Anyway, I’d love to see what advice you all have to offer.
Just want to point out, people responded with exactly what you asked for. In your own words “advice”.
But it was empty advice. It suggested which spirits to use, not traits, not suggested weapons, There was, I believe mention of stats, but no runes, no sigils, no traits.
And while to some MINOR extent, I do actually appreciate minute help given, it’s like me walking into a business meeting, the head of financial saying “How should we proceed with this?” expecting a laid out plan, with a spending budget, and me saying “Just do it.” as my advice.
Yes, I am WELL aware of the fact I can be a kitten. The fact remains, I came here asking for builds, which I suppose I could have been a little more clear on, and I would have posted my guardian build sooner, had the site been working for me at the time, to give everyone who posted originally, a better idea of what I was looking for, but as I mentioned, my ability to do so at the time was limited. And yes, you could argue, I could of waited another day or two, for the problem to sort itself out, to which I would simply respond, A friend and I used the level booster for my Rev, and her Mesmer, so we could play together, and that I was in a bit of a hurry, to find something that fits my style.
With that said, we can all agree that boobs are incredible things. Well, unless you’re a homosexual male, or a butt person. But I digress. TO BATTLE!
Can we be a little more specific? What traits should I take? What runes should I use, what sigils? When I ask for something like this, I’m expecting full advice, not vague hints of what I SHOULD be doing with a class, I haven’t really played.
Christ. I hate to get mean here, but this is the second time you Rev players have done this to me. I mean seriously. I asked for a good universal build in the Guardian forms, got two or three.
I’d like a build somewhere along the lines of this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQNAT5ensABVDhddCmDB8DhlEi6aZDgEQ+5b+sPL/+vAE-T1RLwA+UC+SZAbVBAobgz+DxU69QtHA-we I use this for all three modes of the game, and it does a fantastic job.

So I came here a while back, when I first made my Revenant looking for a good universal build, that I can use PvE/SPvP/WvW and have fun with. I’m not fully sure on my weapon choices yet, but I am seriously leaning towards Sword Shield, and not sure for my secondary set of weapons, but thinking hammer for the range.
On my dragon hunter, Most of my gear is Beserker, with Soldier for the accessories, to help fill in some of the toughness. My weapons of choice are Mace, Shield, and Longbow with him, using a mix of meditations and traps to help with his survival and burst/AoE damage
I’d gladly post my Dragon Hunter’s build if not for the fact, that I can’t get the GW2Skill editor to load today. Not sure if they’re down, or my internet is just saying no to that one particular site.
Anyway, I’d love to see what advice you all have to offer.
Why is there not an option for the right Click > report player, option for reporting people for using cheats/hacks/exploits especially in PvP. I’m and sick to death of being at 25% health, using Renewed Focus, which is supposed to negate all incoming effects and damage, and yet some how still getting downed and stomped while “channeling” the ability.
So then I’m forced to actually write down the names of these people and open a ticket, to be told, it’s easier to right click and report, for features that aren’t even there.
In short, ARenaNet, PLEASE add a report for cheating button. Save us all a lot of time.
So am I the only one who sees something wrong here?
First thing I want to see is the return of town clothes as outfits, that can be dyed like they used to be, but in the outfits tab, and work like before vanishing when you enter combat.
Second Thing I would like to see, is Chairs we can sit on! It actually drives me mad there are all these chairs, and we can’t actually sit on them!
Third thing I’d love to see is the ability to save cultural armors as outfit sets, for say the cost of like ten to twenty transmutation charges. This would be great for those of us leveling new characters and get tired of seeing mix/match armor drops, or don’t like the look of some of our crafted armors of rare quality.
More coming as I think of them.
Okay hi there. I had amazing luck finding some REALLY helpful people giving me advice on my new guardian build over on the guardian forms, and got some positive feedback on my Mesmer Condition Torment/Confusion build over on the Mesmer forms, So here I am again stepping into new territory.
What I’m looking for, for my little baby Revenant, is a good leveling build, then an Endgame build that’s good in PvE, Arena, and WvW, like my dragonhunter build which translates across all three VERY well. http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQNAT5ensABVDhddCmDB8DhlEi6aZDgEQ+5b+sPL/+vAE-ThRLgAvKDeU/BQ3A3+DxK98VCGAABgbucbucbezA-e
Something like that, except for Revenants. I’m looking for a nice mix of damage with some solid, survivability. Keep in mind, I’m not looking to one shot, or rapid kill anything, and I’m not looking for a full on bunker. I’m basically just looking to be efficient in what I do.
As for weapons, I’m kind of looking at either dual swords, or Sword Shield, and I’m KIND of liking how staff skills are looking, but will totally use a hammer too.
I really look forward to seeing what advise you all have to give. And thank you in advance to those of you who take the time to help me out.
I just wonder how good torment is going to be in open world pve
It’s not very good. It works, it gets the job done eventually, it’s just not very good.
If you’re aware of your surroundings, and you’re careful about it, you can effectively kite your foes to make the most out of the build. Now admittedly on boss fights like Teq, you’re better served defending the minion spawn points and batteries than you are trying to fight Teq. In fractals where there are bosses you HAVE to kite, it’s actually a devastating build. But like I said, it requires a LOT of situational awareness.
Even in best case scenarios of mobs moving, it’s still not nearly as good as power damage unless they’re high toughness mobs like husks. This also requires you to stop fighting and start kiting. In a party, this now drags mobs away from everyone else, causing nothing but aggravation for everyone.
Idk what bosses you have to kite in fractals anymore, they got nerfed tremendously with the release of HoT. Even very high level bosses hardly tickle compared to pre-HoT, so there’s little reason not to push damage as possible. Even if you did have to kite them though, the build is far, far, far removed from ‘devastating’. You can keep up maybe 10-12 stacks of torment from shatters and blocking. That’s not very much when you consider engies can do more bleeding, plus poison, plus more burning than that. Even berserkers can do condie damage that leaves that in the dirt. It’s just not particularly good.
Including the fractal boss who you have to kite through lightning fields on the ground to destroy her shield, and applies a massive amount of bleeds if you try and face tank her? What about the boss, you have to drag under the lava pots to get through his ice shield?
I just wonder how good torment is going to be in open world pve

Above is a link to the build I use in PvP, WvW, and PvE. The basic idea is that you want to shatter your illusions instead of using them to confuse your foe, or deal damage through them, by shattering and applying a rapid barrage of stacking conditions, including the deadliest two, Confusion and Torment. while staying mobile through abilities like Illusionary Counter, The Prestige, and Phase Retreat to stay mobile, and keeping your foe chasing you and trying to use abilities, and of course with dodge roll.
Now unlike most builds, or at least builds that I have found, with this one you actually want to use a basic rotation in all three parts of the game.
Phantasmal Mage, Mirror Image, Confusing Images + Cry of Frustration, swap to staff, Phase Retreat, Mind Wrack, Phantasmal Warlock, and then either Distortion, or Diversion.
Now the reasons I chose Null Field, and Feedback over other illusion creating abilities was for the sake of survival, and aiding your team in WvW/PvP, also found them to be VERY useful when soloing in PvE. Sitnet of Humility, is just a fantastic ability all around, though, I’d advise Time Warp or Gravity well for world bosses.
In situations you need to be teamed up, I’d advise avoiding being in the thick of battle, try and be as far back as you can, and still being in range to get your abilities off. Needless to say, pepper in other abilities as needed to help with your survival if you can’t worm your way out of direct melee combat.

For PvE:
All you need is:
around 2500-2600 armour and no more! If your main weapon is the LB then you can go for a bit less (say 2400) if you prefer the mace aim for 2700 even 2800 since your mace heal can keep you up.HP: this is tricky. I’m absolutely confident with my 14k HP but your mileage may vary. This also depends on the traits-utilities. If you have traited meditations next to the traps you are fine. If you use shouts you might need a few thousands more.
Every other stat points go for damage! We have weak scaling with healing power (excluding a few like dodgeroll-heal).
So basically you need: soldiers, knights, and berserkers.
In PvP it’s a different story: try marauder (power-precision-ferocity-vitality).
If you feel this weak (i did Anno Domini…) try Barbarian! Toughness is a wasted stat (IMHO) on any guardian if not bunker! You can aim for something like this:
What do you suggest putting in my weapons?
I want to thank everyone so much for all the offered help. It is ever so greatly appreciated!
Okay so I want to play a bit of a bulwark style Dragon Hunter who uses a mace and shield for Melee, and of course a Longbow for range.
Any suggestions on what stats and weapon/armor enhancements I should use that would let me deal decent damage, AND give me good survival, along with secondaries like Shouts, Sigils, Consecrations, Meditations, or Traps. This is both for PvE/PvP so stat recommendations for both would be greatly loved.
At present I’m using Knights gear but feel like I’m not getting the survival I want out of it.
PS: I’d like to point out I’m not looking to do assassin/beserker level damage, or be as beefy as your full on bunker who just stands there and laughs, I’m looking for a solid middle ground, well for PvE anyway. IF I can pull it off in PvP as being able to survive just long enough to guard a point, while MAYBE pushing a foe back, that’d be awesome, but I’m not going to full on hold my breath.

Honestly ArenaNet, as much as I love your game, the work you put into it, and how hard you try to improve there is just one thing that makes me sit here and go “What the actual ****?!”, and that is the reactive traits to taking fall damage. This is of every game I have ever played, the most useless waste of programming I have ever seen. Aside from possibly map completion, there is no use for these traits what so ever. There is no dungeon path that I am aware of where you take fall damage getting to the boss, and even if there is, why would I take a one use trait, over something I can activate repeatedly throughout the fight, or gain continual passive benefit from and most certainly not in fractals, WvW, unless you foolishly decide to jump off a keep wall into the enemy zerg in hopes of doing what, other than dying, or Edge of the Mists, where again I’ll refer to WvW.
Surely there is something much better you could do, than just leave these useless wastes of space and coding there. Please, I desperately implore you to replace these with traits that people will actually want to take.

So I was peacefully enjoying a nice match in Forest of Niflhel, and all I read in chat was how OP the mesmer was, yet as being a Mesmer main it astounded me these claims were coming from a Guard and a War, is it just they are kitten players that do not have any concept of how to play their class and counter the weakest class in Spvp, or is the Mesmer really that good outside of Tpvp?
Mesmers are HARDLY a weak class. I myself main sPvP a Shatter condition build for confusion and torment. I turn the hardest hitting rogues, elementalists, and what have you, that isn’t a bunker into stomp fodder before I have time to swap my weapon.
Mesmers actually take a great deal of skill on their own to play in all forms of the game, because we have the most to actually keep track of.
I wouldn’t call us OP, or Weak. I’d say that we’re just right.
The real issue is that every Tom, kitten, and Harry, play a GS berserker mesmer with either fury phantasms, or shatter crit. Or then there’s just the laughable outcast, Prismatic understanding, anyway back to the point, that people are to blind to look for the following things when dealing with one of these mesmers.
1: The mesmer in the back, that’s running all over the place while the others stay stationary. This is BEYOND obvious.
2: The Mesmer with all of the stacking boons. Again, this is obvious. Just fast tab til you find the one with virtually every boon possible and then go for it.
3: Just swing wildly. This one is for the Prismatic Understanding mesmers who like to think it’s funny to go invisible, unload for a sec in point blank and then repeat, until one of you is dead. If you swing wildly, most generally in front of you, you will hit them.
Do these three things and you’re golden.
Cuz water combat is unbalanced and sucks in general.
Just like 4v5.

My awesome face roll build is disabled under water because I can’t use my lolwin weapons for when I am on land. I have to use actual skill to win now, and I don’t see the massive numbers like 5K hammer crits.
Get off it. Capricorn was my fave map, because of this fact. It forced a reliance on skill.
I want skyhammer out of rotation of SQ at least
Yeah lets just have another map pulled from sPvP like Capricorn, because people don’t like one particular mechanic, because their face roll build is not effective there, because of a one button kill.
To all of you I say, either don’t go into the hammer alone, meaning the cannon, unless you can secure yourself with stability like Stand your Ground, and watch your positioning on the floor where the cap points are.
I’m so sorry that your kittens have been drastically reduced by this one map.
Don’t get me wrong. It annoys the kitten out of me when a single bad player is able to have ONE good match, because of a knock back, pull or push. But oh well. I deal with it, or I don’t. As a guardian, I can rush the hammer for a 1v1, pop stand, block off the entrance with a wall, and Banish my foe off the edge after they fail to do it to me.
The answers to this map are far beyond obvious. I’m sorry you don’t have the strategic aptitude to see them.
I banish you from this map! swings his guardian hammer and screams “FOUR!”
So for almost a year I’ve been playing, and on and off doing sPvP with my guardian and Mesmer. I do fantastic with my mesmer as a shatter condition build focused around confusion, and torment.
My problem is, that my mesmer by far, seems to out survive my guardian, even when he is taking damage.
I’ve sat here, and I’ve tried every amulet, literally every rune, readily available in sPvP, every sigil, and virtually if not every trait combo I can find, or have thought of myself, Yet I cannot seem to achieve the effect I see a lot of other guardians doing, where they take little to no damage in a direct 1v1 fight, but are still able to hit with devastating force.
Time and time again, I’ve tried searching for guides, but since the feature pack, all of them are highly out of date, as a lot of the traits have been replaced, or just overhauled, to the point the calculators have empty slots, because the sites updated, but not the builds posted by people.
So now I’m here asking for help on how to pull this off. If ABkittenELY possible, I’d love to avoid just being another GS guardian in sPvP, but if it’s the road I have to go, then so be it.
I’m specifically asking for a build, I’ve seen where the Necromancer pretty much plants his feet, and just mass regenerates his health like a regeneration warrior, while somehow managing to still do decent damage. It uses dual daggers.
I’ve tried to figure out what the build is in 1v1 sPvP arenas, but cannot seem to replicate it.
Howdy y’all. Okay silliness aside. I was wondering if anyone could give me the trait build, rune, stats to go for, and abilities to use for the regeneration dual dagger necromancers I’ve seen in sPvP as of late. I have tried to figure this build out myself, and can’t seem to quite hit it. The amount of damage, and survival these players have seems almost unreal, and I would love to give this build a try.
I tried jumping to the gears from the underside, that didn’t work, didn’t even get close to working. I had to do it from the slope of the blade, and jump to the hilt. RP walked up the handle, to avoid slipping. But still it takes WAY to much work for this one vista, and then there’s this one.
I had to find a back way, because the path I watched other people take was not working at all for me.
I could blame the fact that I’m a Norn, but that’s just a lame excuse. It’s not even about poor coordination, or depth perception. It’s that the grade is to kitten steep.
Fix the False River Valley Vista.
Seriously, of all the map completion I’ve done to date, nothing has been this rage inducing. And the fact that you do not allow us a first person view for better depth perception and view of the terrain, is just ludicrous.
A picture included after 45 minutes of beating my face against the brick wall that is this vista!
(edited by Arrion.2185)
this is ridiculous. Only 10 achievements to choose from each day? I dont want to do PvE every day when I just want to do some sPvP. But you are forcing me to do it.
And the same goes for the opposite. I dont want to be forced into doing the 5 daily PvE achievements you force me to do. Since when was having a choice a bad idea?
Give us choices and let the player decide what they want to do.You are especially anger the casual gamer which have a hard time doing any pvp.
I am going to point out your short sightedness here. I’ve had days where I could complete my daily, fully in sPvP, and days when I could mix match, and days I could do it PvE only. It’s utterly random.
Because MMOs were totally meant for solo play. True facts brah. >_<
It’s not a bug. They’re trying to encourage us, to take part in the entire game, not just one aspect.
Honestly why people buy a game like this and focus only on one part to me makes utterly zero sense. It’s basically throwing away money on a five piece display set, and you only wanted one part of it.
Yes. Let us go back to our individual servers where the lowbie zones are void of life, leaving the new players without anyone to help them when they have questions to ask, and their friends, if any are in the game, are not online to ask. Lets go back to the barren empty cities on the lower population servers, and over crowded maps we get put into queue for, because you want to be a selfish little brat and worry about your own gear.
I personally like the way it is now. And if your guild, provided you have one, is not active almost around the clock, then perhaps you should look into joining a guild that is so you can call on them. It’s not as if the guilds aren’t VERY actively recruiting now.
I have to respectfully disagree with your view on what the game was like before megaservers were introduced.
IMO it was way easier to help new players, way easier to communicate with other players on the map, way easier to get someone to aid you in a quest before MS. It was way more heroic to do some world boss as you were not reduced to a single dot in a 150+ crowd autohitting a boss invisbly hidden in graphic effects while being afk. And my experience is from a lower population server. We had a community then. Now we have anonymous masses of other players I can easily view as NPCs, since I have never seen them before and probably will never again.
I really really don’t like this part of the patch. It killed my fun in open world pve in a way that even the emptiest of all empty maps couldn’t have done.
I get the feeling you’re not from Borlis pass, where round the clock, save for the Champ farm train of Queensdale, all the regions were barren save for maybe the higher level zones. Being level sixty, I wouldn’t know about the 70-80 zones populations. So if I found a champion being the reason I couldn’t work on a rep(heart), because there was no one else out there to help me kill it for map completion.
The Megaserver has resolved this horrid issue. So please, don’t come at this like you have a clue what it was like for us new players on lower population servers that were more silent than an empty church on New Years eve.

I’d like to suggest the return of village clothing, in it’s original form, that hides our weapons when we put it on. The idea of it being a stupid little item that takes up a space in our bank or inventory is jut well, not a happy idea at all.
Please let us have our village clothes back as they were.
Well it all depends on if you count their normal posture or not. If you do, then Norn are easily taller. Also, this is what happens when a REAL Norn punches a Charr in the jaw.
While I’m aware this is probably the wrong area for it, I would like to suggest that in the sPvP arena that constantly announces “Your base is under attack!” and “Your leader is under attack”, that you lengthen the time between the announcement.
Yes to all you others who are going to tell me to turn my game sound off, I am aware I can do this, but I enjoy the sounds of the game as they are my alert to where combat is happening, or if something is coming in behind me, or if a rogue or mesmer uses stealth close enough to me for me to hear it, to get the jump, before I can launch my own attack.
So I got to thinking about it, even tried a bit of research on the Wiki lore page, and could not find anything that says how tall any of the races are.
I am excessively curious about the tallest Norn can grow in feet/inches.
Dignity. Guardians are divine wielders of magic, think Paladin from Dungeons and Dragons. They are proud warriors who are not ashamed to drop back, pick up a staff and support their allies. You use your strength of will as well as your physical strength to get the job done. On top of all of that you are a Norn. A warrior, a hunter, a slayer, a shape shifter. You follow the spirits and protect them. You are seeking to make a legend worth telling. One that brings dignity to your people!
I beg to differ. As a BBunker/Beserker build using Knights gear, I deal some rather serious damage, with a decent bit of healing to back my survival, letting me on average handle a fair number of creatures at once, in some cases, even multiple veterans.
I took both bear and Wolf forms, and while Bear most certainly got the short in having two push attacks, and no gap closer, that doesn’t make a bigger gap, by being a push, while the wolf on the other hand lets me handle twice as many monsters, and almost twice as fast, boosting my crit from 20% to 80% and granting me an insane amount of regeneration, while stacking a fast paced bleed on everything in front of me, and allowing me to siphon life from every target I hit.
I have yet to play with Raven, or reach enough points to get Snowleopard, but I would NOT write off the shape shift racials of the norns.
As for the Owl and Ice Worm, both are excessively situational. I would say that if you are a warrior, with a bleed build, the owl could be a potentially huge asset, in not only the fact that it applies a bleed, but puts another target on the field, making tab targeting that much harder. The worm is pretty much just a mortar, that doesn’t move, or apply conditions of any kind far as I know. So yes, unless again you are just looking to put another target on the field, this one does indeed seem utterly useless.
Which now has me curious as to if they count as spirit weapons for the sake of a spirit weapon build. Can anyone confirm this?
I did log in and out after the patch, and still my dailies have not reset.
It seems they know about it, and IF I read the post correctly, they even know the cause of the problem. So that leaves me wondering why it has not been resolved yet.
I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue, but this is the second day in a row, my daily has not reset, preventing me from getting the rewards chest, and achievement points for doing the daily.
So I’ve tried just about every possible combination of Trait/rune/sigil combination I can think of, and nothing seems to be working for me.
So I’m here to ask for advice on a build for Mace/Shield, Hammer main and secondary weapon builds that either makes me hard has hell to deal with, or lets me tear through players like they were naked and sleeping.
I would like to ask that this be kept to helpful advice.
Actually, I’ve been around since late last fall, or early last winter. Been playing on and off when friends have time, so I just learned about the Cultural weapons a few days ago.
Double checking it, The Asura T2 Cultural weapons vendor sells Sylvari T2 weapons. Me thinks this is a MASSIVE oversight.
So am I the only one here who sees the Sylvari Tier one Cultural Weapons veondor selling Asura tier one cultural weapons?
This thread, it makes me happy!
As a role player myself, on Borlis pass, you should have seen my jaw drop when at two AM I go to Hoelbrak and see people of all races in it. This Mega server may not be such a bad idea as I initially thought.
Did the chat channels all become disabled except for emotes?
If so, why?
Also, where the heck are our villager clothes we started out with?
Reason I ask the last question is because I cannot find them no matter where I look in my wardrobe.
While listening is good, going by their own vision is important. The player-base will never be happy and they will never please everyone, re-working everything over and over is a cycle that will never end, since there will always be players complaining about how the system works.
Anyone needing hard proof of this, can go to any battle.net game forum, and look at the general topics, or if you can find the archives for the suggestion forums of WoW.
You can try all you want to please your player base, but you will never do it fully. So with this I give both NCsoft and Arena net something to chew on. kitten suggestions. There is NOTHING I mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you can do to make each and everyone of us happy. You can balance the classes until the dying days of your companies, and NEVER satisfy all of us. So make your game. Make it how YOU want it to be, and let those of us who find enjoyment in it be happy with what you have given us. NEVER forget that this is YOUR game, and NOT ours.
The Secret World, does something like this, but far as I know, unlike Guild Wars 2, and Neverwinter, there’s no way to trade in game money, for Store money.
But as this is Arena Net, they will likely do what they did with Guild Wars, and release a hundred expansions, that you have to buy.
I don’t think it’s falling on Devona’s Rest. There were more people than ever on the Queensdale Champion Train yesterday.
Train?
Boar.
Just wait at Boar.
This is what Borlis Pass looks like with the Krytan Champion train.
A colorblind mode would be nice, though I don’t know of any NCsoft/Arenanet titles that use it. Fact is, only game I’ve seen actually introduce one, is one I refuse to name.
Okay, just not used to having a service like that ask for my serial key, so you can imagine how that set off mental alarms.
