As title says, I’m looking for a PvP guild preferably on DH, but doesn’t have to be. i’m more than likely not going to change my server for WvW. I main ranger and mes, but don’t mind learning other things.
Oh, I wasn’t intending to stay as warrior, haha. I just wanted to see the hype about the build. It was astounding how easily it was to overpower multiple players at one time. Honestly, I’ve playered all professions, with the exception of Ele and Engi, and the hambow was by far the easiest to use & abuse.
Hey there,
I’ve been away from this game for about a month now and I hear about how everyone is complaining about the hambow warrior, so I wanted to give it a try. I went to a random site and literally copied & pasted the build into PvP and started some hotjoins. I couldn’t believe what was happening… I, a person who has never done anything with the warrior (I play ranger), was able to take on 2-3 (normally 2) players at a time on a point and either won the skirmish or was able to survive till another ally or enemy showed up.
This is ridiculous for the sheer fact that i was just pressing buttons and hoping for the best. I’ve played the ranger for ~500 hours and the warrior no more than 65 hours and it took practice for me to be able to take on multiple opponents at one time on the ranger, whereas i just button-smashed my way to victory with the warrior’s hambow build.
I’m not suggesting to nerf the build into oblivion, because it is a viable build, but at least take away some of the burst damage from this CC/tanky build.
P.S. – sorry if this came off as ranting. In all seriousness, I really am trying to prove a constructive point.
See ya in game,
Arzen
New trait: Endowed Focus – ability to stow pet and gain all benefits of pet.
Well darn, they moved my thread to the ranger thread… they could’ve at least placed it into another profession’s thread, haha. Well anyway, thank you guys for your posts; the good and the sarcastic. I placed this in the PvP thread, but i guess it wasn’t good enough to stay there. BUT i still want a challenge! I’ll whisper you Atherakhia in-game
Hi all, I’m tired of reading how rangers are broken and that the need a complete overhaul, so this is a invitation to anyone who thinks they can defeat my ranger in a duel. Just mail/message me in-game and let me prove you you wrong. Seeya around!
Hey everyone, I don’t really post on these forums very much, but I thought I would for once. I always see posts about people wanting to know what build is best for a certain aspect of the game and I just can’t set back and watch someone go the same path I did when I started playing. People have been getting builds confused with skill lately, so I wanted to share a type of guide for the new players to try out. Hope you like it.
1.) Pick a race and profession you think are cool.
- a.) Honestly, this sounds like it shouldn’t even be a part of a guide, but it’s very important. I can’t even begin to tell you the number of people that decide to delete a character and their progression because they hate their race/look.
2.) Play you class to lv 80 in PvE
- a.) This will allow you to learn your profession’s mechanics at your own pace. Basically, you’re learning in easy mode.
- b.) If you have the gold, try to switch between weapon sets every 10 levels.
- i.) (e.g., 21-30, you could use sword/dagger & short bow, then use axe/warhorn & longbow from 31-40)
- ii.) This will allow you to recognize which weapons work best with your play style.
- iii.) Try to do every dungeon that is available to you at least once every 10 levels or whenever a guild-mate needs assistance.
- a.) This will get your familiar with the dungeons & it it’s a nice way to make some gold and keep your armor up-to-date.
3.) Play PvP for at least 10 levels
- a.) After already leveling to 80, you should know what all your weapons can do and know which are combo friendly. Now for the hard part. PvP will teach you the hard way that timing is everything. Yes, you will get lucky just pressing buttons every once in a while, but never against a skilled player. Each player brings something new to the table. From the way they react and dodge to the way they use their skills, traits, and armor. 10 levels aren’t much, but by the time you get to your goal, you should be able to say you have some skill.
- b.) Honestly, this is the best way to increase your skill with a profession. PvE is nice suggest trying team matches after you have some more skill under your belt. Team matches are on another level compared to random arena.
4.) Gear up
- a.) This is the most expensive part, and that’s why it comes after the PvP. In PvP, you should’ve come to understand what kind of playstyle you enjoy, so your armor should sort of resemble the amulet/runes/sigils you used in PvP with slight variation to your own choosing.
5.) Go own some people in WvW
- a.) In my opinion, this isn’t as fun as PvP to me, but it’s always hilarious to take on several people at one time and out-class them on a so called “broken class”. (I play ranger)
Hope you enjoyed my simple guide. Hope it helps in some way!
I was thinking the same thing, but at the log-in screen, it never suggested that it was waiting on a authorization confirmation. Either way, I also checked my email at the time of trying to log in, but it never sent a E-mail.
On the same note, while i was playing Final Fantasy XIV, I kept trying to log in to GW2, and finally it let me log on for ~10min, then kicked me out and I wasn’t able to log on again. When I got home though, I was able to log on finally. I still have no idea why I kept having problems with the campus connection though.
Hi there,
While I was waiting for one of my classes to start, I thought I’d log into GW2 for a second to do my daily, but when I tried to log in (the screen where you can see your account name and password) by pressing the “LOG IN” button, the client just seemed to be stuck on loading. The weird thing is that the client was still running (the loading circle was still moving) and it never loaded.
So obviously i figured it was the college internet that was the problem (like a firewall), so I wanted to test this out by seeing if I could play another online game (Final fantasy XIV) and it loaded correctly and I was able to play the game.
Is there anyone out there that could give me some advice or explanation as to why I cant log on to GW2? Any help would be great! Thanks!
Really like some of the opinions you guys posted! Yes, I figured players would ask for vigor, yet like the above player said, he’s running a trap build so vigor traits/skills are out of reach. That 50% endurance regen could mean life or death to them.
I was just thinking to myself: WHAT IF the capture points in PvP worked like they do in WvW?
Would be interesting, to say the least. What are your opinions on this?
Haven’t really seen anyone post about this yet, so I wanted to bring it up and see what you guys have to say about it.
From reading over the possible December patch-notes, it really seems like they really want to cut down on the evasiveness of the Ranger. for example, the cut the Wilderness Survival trait down from 50% increase duration to 25%. I know it’s just a minor trait, but that little thing helps out a bunch! Try playing a ranger without it… You can see why most Rangers run it after they play without out for a bit.
If I had to address Anet about this upcoming nerf to the Rangers endurance regeneration, I would suggest instead of lowering the regeneration, just place it as a major trait.
What is your opinion on this, guys?
Hey guys! I’m kinda new to the thief, so i was wondering if I could get some opinions on this build i created.

If it sucks, I can understand. Most of my experience comes from playing ranger, so I’m a noob when it comes to thief. Well anyway, on to how I would play this build:
1. Start off with using signet and poison before the fight.
2. Rush in with Infiltrator’s Strike then swap to P/D and use Shadow Strike.
3. Shadowstep back in with Steal, then another Shadow Strike.
4. At this point, it’s really a free-for-all.
Any and all opinions of this build would be great! Thanks!
After reading all these posts about how pets are being one shotted by the new Tequatl, it just made me think about how awesome it would be if pets gained a second of invulnerability when we dodged. I know it will be to controversial if it was implemented in PvP and WvW, but I could see it viable in PvE and would solve a lot of complaints.
P.S. While we’re at it, they could do the same for necro’s minions in PvE
Sure thing. I’ll contact you soon.
My friend and I are looking for a team to TPvP with. I’m r22 and main a ranger and he’s r31 and can play any class great. We each have over 100 PvP matches for sure and we both have plenty of time for practice and tournies. If interested, please PM me. We’re both [NA] EST
I love all the pets Anet has given us, but some pets i think they should add would be:
1. Stingray
2. Rock Dog (would love this)
3. Bat (any kind)
4. Oakheart (mini would be awesome!)
5. Skale
6. Dolphin
7. Imp
8. Dragon (mini or course. Maybe make it a scavenger hunt like you do with the black moa in GW1)
9. Fox
Honestly, the Oakheart and Dragon were just fun ideas but the others would make more sense.
He’s talking about their clones and phantasms. They are considered pets just like the necro’s minions and our animal companions.

Just as the title says: every time I go to start the launcher for Guild Wars 2, I have to download 10k worth of KB files for some odd reason or another. Can anyone tell me if they are experiencing the same problem as I am or is it just me. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!
