Hi, can somebody please help with this issue. I am not able to use the tradepost at all. I keep getting the message ERR_NO_SUPPORTED_PROXIES. Have also attached a screenshot for reference. This started happening after one of the recent updates (Think legendary armor update).
Could his be because a small portion of my downloading is still pending ?
The Legendary Armor designs are at least based on pictures on the ugly side. Though the concept of changing effect based on whether or not the player is fighting is a pretty good idea. Hopefully videos may prove me and others wrong later…For something that requires a lot of effort to make, too many people are finding it ugly and Anet must take note of that. In comparison a lot more (better) thought seems to have been put while designing the legendary weapons……There appears to be a clear lack of, not effort, but vision, in designing the armors. …..Everybody was waiting for these armor designs to come out and they are currently a bit dissapointing
(edited by Ankushp.7245)
the maps weren’t designed with gliding in mind like maguma
it will kitten it up
and anet knows this to be true
the only reason anet might add this eventually is to encourage the weirdos who didn’t buy the expac to do it because they will see gliders in the starting zones
say no to gliding in main tyria
Maps “WERE” not designed. The Map designs can be improved. A move towards making the game map friendly towards Flying and maybe even mounts is always a welcome improvement. Don’t stand in the way of progress!!
They have always been really stingy about sales……..even the big discounts we see in the gemstore are usually an eyewash with the biggest component of the discount being ‘unidentified dyes’, boosters and other useless consumables. Only the 1st wintersday and new years if i remember correctly had decent sales
ASURA Ele/Necro – They just seem to be perfect for it…….Char and Norn seem suitable for swinging around heavy weapons and clobbering stuff….Humans are meh…
On one hand we have people complaining that “The Raids have once again enforced Beserker gear as the Meta” , then on the other hand we have people complaining “The new HoT mobs are too hard….we are all going splat…not soloable etc etc”
So in Raids you have given us content where there is a need for high fast dps …. we alll have to now invest time (many cases money) to get full ascended beserker gear. Then we have strong mobs outside where using other more defensive gear would be more helpful. But since meta is beserker/viper’s etc the ‘less skilled’ (yes I know all you skilled players can do anything and everything with beserker gear…..) players who opt for that gear inorder to ‘fit-in’ , end up dieing a lot.
This in turn is fundamentally against your stand of being casual player friendly (I myself am against making content easy)
You add all these new stat combinations……most of them are looked down upon…..useless….
Ofcourse we have the whole no trinity thing…….
So what is your plan exactly ?? Or is it that we all must have multiple sets of gear for different areas of the game………….oh aaand you increased the cost of making ascended gear x.x
Sooooo in short you basically want the Legendary on the cash shop to buy it instantly ? xD “Patience you must have, my young padawan!!”

Discount the expansion and just introduce a new Quaggan mini in a bikini or something for 1000 gems……all your cost will be recovered!! Or just introduce Mounts kitten !!! I’ll fling money on that

The pricing should be done the way Final Fantasy is doing it for their expansion (big one that too)…….now don’t say that that is subscription based etc etc……there are enough people who throw money at gems here to cover much of that…..too many people who even want the quaggan mail carriers x.x!!
Condi eles have been around for a while but they were a small subset of the main meta.
The rework to condi + having 00666 + ER now a cantrip + stats adjustment + stack increase + trait changes = a large population trying the condi ele out. ’
They were viable in the past but are even more viable post-patch.
Exactly. Far more viable. I think most of you who have replied above are not taking into consideration how significant the ‘Stackable Burn’ change could be. From a damage perspective there is going to be a huge difference in the effectiveness of condi builds especially in Pve.
Okay so conditions will now stack to 1500 – Great
Burning (an important condition attk by eles) will STACK – Awesome
Does this mean that a full tank condi ele is now a possibility ??!! Add in a few of those krait runes and sinister armor we can bleed/burn/poison….!
Seems like finally we can try out condition builds!! Especially the tanky ones with stone heart! Any opinions or ideas ??
The prices are pretty high for my county’s standards, so I ’ll need sometime till I ’ll be able to purchase the Standard edition, but happy for you guys!
Saame situation
Necro is getting a HUUGE buff with the change in condi damage…….
HoT will be free in future like core game ?

Sooo does this mean that even HoT will be free sooner or later. Like if we wait a couple of months (post-release) ? At least hefty discounts ?

Its just not fair. Veteran players should get at least some discount…….50$ would have been acceptable if you were introducing a whole new race or something. 30-40$ is the max whatever you have announced is worth.
You better make the guild halls really really good……am sure many who do decide to pay will be paying to experience the guild halls.
Is the current HoT pricing making us subsidise new players ?
While many may say that the cost is for the new features we are going to enjoy….lets face it, the game makes a lot of money from gem sales too. We have been supporting the game development for years by buying gems. I don’t think we should have to pay for new players too….
Thumbs-up to the idea! I have always considered it a monumental error on part of the game designers for side-lining Racial skills. The Asuran power suit and golem summons have so much potential!!
Why take all the trouble of making races if you are going to reduce their unique racial skills to nothing!! It reduces races to mere skins with no other impact on gaming…..
I strongly believe game designers must explore how the racial skills could be developed further.
I remember somebody comparing the human char war to the world wars……people have compared us nice master race Asura to the kittens……Oh God and who can forget the April Fools airplane fiasco…..now this…..Everything ingame has something comparable to the real world!! I think we should just accept these things and focus on enjoying the game!
The horrors we are witnessing in the real world can never be represented by nething ingame…there is no comparison.
This is an Mmorpg, you are obliged to accept the Mmo world as reality and ignore the bad real world
PS: Americans don’t even type ISIL…….. LOL I bet they will tap your phones for this
Couple of years…..and we are gonna play this on our iPhones and have millions of players! Its inevitable !!!
Don’t you have any will to work towards some goal in the game? Here I am hoping for some thing new (gearwise – Gimmeh legendary armor!!!) to work towards in this expansion and you are asking the whole game to be taken a step backwards……
None of the content in this game puts pressure on players to get special gear except fractals which one can avoid. We only recently had a massive discussion on how the game is skill based and gear has lower importance….Its just to make your toon LOOK cool!!
Well I played Spacewar….and Prince…..and Dave…..and Mario ….sigh those were the days……
GW2 is not at all grindy…..its not pay to win either. You can play the game once a week and still be on par with everyone gearwise. If you find this game grindy, what will you do elsewhere where is way way worse o.O
But of course it is “Pay to look pretty”
Legendaries and such are meant to be grindy….if they are not grindy they won’t be legendary……..
There are many instances where the dialogues of NPCs ingame are in the casual conversation style we use in our daily life……it has such a jarring effect on immersive gameplay. During the personal storyline I get so irritated when the rest of group calls my char “Boss”, it totally ruins the feel of the story. But that’s how it is….can’t do nething about it.
Hehe it will be so funny if that happens……Yay for being too lazy to do fractals :P
Lazy? Seriously? People are not allowed to dislike fractals now?
You misunderstood :/ …..I am the one who has been too lazy……
Use darker colours ? generally I think there are fewer issues in viewing darker colours.
Midnight fire and shadow abyss dyes look the same!!!!
Poor Asuran female are Not even allowed to look female……..Humans better off
Hehe it will be so funny if that happens……Yay for being too lazy to do fractals :P
No…….the greatest player in game will continue to be the one with the most outfits and unlocked dyes -__-
On a serious note the next thing to focus will be the new mastery system. I hope someone more Knowledgeable will explain that to you but it is not going to be gear based to answer your primary doubt.
Inspite of being called "Guild Wars 2, there are not enough Guild specific activities ingame. The once a week guild missions are just not enough. A lot more is needed to revitalize guilds. Hopefully the Guild Halls in the expansion will change everything for good. Finger Crossed. I really hope Anet understands the great expectations people have with the Guild Halls and designs the whole thing really well with good depth to it. This is one aspect of the expansion that MUST be a success
There will be some new stuff coming with the expansion. Patience :P details will come in due time
They want their sentinel’s or even nomad’s gear to have the same efficiency as a full glass cannon gear without all the disadvantages of having much less passive defense. That’s why their suggestions are like that.
Obviously they shouldn’t be as efficent as a full glass cannon in the damage department. But they should be comparatively as efficent in the defensive (or healing, or whatever) department, according to the gear used, and assuming their skill level is on par.
As things stand now, they can’t do so – as i explained before, there is a lack of skills using such stats, thus there are no ways to skillfully use them. But i would also add that as there are ways for players to make up for the lack of defense by using dodges and defensive skills, there should be similar ways for players to make up for some of the lack in offensive stats while using defensive gear, maybe using endurance as well.
For example, they could tie toughness to endurance and/or endurance regeneration, maybe lowering toughness’ passive effects a bit to make up for it, and put good offensive skills on certain weapons with additional endurance costs (vigor may have to be rebalanced as well in such a case). In doing so, people with high toughness may have less passive defense than now, but they would be able to choose to either dodge more or use that endurance for offensive purposes (and likely getting some damage in return, albeit softened by toughness).
Some of those skills could even have particular mechanics involved – good base power and with relatively low endurance cost but unable to crit, for example; such a skill would be tailored for a power/toughness/something that isn’t ferocity gear user, for example. And i can’t see anything wrong with that – right now, most of the offensive skills are tailored over using power/precision/ferocity gear. But that isn’t set in stone either, after all. Or sacrificing a percentage of your current endurance in exchange for an offensive bonus (based on the amount of endurance spent; thus making it more convenient for people with high endurance). In short: just put skillful, active ways to use other stats as well, and whatever those stats do, make them equally efficent in their respective regards.
Aha thanks for that great reply
I am not asking for dodge to be removed or such, have just tried to highlight what helps make zerker gear the meta in this game and looking for suggestions like the quoted post above.
The people who are not able to play efficiently with zerk gear due to their lack of skill at dodging and using other skill based damage absorbers are in no way a minority (PUG groups are proof……) Many new players who want to play tanky builds or support builds are unable to do PVE content like dungeons due to this insistence on zerk gear and yes the fact that the builds that they want to use are indeed inefficient and add no value to gameplay.
Agony damage in fractals MADE you get agony resistance on ur armor, similarly content that MAKES u go in the defensive or use heals is one way to go. Or the other way would be to change the effect/utility of the other stats in some way like many others have suggested in this thread.
Dodging is great. The issue is bosses that use one big attack with a huge windup.
Yea faster attacks instead of that one big attack would help.
A mechanic that allows skilled players to defeat content is a good mechanic for an action based game. This is by design to allow actual skill to play an important role in fights instead of relying on gear.
But then from what we see here Skill in playing is overpowering the effect of gears (which is something people want i guess) BUT the skill needed isnt much. Hence any player with limited skill in dodging and using his other skills well is currently able to nullify effects of wearing pure zerker gear.
Limited skill in dodging? Are we talking about general PVE now, world bosses, or actual content that requires intelligence? I guess it’s because of the limited skill in dodging why so many people that do Arah in full zerker gear go in a group with someone that will solo Lupi when they get there because they will be on the floor there.
I would like to think that many people have improved over the years
Neway its peoole who have good gameplay skills that set the trend……they use the dodge mechanic and their other skills well and are hence able to use play well with the zerker gear. The remaining population emulates these good players (who tend to post builds on websites and stuff) and hence use zerker gear too (irrespective of their success in using the same)And then they fail, so they use more defensive sets to adapt to their skills. How is that a problem with dodging or zerker?
There is no ‘problem’. Am giving you all, a reason for the zerker meta. It exists because through skill in playing and utilising the dodge mechanic you can make the zerker build perfectly viable in almost every existing scenario.
And no they don’t adapt. Most people keep trying to use the zerker build hence all the fail pug squads….. As long as people know that with skill you can bypass the need for defensive gear stats, there will be no variation in good gear builds in this game.
Now whether you want variation in gear builds is upto you…..am just highlighting the fact that being heavily skill based is what has made all other gear stats in this game less attractive than zerker.

I think it’s a great design that your success doesn’t depend on your gear but rather on your skills. This isn’t WoW or any other generic MMO where this happens.
So then i guess you agree that due to skill in gameplay which most people have sufficiently for the current difficulty level of gw2, gear builds are rendered ineffective.

We currently have an ongoing discussion blaming the downed state for people using only the zerk armor build. But isnt it the dodge mechanic that plays a huge role in making the zerker gear viable ? Especially in boss battles. I mean as long as you can dodge the big hits of the boss wearing minimal defence and maximum offense gear works fine.( for eg Lupi fights in Arah) Am not saying that dodge function should be removed, it is one of the signature combat mechanics of GW2. But I think we are underestimating the impact this has on gameplay and builds. With the right trait set up you can dodge and completely nullify most of the incoming damage while dishing out maximum damage on the enemy wearing purely zerk gear.
I think devs must consider this while deciding on how to encourage diversification of builds in this game. Perhaps we need more attks that cannot be dodged ?
What are your thoughts on this ?
There have been many many changes, some good…some not that good. But my advice is, start a new character and do everything step by step(If you never reached 80 before). It should not take more than 1 week 2 max to reach lvl 80 as a casual gamer.
And this way you learn what you need.
Gaaaaah!!! Don’t make him go through the whole NPE!!!!! Have mercy on him
@Zera: a bit of a hyperbole, I think. I play with a gamepad all the time, and it’s not as terrible as you say it is. I mean, why would you do any of the menu-related stuff with a gamepad anyway? Why would you use anything except Teamspeak in sPVP? If you’re checking the mail in the middle of a fight, you’re doing something wrong. Clearly you would use the mouse and keyboard to do your Trading Post stuff, but when you’re actually playing the game, you would use the gamepad.
I use XPadder and Autohotkey for my setup. This is what I do, in relation to an Xbox controller.
Left Stick – ASDW
Right Stick – Center mouse on screen. Hold down right click and move mouse.
R1 – 1
R2 – Jump
R3 – Dodge (thinking of switching this with R2)
L1 – Interact
L2 – Toggle Skills
L3 – 6
ABXY – 2345
L2 + ABXY – 7890
Dpad – ZXCV
L2 + Dpad – Targeting/quickturnI can do everything in combat with these settings. When I play on a tablet (using Kainy), so I have touch screen controls for stuff like accessing the map and trading post.
What tablet is this that runs GW2 o.O ?
But will opening with a low level char reduce chances of a pre ?
Blasphemy!!!! Its a PC MMORPG not some silly play station RPG.
When I really think about it, indeed “Dodging” is the main culprit here…….With the Dodge feature you can avoid damage completely. Wear full zerk gear and zerk trait…..when a boss like Lupi cannot hit you due to dodge, there is absolutely no need to use any other build!
You cannot single out Downed State which clearly plays a much greater role in different aspects of the game than just in the scenario mentioned by you. The problem of there being only one viable build in this game can be attributed to various reasons:
1. Extra efforts put in by Anet to avoid the MMO Trinity
2. The way Toughness and Vitality work in this game
3. Monsters don’t hit hard enough (Anet goes to the extent of weakening strong mobs in response to casual players finding them “hard to kill”)
4. Dodge – which enables glass cannons to kill Lupi – lol by your argument we should remove dodge from the game first.
And probably more factors which I can’t remember as of now……
This is a design flaw……..should have been fixed in the last 3 years…..
Not sure if anybody has discussed this before, Have you guys felt that sometimes the characters seem to hold their weps in a very clumsy manner? The way they hold their weps sometimes is faar from how a warrior (general term, not the class) would hold his weapon.A very good example would be the rifle. Many classes seem to hold them in the most awkward and careless fashion. Greatsword too is sometimes held in angles which just look wrong. Also Massive cases of clipping the armor and ground….especially for Asura. I feel this is an important area for improvement because this has a jarring impact on immersion during gameplay.
I like the idea fishing should be added into the chief craft. Sounds both fun and relaxing. It can also be turned into a simple mini game.
You will feel the difference at 80 with exotic gear. Patience !!!
First of all tell me, what exactly is the benefit of being in a guild in gw2? There is barely any content for guilds so I don’t know what we will do with guild alliance (Unless u specifically want it JUST for chating)……..I have not played the original Guild Wars, but from what others tell me, there was some amount of G vs G content (sumbody plz confirm ) . Here guilds are somewhat cosmetic (like much of the other things In game ) . I guess only TTS , some wvw guilds actually make use of ‘being in a guild’ . Now many of you may come forward and say that “No! Our guild does stuff together” but let’s face it most of the things are stuff u can do with the LFG system………
This game is called Guild Wars but there is hardly anything “Guild wars” :P lol in it.
However I hope the guild houses expected in the expansion changes everything ………
I take this opportunity to channel all the player aggression on forums to something far more constructive and important for the game. Mounts!! Why can’t we have Mounts ?!!
Even in the form of toys….it would still be fun to have more mounts! We could have collections of mounts like we have of minis!
Give us some mounts in the expansion!! There is so much scope here with a variety of different race based mounts…..
Enough planes….discuss GW2!
