Ranger pet swap

“Ranger

Pets: Fixed a bug that caused a delay in readiness upon pet swap or world entry.
Entangle: Fixed a bug that listed damage from this skill as Jacaranda’s Embrace.
Ancient Seeds: Fixed a bug that listed damage from this trait as Jacaranda’s Embrace."

Nope, there’s still a 3-5 seconds delay after pet-swap where it stands absolute passive
before it engages in the fight.

The map is well made and pretty. The events I participated in were fast paced, fun and challanging without being overly hard. Good balance for the majority of players I think.

Personally only two things irritated me in the map. The Chef mastery point challange, I had to give up in frustration, no fun at all. Plus npc enemies out on map have far too wide aggro-radius and too short respawn time. It’s hard to find a spot of calm checking inventory or map. More of everything is not necessarily better.

Raptor mount is very nice. Good control except it tends to get stuck on tiny obstacles. The animations for both mount and rider are simply brilliant.

Ranger Pets are UNRESPONSIVE after Update!!!

The Plot thickens….

It seems like different npc enemies make rangers pet act differently. I haven’t tested all combinations – and why should I have to – but I came across this odd behaviour;

Attacking a Warg in Kessex Hills, every pet-swap gives the said 2-5 seconds delay before the new pet engages.

Attacking a Ridgeback Skale in Bloodtide Coast, after the first swap the Skale can only see me. Pet does not engage at all, just runs after me as a mini. Same thing happens after 2nd and 3rd swap. On the 4th swap however, the Skale suddenly notice my pet and attacks it and my pet engages it.

How can such profound flaws pass QA and why haven’t this been addressed yet inspite of several additional hotfixes to the patch?

Funny though, a lot of issues that MithranArkanere.8957 names are issues that I’ve never experienced, and I’ve got gold on all but 2 adventures….

Lucky You! ‘Cus I’m having the same issues as Mithran and others. After reading many posts about adventures it’s quite obvious to me they work very differently for us. When I have watched guides on how to on Youtube I often wonder if it’s the same game we’re playing.

… snipped…

It’s as if they were designed to fake difficulty by purposely making them impossible randomly. So only a small random number of players can actually make them.

I get this impression also since when I attempted Flying Circus all the updrafts worked fine though I was too slow. In my following trials one of the updrafts had stopped working so I was unable to complete the course. Tried several times after that but that one updraft still doesn’t lift me up though I’m dead center and NOT too low either.

In other adventures jump doesn’t work at some very important points.

If this was a network issue then non-functional updrafts and jumps would misfire outside adventures also at times, but they don’t….

I don’t feel the core Tyria mastery points are worse than the HoT mastery points, because you can do all of the core Tyria mastery points with the help of other players. Do them with your guild, do them with your friends, ask for help in the open world: there is always some mesmer portal ready if you play together with people.

But with the HoT mastery points that are locked behind the adventures, no one is able to help you. You MUST do them ALONE. No chance to get help from your fellow players. This is the worst thing ever in a MMO that is designed to play together with your fellow players.

These facts are puzzling to me. I get the feeling they wanted to break up the community because of all things you’re left doing solo. Also given that fact that if you rez a downed player you will pull aggro like nothing else and both of you are swarmed by mobs. That’s why I think most players simply run passed you now.

On the other hand, events need a group of players well coordinated. All put together, HoT looks and feels like a bunch of ideas implemented with poor synergy in between.

On OP’s topic – I’ve come across that many times. I get the flow going and the adventure is shut down because of timers and it can take a long time before I can try again. Many of us have jobs/school. Not all players can spend 16-18 hours a day in mom’s basement. I despise adventures with all my heart and personally think they have nothing to do with GW2. Rather something for SuperMario, Zelda or even belongs in some ancient arcade hall.

The fact you have to watch video’s about them makes it even worse when I think they should be intuitive and fun – not like labour. I have a job already and I totally suck at these because I don’t find them the least bit fun.

I have nowhere else I can get more mastery points now apart from adventures and the “you don’t have to get gold on all of them” doesn’t help at all since I can’t even get bronze.

Unless ArenaNet decides to break out masterypoints to other areas, I fear future players will have an even harder time getting them as I have seen lately the maps have a steady decline in the numbers players…

Dark, gloomy, ugly and small. Events are boring. Flying to nearly every place and constantly shot at makes it a Combat Flight Simulator with flak and all, very little to do with the rest of Guild Wars 2. I do my daily, trying to find some blood ruby’s – then I’m out. Not a place I like to hang out in.

  • I would like to see a new map that is not either completely destroyed or has death waiting around every corner. I mean it’s great and all, but it gets old after a while. Please make a map with civilizations, settlements, cities and temples that are still in tact, working as intended and with characters that live there. I’m sure you can still come up with nice stories surrounding it, and it’s much more satisfying to protect stuff that is still standing instead of ruins and burning camps. Also event stories can be much more political and/or personal in nature if it’s not this constant disaster prevention.

So much this.

From Orr and up to Bloodstone Fen all we’ve seen are maps made up of rubble looking like 1944 Dresden. With an ever increasing number of mobs camping out nodes and other important places. Mobs with ever increasing abilities to spam stun, daze, blind, immobolize, cripple, knockback, evade and immune to most our skills with little to no appearent cooldowns on their side. Periodically their aggro-radius has also been growing without any patchnotes regarding this. Yes, it gets old…

It seems to me devs got tunnel vision at some point, unable to look outside the lane and come up with any of the ideas Shrugal mentioned in the quoted paragraph.

I know there are permanent rich locations, and forager farms etc, but the other ones tend to become rarer, more often than not when they are are a daily. It’s subjective, and is just my observations. So if you are just hitting the hot spots/rich nodes you might not notice.

After farming all maps for 3 years I say it’s a fact nodes are diminished when on daily achievement 80% of the time. So says all my ingame friends and no, we’re not imagining things like someones standard answer always is in these threads.

I’d be interested in how that data or evidence other people ask for would look like, unless you suggest hacking into the server because I’m sure the company have taken steps so that it can’t be proven by regular players.

I’m sorry but no one wants to run through the dame amount of mobs past the 50 times they alteady did it in they zone, intended mechanic or not what’s the fun and challenge in that?

Why not give people thr option to turn off downscale so they can just run past enemies? Some of us like to use the auto run or watch the map as we run its fun. But that might be to demanding if a change.

I agree with you and the OP, it gets old, and it is old. It’s infact ancient and it’s there just because all other mmo’s have it. An option like you say to get where you wana go quick or choose to be a ‘proper hero’ would be the best.

As aggro and attack radius constantly getting bigger I’m sick of being slowed down to wheelchair speed (no it’s just not minus speedbuff, it’s slower than that) and not being able to dodge for example Mordrem Wolfs and their teeth that manage to bite you from 60 feet away….

Did Heart of Thorns ruin the game?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Annika.7084

The way it was launched as vastly unfinished unpolished with trillions of bugs, with new classes and specializations that made pvp’ers scream high and loud and all the nerfings as a result of that – I have to say yes. Not to mention how it destroyed megaserver with infinate mapchanging offers to yet an even more barren map.

Prior to the expac the game was thriving with a community worth the name. Lots of players out there. Now maps are mostly empty unless daily events are on that map. HoT maps apart from one copy of meta event are now also showing the same signs.
The main gathering squares in cities like Divinty’s Reach and Lions Arch were full of players – now only a few hang around. I’m curious how many have left the game.

When the expac dropped players changed the way they play. Stressed out by hunting both masterypoints and collections you hardly saw anyone taking their time to rez a downed/defeated player. Many have already said it but I concur; the fun went out the window with HoT and like the others I can’t really put my finger on why – just a feeling that came on launch day.

Graphically and compositionwise the new maps are well done though personally I’m not fond of Metroidvania style. Events are too long and boring the grind for points and collections are not a game, it’s labour plain and simple.

In hindsight I could have passed on Heart of Thorns. ArenaNet used to be much better coming out with new interesting and fun events and festivals.

@OP – I doubt very much this would teach a lot of players anything other than not participating in events after a certain numbers of deaths.

The ammount of players needing resurrecting is never very large in any event so I fail to see how it puts the progress at risk.

“a small malus” – with the current flawed system of filling low pop maps there’s no guarantee you’ll end up in the same map after wp’ing, especially not in HoT maps, resulting in no reward and the malus becoming other than small. There are enough goldsinks already in game.

Personally I think the old backpacks looked rather cute on Asura Engineer. I’m very surprized if those were actually removed ‘on demand’. The new style looks downright stupid to me, especially running with that bomb in front like a stressed up waiter.

The Flamethrower visual was also changed, it now looks like a plain rifle. The original look can still be seen at the Jormag event though.

It’s the economist that has taken over the role of gamedirector so there’s really nothing else to expect.

I don’t believe for a second TP either is just driven by players supply and demand. About a month prior to HoT launch the tp-supply of a type of rice-balls (nourishment) stood at 700.000. In one single go ‘someone’ purchased 600.000 of them leaving 100.000 left in TP. That’s 2400 stacks. Who could store that in the first place and what would they do with so many??

Will you prepurchase next expansion?

Considering how hard a time I’ve had the last 3 weeks getting into populated maps where the metas succeed, I have no idea how we’re supposed to get anything done once the population moves on…

Meta events and group Hero Challenges will be something new players and alts coming to the game in the future will never have a chance to get is what I’m worried about.

This I have wondered myself since I was a bit slow starting on HoT because I never participated in any Halloween event and I wanted to do that first. So…. the players who missed the swarm in HoT maps now seem SOL to get their masteries and elites.

Exact same thing happened in another mmo I played, same type of ‘exapnsion’ and new types of points/skills to aquire. All they could do after that swarm departed was to nerf the content so hard it became solo-playable.

So freaking bored

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Annika.7084

The reality of it is simple,

Guildwars 2 launched and started as a AAA amazing game and was easily the best MMO to play at launch. There was nothing wrong with the skill system, the ability to go where you want, even hearts were fine because they gave people multiple was to clear an area.

Somehow, at the start of Living Story part 1, the core developers left and the people left behind had this idea seeded in their head that everything was wrong with the core game and that it needed to rapidly change to survive.

They tore out massive amounts of unbroken content like hearts, the original skill/leveling system, the expectation of normal content additions & expansions. They replaced all the perfectly fine parts of the game with all these crazy ideas like living story, NPE, etc.

They destroyed content like dungeons and TA p3, which only needed minor tweaks, and replaced it with rewardless fails like the Aetherpath that no one ever runs.

It’s like all the things that made the game great were villainized by the new leadership, that came in like a wrecking ball and destroyed all the content and systems that gave this game a gold star by almost every reviewer.

Even professional reviewers were looking at this game going, what the heck is going on? Where is the game I liked?

All of this could have easily been fixed by using the same formula at launch with some minor tweaks. The entire community has outcried for 2 years that WE DONT WANT THIS. Yet these “new” changes are being imposed upon us and destroying the game.

Now alot of us can’t even log in anymore without feeling like a part of someone’s giant artistic experiment gone way wrong.

Hell, NCSoft didn’t even want to stick around.

This is a pattern I’ve seen in many mmo’s – there’s a window of golden play. From shortly after initial launch when they ironed out the worst bugs up to the time when they start ruin the game. At which time they also start nerfing loot/rewards and making some items very difficult to obtain making new players realizing there’s no way they ever going to catch up and quit. When these fancy ideas and changes come in it’s usually the beginning of the end for that mmo.

I never thought I’d see this happen in GW2, a game I held for sticking out from the rest, appealing to a very broad playersbase – obviously I was wrong…

…. Snipped to save some space, but +100 on the entire post.

This;

  • And meanwhile, while we are at a content draught, and while we get no new skin in game, ArenaNet continues to release new skins at the Gem Store monthly. HoT will come with new armor sets – TWO - and meanwhile they have innundated the Gem Store with new outfits. This proves what are ArenaNet’s priorities.

And so on and so on.

This community is wrong because that’s how ArenaNet built it.

As long as the hype over released items/skins in the Gem Store among players will make them forget game-breaking bugs, the company is going to continue with this.
Just look at the gold-to-gem exchange rate.

It’s alot cheaper to hire an intern 3-d artist that doesn’t know first thing about clippin’ issues – than a programmer to correct bugs. Besides, fixing bugs won’t bring in any money at all….

sound effects cutting out since update

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Annika.7084

I can confirm this.

- Ranger Longbow skills with a chain of sounds in particular like Rapid Fire and Barage but also single shot skills have dropouts consistently.

- Footsteps sound comes in and out, long stretches of just silent running.

- Warhorn … this new fart-sound some kind of joke like the aviator when players ran around with their arms stretched out sounding like an areoplane?? Mockery is made of the skill Call of the Wild where the animation of the wolf comes out and sometimes the howl is either mixed or replaced with this new sound of breaking wind. Hunters Call skill fart-sound is very loud.

- Soundeffects in large groups are a complete mess after August 25th patch. I did the event “Breaking the Claw of Jormag” and sounds that are supposed to come from a distance are instead dominating and deafening whilst closer sounds are supressed. Most of the dragons howls were silent and the speakers voice (The wall’s down….Watch the ledges…) dropped out all except once. No soundeffects what-so-ever when firing flamethrower at Icepillars.

Thoughts on recent silent nerf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Annika.7084

Annika.7084

Personally I think this new scaling is lame. What doesn’t get mentioned is lvl 80 players armorvalue is also heavily reduced so now you take damage like a wet tissue.

Players claim they used to one-shoot low-lvl mobs before although I’ve never seen it let alone one-shotted anything myself. Now IF is was possible, should I be able to one-shoot lvl 2 mobs? Of course, if my level is 40 times that of the mob.

“Much requested nerf” ?? By whom? As if lvl 80’s in full ascended spend so much time in Queensdale, Plains of Ashford, Metrica or Caledon Forrest. Some of the very few I see in those maps with Legendary weapons – and I have to assume they also wear Ascended armor – are the ones I have to resurrect. Lets hope they requested this new scaling.

PvP balance = pve nerf? Why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Annika.7084

Annika.7084

Ok so there has to be a way around this issue. I was just thinking. How come pve skills get nerfed when they are having issues in pvp. I mean I understand the engineers grenade was not responding as intended. So yeah they needed fixed. though from what I can tell it is first pvp that brought about this detection. But before that engineer’s mortar kit to powerful in pvp so it gets balanced in pvp and feels like a nerf to pve. My question is if something in pve is work good but is to powerful in pvp why does pve get nerfed while pvp gets balanced? I’m just wondering on this I have seen other things in the past similar to this. I mean now like some others I feel mortar is way weaker then it should be in pve. I mean I can do 6000 dmg easily on my elementalist I have loads of fields but now I’m lucky to get over 1500 with my mortar on a crit. Where is the balance in that? And it is not a case of “learn to play” I may not be the best but I’m not the worst player ever. And I know how to equip and use my skills and traits. If you get over 1500 with a mortar let me know how you manage it… So yeah why is it pve gets nerfed for pvp? Why is it ok for one class to be able to do 6000points easily while the other class who should do similar with the chosen weapon does WAY less. I just want to understand the logic behind this. I just name this situation cause it is recent there are other pve nerfs that was brought about by pvp being unbalanced.

This is a trend in most mmo’s right now. Players get killed in pvp and starts yelling this and that is OP. Gamedesigners and developers nature is to nerf skills as soon as they have the slightest reason to.

“The squeaky wheel gets the grease.”

Normally mobs/missions are not balanced accordingly so pve-players will always suffer from the changes.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I agree with the OP. This is nothing else than a dumb-down of the trait-system into pre-fabricated templates – cookie-cutter builds for each proffession.

The ones who are saying this new system has more diversity obviously never grasped the previous or the system before that and how to utilize them fully. Now it’s just a few mouse-clicks to get the meta.

Someone asked what will happen in the future. My guess is that in next revamp of traits we’ll have ONE traitline for each profession with perhaps two clicky-choices in each tier within the traitline itself. Then why not also an automated rotation of skills and we don’t have to think at all. “Press 1 to start combat”

Low level more powerful than down scaled

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Annika.7084

Personally I think this new downscaling sucks and is exaggarated for higher levels. It was ok before June 23rd revamp of things, and I could feel the benefit of my better gear/runes/traits in low level zone, and why shouldn’t I ?? Otherwise the purpose of leveling is forfit.

I have 5 characters level 80, all 5 with World Completion so I recon I’ve done my bit fighting desperately in low level maps.

Now all of a sudden I’m struggling bad against mobs especially in 15-25 maps and take more than double damage from them so somewhere the armor-rating/mitigation is seriously nerfed within the scaling. The other day my Engineer got killed by an Elite Spider in Gendarran Fields still deploying all I had in turrets/healing/skills etc. This is supposed to enhance my gaming experience? Nope, it’s just lame…

Feedback/Questions: MegaServer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Annika.7084

Annika.7084

Personally I don’t like the change. It shows the same ‘diseases’ as I’ve seen in other mmo’s with megaservers.

- Latency….. skills delay in firing, requiring alot of mashing of buttons or simply refuse to trigger at all, often resulting in loosing the combat and becoming defeated.

- Client loosing connection, especially in combat. I have to log in again to find the avatar either dead or none npc present. Npc’s then might spawn ‘in my lap’ omitting any kind of tactics praying skills will trigger or become defeated again.

- “New Event near by” Thing is, the zergs are now so big, by the time I get to the group-event or world-boss, 50% of the time it’s already over and done.

I started this game on Gunnar’s Hold where none of these things ever happened. I can’t recall being disconnected once, nor that skills wouldn’t trigger. Combat was swift, direct and responsive – I really miss that.

For me the introduction of megaserver is sadly all negative…
