I think hearts are a like training wheels. They give new players easy missions so they can learn to find events or learn exploring. So not having them outside hot is a good idea.
Oh yeah, I guess I was a little lazy with the problem solving, sorry.
When you open Overwolf (The default keybind is Ctrl+Tab) and go into the settings, you can find Browser settings right away in the general settings. Untick the “Use Overwolf Browser to open links” option and you’re good to go.
Edited the instructions, I wasn’t 100% sure if it worked since I didn’t get to test it before. By now I tested it, should work like this.

Fix went out with today’s hotfix and works correctly; just turned the /v2/characters endpoint back on.
If you think that’s bad, may I direct you to a certain plant soldier in Camp Resolve that’s worried about Mordremoth having the ability to strike anywhere.

Greetings,
I would like to request (and I’m pretty sure a lot of players agree with most of the suggestions below) that certain materials be added to the materials storage. It’s been a long time and we still hoard them in our account banks or character inventories, taking up unnecessary space. And almost all of them mentioned below are used in crafting recipes. Even the mystic clovers, which are not used in any crafting recipe at all, earned their personal slot in the materials storage! I’d like to encourage players who see this thread and agree with the suggestions, don’t hesitate to post your opinion.
The materials are:
- Milling Basin
- Copper Doubloon
- Silver Doubloon
- Gold Doubloon
- Platinum Doubloon
- Bottle of Elonian Wine
- Amalgamated Gemstone
- Shimmering Crystal
- Tenebrous Crystal
- Blade Shard
- Agony Infusions (all +’s if possible, else at least the +1’s)
Lastly, perhaps you could consider converting certain “keys” used to open map chests into currencies in the wallet (I’d assume it’s more complicated to create a new “key storage” window, hence why I suggest wallet currencies), to avoid having to transfer all of them across characters, should a player decides to play a different profession. For ease of use, they could appear as currency at the bottom of the inventory window, depending on which map the character is located in, similarly to how Airship Parts appear in the inventory when we are in Verdant Brink:
- Zephyrite Lockpick
- Bandit Skeleton Key
- Key of Greater Nightmares
- Pact Crowbar
- Exalted Key (why does this still come with a blue name? all other keys have a yellow name :P)
- Vial of Chak Acid
- Machete
If you like the ideas please post below and share your opinions!

I’ve never thought it was about bot control. I always assumed it was about letting the server keep up with EVERYONE’S transactions.
How about the Wintersday quest, Warming Grawnk’s Heart, where an poor orphan sends you a letter begging you to find his stolen ornaments.
You find them all right. And he pays you for them. But do you give the stolen ornaments back to him? Noooo. You don’t. You keep them and I bet most of you salvaged them right in front of him to get whatever you can to sell. Then you steal his one, solitary Wintersday present from underneath his tree, and then you leave.
You helping him get his stolen ornaments back was all a lie.
ANet may give it to you.
Why would you even do tribulation mode before unlocking everything in normal mode?
I think the problem with raiding is that ‘min maxing’ is often disguising an attempt by an individual to mold a group into something that’s fits into a their narrow perception on how thery understand a fight, they try to normalize and simplify. Learned behaviour. This is the opposite of the Guild wars ethos where diversity of build is to be embraced. an example would be 1 person has maximized their build for dps, another hasn’t, and has less dps but more auras that suit their style of gameplay. The reality is that both groups would do just as well.

but would also result in a product that might not satisfy anyone”- Roman Pichler, Strategize
I’m not afraid of raids, I’m just not interested in that type of content. Always someone ordering you around, telling you what to equip, where to stand, what skills to use. That’s just not my thing but I’ve got no problem with raids being in the game. I’m amazed that the devs did not give raiders a dedicated LFG channel or some sort of “lobby” to help them assemble and prepare.
There are plenty of raid guilds out there and they do advertise in LA chat.
Considering that all second generation legendaries excluding the upcoming shortbow are “indefinitely suspended”, it is not undue to ask the the Mystic Tribute can be salvaged into it’s component materials. A lot of people had been getting ready for a new legendary and being pragmatically enthusiastic, started preparing now. I myself was going to make either the new sword, scepter, or shield. Seeing as there is no timetable on that I feel it is necessary to demand that we are able to salvage the Mystic Tribute since it’s such a costly and time consuming item to make.
Ahhh, so now we know the real reason Colin jumped ship….
I definitely don’t want anet to change the asuras body type, but it would be really nice to use more of the female versions of outfits.
( On a less related note, it would be awesome if you could switch between the different gendered outfits regardless of sex! )
I didn’t respond to the actual topic earlier, so here it goes:
When Fractals were released so many years back, they got the latest shinny (Ascended Rings), in a similar manner Raids got the new shinny (Legendary Armor).
I for one believe that allowing players to get Envoy Armor (the name of the Raid legendary armor) outside Raids would hurt the game more than help it. But another named Legendary Armor through other content types wouldn’t be unreasonable at all, in the same way how Fractals and PVP give a different Legendary back item.
Although I can understand why some players are upset about the Legendary Armor acquisitions, may I remind everyone that we don’t know how we will get Legendary Armor yet? We don’t have the full collection yet, and that collection we see now is only the first tier. What will be required for tier 2 and maybe tier 3?
Can the “Add Legendary Armor through other types of content” resume after we get the chance of crafting the first Legendary Armor? Then we can talk about adding it elsewhere. It gets to the point that people want to get things “locked” behind some other content, before that other content awards them.
And the new Ascended Trinket stats that are available only in the Raid would make excellent additions for LS3 achievements, exactly how LS2 worked. I’d urge caution and patience on the subject as we don’t know the full plan yet.
I like the idea of receiving the current Map Bonus reward, though I’m not sure what one would receive if one happened to level up in a Starter Zone or City.
They could make it so once you have achieved all the xp needed for your masteries in tyria/HoT (or when you hit level 80 for non-HoT players) your xp bar is replaced by a zone reward progress bar, which is increased slowly with xp gain (in addition to the large amounts of progress from completing events).
They could even add an interface when clicking on the bar that would show all the rewards and your progress. It’d be much better than the frequently broken reward preview on the world map.
IMO, spoilers should be allowed when the movie is usually not shown in cinemas anymore?
well, now that we cleared that up i would love to farm me some gifts. for that however i would need to be able to join the jp instance. how the kitten is that not fixed yet? it has been days.
Probably isn’t going to be fixed this year. Arenanet needs their vacations. They can’t let Guild Wars 2 keep them from their families.
which is somewhat ironic, since they seem to expect players to abandon their christmas family time for GW2.
“Oh boy, new content that I might be able to access a year from now!” Said nobody when they logged in and saw the 10k drink requirement.
If you’re going to present people with a set of achievements centered around a time-limited event, odds are they’re going to be upset when some part of those achievements requires either an obscene amount of time or in-game currency to complete during the event.
It’s a Mad Mad world!…Of Tyria.
Here’s a thought. The 10k drinks should be on par with the other 9 parts of the collection.
So based on my experience (A Humble, mid to low skilled casual player):
I had most of the items for the Mystic Forge so I saved in Gold there, but you need 150 Mystic Coins and the Sigils + Runes might be exspensive. But hey, that’s three, done in 10-15 minutes.
What next?
Ah, the events!
JP x 3, took me 30 minutes of retrying, did not enjoy it.
Bell Choir x 3 songs, 4-6 minutes, got lucky, suck at these things and surprise, was not fun, won’t be doing it again.
Snowball Mayhem x 3 Victories, 6½ Hours, granted I am bad at PvP, but seriously, unlucky or ridiculous?
Toycapolypse, 30 waves (Acchiv says 50, but I only did 30, ah well), this was fun, not very rewarding, but fun, about 1 hour 10 minutes there.
And then the last item, 3 times watching a Dragon being bullied by a achievement-hunting horde of players. 1½ day due to me having a bad sleeping pattern.
So I got 9/9 in 1-2 days. Wait, are you telling me there’s 10?
No problems, it shouldn’t be so hard, considering the time and effort I put into the other 9.
10,000 Drinks. I got ~600 without farming, during the time I did the other 9.
This is not reasonable. Now, it still require you to put in a 100-150g without the drinks, but with them, it’s 1000g with current prices, if you buy them. So farm them?
Yes, because that is what this game is all about, farming things. And I got a time-limit on me! So I need to reach a quota every day, and compensate for days lost to me wanting to play other games, go on holiday events or doing anything else then play the game!
So here I am at 9/10, and the last step is more boring, time consuming and/or expensive then the other 9 combined, by far!
Put it down to 1000, so it’s on par (Or slightly above), to the other 9 ANet, stop being silly, please.
And I know, I don’t have to do this, but except the AP from the meta, there’s nothing else to gain from this Holiday Event, the Shoulders ARE the main event, it’s the only item on display which have any kind of credit to it. Be it only for your own satisfaction or if you are one of those people who like to flaunt your E-pen at others.
That’s my thought of this all. There’s nothing “Entitling” about wanting it to be reasonable on par with other requirements of the Collection, it just makes sense considering it got a time-restraint.
Fix this now.
I think people are getting confused between the two chests that can be obtained for your home instance. The OP is talking about the enchanted treasure chest, which doesn’t require a key, and can only be opened by players who have completed the collection that unlocks it (although they should be able to open it as a guest in another player’s instance). I think everyone else is talking about the bandit chest, which anyone with a key can open.

Perhaps I am just lucky but I got this on my first try. Here’s how I did it:
(read it on reddit somewhere)
First do the pre event and gather all the stuff (don’t remember the name), but instead of giving it to the npc, you keep it. After pre event you go to shatterer and wait for 5-8 minutes. During this time you can always try to get crystalized, who knows. Then exit map and re-enter. You will most likely now be in a pretty empty map which hasn’t done the pre. So do the pre and then the shatterer will spawn. It will now be much easier because there will be much less people. I think when I did it there were still around 20 people or so. Good luck.
When you compute those numbers into actual crafting materials, it is this much.
There’s no journey other than TP war of hunting those ores.I’m not disagreeing that the amount required is high.
I am disagreeing that buying them on the Trading Post the only way to do it.
When I crafted my three legendaries I gathered all the ore for them myself. I gathered that 1000 Platinum Ore… and you know what? Didn’t actually take that long. A couple of hours whilst I watched videos. So 10,000 Iron Ore? 2 hours a day for, say, 10 days? It is doable, indeed, I pre-gathered a few thousand each of iron, platinum and wood prior to HoT’s release so I think I’m in quite a good position if I choose to craft something.
I think ArenaNet’s idea behind precurser crafting is to give you the ability to craft a precurser in chunks. You can break it up however you want. I’d choose to see 1000 Iron Ore as a “chunk”; something I could do on an evening when I’m tired after work but still want to feel like I’m progressing. I’d only have to rinse-and-repeat nine times to complete the 10,000 total ore.
Do you see my point? Probably not.
TL;DR. The Trading Post isn’t the only option. You can gather it…it’s just people don’t want to.
If you have the time and patient to do this boring mining all days, I’d use them on grinding gold on fighting mobs and buy them on tp instead, which is more fun and actually quicker than gathering mats.
The end result is exactly the same, just that grinding gold is actually much faster and more engaging.
You probably can’t see my point either because even mining all days and doing nothing else is considered fun to you. I vote labyrinth grinding more fun than gathering because there’s actually bosses to fight that requires strategy, thinking, and dodging.
You only need to mine 90 iron and 40 plat to make your deld ingot each day. I went to the NW corner of brisban and had 15 iron from the rich node alone in about 30 seconds. In 4 more minutes running around the canyon I probably hit 6 more iron nodes and had 39 iron plus a couple of logs. Focusing on the rich node areas, its like 15 minutes to get a day’s ore. buying the same amount costs you 3.5 gold. There aren’t many permanent activities that yield 14g/hr after tp fees.
After you do that you have the rest of your day’s playtime to come up with one ecto and ~75 silver to buy the mithril and reagent for the mithrillium. Slowly but surely you will get there. But in the instant gratification world of today, I know that this is hard.
These precursor related mat sinks (esp. mithril) are actually needed to keep the economy in some semblance of balance. Ask how much fun it would be if everything was at vendor value and your drops were completely worthless? (even more so than they are now)
tl;dr – break up the task, take your time and it won’t feel so grindy. The tortoise wins.
I think people complaining about the price of precursor crafting, and that it sometimes is even more expensive than buying it outright don’t really seem to grasp the point of it. In the past, everyone, even those playing only an hour per day due to work/family, could farm all the mats for the legendary on their own, without help or without the need for gold. It would be a very tedious process yes, but if say, you farmed SW, with EXP boosters, Karma boosters and good magic find for an hour each day and then maybe another hour to open all the chests for the keys you’d farm, you’d probably be able to get around 10-20 t6 mats/day. At this rate, a couple of months would be enough to get all the mats you need. By that time you’d also have enough obsidian, skill points/spirit shards, karma and enough gold to buy things like 100 icy runestones. However, since you’re hoarding it all, you don’t build up enough cash to be able to buy a precursor. That would require more focussed farming where you DO sell everything and make about 15 ish gold in the short time you play. This would add a couple more months to the process. Meaning that for Joe Casual, a legendary might take months, up to even a year. And this is a casual that would know how to be efficient. Most aren’t even that. Now you can work on your Precursor similarly to how you work on all the gifts that require mats. Slow and steady, never needing to make big purchases. In the end you might spend the same or more than just buying it but some people are better off paying for it in relatively small amounts rather than a large amount in one go. Most people don’t buy a house in one go either. You pay more for your house if you take a bank loan and pay interest every month than if your were to buy the house all in one go (not sure if this is how it goes in america but in europe this is how it works). Nobody thinks this is weird at all since no one would be able to buy a house if bank loans didn’t exist. And right now, almost no casuals have legendaries because they cannot pay for the precursor in one go. That’s why precursor crafting was introduced.
If you have the Jotun Star unlocked in the collection, you should be able to complete the “Laying the Star to Rest” by visiting the runestone near Heimdall’s Last Stand- it checks that you have recieved the star, not that you have it with you.
Grinding. I don’t think it means what you think it means.
Typically people refer to grinding as repeatedly performing the same dull content over and over for minor rewards.
So far I havn’t seen evidence of any of that. For legendaries atleast it seems like youl have to perform a wide variety of actions to complete them. Infact that seems about as as far from a grind as it can get. As youl likely only perform an act a few times in order to get an individual piece. But youl need ALOT of different pieces in different places attained different ways. Thats not a grind as ive heard the word used in Every mmo ive played since EQ1
First off, huge thank you to Joel (and anyone else) for all the work he’s put into this! As someone who’s used the auto-hotkey based combat mod, it’s extremely nice to see an “official” version of it being added to the game. Secondly I wanted to offer some feedback about what was shown in the stream.
First, currently it appears that you are aware of being in action mode by the presence of the crosshair. While I do like the simple design choice of the target, a stronger indicator of if you are in action mode or not would be useful for players who may wish to switch in and out frequently. Particularly this is useful for those that want to place ground targeted skills somewhere other than the center of the screen but maintain vision on the things they are fighting. Currently, when we’re in combat there is a yellow highlight that surrounds our skill bar to help indicate this, perhaps something similar for action mode?
Second, control over mouse bindings would be appreciated. Currently we in the control options menu we are able to set up to two bindings for each action we want to take (for instance move forward is “w” or “up arrow” by default). We are able to use any keyboard key as a control, but are unable to set mouse controls such as “right click” or “scroll up”.
It would be nice if there was a way we could set “action controls”, which included mouse commands, which would replace the normal control options when action camera was turned on. For example, in normal play “scroll up/down” are used for zooming the camera – but when action camera is active, a player could bind them to “next/previous target”. This would also help solve the developer debate mentioned in the livestream about what to make right mouse – players could then set right mouse to whatever fits their playstyle the best (with set focus target being a category within the control options menu).
Anyway, those are it for my suggestions for now. Once again, it looks great so far so thank you very much for all you hard work!
Honestly they should just make WvW team selection randomized per season, stop calling them servers, and treating them like servers.
If you’re in a guild, the guild is assigned a team at the beginning of each season, if you’re in multiple guilds, the system asks you which guild you’d like to join for the wvw season (without telling you the team name the guild is going to) if you’re not in any guilds at all, it simply assigns you as an individual.
The system can then load balance it using collected wvw metrics like wvw ranks, average login times, etc. to ensure an even distribution across all teams at the start of each season, and thus each season would be competitive, with high ranking teams naturally rising to the top and low ranked teams naturally dropping to the bottom, and generally better and more competitive distribution overall.
You know, use matchmaking to make WvW more fun and competitive, and ditch the server model that causes so much stagnation and server hopping problems.
