This would require anet to actually work on their engine and improve it. Something they have never shown any interest in doing. So no, it’s not gonna happen unfortunately.
Lol @ the idea of this game running on a console. This game’s engine runs like crap on pc, even pc’s far more powerful than consoles, so it should go without saying it’d fail miserably on console. And no, don’t think anet would bother fixing up the engine for console when they haven’t even bothered making it any better on the pc during this games 4.5 years since launch.
The performance of HoT was not as expected. We learnt the lesson. A second expansion is in work and will be released as soon as possible.
They’re learned their lesson eh? Does that mean they wont try charging $50 for a very content light xpack again?
Don’t waste your time requesting this. Anet has made it clear that they have absolutely no desire to bother properly supporting hardware released in the past 7 years(dx11 launched in 2009). Despite the fact that more and more of their competition does so AND that the vast majority of their userbase can use it. It’s a shame, but what can you do with devs who clearly don’t care about improving their engine?
Taking peoples money and then not delivering what was promised. Classy, anet. I await your next post in the coming weeks when you announce you’re continuing down this path and are also giving up on raids.
The problem (sensible) people had with paying $50 for HoT was the high price for the low amount of content.
It’s a rather boring looking outfit tbh. But i guess it’ll please the people who go into a seething rage every time they see any skin.
Bump. Why has this still not had an answer >.>
It doesn’t completely prevent players from accessing the gem store. As such there’s no reason for them to acknowledge and fix.
Because they have been making improvements already. The issues players are having will not be fixed by GW2 upgrading to a higher DX version.
In what ways? Performance wise, things are pretty much the same as they’ve always been. If there’s been any change in that regard, it would be slightly for the worse. And visually, the only notable change i can recall in about 3.5 years(or 4 years since i was in beta) is the addition of ambient occlusion. Which, while nice, is hardly anything to get excited over.
There are other ways to improve the game engine other than update DX.
But if they wont even consider supporting, say, dx11, which at this point is near 7 years old, what makes you think they’d even consider making improvements in other ways?
Well, according the the most recent AMA anet is just going to sit around and make no improvements to their engine whatsoever.
It’s incredibly disappointing that, in 2016, they still refuse to make any effort whatsoever to properly support modern hardware like most of their competition does.
We are not asking for DX12, since only few games have it and also GPUs older than 1 year won’t support it.
Incorrect. Any AMD GCN based GPU, that’s mid-7000 series and up and nvidia gpus back to like the 400 or 500 series can support the main benefits of directx 12, the lower level nature of it and the multi-core support it offers.
Windows 10 is a pos spyware. Stop asking for DX 12 , as that will be exclusive to Win 10. Im not upgrading to win 10 and a lot of people feel the same way. Its time to go with the multiple platform api. Vulcan.
A lot of people are idiots, yea. Have fun sticking to 7 and being left behind as more and more games come out. And lol @ thinking vulkan will take off. It’ll be about as common in games as opengl was. That is to say, not at all.
13 pages and people still think the api is the issue…
It’s an indisputable fact though, that directx 12, and to a lesser degree, 11, is faster than directx 9. To try to say it isn’t is just foolish. As is to try to say the games performance would not improve at all if they bothered to do it.
11 months and still no DX11 or even 10!!
You might as well give up hope on dx11/12 tbh. It’s pretty clear that anet has no intention whatsoever to ever make any improvements to their engine.
Do you suffer with this problem?
V-sync being turned off DOES “fix” it. If I turn it back on my game just won’t load and the textures are completely bugged.
V-sync is off and it doesn’t change anything. It also doesn’t happen to me on every map change.
Bump! No fix or acknowledgement by anet thus far. Lets get something done this year please now. Problem is now getting on to two months old.
Expect it to get even older than that. This is arenanet we’re talking about after all. Unless you’re new you should know not to expect much in communication or timely bug fixes from them.
(i also see this problem btw, and contrary to what some people say, vsync has nothing to do with it and it being off changes nothing)
Anet’s got their hands too full deciding what spell effects to nerf next. No time for listening/speaking to the players.
Pretty soon they’re going to just remove all effects completely. We’ll have nothing but text based descriptions of the action.
Meanwhile at anet…:
Dev guy: People pretty much universally hate the changes we’re making to spell effects
Boss guy: kitten ’em. Ignore the complaints like we always do and keep ruining things!
Even if a 50 slot bag would exist, why should that be exclusive to the suckers, er i mean, players, who bought HoT? You got tons of junk before HoT too.
When the wedding dress came out at 1k gems i recall saying something along the lines of: “if this is successful, we can expect all new outfits to be priced like this”. Looks like i was wrong though(in the bad way) and they took it one step further, cranking it up to 2k gems for an outfit now instead(and even adding a fake “discount” to trick you to thinking you’re saving money). And while i, too, would like to see the outfit separate, this is anet we’re talking about. They don’t put much effort into listening to their player base most of the time so this(and future outfits) will likely remain like this forever.
Oh boy, another update and anet shows they’re still ignoring the fact that NOBODY like this change. Listen to your players you kittens.
Lazy, lazy anet. Putting out an update today without listening to all the complaints and doing a simple and easy revert to the old animation.
So, does a 64bit version of injectsmaa exist? Or are you forced to suffer the poor implementation of the post-AA options they offer in game?
Maybe now that this issue is taken care of it’ll help teach you guys at arenanet to not just shove kitten out the door without testing it first.
Can’t get into any maps either. Seems they didn’t bother putting any of that xpack money into the QA budget.
Don’t. Wait for it to drop in price by at least 75%. That’s roughly how much it’s worth.
So unless you buy directly from anet and pay their blatant rip off price they’ll take away what you payed for without a second thought. LOL anet, way to make yourselves look worse.
50% 995mb downloaded so about 2 gb patch
Arenanet’s patching system is kind of dumb and doesn’t work like that. The percentage is based on files, not MB.

GW2 isn’t CoD, GTA, or some other similarly overrated/overhyped game hence why ign doesn’t care much.
I’d love to see anet bring a DX12 renderer. It could bring some sizable performance improvements, especially for AMD gpu users. But unfortunately anet has never really seemed to care much about making any improvement to their engine and how it runs.

Anyone not buying HoT and still playing ?

ITT: People who do not normally play MMOs. Most MMO Xpacks are mandatory for continuing to play the game AND they are full price (40/50$).
I guess there is a downside to GW2 pulling in players that are not normal to MMOs.
Most MMO xpacks also ship with a hell of a lot more content than this one does too.

It’s content light, and shipping feature incomplete. $50 is too much for that, period. No matter how you try to justify it.

I’ll be passing on it for a while. This “xpack” is far too expensive for what little it offers. Not only that, but, if i recall, not all the things it’s supposed to bring will even be available at launch. Making the price tag look EVEN WORSE.
Nope. They (rather stupidly) believe an xpack with a tiny amount of content compared to what their competition offers with xpacks is somehow worth the same price as the competition. And it’s unlikely they’ll pull their heads out of their own kitten to fix their error any time soon.
You’ve got almost two months to fix your joke of a price tag for this xpack anet. Don’t kitten it up.
If all the new Outfits are going to be 10 for 1, then I’m happy with that.
Reading… you obviously can’t do it very well.
I see this as kind of a test to see if they can get away with higher prices on outfits. If it proves successful, expect to see all future outfits cost this much regardless of if it has any “cultural tweaks” or not.
Well, The AO isn’t bad, but the new SMAA setting sucks. Just like FXAA it ignores everything within a window. So previewing gear, opening the hero panel, etc, all of it remains a jaggy mess. I don’t see why they can’t make it work on that as well since an SMAA injector has no problem covering everything properly.
Neat more graphics options that I can’t turn on because the client can’t handle it and will cause it to crash incessantly OOM when ever doing a task with lots of people around (world bosses, wvw, etc).
Sounds like your computer is a piece of crap tbh. I’ve done hundreds upon hundred of world bosses on high settings with no crashes to be seen.

Maybe $20 at most. Standard edition, the digital fluff isn’t worth extra and i can afford several character slots if i needed them with gold.

Not making it a core feature would split the player base and be a really dumb move to make. But then, Anet likes to make dumb moves so… they’ll probably be behind the xpack pay wall.

To clarify: $50 is the price of the expansion. We included the core game as a free bonus to make it easier for new players to get into it.
So basically, if you’re not a new player then kitten you?
The actual bright side is that it saves us money to use on more worthy things.
No way i’m going to even consider paying $50 for this.
If they need to do anything with movement speed, it’s to remove that incredibly stupid and pointless speed debuff when in combat. There is no logical reason why being in combat should reduce you to near walking speed.
If you’re going to make a thread to whine, at least learn spelling decently enough for your title.
This has to be a joke thread. Otherwise there’s something wrong with you if you’re actually “offended” by this.
It’s amusing to me that people see being downscaled as punishment, especially since at no time since the game’s start have level 80 players been downscaling to be made as weak as players who are playing at level in a zone. Higher level toons have always been more powerful even when downscaled, just not ridiculously so. What is the attraction of running around and one-shotting stuff anyway? Maybe ANet should make instanced versions of each zone with no downscaling so that people can go in there and feel powerful?
The bugged form of downscaling some people here are begging for IS a form of punishment. What they’re begging for is to basically negate all the time you spend leveling and gearing yourself by making you as weak as you would be if you had never bothered to level past the zone, gear up past blues, and spend any trait points. Why bother making progression if it’s all negated 100% if you leave the 80 maps?
And please try to read, cause i never mentioned wanting to one shot everything.
It’s amusing how some people apparently seem to think you should basically be punished for leveling up, gearing up, and unlocking traits by being made as weak as someone who’s done no leveling whatsoever, is in blues, and has no traits whenever you decide to leave a zone like cursed shore and go elsewhere.
While it’s nice they finally did something about that, it’s mind boggling how it took them so long to do it.
