Then you can switch to Dagger/Pistol. Daredevil is not a specialization in a vacuum, you are not required or forced to use staff/physicals at all times.
Seems like a PvP spec/weapon is what I was alluding to. Champs/Legendary mobs in PvE would be more or less business as usual with the current weapon sets and this “shiny new toy” will have a very small niche in the PvE game mode, like Tempest warhorn and Guardian shield.
And what does Daredevil give thieves? A really solid stunlock, evasive set with options for condition specs. Traited with Bountiful Theft, literally anything not capable of blocking or invulning as you cc them is gonna suffer heavily. Sword Dagger has a daze and basilisk venom. With this, you have 7 possible ways of either dazing, launching, or stunning an enemy, not to mention traits that synergize wonderfully with these interrupts such as Impacting Disruption and Brawler’s Tenacity.
Sword/Dagger also works really well for staying on your enemy while Staff is more of an AoE/chase them down kinda playstyle. Just because it has evades and doesn’t use stealth doesn’t mean it’s necessarily the same S/D style gameplay we had before. As I said, it does something similar by giving you evades instead of stealth but whereas Sword/Dagger Acro is all about evasively staying on your target, Daredevil is more about smashing into them and annihilating them with disables and quick strikes.
Also Warriors already had a pretty solid condi option with Dual Sword+Longbow so idk what you talkin bout Willis.
Control effects are cool and all, until you fight a champ/legend.
As for warrior, sure they had access to condi weapon skills, but very little in the way of traits and utilities, which the Berserker addition brings to the table.
I feel like some of these Elites are better than others in terms of playstyle variation. Reaper, Chronomancer and DragonHunter (longbow, not traps) do a pretty good job of opening up a new playstyle. Tempest and “Daredevil” (hate the name btw) seem to be just more of the same for their respective classes, support for Ele, Damage for thieves. If the goal was to open up “new” playstyles, from the looks of things Daredevil isn’t doing much to that effect.
As I said on the previous site stability, which occurs here is pretty useless. Quickness on the other hand sounds cool but might be quite OP.
I propose:
When you successfuly knockback an enemy (not only with an arrow; just knockback; you can do it with shield #5 and then swap your weapon to longbow, bacause only arrows will apply it) your next arrow will apply Burning Arrow.Burning Arrow
- Damage,
- Always a critical hit,
- Burning(3s),
That’s cool, no one really uses shield but I see where you’re trying to build some synergy. As for quickness, warriors get 6s every 15s (low health enemy) with a GM trait in Arms. I dont see 2s every 10s being that OP. It is a GM trait after all. I don’t even like the idea of knockback you don’t have control over. IMO, True Shot should have knock back if in a certain range and this trait should go the way of the dinosaur.

Here’s what Karl should have said:
Virtues:
- Spear of Justice: Increased missile velocity by 100%. Reduced the casting speed from 3/4 second to 1/4 second.
- Shield of Courage: The shielding effect now occurs the moment this ability starts. Lowered after-cast by 200 milliseconds.
The shield now block all attacks from in front of the player for the duration, and grants aegis to allies upon expiration.
Traits:
Minor: On the Hunt: Movement speed increased 25%, grants Swiftness when you activate a virtue.
Adept – Piercing Light: The bleeding effect only really benefited a couple traps, where we wanted the effects of this trait to enhance each one in the same way.
- The bleeding functionality has been removed and will now
dazestun enemies for 1 second when traps enter their ‘activating’ state.
Adept – Dulled Senses: Moved here from the Master tier! Enemies you knock back are crippled. Enemies you cripple receive Vulnerability. Reduced the vuln from 3 stacks for 5 seconds to 1 stack for 8 seconds.
Master – Hunter’s Determination: Drop a Fragments of Faith trap at your location when you’re crowd-controlled.
Master – Zealot’s Aggression: Deal extra damage to crippled enemies. Damage bonus increased from 7% to 10%. Justice’s passive effect cripples enemies (1.5s).
Grandmaster – Hunter’s Fortification: Remove conditions when blocking attacks (1 per block, ICD 1 second). Receive 10% less damage when you have no conditions on you.
Grandmaster – Heavy Light: Merged the aspect of Hunter’s Determination.
Longbow arrows knock back enemies that are within the range threshold (10s ICD). Gain stability quickness (2s) when you knock an enemy back in this fashion.[/s]
You can make the same comparison between a Berserker and default Warrior though. Berserker really doesn’t change Warrior THAT much. It simply gives their burst skills AoE and/or Burning and increases their attack speed by 10% while Berserking. It doesn’t really do anything different from standard Warrior aside for giving you another alternative for the standard builds.
It gives Warrior a really solid Condi option, which it didn’t really have previously. It existed mostly in pvp but has always been overshadowed by zerker/power since always.
With all the burning options available to Berserker, it really opens up a whole new build/play-style. As a warrior+guardian main, I’m pretty excited to play around with sword/torch + longbow condi build. Since dragonhunter pretty much sucks, It’s looking like my Guardian will be GS/Mace+Focus for another 3 years.
But back on topic, the Thief Elite is pretty laughable so far. The leaked skills are just more of the same in the kit. I’m interested in seeing the full reveal, but Karl does not have a good track record so far.
Furthermore, you have to go back 22 pages to find a post from Karl, from 2 months ago. He’s pretty out of touch with the community, almost none of “his class” players know who he is, it’s no wonder he has no clue what we want for the class we play 1000x more than he does.

welcome to Karl McLain classes.
Dragon Hunter – crap, terrible name
Edit: from the latest post,it’s clear he has no idea what to do with the traits, just keeps digging himself a deeper hole with Guardian players. We need an intervention. Robert Gee, please help Karl.
Tempest – crap, terrible weapon
Edit: more support and aoe to the support and aoe King class. GG Karl.
Daredevil – another terrible name, and the leaked information made me laugh
Edit: if you were gonna go with staff, it should have been towards a support role, as the thief severely needs a tanky option. Staff + Meditations that cleanse condi and strip boons, heal, grant boons to self/allies.

Movement speed, Karl. Movement speed.
Karl
When you get around to traits, can we please; PLEASE, PLEASE, get a 25% movement trait. Dragonhunter needs battlefield mobility and Guardian is the only class to not have access to this or perma swift.
I hate to be that guy, but for the most part, these changes are disappointing. No word on the virtues cast time or the inability for certain now skills to be fired backwards. These changes seem kitten by someone that doesn’t have an understanding of guardian or our concerns.
This, it’s like they arbitrarily decided to change some stuff but didn’t actually read the lengthy feedback thread. Why even have Beta’s and ask for our input if you’re going to ignore us?
- F1 Spear of Justice: Increased range from 900 to 1,200. Increased impact damage by 20%.
- F2 Wings of Resolve: Increased heal value by up to 50%.
The complaint was on the cast times but I guess these improvements can justify that…
The longbow skills were generally well received, but Symbol of Energy felt on the weak side compared to the rest of the weapon skills.
LB#1 projectile speed was the #1 complaint; Idk how that got overlooked. Please give this the ranger LB#1 treatment and increase the projectile speed. DPS = 0 if the attack misses a strafing target. I do not recall reading about anyone complaining about LB#4.
- Symbol of Energy: Increased burning duration from 4 seconds to 5 seconds and Vigor duration from 1 second to 3 seconds.
Traps were another area of concern that we’re addressing with the following modifications:
- Purification: Increased bonus healing based upon level by 50%.
- Test of Faith: Increased the damage multiplier on this ability by 20%.
- Fragments of Faith: Decreased the duration that fragments remained on the ground from 15 seconds to 10 seconds. Increased the duration of the aegis granted from fragments from 5 seconds to 8 seconds.
- Procession of Blades: Increased the base damage by 36%.
- Dragon’s Maw: Increased the maw trapping duration from 4 seconds to 6 seconds. Damage increased by 20%.
The complaint is that they are not thematically appropriate for something called a “Dragon Hunter” that fights with a Longbow. Everything about the longbow encourages ranged combat. It’s counter intuitive to have a spell that is essentially melee/PBAoE.
Scenario: Tequatl – Attacking from ranged as Longbow Dragon Hunter would have to run into melee range of the Dragon’s foot in order to use a trap.
How is this thematically congruent? Traps need at the very least to be deployable from range, like consecrations, in order for this to work with the weapon type and theme you have given it.
Lastly the elite specialization traits needed a little more love to really drive the defining components of the Dragonhunter.
- Piercing Light: Added a 20% recharge reduction to Traps.
- Soaring Devastation: Increased the duration of the immobilize from 1.5s to 3s.
- Hunter’s Determination: Increased the duration of stability gained from 4s to 6s.
- Dulled Senses: Added that when you apply cripple you also apply 3 stacks of vulnerability for 5 seconds.
- Heavy Light: Increased the internal cooldown from 7 seconds to 10 seconds. Increased the knockback distance from 120 to 240.
You went the wrong direction on Heavy Light. With a 10s cooldown it is in no way shape or form a contender with Big Game Hunter. BGH is miles above either of the Grandmasters.
Furthermore, you have two traits that entirely depend on each other which basically makes one useless without the other. Dulled Senses is entirely depended on Heavy Light’s knockback, which is now even less reliable with an increased cooldown. Heavy Light would be a ridiculous trait choice unless you had Dulled Senses. This reliance on another trait is in direct contrast with the trait rework performed in the Specialization release and is a huge step backward in that regard. I encourage you to merge them and be more creative with a replacement Grandmaster trait.
(edited by Aorin.9168)
Making traps able to be deployed from range (like consecrations) is a way traps could be viable in LB WvW/PvE. They have their niche in sPvP but are less than ideal otherwise.
There is an entire thread of really good feedback/suggestions that I won’t rehash here but DH isn’t really all that “Dragon Hunter” like in it’s current form.
What Longbow using Guardian is going to run up to a Dragon’s foot to put down a trap? You missed the mark on the theme here, anet.
It appears the “5pm Friday Syndrome” has affected Mr. Gee and the Guardian/Ele team. Maybe we’ll get it Monday…maybe…
Someone didn’t save the word document and they have to track down the changes they made all over again :P
Wrath of Justice – trait from Radiance does not work with Spear (F1) – supposed to immobilize target
________________________________
Bow:
1) needs faster projectile speed (a la Ranger) and a small damage increase ~10%
-note: you are essentially forcing the Zealot’s Aggression trait selection for effective longbow damage. this undermines the recent decision to gravitate away from “must have” traits. Suggestion: increase the damage on 1 altogether, rework Zealot’s Aggression to the MUCH REQUESTED 25% movement speed!
2) Personally, I don’t mind the short root, but why are we locked down when Ranger can pew pew pew their Rapid Fire on the move and it does vastly more damage AND pierces. Please remove the root, allow to be cast while moving.
3) Personally I think this ability is crap, but it seems to have a niche. Would feel more rewarding if it had either more damage (does less damage than auto attack) or had some kind of reward for successfully nullifying an incoming ranged attack. Stun attacker?
4) Causes burning but Light field. Can we get a burning symbol for once?
5) As many others have said, cage should come first.
Virtues
F1) Best of the three. Could do without the cast time, but otherwise solid.
F2_ I seldom use the active effect as I prefer having the passive. The active just doesn’t have enough benefit. Extremely situational. Maybe make the damage trait baseline or add a blast or leap finisher to add incentive to use.
F3) Prefer old Aegis. The frontal thing seems clunky. Can it be modified to just be a shield AROUND the player for the duration? If it’s going to be kept as is, add the functionality from hammer revenant’s similar skill so the shield acts as a light field to combo with projectiles.
Traps
Honestly do not like traps; especially in PVE. I can see the benefit in pvp point defense but in PVE I find myself using old school utilities. I get where you were going with these and on paper they look interesting but it seems they are going to be hit or miss with the vast majority. Consider me a miss :P
No way I will ever pick Dragon’s Maw over Feel My Wrath. Not. Gonna. Happen.
Traits:
Dulled Senses and Heavy Light rely too much on each other. Would like to see these merged and the creative team to come up with a better Grandmaster. Big Game Hunter is too strong a choice for Heavy Light to compete, and unless you take Heavy Light, Dulled Senses is absolutely useless.
(edited by Aorin.9168)
if they do, they should consider replacing the lot of them.
Hello,
Curious if there is an option or an option could be implemented to hide pet nametags.
I’m currently playing a Ranger and would like to be able to turn off my pets nametag.
Thanks
I’m of the opinion they should involve the player base in how the living story goes;
similar to the election. I feel like something we did as a whole should have affected this Scarlet situation.
Personally, I think they need to get off this tangent, and get back to the main story.
What is the pact doing? Zhaitan is dead yet Orr is business as usual.
Are the other dragons on a picnic?
What are the Destiny’s Edge people up to?
I would like to get back on track with the actual STORY and not this sidebar “crazed Sylvari” story.
I hate to say I told you so…but…
this event went the way of balthazar temple. they overtuned the encounter. it’s way too difficult and in general, people wont put forth the effort after doing it once.
Thieves currently have two main hand melee weapons, only one of which has a skill that causes a damaging condition, and even that is determined by whether or not you have dual daggers equipped.
Thief needs a damaging condition stacking melee weapon, and for that I suggest Axe, which has a multiple hit chain similar to warrior, that causes bleeds.
So now that Blackgate has been popularized with the world first Tequatl defeat, it has been impossible for myself and multiple friends/guild members to get in the Blackgate Sparkfly Fen map.
I’m willing to bet that more than half of the people occupying the Blackgate Sparkfly Fen player slots are guests from other servers.
I believe that players from the server the map belongs to should have priority over guests, how about you, Anet?
edit: I should add, I’ve been on Blackgate since launch
Yeah it must be all those kitten guesters, god knows its impossible for one of the highest population servers to fill a single map without guesting. Blackgate never has wait times for wvw right? (must be the guesters fault again right?)
at 7am? No. I have done many events, including Scarlet invasions and other holiday type things early in the morning and never had an issue with overflow until this debacle
I live in a townhouse community, it is not my private property. I belong to that community therefore I have first right/reserved parking space. I belong to the Blackgate community and should not be forced onto overflow Tequatl failures because of a design flaw.
If people had their own sense of community and would pull together on their own servers or guest onto one to combine their talents instead of bandwagoning onto blackgate for a “guaranteed kill” this wouldnt be a problem.
It’s like suddenly becoming a Ravens fan after they won the Superbowl.
It IS a design flaw, whether you see it or not.
I’m forced out of my own home world by people guesting from other servers and that is a design flaw.
Because I am a Blackgate world player, have been since day 1, and wish to play on Blackgate’s Sparkfly Fen map, with other Blackgate players and I feel that my spot should not be occupied by a Crystal Desert guesting player simply leeching off the accomplishments of my fellow Beastgaters.
Accomplishments I’m willing to bet you had little to not hand in at all. So why should you receive any credit for them?
To answer your complaint: Tough kitten. Get on your server’s SF faster. If you’re too slow that’s your problem. “But I want…” But they don’t. Your “I want” is as valid as anyone else’s “I want”, and clearly a lot of other people “want” to be there.
That’s assuming that your “problem” is due to guesting anyways, which you have absolutely 0 credible or even plausible evidence to support. You’re guessing, wildly, with no evidence behind it. Plenty of servers are hitting overflow on TQ event that haven’t killed TQ yet. Are you suggesting this is also caused by guesting?
This thread reminds me of one of those backwater hillbillies that spout racist “THEY TAKIN’ OUR JOBS!” bullkitten as a way to justify their own failures. “I could get one o’them jobs but them immigrants comin’ here steals them all!”.
…Of all the stupid complaints…
If you get home and your lot/driveway is filled with “visitor”/guests cars, would you not be kitten ed off that you had no where to park?
Are the Ascended Weapons he drops of a certain stat combination?
Is there a randomness to what the weapons come as or is the kind of thing like the magic find items had where we can pick our stat and its set to that forever?
Already exists. The overflow queue system prioritizes home server occupants over guests. If they’re already on the map, why should they be removed?
Because I am a Blackgate world player, have been since day 1, and wish to play on Blackgate’s Sparkfly Fen map, with other Blackgate players and I feel that my spot should not be occupied by a Crystal Desert guesting player simply leeching off the accomplishments of my fellow Beastgaters.

easy solution:
15 min timer = item/chest/box rewards with chance for ascended
defeated after timer = karma/silver/dragonite
This way there is incentive to kill within the 15 min timer, but still reward enough to make it appealing for groups that can’t get him down in the timer.
2-handed Weapon skills
Staff
Niche: AoE spells, party support. 1200 range attacks.
1: Pain
Deal 300 dmg to foes in a 100unit radius of target foe.
2: Spirit Transfer 8s CD
Deal 300 damage to target Foe. gain 10% Spirit Essence3: Li Ming’s Purity 15s CD
Allies in a 600 unit radius lose one condition.4: Disenchantment 20s CD
Foes in a 100unit radius of target foe lose 1 boon.
5: Xinrae’s Defiance 25s CD
For each enemy in a 600 unit radius (up to 5), allies (up to 5) in that radius gain one stack of might for 5s and 3s of Fury
I REALLY want to see a class that can use staff as a melee weapon.
Imo Vision of the Mists looks better than the legendaries for mesmer.
I made my ascended gs today and skinned it with Vision
I’d like to see mesmer get an at-will defense skill, like protection or a temp +armor /defense reduction. Currently the only skill is Phantasmal Defender (redirects half damage). Problem with Defender is low hp, unless you have the +50% hp signet on, you won’t get much from this skill.
Temporal Armor
Create a bubble of energy around yourself, reducing damage taken for X seconds.
could grant protection or some other type of buff similar to how chaos armor has its own unique “boon”
Tech waddle

How about a “Very Small” option to UI scale, or the ability to make each item a certain custom size. I still feel that some of the UI elements are too big for my liking.
I understand anet doesnt necessarily want people making custom UI arrangements, and i get that, but the option for size already exists. Small just isnt small enough on large monitors.
I’m not sure if this is intended or not but it seems to me story dungeons are still dungeons and should reward Empyreal Fragments. They take just as long as some of the explorable and some of the bosses are just as challenging.
Just finished COE story mode and was disappointed to not receive anything worthy of the time spent doing it (aside from now being able to open COE explorable).
You will get a LOT of T6 mats when you make your mystic clovers.
Make the mystic clovers first.
You don’t even need to grind to get ascended gear.
You will get the materials to make it by playing the game at any speed, in any way.
You and all of the other complainers are over dramatizing the entire issue.
Look at what is required to make them, and look at all the options of obtaining them. You get all of the materials without trying. Now relax.
This.
Everything required comes from playing the game as you normally would, with a few exceptions. Some people aren’t inclined to do crafting professions. This is a major flaw in the approach to ascended items as it requires one to max a crafting skill. If you want a best in slot you WILL have to spend money or quite a bit of time to do this.
Everything else comes from playing the game as you naturally would. Temple events, world bosses, stumbling upon chests in the open world, world vs world vs world activities.
The people that are getting upset are they people that have the mentality that they have to have the absolute best, IMMEDIATELY.
Pick the weapon you use most, start with that. Then go for the weapon you use second most, go with that. It’s not a race. As a whole, the player base is proceeding at roughly the same speed. Personally, I’m probably only going to really actively work to make a greatsword, and then if I someday end up with stuff to make another, that’s just a bonus.
You don’t need ALL of your weapons to be ascended. 5% increase isn’t worth the time it would take to ACTIVELY “grind” out the materials. Just play the game for enjoyment and one day you will check your bank and go “oh hey look at that, I’ve got enough to make another!”
I do not agree with the direction Anet has gone with this, but I acknowledge that they have and as a player I can either go with it or play something else. Until Wildstar, I’m inclined to just go with it and not freak out about the 5% difference in weapons I seldom use.
TLDR: You get the materials from playing the game naturally, over a time spread. What makes it seem like a lot is because you are actively trying to “grind” out all the materials for your whole scope of weapons IMMEDIATELY. Pick your favorite, make that. It’s not a race.
Really guys? Known issue and you couldn’t put this in your hotfix?
works for me…
Weapons, armor, and trinkets that had a magic find stat combo have been flagged as account bound and will now allow double-clicking to permanently change the stat combo. This is a one-time ability, and the options are dependent on where the item was acquired. All trading post listings for these items have been cancelled and the items returned to the poster.
Why even say account bound? If we had the items equipped, they were already soulbound. If we purchased laurel equipment, they were already account bound.
You told us they would be flagged as account bound, which every one took to mean it would be as if they just bought them from the laurel vendor or got in Fractals ACCOUNT BOUND =/= SOULBOUND ON USE
No one at the event received Dragonite Ore from completion chest or boss loot. (Blackgate 1:05pm Server Time)
Focus + Superior Rune of the Air + Mirrior = Near unlimited swiftness…. If you want to run dont complain because your exact set up doesn’t allow for it.
“QQ I lost to the class because they run faster” B.S lol
You kinda helped make my point.
Mesmer has to have a certain weapon and runes slotted to have decent movement speed uptime when other classes just get a signet and have a “permanent” 25% increase.
5/8 classes have access to the signet. You don’t have to use it if you feel it is less valuable than other utilities.
I feel that not even having it as an option is pretty weak.
When trying to cross a battlefield to catch up to the zerg, or get to a point under attack to defend it, 25% is pretty a big improvement . Since it would be a passive effect, its fairly easy to drop the signet into a slot and take it back out once you get close/to where you’re going.
Almost every other class has one, they should just even the field and give the final 3 the same option.
Personally I use the runes which give swiftness on heals (centaur?) with the mirror-heal (very short cooldown). In combination with Signet of Inspiration (which gives a random boon, swiftness appears quite often) most of the time I run with perma swiftness.
I use Eagle runes, no way am I replacing them unless its for Scholars :P
We shouldn’t have to kitten ourselves that badly just to pick up an additional source of movement speed.
I sometimes use Inspiration but it’s so random I really can’t depend on it.
I’m hoping either
a) all classes get a 25% speed signet
or b) they just buff all out of combat run speed by 25% and free a utility slot up for better things.
So things like Rune of the Traveler/Pirate, Ascended rings like Circle of Light; these are going to be changed drastically.
I’m on the fence about this :/
I can achieve 212% magic find on my farming character. If I lose the ability to get 212% when farming I’m going to be unhappy.
Every class has the capability of being faster than Mesmer.
Ele, Necro, Ranger and Thief have a 25% Movement Speed Signet.
Warrior’s can trait for 25% speed as long as they have a melee weapon equipped.
Guardian’s get a 20 second Swiftness, and an 8 second swiftness on a 15s cooldown (Staff)
Engineers can slot speedy kits, and pretty much have perma swiftness out of combat.
Mesmer’s only movement increase skill is 12 second swiftness on a 25s cooldown and requires a focus be slotted in offhand. This limits build variety, as more often than not you end up in combat when you want to swap weapons. I personally want to dw swords, or sword/pistol, but I find that I’m pretty much required to slot a focus if i want to roam.
Signet of Midnight’s passive is sub-par.
It would be a pretty simple thing to scrap it’s passive effect and give us 25% movement like almost every other class has.
For the love of gawd Anet; give us a movement speed signet.
Signet of Midnight’s passive is sub-par.
Scrap it and give us 25% movement like almost every other class has.
Easy Fix!

Hook us up anet.
(this time without q/a mode!)
The dynamic event sections is crickets.
Any worlds have Grenth available?
Need to buy some soldier trinkets
I’ll leave out the actual damage numbers because I don’t know how they play out but I thought this would be an interesting Well Elite. It might be a little too strong but the concept is neat…

Regeneration (10 seconds)
Vigor (8 seconds)

Thanks for the input!
I’ve taken to using flamethrower, personal battering ram and the rocket boots for the large gap it creates if i get mobs all over me.
So far I’m having a lot of fun with the class and the build.
I like the rifle for all the utility but it seems like pistol does more damage overall.
I wish they would rework rifle a bit…maybe combine the 3 and 4 ability, letting blunderbuss knock the target away from the force of the blast, create a new offensive attack…like an “Aimed shot” ability. It IS a rifle after all..
Snipe – 1s cast – 12s cooldown
Deals moderate to high damage
You fire a carefully aimed shot that hits one of your targets vital organs, dealing damage and causing one of the following conditions.
Leg shot: Hamstring your target causing X damage and crippling your target for Y seconds.
Head shot: Your target is dazed, interrupting any spells being cast and applies 2 seconds of confusion.
Gut shot: Your target bleeds out slowly, causing X damage over Y seconds.
Chest shot: You shoot your target in the chest, dealing X damage and stunning your target for Y seconds.
or
Execute – 3/4s cast – 12s cooldown
Deals damage based on targets current health
Fire a well aimed shot, hitting your target in a vital area, dealing extra damage based on the targets current health. The health of your target determines the cooldown of this ability. (for balance?)
2x damage -50% 16s cooldown
3x damage -20% 20s cooldown
Rifle needs a shiny new ability :P

Hello,
I’m thinking about making an Engineer, as I’ve grown bored with my other 80’s and want to try something different. I’m posting this build with hope for feedback from veteran Engineer players. Any advice you may have is welcome.
After researching a bit and playing around with some different builds, I’ve come up with two variations of roughly the same build.
It utilizes Rifle and Flamethrower, while using gadget abilities; mainly the Personal Battering Ram and Throw Mine slot skills for the control they offer, both on the Toolkit and in their slotted abilities.
Explosives: 10 points
Forceful Explosives – 10 points in Explosives gets me +10% condition duration, which helps when in Flamethrower Kit; Larger bomb/mine radius improves the area of the bomb left behind when dodging, the Toolkit bombs, and the Throw Mine utility slot mine
Firearms: 30 points
The crit and condition damage synergy of this tree work really well with this build.
Hair Trigger – Since the Engineer really only has one option for a power build weapon, I opted for 20% reduction on rifle abilities. It also helps with the control approach I am taking to Engineer, letting me use Net and Overcharged Shot more often.
Fireforged Trigger – The main damage source of this build is the Flamethrower kit, making this a must-have.
Juggernaut – Since Flamethrower will be equipped most of the time during combat, +200 toughness and Might Stacking are a huge bonus. This build utilizes Superior Runes of Strength, improving the Might duration by 20% and damage output by 5% while Might is present.
Alchemy: 20 points
Acidic Coating – Since the design of this build is control/dps, causing blind when struck by melee is extremely helpful if mobs do slip through the cracks, improving the survival of the build.
Deadly Mixture – Another must-have for the Flamethrower kit.
Tools: 10 points
10% cooldown reduction on Toolbelt skills and Toolbelt skills restore 10& endurance, which meshes with the bomb-on-dodge passive from Evasive Powder Keg (Explosives tree).
Speedy Gadgets – must-have for the control aspect of the gadget utilities
Basically the same build, trades 10 points in Explosives to put 10 more in Tools.
This improves the cooldown time of the control abilities in the Toolbelt slots, resets their timer at 25% health, and causes them to do damage when used.
Tradeoff – no bomb on dodge, smaller radius on bomb/mine.

The Blackgate that showed up on Friday was amazing, it was one the strongest openings to a match up that I have ever seen. Not only that, SoS are ALWAYS first on the opening day, Blackgate are the first server in nearly 4 months to break this rhythm.
If the same Blackgate that showed up in the first 24 hours, showed up on the second day of the match up, the scores would be a lot closer. I do not understand, why the same people that logged in on Friday, didn’t login on the day after, and the one after?
It looks as though Blackgate have given up, it’s a shame because your server is far more capable than this.
