Today I saw an engineer shoot at another player with a pistol. I am highly offended and my butt is hurt.

I think you are being insensitive. Obviously Anet had this planned for months and didn’t mean anything by it, but clearly you don’t understand that people have lost their friends and families in plane crashes (recently) and seeing this in game “joke” might take offence.

A plane crashed on the other side of the globe. Sorry, it doesn’t effect me in the least… and a character running around like a plane in a video game is completely unrelated. People need to put on their bigboy panties and sack up.

Insensitive
“showing or feeling no concern for others’ feelings.”

I have no more to say.

Are you sensitive to the plight of the people in Africa? or the people in the middle east ? or the people in Asia ? Am sure there are many ingame references to the tragedies happening there too!

Its sad to see how a few adults today are being weak comparing real life tragedies to a fantasy game and being offended about it………and then ruining it for everyone else!!

This is a game for god’s sake….a fantasy world into which we escape. Why are you people referencing events here to the real world (which sucks and seems to keep getting worse everyday) ? Children play this game, they are innocent and are having fun!! They don’t need to see you hyper sensitive idiots equating perfectly innocent things during ingame events to real life tragedies.

Am sure most of the “hurt” people posting here and talking about empathy wouldn’t give a kitten if the crashes were all only in Asia or Africa…….

While I agree this may be a sad reminder to any family members of crash victims playing……..it certainly doesn’t mean that we remove all references to aviation from the game for the next few months!!

While I agree that this is an American game whose constitution upholds freedom of speech expression and thought (plays American anthem in the background)…….Please close this thread and shove it into the forum abyss!!

IMO, all areas of equipment need the legendary level. It’s the end game for GW2. People say that the stat difference isn’t that much but if it’s BiS, then it’s BiS. End of discussion. Plus legendary items have the stat swapping option that makes them a vary nice QoL item.

Might actually promote people experimenting some variety in builds instead of the standard zerk gear…..

non grindy

lol! did we read the same news? (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-legendary-journey/)
visit vendor, start journey towards precursor
complete a collection themed around the legendary, includes items, materials, minis, food, junk. “all about the hunt”
this lets you unlock a recipe to craft the pre-pre-precursor (I assume this will require deldrimor ingots and spiritwood planks)
then you run around and talk to people about how to get a recipe to refine it into the pre-precursor (remember making mawdry?) (more deldrimor and spiritwood)
more running around talking to people, “participate in a range of activities” to get the recipe to craft the precursor.
all of these are non-TPable
then the rest of the legendary is same as usual.
I suppose it depends on your definition of ‘grindy’.

as for legendary armor, I would say ‘no’. reason is that legendaries are not legendary. once upon a time they were. now, people notice you if you are NOT running a legendary. they are not fancy anymore. now imagine an entire zerg with the same armor too.

Being non-tradeable I expect it will be rarer than the tradeable legendaries we have today.

And even for the current legendaries, it did take quiet a while before they became common. A legendary armor set would give people a nice long goal stretching over a year or 2. This is 6-7 pieces (with backpiece) we are talking about.

No need for legendary armor if they make more kitten outfits.

Legendaries are more than just cosmetic items.

Exactly. Am sure people who finally put in the ingredients into the mystic forge and get their legendaries have a lot more satisfaction at that moment than just clicking and buying an outfit from the cash shop…….

Since we are going to have a hopefully enjoyable, non grindy, fun new way of getting legendary weapons. Can we please also have a similar approach for introducing legendary armour into the game sometime in the future?

Now before the anti-gear progression brigade comes in to argue that we already have ascended armour and dungeon armours etc etc……..been there done that….want moar !

How much ever the casual gamers may grumble about gear progression forcing them to “play hardcore” a certain amount of continuous progression is needed to keep the game exciting and help players continue to set higher goals. And I know some who will grind for hours to buy that brand new dye x.x (shadow abyss….such hype…..) but grumble when it comes to gear…

And noo it won’t be pay to win or grindy even….the new approach to legendary gear making outlined by Anet clearly indicates that people won’t be able to “cash” legendary gear. This is a good opportunity to start thinking about introducing legendary armour skins. And yes the ascended armour skins are boring :-/

Ankushp.7245

So after hearing all the “word of mouth” about silverwastes being one of the best and most innovative MMO pve zones I thought I’d try it myself.

So after following a broken waypoint to get out there for a while- I found my way thanks to the wiki.

Once I arrived I did the story quest which was OK but lacked any choice. I then set out to find one of the most disappointing mechanics I’ve ever seen.

Bandit chests..

It seems as though ANET had a bad week or was trying to create a real time sink for people used to mind numbing end game. A group I followed for an hour did nothing but walk to predetermined chest locations. Some innovative stuff eh. Came back the next day, different group same thing.

And apparently this is ok with ANET as it’s been around for a while. If this is the latest ANET had to offer post expansion then I’m beginning to fear the dev team has gone sour. My expectations for the expansion have gone way down as a result

Silverwastes has a lot of fun events and mechanics. The problem is that you landed on a map with a Chest farming group on it. Use LFG mechanism to find a good map and do the events there.

Drop Rates!!! - Need Rationalisation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ankushp.7245

Hi. I really would like to know whether there is any thought put into deciding drop rates of items in the game ? If I remember correctly it was John Smith who was supposed to be the resident economist for the game. Do you guys consider the impact on the ingame economy while deciding drop rates of items especially during special events such as Halloween and wintersday ? Every time we have one of these large festivals or events the prices of some item or the other goes for a toss………

Also the event items – most recent example being the ugly socks/sweaters etc……please provide some unlimited form of storage or more stacking in one slot (like 10k) for these items or reduce the drop rate!!
What am I supposed to do with the stacks of potiions such as griffon/princess doll ? Cant even sell them….millions unsold in the tp. Of course I can destroy….but why put me through the trouble!! Most of the items in the wintersday gift box and trick or treat bags (sadly) had such a high drop rate that made them useless beyond a point.

Also stuff like bloodstone dust and dragonite….I get so much that neither refining nor mawdrey can cope and have to destroy stacks.

Ok I agree that the drop rate in these cases may be helpful for the more casual players….but it is all still too much. Please reduce the trash drops in the game. The TP is literally turning into a large dustbin.

Why cant we have difficult content?

[-] Arguments against:

  • GW2 is not that other game and was not designed with mounts in mind. Mounts do not belong here. If you want mounts that bad, you can always play that other game.

The developers need to attract more players to the game. Not drive away the ones who are already here……Mounts might bring in more players

  • Aesthetics: mounts will look silly with GW2 races and animals (giant norn on a pink moa). Mounts will make GW2 even less serious and more visually annoying than Moot, Quip and pink unicorn bows.

Devs can deal with the matter of how to make things look good. There is no dearth of silly in this game!! Mounts will obviously be an improvement over quaggan Backpacks and Chars wielding Princess wands!

  • You already have cosmetic mounts: broom, carpet, sonic device. You already have a minor speed “mount”: the Dry Top kites.

Yea…so the cosmetic mounts and the Chars and Norns holding Kites and balloons is not silly…….

  • Speed: waypoints are superior in every possible way. Maps are small enough to even travel by foot. You already have mobility skills and speed boosters for that.

Waypoints are the stupidest argument against mounts…..people want Mounts to ride them around!! They don’t want to get anywhere quicker!!

  • Progression: the game was advertised as having (next to no) gear grind, and people love it for that reason. Introducing mounts as an obligatory item (“grind for it or you lose”) will cause the same uproar as ascended armour.

Why grind? Put it in the cash shop……people seem to love throwing money at the cash shop

  • Like jumping would ruin a game designed with no jumping in mind, flying mounts will ruin GW2 maps (for example, think about jumping puzzles or vistas on mountains).

Problems which can easily be fixed by Devs…….if they could manage a system like Megaserver….this is a piece of cake

  • Things like mounts will require a lot of development resources. These resources could be spent elsewhere.

Its not going to be that hard……most of the raw material already exists in game…and we are not asking for a 50 types of mounts in one go…….Can be made in the same way as the cosmetic mounts like broom and carpet

And yes Flying Mounts WILL make everything better!! Asura must fly kitten!!!

So I have to say something about it and it’s not trash talking to waste your time. I have seen that all this mounts topics are closed by GM because people are opening the idea and say nothing about it. I’m an person who wants mounts in the game and I have a reasons why I want them.

1) You can collect them

2) They will look epic and with gw2 engine in game it would be awesome experience to have and to ride them around the Tyria

3) You go and explore faster with your epic mount and it will be more enjoyable then running and porting around

4) For longer trips get birds that carry you around or even better, the ships that you see in the game. for example in the new map, in arah dungeon story mode (this is the answer for people who will say that’s boring to ride all day long)

5) gw2 is beautiful game and we go across it just porting on those waypoints, yeah so much epicness in that. You have loading screen with picture and that’s it

6) You can made diffrerent mounts speed for lower or bigger levels (60%) for lower and (100%) for higher levels

7) Mount can be shown as an effort you put in the game, something like legendarys. If you’re a hardcore player you will probably have some epic mount, much color, much epicness, much speed, much girls and so on

This were a few ideas I have in my mind at this moment. Probably I could come with something more but this is just for beginning. For all of you who agree or disagree on this I respect your opinion but if you don’t have nothing normal to say on this topic please don’t say anything ! No need for countless comments that don’t have solid opinion on this subject.

Sure! Let’s have flying kittening mounts so every aspect of dungeons, map completion, jumping puzzles, explorer related achievements, mini dungeons, and WvW can be completely broken!
Actually, that’s a kittening terrible idea.

Am sure that Anet is more than capable of incorporating Mounts while at the same time ensuring that none of the above items are adversely affected by placing various restrictions. Mounts already exist in the form of the broom and carpet…..well we just need something that fits into the scene in the game……The carpet and broom are so out of place……

Speaking of WvW….you have given me an idea!!….Airships!! With Asura paratroopers jumping into the enemy keep!!Glorious!!

I am really surprised that people consider the speed boosts in this game as a replacement for mounts……GW2 has the slowest running speed among most mmos I have seen. The only reason this works here is thanks to the way they have split maps into separate instances and all the numerous way points. Of course u are welcome to continue funding the Asuran world domination plans by paying for waypoints but too many way points is bad for immersion

While it may not be possible to implement mounts/flight in the same way as other games, over future expansions (which seem to be nowhere insight) maybe Anet can do something about this…..

Like so many other things in this game, waypoints are illogical. Each waypoint is part of a network of waypoints, all interconnected, but one can only travel to the waypoints one has personally discovered. How does that make sense? Why should one have to find a specific waypoint before one can use it? That’s like getting on a bus (or train or plane) at Point A, but you can’t ride to Point K because you haven’t been there yet. An intelligent ettin would knock himself out shaking his heads at this nonsense.

I submit to you, fellow forumites, that waypoints, as implemented, were a mistake that render any semblance of exploration in this game pointless and silly. You’re not exploring if someone has been there before you and installed a waypoint! Even in Orr, where deadly danger lurks every two, maybe three steps, someone was there before you — and installed waypoints! Which you can’t use until you personally discover them. Ahem.

Here we are, though, at a potential crossroads. The much-maligned Living World offers anet an ironically ironic chance to rectify this bizarre situation. How? It has given us an enemy that can reach out and destroy waypoints! Thus, they could have Ol’ Mordy wipe out up to 99% of all waypoints, everywhere, and thereby give us all a renewed sense of exploratory purpose. Not to mention adventure! “We’ve lost contact with some place or other. What’s going on there? What’s out there now? We must go see!”

But, you may ask, without waypoints, how ever shall we expediently get where we’re going? What if, for instance, according to the handy boss timer or whatever method is in use now, it’s Teakettle time! And I have no time to lose trying to get there, lest I be shunted into an alternate dimension of sight and sound and mind and miss my chance at loot! How? How? How shall I get there? Must I walk? Jog? Skip merrily?

Heck, no! That’s ridiculous. And not very verisimilitudinous. People, whether human, charr, asura, or sylvari, (or largos or tengu hint hint) are like electricity in that, on the whole, they will seek the path of least resistance. That’s why we have all these silly waypoints! Laziness, you see, is the foundation of Civilization everywhere. Without it, there would be no innovation, no discovery, no progress. Which at last brings us to the point: in a world without waypoints, to get where we want to go…

We would ride! Swift sure-footed (wheeled, clawed, etc.) steeds of muscle and bone or steel and chrome or something else entirely! Decorated according to our individual stylistic tastes or lack thereof!

/e mount rears, whinnies (or whatever) and gallops (rolls, clanks, slithers, or whatever) into the sunset (unless we’re heading some direction other than west).

You’re welcome!

/e bow

Disclaimer: eventually, of course, whoever established the waypoint system in the first place will try to re-establish it. Maybe, though, it won’t be so easy this time around…

PS: bloodstone dust for ascended horseshoes/tires/saddlebags?

Maybe waypoints and portals are illogical, but is the lore. Asura transportation for the win! in gw1 they were used for coninent to coninent travel, now they have finetuned the system.

/e walks off in the distance adored by dolyaks, moas, and other critters who know and show they’re happy someone stood up for them!

Oth and as an afterthought I’d love it if mordremoth destroys 50-80% of all waypoints and we get nothing as compensation, the maps will be thriving with life. And still the animals will celebrate my being their spokes(wo)man, and adore me every step I take, maybe not in Orr, but then again, I do not need a risen thrall as mount.

I salute thee mount-lovers, and must compare you with the necrid horsemen of ages gone by!

If you put it that way then Asura and char should have by now developed vehicles too…..all that tech and everybody is still running around :I . It is really sad that with all the airships floating around we cant ride on them…….

Also all the people who are announcing that they will quit if Mounts are added…….ya right! You will probably be the first to buy em. Also if we could endure the ‘NPE’ update……nobody is gonna quit because of mounts

like I have mentioned, the question is no longer “can we have mounts” since they’re already in-game, the question really is how does Anet expand on that feature.

You seem to have jumped over the question “do we need or want Anet to expand on those features?” and the fact that general response for this is for now “no, we don’t”.

Doesn’t seem to be general. Why limit the game expansion in any way ? GW2 shouldn’t risk going too niche and alienating the traditional MMO players who may like things like Mounts. I like the magic carpet and hope there are more such mount type additions. But please don’t add any mount/toy that ruins the immersive feel……I remember an Asian themed mmo with motorbike mounts….with sound effects!!!

Low Priority – Gear Progression

Why there's only 1 useful gear stat..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ankushp.7245

There are many things that come into play here:

No 1 – Much of the pve content is way too easy. Even things like triple wurm and tequatl can be done with a full group in beserker armor ( Yes u cant crit on teq but most don’t bother changing armor…..). And since everything is “Timed” and has to be killed quickly yes zerk is the way to go.

No 2 – Runes and Sigils – Inspite of the recent overhaul it has still not succeeded in creating variation in builds…..

No 3 – Builds in the game are not extreme enough. There should be a larger difference in damage taken by say someone wearing beserker stats and another using knight armor.

But finally I agree with what someone above has said….As of now GW2 is skill based. Gear is more or less just skins……

Why there's only 1 useful gear stat..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ankushp.7245

Ankushp.7245

You are kind of correct from a PVE point of view. It appears that in their quest to completely avoid the traditional “Trinity” system the devs have balanced the game in such a way that everybody from ele to guardian to warrior to mesmers and thieves all can play this game comfortably in beserker gear in PVE. Some dungeon runners insisting on beserker gear doesnt help……..Also most monsters are pretty easy…….and hard mobs in pve are sooner or later nerfed due to players ‘finding it too hard’. Hopefully addition of maps like silverwastes with hard content will help encourage some defensive builds.

Ofcourse in wvw and spvp people tend to be more creative. Its PVE that needs some tweaking.

The fact that the Mounts thread keeps popping up is proof that there as just as many people who want mounts against those who dont. Also the waypoints argument is flawed. All mmos including those with mounts have waypoints or similar arragements. Some players would like to ride mounts around even with the presence of waypoints. It adds to the immersive feeling of the game. Some players may just want mounts for the “Look”. If you all are ok with the carpet and magic broom……i dont see why horses are a problem lol. Add mount shaped toys lol? Just like the toys mounts too can b disabled in wvw maps or such. As we get new content and the size of the GW2 world map xpands….mounts can be useful…might also encourage creation of large size maps.

Many people i see always bring the same old argument. This is not ‘wow.’….this is Gw2………But in case you haven’t noticed, Wow is still doing great, Aion which is another game published by NCsoft seems to be doing better than GW2…….Clearly Gw2 needs some significant changes to match up to them player base wise……….Mounts, Flight, Raids, Some actual progression in gear instead of just skins etc maybe some things that might rejuvenate the game……lets not just say this is not wow and ignore them. This game is already leaning far too much towards ‘casual’ players. I think we should all accept this once and for all, most MMO players like Wow type features. Am not saying that GW2 should become a wow clone. But there is no harm in comparing and bringing in some traditional MMO features in to this game.

And before somebody tells me to go play those games , i dont want to pay subscription fees and i like the graphics here. But I want gw2 to be better than those games.

Need some guild vs guild stuff for some excitement……Some times forums seem to have more excitement than the game itself

Maybe it was too “complicated” for the new players. Just did not fit with the grand NPE plans of Anet i guess…

Top 3 priorities :

1) Brilliant mechanics such as what was displayed in the marionette event. It should promote community game-play like with your guildies, friends etc, because megaserver while beneficial in many ways was a huge blow to the community feeling in servers…..The current guild missions are very much insufficient. Bringing together the guild only once a week is not enough.

2) Maps that can accommodate the players and the flashy effects/graphics without lag

3) Rewards worth playing for even if the RNG chance is small, the rewards should be good. For Eg. Materials for further upgrading our legendary weapons

Lol most people are happy with the map. This is one of the more successful Anet creations. Gauge the mood in the forums before making such dramatic titles

And the only, really the only people fussing are the ones who don’t have the time or patience to ‘grind’ . Yes this chest farm is comparable to grinding or champ farming.

Characters of every race keep saying repetitive dialogues in the game………Stop fussing over small things…..Learn to focus. Anyway the novelty will wear off soon and few people will use it

GW2 is by far the most polished game, with the nicest community and Arenanet does a great job communicating with the players. I recently tried out Archage for a change……..the community there is soo Toxic and the publishers/developers have almost no connection to the players. Made me appreciate GW2 and its team a whole lot more than before.
