This is the build that I will be running in season 6. I know the changes where not to dramatic as some had hoped. But I am glad that the Ranked season started. It will give most of us something to strive for again. I wish you all the best luck and a little fun clip of what I was doing 6 hours before the patch dropped.

For the people that don’t want to watch this video and just want to read here it is
GW2 right now is in the dark on what is going to happen with the game. I hear a lot of negative things about the game on why it is going to “DIE!” I disagree with these things and made a video on what I think the game is currently doing. Those players that where NOT around during PRE-HoT this video is for you. Even if you where around during PRE-HoT I want you to know you are NOT alone on feeling as I do about WvW / ESL. The ESL scene was very rushed and I truly hate to see players that I enjoyed watching leave. Even with all the negatives I still think this game will be OK and as long as they focus on the things that made it the BEST MMO at one time. It can recover and take ANOTHER shot at the scene. They won’t add anything important besides that they published already. They won’t also change anything based on feedback. This is how it was with previous balance announcements before patch day so there is no reason to think they won’t do that again. I must say these changes are very rough for Power Revs. As soon as I read the patch notes I just poured me another glass…They KILL build diversity when they nerf things to the ground. I can see almost every Rev player switching over to Mallyx for the opening season. I put this video together in celebration of our loved POWER REV. You will be missed-2015-2016 Rest in Peace friend. I first want to say that I have had an enormous amounts of Ranger players attempting to play this build ask me how to defend against thieves. I got very lucky that I could play vs teams that always had at least 1 or 2 thieves on each team. So, for those who asked for this here you go!

Second I did not want to leave the rest of the community out so I put together some fun clips for the rest of the community to enjoy. I am aiming for some entertaining footage that is fun and refreshing. I hope you enjoy it.

Also, my standard models are on for PvP…These players I am fighting are NOT the same players but will ALL look alike because of that setting.

Like i dont know if you did the 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 tournaments in the past but it was kind of the same people winning all those and then they went to ESL, then Pro League.

They way you keep phrasing it and typing it makes it sound like you dont believe they are the best players in the game and that this “new” system will bring other players together and take down the Evil Empire of ESL top tier teams.

You know I’ve played many MMO’s throughout the years…And I’ve seen many good players come and go. GW2 is a very casual game with very small amount of competition. I feel that achieving greatness in it is very tough for newer players. For the vets that have been playing for a while it is quite simple since they already have those connection webs. In the end of the day the league is very small and the monopoly of the league makes it very tough for new blood to enter and survive. If you feel that the best are currently in it and cannot be challenged by new talent than the argument is mute. But if your willing to accept that 40 players are left in this league and talents are being recycled. Well, than you leave the room to question the people who maybe in those teams.

Overall those players are currently the best. The best at trying…If the league ever becomes bigger and they still come on top well good job to them…They showed the rest of the world.

Me personally, I don’t care who wins and who looses. I don’t play the game to gossip who the next top dog is…Or when Johnny the “best warrior in the world” is going to eat for breakfast. I play this game for my personal goals and fun.

I just want GW2 too either accept defeat on ESL or make changes that will make the average player want to also go out of their way to compete in a league even though they may not be up to par on their skill….Everybody should place in their own division and strive for more success…NOT get to the end and stop playing because of que times.

1- The games system is great. The style of play and the way you play the game is the best of the best. The reason we complain is because its not balanced at all. I did T4 fractals yesterday and we had a druid who could out heal old toms room. We didnt activate the fan once and straight killed him. Balancing a game around raids kills every aspect of the game. Sure raids are alot of fun and rewarding when your in a group that does it. But what about those who are not raiding and enjoy the other aspects of the game and see all the flaws in PvP, WvW, dungeons, fractals and PvE?

2- Do you honestly believe that the ESL players are not as good as advertised? I can not tell you how many people say this and then get wrecked. There was literally a forum post by someone (i remember who if you want me to say it) who was constantly bashing Five Gauge. They 1 vs 1 and Five Gauge took a screen shot of the player talking smack in down state and with him still with over 80% health and a heal skill available. We had a solo que and you can look up who had a number 1# ranking. Guess what your gonna see noscoc, tarcis, toker, OE, your gonna see all the same people in these tournaments.

3- Lastly what does making solo-duo que do? If match making is bad how is it fixed? Lets stop pretending that all premades are the same. Season 1 MM had me face team PZ 4 out 5 matches. Guess what the team i was on scored 100 pts each time, against other premades i had won. I have a screen print of my Guild Team winning a 3 vs 5. Is that us being OP or MM screwing the other team or us? You cant hide a problem by throwing a blanket over it. At someone point someone is gonna realize that the problem is still here and that is just has a blanket.

Dont praise Anet PvP until they actually deliver. We dont know when the next PvP season, maybe they post pone it for a long time. No one knows, lets say they dont balance anything and let build diversity to remain the same. Will you be like guys we are heading in a good direction?

For a grueling wait time of 4 months, there is barely any trait changes/ reworks involved. A lot of em are just Tooltip fixes. All classes have unused traits and what not just because they suck. Improving on the quality of patches enables more build diversity.

Can you imagine it took 4 years to save pet names?

If we had more quality patches, I am pretty sure there will be less complaint for balance and fewer complaints that we have 0 build diversity.

Your right they move very slow…But it is free to play so at this point we just sit back and have to wait on the stuff they put out…I am holding my breath for a good patch though

I’ve been running a similar build for a long long time as well. My preference for PvP is to take Predator’s onslaught due to the fact that Ancient Seeds triggers the immobilise more often than not. To me, that increase in % of damage beats Lead The Wind. However. Lead the Wind is indispensable in WvW.

Personally, I have high difficulty in dealing with anything that has a high stability upkeep time. Warriors, Boon Rangers are two of those that I can’t exactly deal with. This is probably due to the fact that I can’t get my CCs to properly trigger. In addition, the warrior is excellent at closing gaps. Even by utilising my stealths (LB3, Smoke Scale Leap/Blast) I still find it difficult to deal with warriors. What’s your take on this?

Yea the whole build needs you to constantly out-kite and reset people.

So this is the Longbow Ranger build that I have played since season 1 in PvP/WvW. I have had lots of fun/success playing it and constantly have people ask me questions about it. I tried to put a guide together that tackled those questions/concerns about this particular build. Also some people have a hard time understanding all of the CC this build offers so I put it all together to help out the new Rangers coming into the game! Enjoy and I hope this helps you guys out!

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this.
I played 4 games using the build displayed in the video. 1 Win. 3 Losses.

In the only win I had 19 kills and a little over 600k damage. Sure that sounds good, and our team completely snowballed the enemy team.

The other three losses basically went the exact same. The enemy team had loads of projectile denial and the build has literally zero survivability and little damage. For example, if you hit an enemy with retaliation with a full rapid fire, you lost half your health. Thief’s backstab dealt 15k damage, thief’s vault did 10k damage. If a dragonhunter caught you (or even clipped you), you died. The build lacks the ability to flee, there’s no swiftness, the only movement skill is swoop on gs and the one stealth skill the build has access to. Another downfall is that it provides 0 teamsupport besides the fact if you actually killed someone.

So, yea, the one win that I had that we absolutely snuffed the enemy team was fun. There’s no doubting that 19 kills and 600k damage is fun. But every game where you’re instantly downed, spend half the game respawning, and that leads to your teammates blaming the ranger; isn’t fun. I guess I’m willing to play it for fun every once in awhile, but I doubt I’ll ever use it on a regular basis. I feel that the video had been recorded several times until OP had a game where he had a good team, bad enemies, and in general lucky.

GW2 allows you to switch classes when you see reflect bots on the other side waiting for you…This is why i Main REV/Ranger so i can deal with those engi reflect bots.

Overall Staff is OP compared to this build…BUT unless your going LAN and trying to set up a “real” team..>WHAT is the point of playing meta all day…Win or Loose you never really get rewarded for anything…Pride is just in your head…Sometimes pride is just having fun…

Staff is broken/face-roll and i will boycott it in PvP until they fix it.

So this is my usual non-meta LB/G build I’ve played in 4 season now. I wanted to take it out into the Eternal Coliseum to check out the sniping areas on the map. With LongBow and Zerker amulet this map really brings the life into the sniper Ranger that is usually standard in almost all MMO’s. Most mmos have a drastically simpler setup for builds. Each class uses one weapon type, there are less bits and pieces to the full gear set, etc. GW2 has its own unique challenges for implementing this; they can’t just copy-paste code from WoW.

Only thing that is complex about GW2 is the combat system. That has nothing to do with the actual traits and how you can save them or edit them. You want to bring up WoW thats fine…But please understand that WoW did have saved builds back in 2008 even when the talent system was 3x more complex then our current one…

Also MMO’s have test servers to help with bugs and/or feedback from the rest of the community. If they where gonna introduce anything like this why not have an open test server that shows this in development…Adding stuff half kitten just makes the rest of the community loose faith in their game. I mean im sure the ESL players are used to testing and getting stuff leaked before the rest of the community gets them. But that doesnt mean it is the right way of doing this.

What this release is is them saying ‘look at the progress we’ve made towards build templates! We’ve made a quick and rough implementation of something so that you all can see what sort of tech we’re working with, and hopefully give us feedback on how you like the functionality.’

Would you prefer they held off default builds until build templates were completed?

How about they come out with build templates instead of default builds.

Its almost a joke, hey try our new default build, Anet will just have to recorde it to the next meta build after each broken patch update.

I have to agree with the video. You seem to be writing about the next step, well the next step for PvP many hoped for more build diversity and it isnt here.

If anet wants to dumb the game down sure fine its there game but it wont stop them from getting wrecked in unranked/ranked.

How about anet make build templates instead of dumb default builds, fix MM, make PvP seasons fun, create a better meta and some decent build diversity. I dont know maybe 2 quality builds for each class. I know its crazy but these are things that should be done and yes they should wait till its a finished product. I dont sell you half cooked food and you dont eat it.

Also im gonna post a pic, its a troll build and 3 of the 5 players im playing against were running meta builds. Please tell me how default builds implemented help anyone?

Custom builds should have been here 3 years ago…But yea like i said before this was a waste of resources..>IF you are going to implement something so simple so late…Do it right the first time…It doesn’t need baby steps…Its pretty standard in most main stream MMO’s…

Edit: two of the players were pugs, rest was our static group. The same ending happened with a sloth kill a month after that wing was released… By the same guy!

Nice! I had a good one like that at Sabetha the other day where I was the only healer and I was also running flak, but everyone kept eating tons of damage. I felt like a leaf on the wind with how I was jumping back-and-forth, saving everyone, keeping flak at range, and then somehow pulling off the kill even with everything falling apart at the end. #FeelsGoodMan

This one is going to be short and sweet. 11 years ago when I picked up GW1, I played the entire story-line on every character and just loved it. One of my favorite maps in the entire game was Ring of Fire. I was extremely disappointed when I saw Ring of Fire was NOT in GW2. But today while I was hanging around I heard the news and I HAD to share it with our community! PLEASE be as excited as I am and SPREAD the word!!!!

So a week ago I decided to start the Ranked Season on my alt account that was in Emerald. The reason being that I had already hit Legendary on my main account and the que times where 30-60min. So I instead of just doing unranked I decided to just play the season over again until people caught up. I am having a very good time this season because most of the people I fight are physical damage.

This match right here was one of those matches we have all been in. Where things start going south very fast and you need to do something or it is over! I really hope the people that decide to watch this watch it till the end. Also I needed to win this match to hit Legendary so winning was a MUST! Enoy

The thing is that if you keep saying that the nerfs were nothing then the devs won’t feel as bad in considering and applying even worse nerfs.

If they nerf REV to the ground than they will just make it harder to sell the expansion…Trust me they wouldnt do that to their sales. REV is perfect where it is just needs to be finished now!

For those who are familiar with our content know this female Rev doesn’t look like my usual Rev I play. But once I hit legendary this season, I started the season over on my ALT Amber account. Like I said in the off season REV is very strong and the nerfs that we got are very minor. It is very unfortunate that some people even quit the game because they felt the nerfs where too hard. As you watch this game-play you can clearly see me make some decent and common mistakes but when and if played right this class is a weapon. I am still really enjoying this season’s pvp. It is not perfect by any means but overall I really love the power builds. I hope to see more REVs return to the game as they realize the class is ok in its current state and still very fun to play. By any means did I say finished or perfect. Enjoy

DH is broken. Everything about the class is broken. DH has too many passive, childish defenses. They can stay alive for way too long and it’s not because these DH players are good (as if being “good” at Gw2 PvP is something to brag about) but because they have too many childish defenses. With all these defenses, you’d expect them to hit like a wet noodle yet they hit like a freaking truck. So not only can they stay alive but they can also deal insane amounts of damage? Hmm, was there ever a point in which Anet devs realized that this might just be a little too strong? I just don’t get what Anet devs think during these “balance” updates. My guess is they lack the resources to do anything worthwhile so they settle for less which is “let’s overbuff classes and over nerf the others.” But I mean who can blame them right? It’s no wonder why GW2 sales are horrendous lately.
