I don’ know why so many people are accepting of the fact that they haven’t and won’t give what was promised in the first expansion and claim it to be manpower related but have a team working on a second expansion pack.
The only thing I can think is that they are only getting funding based off future sales of the second expac and if it was not coming none of those 70 people would be there at all. Otherwise it’s absolutely appalling that they are not working on the current content.
I would rather than have 70 people work on content that is at least a year away at least 55 or so of them were took off to fix everything that needs fixed in game. I made my Astralaria months ago – it’s a shame others can’t do the same for their chosen professions weapon – it’s actually a shame they couldn’t do it along side me. I mean you are working on a new expac when we can’t even get an lfg fix in the multiple patches we get all the time.
The fact that it’s rumoured to be getting fixed makes me just lump all you guys justifying it in with people who claimed mossman tree was not an exploit before it was confirmed – people with crap attitudes who make up whatever they like to justify it.
If all lanes were properly manned and being played, you wouldnt be able to go south and kil the frog/breacher. If people weren’t being taught to leech they would actually be learning event mechanics. For everyone player who contributes when jumping octovines there are maybe 15 who do not, and half of them have never even had the chance to experience the event. I know this as fact as I have seen commanders teach the lane hopping to brand new players.
And how am I jealous? I have luminate backpack, I have all my ex machina stuff, I have astralaria and I have golden child and my viper gear. I literally do not need this event other than for fun or to help other people. That doesn’t make it fair that its the worst players there get the most reward.

I am referring to the large number of people who taxi in and zerg around so that they get 100% participation and maximum meta rewards including 4 octo chests for minimum effort. If everyone did this the meta event would fail.
Will this ever be fixed? At the minute it feels like its intentional that leechers come and get more rewards than the commanders who stay tagged at the lane actually pushing the meta event to be completed. I don’t understand why this is not lane debuffed like VW to prevent multiple lane leeching.

ahh Ok Vayne – that is probably a bad combination of factors yes – I actually had heard NA had it bad as I was caught on stream before and was contacted in game by an NA player who didn’t realise I was EU

We killed it 4+ times a day on pug organised maps everyday EU for 3 months – I am sorry we didn’t meet but I literally mean we were getting hundreds/thousands it. Me being the only mainstay commander until I got a perfect Nuhoch commander.
Your experience was bad but that doesn’t mean it was everyones experience. Realistically we can’t judge how many people could do it versus couldn’t – but I just know that any single person that gave me a couple of hours of their time pre patch got a kill, and that is not ego – I was not doing anything anyone else with a commander tag and typing ability could not do themselves. The only time it was not worth trying was the weekend before midnight12:30 GMT spawn, and 6:30 GMT weekdays.
THat doesn’t mean they have to break it though – the scaling is obviously horribly broken – The event requires no participation at all now – you no longer need to ensure the meta is done to help a lane, just get Nuhoch mushrooms and it’s fine. This cannot be the devs intention. And no I disagree, people can and were doing this steadily. Complaints are more vocal than people getting it. The people complaining before are mostly still failing now. Even though I thought that was all but impossible. If you check the threads about the TD meta actually, about 75% of posts were on single person. That’s off topic though – the event fix was just a spur that highlighted many of the negative aspects of the current design approach. I wanted to know I am not in the minority, and a lot of the people that agree with me in game are 25k AP + – Arenanets loyal customers. Thanks for the reply.

For people that say that is what your guild is for – like I Said we were building the guild from the people we were encountering but you need a good community environment to encounter people worth having in my opinion. I am not going to just map shout my guild full to have people to play areas.
First off – I apologise this is long and there is a TL:DR at the end. And apologies in advance if I seem like a whiner.
I have held off posting this for a some time now – It will get crapped on by the people that already caused it to be ruined but I cared so much about it I can’t really not say anything. Some people should know me as Berserk Steve EU pug map commander. I have 800+ followers or something stupid so I am sure some check forum.
It’s been said before that the change to dungeons did not just affect the money coming from them. Regardless of your thoughts on the matter a large section of the community building aspect of the game was lost when they redirected our attention elsewhere. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this. When I look at my guild and my friends list, 90% of them came from pugging dungeons and meeting awesome people. I seriously missed this. Then I discovered Tangled Depths. Heart of Thorns was promised as a harder experience with dense complex maps. Over the initial period of time people learned to stomp these events the same as Tyria. All but the Chak Gerant and the actual TD map which people found so confusing. So for many months now I have tagged up there and an awesome community formed. No guild needed, just be on my follower list and taxi in. Yeah we lost sometimes but it was a good way for many people to learn the map and get a kill on a hard fun world boss. Events should have a chance of failure. Especially if the content was designed to be harder.
So we were in the process of building an awesome community, teaching people event and map mechanics, making friends who then helped other less experienced with Raids and other things. I brought them to the other maps and showed them how well they could be done by bringing the attitude we bring to TD (as its a harder map people brought a better attitude to learning and working together – I.e farming 400 airship parts in 1 round of VB). We done Hivemaster really early and it was an actual accomplishment. Helping people get the legendary materials and getting mails and whispers when they finally did was awesome. I held off my own legendary for over a month to help other people with theirs. We even began pushing our burns to second phase, on pug organised lfg no TS maps. Then the fix came. It’s astounding how much 1 change can completely eradicate everything. People now know they don’t need to bother. Maps now close as people can just hop it and kill, it is literally becoming SW 2.0.
So I want to ask Arenanet do they actually pay attention when they make these kind of changes – the map was already very badly designed in terms of community – Hero points that you can activate on Boss spawn (then reactivate almost as soon as completed for ultimate trolling, especially on other HPs when people just want to WP away and not scale it up for the next person along)? Caches right beside DPS locations, interact able NPCS standing on objects you must lift to complete the hardest boss event in the game etc etc etc. These are the things that when it was a challenge people ignored for 30 minutes but now can actively not care and troll with.
They designed all of these maps to be very commander friendly – I would say the people like me with tags got the absolute most value for money. However it seems like yet again they don’t even know what they have created. I know Gerants main problems was some muppet put mistward helm lining behind it – PLEASE never do this in challenging content again or the QQ will come until it is nerfed. Everyone farming sparks and legendary collection items were fine with learning and trying – as were about 50% of the people there for mistward. Do they actually care about community forming in their MMO? They already almost destroyed my small guild that me and my ex spent lots of gold on, and then now it’s only alive as for a small time TD was amazing and I got new amazing people to join. The new changes removed things we had which we are now only getting back after members have spent thousands of gold (banners, bounties etc). The core community aspect of the game was gutted and so broken for a while we couldn’t even earn favour to get our guild hall. It feels like you want an army of zerg bots pressing 1 and spending gold in the gem store and I really didn’t think that you weren’t that kind of company – especially being a year 1 GW1 player. The irony of my saying that is I lead a zerg in TD but if you just press 1 you will die on lobber or whatever, it’s another reason the map was GOOD.
Regardless I don’t know that there is a point in this – I guess I want to see if anyone else feels the same. I know people now just want the egg sak from it – advice in 120+ kills for me it has never been pinged in map chat. But I want a game I can play and teach and enjoy on a map without trolls and whiners coming and ruining it. Even now it would be fine it we could control our instance. Why should people on my block list be able to taxi on me? Why can they even join my party in the first place or my squad. Why do you not want your community playing with the people that they want to play with? I know people will also just whine and say but it was too hard/needed nerfed/good for you/stop qq etc but IMO they had a chance to fix the dungeon issue by letting us have 1 hard map – I know many of my old dungeon friends came to TD as it was a challenge, composition still meant something (in open world no less). You removed their community and they found a new place and then you took it away again is how it feels, however intentional.
Maybe I am selfish – I have farmed over 2k ley sparks helping other people – I don’t do it for loot, the best drop I ever got from gerant was a freshwater pearl. It’s probably the worst world boss chest in game. It’s the only map that doesn’t have a container (cache) that can give better output than other containers even though the few behind wall are perfect candidates to be large Caches. Yes when baubles are on it can be good money but now that no one listens we can’t optimise anyway. I can’t even taxi while in squad so it’s only as I have 1 awesome person <3 that I have even been able to get the map off the ground this week – it is steadily getting worse as it becomes an afk for gerant map to try for egg sak. People try SO little now that its actually still failing even though you can kill it in 1 burn with map organise and no TS (although you can’t as people want achievements – another anti community aspect of the change – fix this to be a lane buff please).
Like I said I don’t know the purpose of this post – I can’t believe that someone who designed TD or the Chak Gerant can go to the map now – watch how it is ran and completed and be actually happy with how it went. I feel like my own special place was destroyed so I can’t imagine how they feel. Kinda funny too that also is this is what people expected for ALL HoT maps when biomes and complex maps were announced. You are all so, so lucky that it was a misunderstanding :D
TL:DR I feel like almost every change made to the game since the expansions release has been anti community – maybe I have just been hit harder than it by most. I would like to know if anyone in the community feels the same and also if arenanet ever plans to actually tackle some of the prominent issues such as allowing us to actually play with who we want. Seriously what’s the point of the blocklist atm other than to stalk people you don’t want knowing you are online. If it can’t prevent people from playing with you and ruining your stuff…
It’s likely to do with the fact it locks it out (new instance?) and that is what is destroyed. Still annoying.

ON subject – I would rather the map just didn’t close. the wipe and reset seems unnecessary.
But you claim that you don’t like it yet when given the option to run it a different way you change the qq to timers instead of zerg. DS takes 30ish minutes to push to the towers, the map cycles 2 hours long. So basically you can do it anytime you want, but you don’t want to. That’s fine but don’t expect people to not think you have a horrible attitude
Edit: Thinking about it – it’s also odd that you dislike the content yet want the achievements etc. Just don’t do the stuff you don’t like, similar to how my EotM achievement page is completely empty…. ohwell you can’t please all I guess.
It’s kinda sad you don’t wanna join the squad, aka you don’t want to participate, so you can’t see the chat or explanations or actually help in a meaningful way. It’s also sad you can’t adapt your gameplay to have more fun. I lead LARGE zergs and can find it enjoyable but for example a few nights ago 5 of us took our raid builds and 5 manned VB night bosses. It was some of the best fun I have had in ages. The events scale extremely well to low numbers on all maps. Don’t like DS with a zerg? jump the map 25 mins late and do a lane with 15 people, it’s still very doable, often faster, and fun.
Well I think people are missing the point – It’s a lot of wasted content. The 15 minutes forces people to rush, ignore others and generally ignore the content which I am sure was put there to be experienced. At the minute when I lead I focus my time on pods as it’s what the majority want however there are multiple champions which should be an evolution of the ones from previous maps , possibly their hardest incarnation which would be good to fight however who wants to waste that time? Things like the mushroom emperor would be regularly killed if people weren’t racing against the clock (ironically spending most of the time on the floor) and it would remove a lot of the negativity from people who have a hard time. Remember its the last story map too, all will want to experience it.
There are pets to be found, dialogs on some npcs and just stuff to look at. I really don’t understand why the map has to A) close instead of just wiping people at 2 hours and refreshing the map (keeping people together for multiple runs with participation) and B) not lasting the 2 full hours regardless of completion time. There is something disheartening about having to wait around to start again if you are optimised and have a good run. It’s like being punished for wanting to play the content repeatedly as is encouraged yet actually doing it well.
Another point to add is that the map is incomplete – it seems we are almost certain to see another 2 areas added if the explorer panel is correct – you may feel you have enough time now but what about then?

It would be pretty great if you could do the same thing you do in crafting station discovery panels (Show all accepted materials including bank storage for drag and drop) at the panel for donating to guild hall instead of having to have it in your inventory. Seems like it should be possible as they already do it and I am pretty sure some people would be more willing to embrace it then when they realised they had some useless unused stuff in storage that could help the guild. Thanks.
Line of sighting then cleaving all the mobs in one go is smart play, and in fact if you don’t want to skip mobs I would suggest you make peace with it – mostly 5 man groups have dead weight but even 2-3 well geared good players can melt all those mobs much faster than letting the new guys skip and die repeatedly. In the same way they melt the boss in seconds, they can line of sight a crowd and melt in seconds – it’s just mainly a waste of time.
Simeonus – I think they don’t count as they are like any infinitely generating trash mob – no xp/loot? Like event chains that have endless enemies? May be wrong. Do they count as ambient?
I didn’t know anything when I started tagging them yeah you get 1-2 trolls saying south weak comm or whatever but that’s how you learn. Read, do , play learn. Did it with all of them, can now lead all metas and get enough people from follow list to do them well. few weeks work, people don’t want to bother.
No – having a lack of faith in the person communicating the failure. I know its buggy and bad but it’s also doable.
Dunno finished it in it’s bug riddled form first week, I know it sucks and they really should fix it but it’s very completable. Mostly people have issues with the bugs for Extreme. So I think its a combination of you not being very good/dying to cause the bugs then and bugs :P Maybe I am just sad as you complained so much about TD then still have a hard time doing it :P Have no faith in the player skill when reading your other posts to make it think it is solely bugs preventing this sorry mate.

Thread is too long of people with nonsensical idea. Every single day I have full maps – hell if I tag up 20+ followers have squad joined on me in a short amount of time. Buy a tag, if you get an empty map – tag up and teach people how to play the area. This is why most of those maps are like that. Get to a DS where everyone is gathering try to taxi? Just tag up and orga that map. Don’t expect everything to be handed to you – it’s a computer system – things won’t always work right. Do I agree they need to tweak tune and fix thing? Yes. But currently almost every major problem in HoT areas that I see could be resolved with a better player/commander attitude.
Any of these situations being described are clearly over exaggerated. You only get those numbers with more players – complain about lazy players not the content. Example – pods, if everyone wasn’t a selfish bugger and just tagged as they ran, all would melt but they don’t, they will stand and retry to open 5 times rather than kill 1 rolling devil. When I do hero challenge runs for people, I ask all to autoattack when running, all the mobs die and no one is caught in a train and killed. This is a people problem, not a game problem. The devs may well be able to make changes to assist in making other players less impactful on your game but imo that will just dumb down the cooperative element (like the current gerant
)
Odd though – map closing timer is 1 hour, DS is 2 hours. OP said over 1 hour left on the timer. Some information is wrong or something is bugging.
Every day I lead HoT maps for people and by the end of the day realise yet again I have missed all my money making opportunities via daily crafting and missed my daily AP. Thanks anet for shafting me by staying in expansion !
It’s not that bad but there are days it feels that way.
I am one of the people who doesn’t really run into this issue, not a multiple map completionist. But at least one guild member always has serious problems with this and it is unfair. He has completed this countless times now. I know others wouldn’t have the patience and shouldn’t have to. 3 story completions for 3 order backpacks should be enough.
Anyone any idea of the costs of levelling scribing now? Is it still insane?

I would like now that the lane achieves are fixed that they really look at some of the horrible scaling in the event chains, particularly nuhoch. Almost daily I ask people to bug report something.
Actually a sad thing coming this weeks changes is that the maps quality of chat has went downhill considerably. It was the last bastion of no real bad map chat as only people who didn’t mind the difficulty/needed legendary mats stayed
well at least I got 1+ good month of meeting the awesome gw2 people.
achievements now confirmed working on all lanes just hold dmg and kill in 3rd.
We done a full burn ogre after patch and no achievememnt, however the next patch stated that ogre had still had an issue, so our 1 test lane was useless. so currently the aim should be to hold at 5 % and kill all in last burn to see if its still broken.
The chest is buggy and will only loot from the front and sometimes not at all and also despawns. No matter how many times I link after a kill and say to loot quick before it disappears someone always misses it
You really don’t Nilk, AB can be done with no nunlocked wps on a low tier map by 12-15 in lane now, I have orga’d it 5 mins in to challenge on map jump now. DS is a literal zerg, the only people who have even a slight job are the boss kill teams.
+ the chest is also even more buggy, and nuhoch event chain seems wors ethan before. gg
I really, really, really hoped they have borked the scaling and everyone is just getting gerants aimed at lower numbers of players now. Last night we saw 40 people rush a lane at 60 % in last burn and finish with over 1 minute left on the clock. That should not happen.
fun open world content taxi 5 mins before boss and rush it pressing 1? ok. I guess you guys are the one who stomp spores when no beetles are nearby
I pug orga this map and have over 30 kills and got hivemaster last week. This is sad that people just couldn’t learn to talk and read. I’m at least glad I see others with the same opinions now though. I hope they have messed up the scaling and the reason its easy now is we are actually getting lowest level gerants possible as it is trying to not raise the scale too much as people join and being too slow about it.
They don’t even need good gearsets. They literally need to avoid purple and attack. if all in lane does this, it will win, no matter the numbers, before patch. Now, if you are failing, you can literally zerg a lane. Silly.
ANd for all you people complaining, as 1 comm, no guild, no ts, I have been running and organizing and built up a nice community in the last few weeks – maybe you should complain about the bad lazy comms open world and not engaging content. Half of them tag and do nothing.
There is a reason I have gained over 300 people in follow list in last few weeks running TD. It’s not hard, just no one explains it, when people explained, people started enjoying. You don’t need ts, you don’t need zerk, you just didn’t need to afk play the boss. Now it is literally a by the numbers affair. This is bad. I blame mistward armour :p
Its really horrible now , zerg fest walkover. I really enjoyed teaching people the map and the boss and getting people their kills in the last 3 weeks. Oh well. At least I have my 1000+ sparks and don’t need to go back now.

Lions Arch new map load times are literally 10x longer than any other map in game regardless of graphical settings. It’s really horrible. Everyone in game speaks about it but no one seems to complain. It’s the only map in the game where if I am standing beside a WP and use it, it will reload again! It’s really, really, really bad. Is there any reason for this? I worry that it is just lazy map making kitten many old assets are there but I hope not
