Eh… from what I remember TD music is pretty good and blend really well with the map .

I think he/she is unlucky and only wp into Chak Gerent fail maps: when the Chak Gerent event fails, DS music start to play and simple keep looping just the “two chords with a slide in the middle” part forever lol

How does one solo HoT?

Read and/or watch some guides at Dulfy about Hero Points, Masteries Insights and Strongboxes, they are really useful if you’re not familiar with HoT maps. Adventures are good for exp and mastery points too.

Verdant Brink and Auric Basin in general always have a good amount of people playing so you will not need get into a taxi/squad/group to do the events (simple follow what people was doing like in Central Tyria events). Tangled Depths while have people doing events too, the map is too confusing without at last Updraft, Bouncing Mushrooms and Lean Techniques at last. Dragon Stand is a huge chain event in map format, aside some Hero Points and almost all map exploration, if you want to do it simple try to get into the map 15-10 minutes before the reset, don’t worry people always explain what you need to do there if you ask – see the timers here https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Event_timers

Finally, since you play as a Reaper play with a minion master build, they will tank anything for you. If you have already unlocked “Rise!” use it for more minions and damage. You can solo way more things than most professions as a Reaper, but you can’t solo everything.

Got gold on this the month the xpac came out, you just have to think about spots to skip that you can. Not that hard

The problem is the latency, it makes the controls a mess in adventures in general and The Fungus Among Us is one that it hits the hardest since the “press jump” is really trick to do even with low latency.

For me this is a adventure impossible to make Gold since I play with high latency (250 ms), and I don’t know why but it feels like I’m playing with 500+ ms during adventures. The controls get really sluggish and high demanding moviment skills don’t work as they should: or move way more than they should or don’t move at all – at last this only happens on adventures and Elementalist Staff skill 4 on Fire attunement – and this make some adventures really unforgiving to play to get more than bronze/silver.

The state of thick leather

Agreed, the changes on T5/T6 together with the new stats impacted really hard on leather users.

And the T6 is a hell to farm… While is easy to get medium lv80 exotic gear (Bladed Armor), if someone needs anything that isn’t Berserker/Carrion/Cleric/Dire/Rampager/Shaman, this poor person is doomed if he/she decided to craft by itself – if is just the Viper stat, this person is really doomed…

Is way cheaper to buy Orichalcum Ingots (2 ores) and Bolts of Gossamer (2 scraps) than a single Hardened Leather Section, and you will need 3 per Hardened Section Square lol

Gem prices have doubled in price.

From my understanding, this is how it goes:

  • Exchanging gold for gems will raise the exchange rate.
  • Exchanging gems for gold will lower the exchange rate.
  • Buying gems with money does nothing, because those gems don’t get introduced to the pool if you hold onto them or spend them directly on gem store items.

So plenty of people could actually be spending real money on the gem store, but as long as they don’t convert those gems to gold it won’t affect the exchange rate.

Exactly, I like sometimes buy some gems, but I’ll never convert then for gold since isn’t worth: is easy to get gold ingame to buy what I want on TP and what I can’t afford even if I farm like a crazy (legendary weapons, permanent licenses like hair style one) I’ll need to spend my entire salary on gems to get a chance to buy something like that… And is cheaper craft/get a ascended weapon and but a total makeover kit anyways lol

You see, in general we don’t have much advantages to convert gems to gold, is better buy gems for buy what you want directly at Gem Store or simple farm gold ingame, no matter if what people want is in the Gem Store item or in the TP.

Maybe if things get more atractive for people buy gems for turn into gold can solve this problem*, but can put this in the pay to win line…

*is only a problem for people who hate farm anything and don’t want spend a penny on the game. While doubled the exchange prices, is 4x or more easy to get gold ingame right now no matter the game mode aside for people who do RP all day on the cities 24/7.

@CindyKa yes that is true, these events give lots of keys and the vet vinetooth spawn all day, not only at the challenges (10-15 min spawn time I think), people can farm keys and aurillium easy from then since they are easy to solo.

@Friggarn I agree, is the only hot map that you can loot everything and still be hoarded with keys and currency. I don’t see a problem on grand chests giving lots of rewards, but the key/aurillium generation is too high.

At same time, at last the Noxious Pods at DS should get a buff on their reward drops: for the amount work, time and coordination that you need on the entire map, they don’t look rewarding enough – and would fix a replay flaw that DS have, it is a map with expire date, when people don’t need anything from there anymore they simple stop to go to the map and do the meta. In a long time period that can bring trouble since less people doing the meta, less chance for people that still needs to play at the map get what they want there.

Every player getting the same amount of keys as each player in the group I am unsure of. Reason why, every time I do the 4 gate events during the challenge events. The amount of keys I get can vary and sometimes a lot. Now if the number rewarded is random and everyone participating is given the same random number then yeah all is equal. And yes I was also talking about map hopping when farming chest not for events. I can get enough keys from the events I mentioned and by exchanging the map currency gained from those events and from the grand chest. I have plenty of keys to just farm grand. When I start farming the great chest as well I run out pretty quick though.

Each outpost chain events have a diferent amount of rewards. Some give way more keys, some give way more aurillium, that can be used to buy more keys. By only events itself you don’t get enough keys for 3+ maps (1 and a half if you loot everything), but you will be hoarded with currency to buy and/or stock more keys.

The 12 keys from the daily chest are lets say “overkill”. You don’t need it, yet you will choose it since the other options are really meh.

I would assume the reason is for the same reason you can loot noxious pods

but you can’t? Unless they changed this in the April patch, you’ve never been able to loot pods on an alt.

Have some Noxious Pods on DS maps, no matter if it is a active one or not (before the QoL had way more), so you can loot everything there and change alt to do again. You can get lots of flax and other gathering mats too. Always have people roaming a “dead” DS map farming.

New players are not crippled. They either need to use better inventory management to not be hoarders or they can make the purchases for those QoL upgrades.

Most new players are F2P ones, they don’t have the option to buy gems for gold or even most things on TP aside basic crafting mats and gear.

Gold itself isn’t a problem for new B2P players if they don’t start to lv up a crafting profession early since most crafting mats always had a good price for sell on TP. And you don’t need a huge amount of gold here on GW2, except if want something really expensive on TP like a rare skin, really rare dyes, legendary weapons or even a permanent item, like bank access for example.

And because the 2g that you get doing the 3 dailies, if even easier for new players get gold right now lol

1 – Yes, it is fun (for me at last), but I’m a “open world” person here on GW2. Yet for what I saw on the raid fights, they are really nice.

2 – Most grinds you can do together at the same time, so while you’re focusing on something you’re getting progression on other things. Focus on the easiest first, when you get into the hard ones, some will be already half way lol

3 – All professions have problems at the first time that you travel HoT maps. No masteries + don’t know what the new hostile NPCs do = you will die (way less than before QoL patch, but will die) . But with some masteries unlocked (gliding, bouncing mushrooms, updraft principally), plus leaning the NPCs patterns it will be fine not only for your main, but for any alt that you bring to the jungle. You said that you learn fast, so the NPCs will not be a problem lol

4 – If you played any other MMO with raids and did raiding, you know that pug life isn’t easy, the “elitism” exists and have reasons to exist. The same as always: get the right build, gear up, improve your rotation, check raid videos with your profession and build PoV.

5 – Like people already said, on open world anything works. Simple bring some CCs and remember that too much toughness = aggro and you will be fine. On raids simple check the best builds for your profession.

@SkyShroud Yes, and that means that ecto prices will drastically drop, which will affect those who don’t do AB. If it won’t then people who don’t do AB multiloot, because they -very logically- find opening chests for 15min boring will get behind in gold compared to those who do AB multi-loot, and this affects others too since their gold value will decrease compared to those who make 40gold in this 20 MINUITES! Which is 120gold an hour if you only log in 3x a day to loot AB…. And that is INSANE. (yes, many ppl told me on map chat they get this amount -40gold – by one meta event… JOKE.

Say for these people donate a lil’ of their luck, because you normally don’t get even near of this amount of gold per Octovine phase.

Ectos don’t have 100% drop per salvage, sometimes you lose coin salvaging if you’re unlucky, even multimap looting you need to be really blessed to get more than 20 ectos.

You will get lots of things without TP value like milling stones, masterwork runes and sigils, untradable ascended mats, auric slivers… Crafting mats you get lots of T5 common mats that only leather and wood have any real value – if you’re luck you get like 5 orichalcum/ancient wood… Gemstones have drop too random, can get 10, can get 0, and all of then have around 30s EA price, including Black Diamonds that was 1g+ before QoL patch. If you get any Exotic gear most of time are ones that have almost same price as a rare item – usually you get 1 exotic per day.

And the most important: to do this farm you will need do the events at the map during the pilons phase. You will not get enough currency by the chests alone, even with the keys earned by the daily chest. 30 keys per map to open everything.

Silverwates will give more money per hour if someone really wants to farm there (and can get ascended gear), but most people don’t want to stay there anymore and they really want to play with that poor lv48-54 alt.

Yes because Anet have never unintentionally introduced farms into the game and then nerfed them. No, never.

And Anet certainly didn’t make the noxious pods in Dragon Stand unable to be looted by multiple characters across multiple maps, nope.

Noxious Pods have nothing with the map lockout, it exists only because the vendor that opens after the MoM successful fight. You lose time and coin farming pods at DS, is only worth because the collections.

If they remove the lockout, most people will simple teleport/taxi into a successful map instead doing and helping in a 1 hour or more chain event to unlock it.

AB was like that before the QoL, the amount of organization for do a successful map made most people avoid it like plague to a point that you depended on big guilds to do one, like TT. So we had a single good map and several fail maps – right now only Chak Gerent is like that since most people hate TD as a whole.

Now, after the QoL changes + people discovering how good is AB for farm no matter if you’re on a multiloot squad or not, we have several successful maps, last time that I did with a squad we had 6 successful maps (normally you loot 3 maps, barely finishing the 3rd one if you farmed enough keys/currency to buy it and have enough bag space/copper feed salvage machine), something that would be impossible before.

The main culprit is that we have way more people playing since the QoL patch at April 19. The gems prices started to go back up since then.

Of course being more easy to make gold right now help too, daily completion gives 2 gold + no DR on HoT maps. AB always was lucrative like it is now, the diference is that we have way more successful maps since the QoL changes.

Aside that depends on what offers we have on the gem store. The prices got really up on last days because the Phalanx Armor – many people wanted it (including myself), with the “4 days only”, most of then farmed like crazy…

…or dumped unused karma at a certain glove vendor lol

Well, being honest the prices will not go back to what they was before April 19. To be that cheap will need happen a true disaster at the game to make most the people who got back/start to playing, well, stop playing the game.

I know that is too late but you can change maps (pve ones), chars and even create a new one during these 2 hours, they changed this some builds ago. You can’t go to a guild hall and I don’t know about if you can do pvp during this time.

This update completely uninstalled my game and is forcing me to reinstall, anyone else have this issue?

uninstalled the game? didnt happen to me, but i get this error whenever i try to update my client: Unable to verify the Guild Wars 2 executable. Please try again. If the problem presists, uninstall and reinstall the application, or contact customer support.

not sure if its only me, or many people have the same issue right now

Here this message appears because my antivirus insists to block the game every build since QoL one.

since the spring patch (with DS as selectable option in LFG tool) i don’t get into an active instance anymore. i only see squads (x/10 or higher) advertise in LFG and when i join i end up in another instance of DS than the majority of the squad.
even 1 minute after restart i couldn’t get into a playable (populated enough) instance through LFG tool yet (tried it 5 or 6 times and gave up on it afterwards).

i am on the EU servers and before the patch i usually had no problem to get into a populated instance of DS from LFG group invites (x/5).

You need to get earlier, like 5-10 minutes before the reset (have people that camps for 30 minutes on DS to make sure to get into a good map lol). DS fills up really fast, usually a map is full before the reset here on NA servers.

Megaservers since HoT launch have been broken in HoT maps, anet doesn’t seem to have any desire to fix it. Gotta use the LFG to get into maps with players.

While I agree that the megaserver on HoT maps tends to troll people principally when give the option to change maps if it is too low populated, sometimes is a issue caused by the players: is common on VB and TD you get ported into a map with zero progress that have lots of people AFK/doing anything else, like HPs.

Currently I’m using the 32 bit client because I usually update the game at my work since I have limited internet at home – the problem is that at my work we only have 32 bit computers and I know already that the 64 bit don’t work here and that I can’t revert back to 32 bit without reinstalling the entire game… (had to do that when I tested the 64 bit months ago)

Have a way for me to have both clients, like a 32 bit on a external HD and the 64 bit at home, and transfer/copy&paste the data between then?

If not, have a way to avoid the upgrade? Or any chance on the future for us change the client between the versions without a entire reinstall?

HoT Jungle frustrations...

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Banchou.5628

Banchou.5628

We see these things alot but I read these threads, notice the guy having HoT Solo problems is playing necro and I can’t help but think they simply don’t understand how the game or their class works.

How can a person NOT solo with a necro if they are using minions and ANY ranged weapon? I solo champs with my build and they can’t even get through VB. It’s very hard to accept that even as easy as Core GW2 is, it does not train people to even THIS level to know what tools they have to solo in HoT. You almost have to know nothing about your class to know how to fail getting through VB, necro especially.

I think the problem is a mix from no need to know 10% of the profession to survive on Core Tyria + Copy/Paste PvE builds from the internet.

Core Tyria you can tank anything that isn’t a world boss and some mordrem npcs with berserker gear to a point that many people don’t even care if they have any other utility skill aside the dodges and a heal.

And most PvE builds are focused on Fractals, Dungeons or Raids – aside the later, these are builds very focused on damage with almost no CC and/or utility skills, things that you will need to travel around the jungle safely: for example, is common people play minion master necro/reaper but many don’t use the pets CCs. I’m not saying that people can’t use a standard damage build, but I don’t recomend use one on the first char with almost no masteries.

@On Topic
Dear OP, the jungle is harsh with everyone on the start, but with time they turn into simple maps that you only need to play a lil’ more carefuly.

I suggest you take your time and level some masteries, principally bouncing mushrooms, updraft and lean techniques, they will make move around the maps way more safe + you can do all solo HP. Jaka Itzel outpost at VB on daytime is a good place to farm exp, same for Auric Basic: it is friendly map as a whole since isn’t vertical like VB and TD. Avoid Tangle Depths.

Avoid use a full set of soldier gear, too high toughness = aggro, and you don’t want to be chased to the death by half of the jungle… You can use one or another equipament with toughness if you feel too squish, but not the entire set.

Don’t pull more npcs than you can handle and always bring a ranged weapon. Try to learn the npc patterns, most of then aren’t annoying with cripple/root spam like the ones on Dry Top/Silverwastes. If you don’t really want to farm Dark Harvest, avoid Smokescales like a plage and have extreme caution with Shadowleapers, Bladedancers and Mordrem Stalkers. (avoid stay at melee range on the last 2 ones)

Modify your build for more survival and bring some CCs – and since you’re playing with Chrono, bring stealths too. If necessary use your clones/ghosts to make a decoy while you run away from something. CCs are anything that can disable a npc for a lil’ time like stuns, daze, blind, knockbacks, slow, cripple, etc.

Don’t be shy and use LFG to taxi for more populated maps if you find things too slow on your current one – you don’t need to stay full time at the party/squad if you don’t want.

Megaserver issues with HoT not addressed?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Banchou.5628

Since April 19 patch I’m having problems to get good a Tangle Depths map. No matter if you get in it way earlier before the Chak Gerent event, like 30 minutes before, I get into a desert map and when I try to taxi in a better is always only one good map, all time full.

I think if TD had a longer preparation time like the other HoT maps, at last we could have enough time for organize and have at last 2 maps with chance to succeed at the Meta Event… 5 minutes is too small for something that need at last 15 players per lane.

And would be great if the devs fix the crash during the MoM fight, principally the one that can occur right before the cinematic, since it locks you out of the map no matter the participation – because of that I pratically need to “leech” on a random island instead helping at all mechanics, principally the burns phases and I hate be a “dead weight” just in the most fun part… Lost 3 MoM because this crash bug and I prefer to not risk it anymore.

Anyone who said this hasn’t changed too much, simply isn’t paying attention.

It’s true. I am a casual player. Casual of the casuals as a matter of fact. I lost interest quickly in HoT because I died so many times. Now, I can manage in HoT with my guardian and easily finished Verdant Brinks map. Achievements and all. Even unlocking the masteries is a lot easier now (from 22 to 33 within a day with casual, not HC play), so I don’t know what is the problem with the difficulty level of the HoT content.
I think it’s good now. A bit harder than the “Prophecies” and a lot easier than the old HoT

In terms of dificult barely changed, the damage is pretty much the same aside the mushrooms, the hostile npcs continues with the same attack patterns.

The whole diference is that now you can unlock faster the HoT masteries and is worth stay playing on HoT maps reward wise…

Aside having new unlocked masteries that really make travel around the jungle easier, you simple adapted to the HoT gameplay style lol

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Banchou.5628

I’m not afraid, but I don’t do raiding because isn’t my focus here on GW2. I already raid with my friends on WoW at weekends, so I prefer to play here more open world content like the events, world bosses, crafting and gold farming, something that currently I don’t have on “Garrisoncraft”…

But this “fear” is real, I know many people that avoid raids like plague no matter the game, most of then because q really bad raiding experience at WoW like being unlucky when they found a raiding guild or even a trial testing on high end guilds. They instead to try to enjoy the game at their pace and/or find a friendly raiding guild, they jump with parachute into just the high ends ones (if they are really unlucky, the really elitist ones lol), and this never ends well…

Navigating will also get a lot easier once you progress.

That is just the problem, if you don’t have the right masteries unlocked you’re forced to do the “Hardcore Course” of the map. If you don’t play a profession that can cheese the content (Thief, Mesmer and now Ranger since the pets don’t get oneshot by the npcs anymore on PvE), you will get a really hard time to travel from point A to B to do a event to train a mastery, for example – and need to be lucky to the event still be up when you finally get to it lol

If the maps had more waypoints or even less “trash” (on some places the amount of elites and vets packed together is ridiculous), would be more easy to deal the “metroidvania” playstyle if you fail at something. But the way the things are at now people get so fed up that even if they get enough masteries to do the “Really Easy Course”, they are already with the infamous burnout from that content and don’t even want to hear the new maps names.

Said that, the new maps order seens to be “wrong” too since Auric Basin is way more friendly than Verdant Brink…

TL;DR the problem isn’t the “Hardcore content, hardcore content everywhere!” feeling, the real problem is the casual content being gated by the hardcore content…
