable going to take me the next 5 years to finish it.

WvW isn't fun - casual/solo perspective

in WvW

Posted by: AngelDiscarnate.5489

AngelDiscarnate.5489

Solo in WvW takes a special kind of toughness to play.
It took me trying several classes and builds to be able to do anything.

I main greatsword mesmer and solo roam a lot.
But I can’t take full camps, and the zergs lag me out some fierce.
But I make the best of it capping sentries, ruins, and killing yaks.
It doesn’t take much effort to keep 60 – 90 reward track points per tick doing that.

You have to learn to love what you can do.

Run around objects in the camp like huts, tables, wells and pillars. It wont save you from shield bash / spectral grasp though. Got to dodge those openers and save the precious stun breaks for the ones you cant see later.

I try to sometimes.
I need to re-do my gear.
Still in full ‘zerker gear from going through PvE.
>__o
That’s why I can’t really take camps, I die too quickly with only 19K health.
I set my reaper up a little better and can take camps, and sometimes towers, if I can get a few minutes alone with my catapault to get through the walls. xD

Mob Mentality in Kessex Hills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AngelDiscarnate.5489

AngelDiscarnate.5489

Kessex is the worst place for that.
It’s the toxifier event leading up to the alchemist.
If it fails, you have to break the morale of the toxified Hyleks.
If it succedes, it goes right to the alchemist.
So people fail it on purpose for more champion drops.
And will literally be complete kittenbags to players whom are just there for the first time, and tooling around playing the game as they want to.

I think if the toxifier event fails, it should stop the whole kitten chain. Put some of those idiots in their place. xD

So they just say nothing at all on larger matters.

Overall I seem to get a scrap every 5 or so chests on average.
On the low side, i was 3 for 3 on scraps to chests, and then I went 14 chests without a single one.

That being said, since the feature pack launched, I’ve opened 92 chests, and came out with 13 scraps, a total makeover, 2 self style hair kits, 3 knowledge tomes, and 4 dyes. In a 2-1-1 spread.
No minis, contracts, full tickets or any other great loots.

Please note: This is not a complaints post. I was adding my drops to the collective for the smarter people to play with. I am also aware of how much the RNG god hates me.

I got lucky with my mesmer.
I’d bought the books before the changes, so when they did hit, I had been given all but the new ones they added with the changes.
I was not so lucky with my guardian or thief.
I tried unlocking with the guardian.
That didn’t go so well.
Waiting weeks, being ineffective, trying to fight handicapped.
I hated it.
So, When I made my thief, I payed.
And it broke my bank, it rendered me just as ineffective, because I was using all my skill points on traits, instead of skills.

Something really should be done, if the traits are going to cost skill points, then there needs to be more skill points available along the way, Not a boost every few levels.
I think the way to solve it is to give a point every level and the 7 bonus points on every 7th level. Or double the amount of skill challeges in the 1 – 15 and 15 – 25 areas.

Opening Cantha and Elona when we as heroes have yet to take back the majority of Maguuma, the Northern Shiverpeaks, or the Crystal Desert from the dragons seems like we’d be spread too far apart.

That being said, I’d handle an expansion like this.
I’d tie it into the existing story. After taking back Claw Island, if you’ve purchased the expansion[s], you’d have the choice of creating the pact to fight Zhaitan, or forming another group to take on the other dragons of the Dragons, to reclaim part of the map. Go take on Krakalaka in the desert or Jormag up north. Put in a few new zones, and by a few I mean 5 or 6 in both the desert and the Northern Shiverpeaks. And have them start around the level of Fireheart and go up to 80. Players without the expansion[s] would be unable to access the new maps. Maybe have an NPC guarding them that says as much. Kind of like the Tengu guy by the south gate in Lion’s Arch used to do. It’d take some doing to make a pair of new dungeons to take on the other dragons in. And some creativity on new world bosses for these areas.

After just getting off a 13 week blue streak, my world is finally the color I need it to be to get 100%.
As a mapper, I feel your frustration.
But looking overall, completion limited to just the PvE areas wouldn’t be challenging enough.
If they take out the WvW maps, they’d have to go back to GW1’s Scrape and Drag mapping and add Southsun, dry top, and any and all other added areas over the future just to make it a challenge.

You could do what I did and raid someone’s mobile siege unit.
Someone parked an omega golem in the citadel, and I needed the Briar tower.
So I marched the golem down and single-handedly took it to complete the Blue borderlands. That was fun stuff.
And I managed to return the golem.
Not in the best shape, but still there.

I play Fort Aspenwood, I lead the 8 member guild, Sacred Storm [Strm] I am Jason Goes Mental.
I don’t raid, I barely fractal, and I suck beyond words at PvP and WvW.
But I try, and that’s what counts.

Do as many as you feel like, dude.
I do a few here and there, some days I finish 5, sometimes I get more, sometimes I get less.
There is no contest if you remember everyone plays at their own speed.
I’ve been playing since launch as well, I’ve been less than 100 points from my 5,000 chest for a month now. I’m in no hurry, and you don’t need to be either.

I used to make one a day until I 500’d my Tailor. I haven’t made one in a couple months now.
I don’t get much cotton or wool, anyway. But eventually, I’ll have to get off my rear and actually start putting together the mats for my Light of Dwayna.

If you’re not happy with having a bear watching your back, live or dead, humanely or cruelly killed, then just use a transmute charge. ;D
Simple fix, didn’t need a thread or a philisophical discussion.

Depending on class, weapons, and how good you are.

Sir Mixalot FTW.
:3

Opened a pair of chests today.
Self style kit and a knowledge tome from one and a mini Caithe and a repair canister from the other.
I am noticing I am pulling better stuff regularly compared to before and my 82 chest ‘bad luck’ streak to get a claim ticket.

Dusk makes a pretty good black substitute for cloth armors.
But it’d be best to preview them for yourself.

So, Jason fails at being making a reasonable suggestion without going overboard on the bonus or the downside?
I don’t even know why I’m suggesting heavy armor classes. I’m not a meat-head by nature.

Really I want my monking back, but that’s not going to happen. xD

Shhhh…You can always play a guardian, it’s basically having a monk, amalgamated with the paragon and ritualist. Like playing 3 classes at once ^^

I have one. ;D
It’s level 80 Sword/Shield And I like it a lot.
And I was used to being gawked at for my ‘Monking’… O_o
Prot/Earth Elementalist built around damage reduction and Zealous Benediction.
And a Heal/Prot/ Soul Reaping ‘Healymancer’ as I called it Rolling Protective Spirit Shield of Absorbtion and Glimmer of Light.
Made better monks than some of the monks I ran into in FA, JQ, and RA. xD

Heheheh. For at long as I’m been playing GW1…I have yet to do and complete any of the bonus mission and Elite content…I feel ashamed Q.Q

I went to DoA once.
I had the privelage of tagging along with a guild mate and his wife to get their Obby armors.
Have yet to try The Deep or Urgoz Warren.
And I used to farm the hell out of UW with a solo Spirit Spam necro. ;D
<3 my white storm bow. xD

Oi~!

I don’t have a weaponsmith yet, and no desire to make the ambrite weapons, because I’m not fond of their looks. xD I have a couple fossils, though, so I might try once my guardian ups weaponsmithing enough.
