Hello everyone. After a long hiatus from this game, I had the urge to come back and play again. I’ve been playing non stop for a week now and right now, I want to continue my level 30 Charr Warrior.

From what I understand, Warrior changed a lot while I was gone. I’ve been reading guides and builds for leveling for it but I’m getting mixed answers. People say Axe/?? and Longsword are the best atm. Others say Hammers are great, but they’ll get nerfed at next patch.

I’m just looking for the best build that would let me solo most of the stuff, especially on my server where I see very few people doing the group events. I also want to learn how to play on endgame while getting there so I won’t be struggling.

Also, which traits should I be focusing on? This is the one that I’m having the most problem on.

I was waiting for this. I needed 2-3 more character slots to complete all my alts. I’m only able to buy 2 slots for now since I am out of gold now. The 3rd slot doesn’t matter atm though, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make it. Just either an asura or charr necro. But other than that, I have all of the combination of race and classes I wanted.

The problem is, you’re actually looking for a chest. It’s not or doesn’t look like a chest. That might be the problem? Were you expecting for it to look like a chest? If not, then I don’t know.

what reward do you get for completing? I’ve been trying to find the answer. Can’t play now since it’s almost bed time for me and work early tomorrow morning.

I think it’s safe to say to “Never” do a one time event where there’s a chance you can instantly get rich. This is the main reason why this was a big deal. I don’t think it would have been a big deal if the reward wasn’t this big. If some people gets the chance to become instantly rich, others would want to get the same chance. This is an MMO after all. The playing field should be leveled equally.

How exactly were the names chosen? I mean the ones that you sent over? I’ve sent a ticket about this so I hope that counts. Thank you for responding to this.

This is what I have been doing so far. With my sword/focus + GS setup, I usually open with Illusionary leap followed by Phantasmal warden. Then I switch to GS and use Izerker. But if it’s only 1-2 enemy, I do blurred Frenzy before switching to GS. While doing Blurred Frenzy, it makes your character invincible to all attacks.

I go with those 3 illusions for awhile and when my illusion summon skills recast are done, I shatter them and summon again. I usually rinse and repeat like this. I do all of these while moving around. The only time I don’t move is when I use Blurred Frenzy or if my illusions got most or if not, all of the enemies’ attentions.

For multiple enemies, I like to distribute my clones/phantasms to keep them off me. I guess this is how I was able to survive. That way, if one of the enemies die, you don’t lose all of your illusions.

I have decoy and mirror images for utility skills and use them for emergencies when one or most of my illusions die right away or if I just want a quick mind wrack damage.

If you’re having trouble surviving atm, try staff instead of GS. Like everyone here are saying, chaos armor and chaos storm are really good defensive skills. If you are inside a chaos storm and use Phase Retreat, you get a free chaos armor. This helped me alot too.

I have just started leveling my mesmer. But let me tell you one thing for sure. The class itself gets easier as you level up. I had the same problem as you but I stuck it out. If you haven’t yet, try going to the human areas as much as you can since those are the most populated. The more populated a zone is, the better and easier you’ll level since you’ll have people do DEs with you most of the time. I started on the Charr area and I was having a hard time doing DEs since not many people there. So I took a break from there and went to the human area (forgot the name). There were people there so the leveling was much easier.

Stick it out until level 15 and make sure to get the trait that reduces all illusion summoning skills recast by 20%. This small trait changed mesmer difficulty by a lot. Then after that, go for the trait that gives you regen when your health goes below 75% as it helps you survive longer.

Also, from my own experience, my time got so much easier once I went sword/focus + Greatsword. Lots of AoE damage and a damage of your own means enemies die faster. I couldn’t believe how easy it became. I am able to take on multiple enemies (3-4+) with not so much of a problem. Don’t get me wrong though, I still die if I made a small mistake, but not as much as before.

Now, I’m level 24 and back to the charr areas. I just tanked a giant 98% of the time on one of the town Group Event DEs and never died! I was downed (due to the faulty dodge mechanic. I still got damaged even though I perfectly dodged out of the way before the stomp) but I got up through all of it.

That’s very disappointing. So others get 2nd chests and others who didn’t go at all got it while some never at all? That’s a big slap in the face.

Maybe then he could get the game cheaper or it will be on sale. Like the one Anet had with the Black Friday sale. :p

I’m hearing that the script finished giving out Karka Chests and I still have not gotten one.

I was wondering if they are still sending out Karka Chests. Anyone here know of anyone who have just gotten theirs 1-2 hours ago? It would help if the person in question played all day/night yesterday and wasn’t just logging in today after 1-2 days break from the game.

it seems like they just sent this out to random people. i did participate and so did alot of my friends, some recieved a new chest, but i didn’t get one, along with others.

Maybe they’re sending them out in waves? I have yet to get one too.

Also, I got 2 different answers in terms of the scepter’s 3rd attack clone. Does it or will it overwrite phantasms? Or will it generate clones as long as the 3 illusion limit isn’t reached?

I’m currently leveling a Mesmer. I used to go GS/Staff but I didn’t exactly see what was special about them.

So I switched to Sword/Pistol + /Focus and I began having an easier time surviving and killing things fast. The only thing that I see that’s a disadvantage is the loss of an instant illusion. With having only sword for a main hand, I would only have access to 3 instant illusions instead of 4. I’m thinking about adding Scepter but I’m not exactly sure if it’s good in terms of killing fast. Also, for drawn out fights, I like to use phantasms instead of clones for maximum damage. If I’m not mistaken, every third strike of the scepter’s normal attack produces a clone which could mess up my phantasms.

Was I missing something with the GS/Staff combo? Maybe combos in particular?

Also, the signet that increases Illusions’ Health, how much exactly does it increase them? Is it worth it? Or am I better off putting another phantasm on that utitlity slot? Right now, I have Decoy, 2 Clones, and that signet for my utility skills. Should I remove the signet for maybe Phantasmal Defender? Also, I’m at work atm so I can’t check but does Phantasmal Defender attack? or does it just stand there absorbing half the damage?

Finally, is phantasmal damage also based on your weapons’ DPS?

So this is the reason for the rise of gold conversion to Gem. Was hoping it would go down after the disappointment of Black Friday sales. Now it’s even higher than before T_T.

My only wish is for one time only events to disappear or at least not offer any more awesome loot.

I’m about to make a Charr Mesmer but I have to ask first how they are in farming groups. Tagging monsters before they die. Are they poor at that or is there a way?

I’m torn between a Charr Mesmer or Charr Ele but I find Mesmer more active and challenging as I saw another Player make mesmers look cool in my eyes in battle.

I’m not sure if it’s shift or alt but you can separate stacks first in your inventory. Then put it into the mail.

Jade Quarry in my experience has very helpful players. They are very active in PVP being on top or 2nd most of the time. It’s also one of the servers that have very high population.

Thanks a lot. That’s true about survivability. I learned to swap weapons on the go. There was a boss in a skill point challenge with a cleaver that kept stacking bleeding on me so I kept dying at half health. I just switched to Rifle the 3rd try and he didn’t damage me at all hehe.

Thanks a lot for the responses. Before I try anything with a MF exotic. I’m planning on doing dungeons with it atm. Just normal exp dungeons, not the Fractal Mist. Do people even ask everyone what they’re wearing? I usually just do Pugs as I don’t have any real schedule when I play this game. I just play it whenever I can and when that is, is always random.

Also, I read somewhere that some of the boss loots are based on each person’s MF stat. Are they even worth it? Are they unique?

Hello, I’ve just started a Warrior and he’s currently level 23. He’s been using signets mostly and a greatsword paired with a rifle.

I’ve noticed that he tends to die alot when enemies stack condition on him. I haven’t been paying attention on stats since there’s little option atm when it comes to craftable heavy armor.

I have not touched his trait yet so I’m looking for a build with better survivability. Or any suggestion on how I can make him tougher. Weapon advice is also very welcome.

In my exp, getting to level 25ish-30 is the longest. But once you reach level 30, you should have no problem doing DEs and quests to get you leveling fast. 2 areas in particular has events happening a lot with lots of people farming them for exp too. I remember zipping from 30-50 in just a week (about 3 hours of playtime each day and 5 hours on days off). 50-70 was even easier. 70-80 was super easy and only took me 1 hour…(I leveled armorsmith from 1-400 haha)

I currently have a 80 Guardian I’m trying to equip with Exotics. I only have my eyes on 3 exotics. The Craftable Draconic set, The Karma Set, and the Vigil Heavy armor set.

For the Karma Set and Vigil Heavy armor set, I know I have to farm lots for them since I need gold and karma for them.

I’m currently wearing a rare Explorer’s set that I crafted with pirate runes on them. But I was never a fan of the look of the barbaric set. And since the Draconic set is the only exotic set I could get/craft with MF on it, I plan on making that my MF farming gear.

I’m close to getting the Draconic set. I just need 7 more ectos. I figured that since I’ll be farming a lot to get the other 2 exotic set, it might not be bad to make the Draconic set my MF set. Is this a waste do you think? Also, I can’t think of any use for one of the other exotic set since I only plan on having 2 gear sets. 1 for farming and another for Dungeons.

Unless I can get away with wearing MF Draconic sets in dungeons?

This one time event for me was more of a disappointment than fun especially with the 3rd phase giving people awesome loot, while the ones who couldn’t attend or got dc at the last minute, got nothing. This is not what you should be doing. It only created lots of negativity.

I’d be more than happy if these 1 time events just disappear. A simple event that keeps reoccuring every few hours would have made this more successful and more fun. Less lag, less disappointment, and a lot more people would have been able to particitpate and this drama wouldn’t have happened.

The Halloween event was a big success because no one felt that they were left out by not being able to participate. There was no one time event in there that gave attendees huge rewards for attending.

The big back lash for this 3rd event was the loot that you could have gotten. If people would have just gotten exp and karma, those who have got dc at the end won’t be as mad and most of those who couldn’t participate would be just fine with it.

But as of now, those people and the most of the ones who couldn’t attend are upset because they missed the chance to get awesome loot. Basically, awesome loot in a one time event is bad. I hope it never happens again..

If it was so important, you should have requested the day off like every other responsible adult in this game. You’re an employee, not a slave. If you weren’t mature enough to think that far ahead, then this is your problem and not Anet’s.

It’s not that easy. Maybe if you’re part time, yeah. But if it’s your career on the line, there are rules you have to comply to. If they gave us the heads up 1 month or so, then yeah, it’s easily possible for most.

I have a job. But as the smart person I am, I requested OFF the day they posted what time it was going to happen. In all honestly, you can’t please everyone. I had to miss phase 1 and 2 Friday and Saturday becuase of work. You don’t see me constantly complaining about it on the forums.

A lot of people can’t just request a day off that easily. If it was mentioned a month in advance, then yeah. At my work, they get the month’s schedule out by the end of the previous month. You have until the middle of the month to request a day off. Unless it’s a valid emergency.

I was fine missing the event since I thought it was going to be like the previous Halloween event. You just get exp and karma for participating and some good but not so awesome loot.

Today, I was a little upset after I found out I could have gotten a precursor or something that’s worth a lot of gold or something that’s a big improvement on my gear.

All 1 time event does is drama and a lot of negativity. I for one hope that they never do it again on future events.

I’m really disappointed. It’s like being punished for having a job. I was fine not being able to attend this one time event due to my job, but knowing that I could have had a chance to get my hands on something really good, I’m kind of pissed off. If you’re going to have this one time only event, people should not get anything significant. It really sucks.

I have a normal 1-400 crafting guides for all crafts.

But I was wondering if there exists guides that has crafting boosters in mind? So that I’d have to use lesser materials since crafting materials became really expensive as of late.

I’m fine with this as long as no one gets to have a chance to get unique items or even a chance to get rare or exotic items. Also, as long as I don’t miss on any achievements, I’m fine with it too. Don’t want to be punished for having work or school.

The only thing that would make me upset would be to miss a unique item or a chance to get a rare/exotic item just because I missed the one time event.

My experience so far

If you’re in a group, farming, best professions I’ve seen so far for loot and mob tagging are:

Guardian – Staff weapon / greatsword
Ele – Staff – Air (first attack bounces off enemies and easily spammable) or keep switching elements for their AoE attacks.
Ranger – not as good in tagging as the others. It’s good if you know when to use your traps and your aoe bow attack because if those are in cooldowns, you’re stuck attacking one enemy though, piercing arrow trait solves that issue a bit.
– off hand torch has an AoE but it’s not ground targetting.

I know about the dungeon ones but I’m not exactly sure how it works for normal mobs. If I were to farm for an hour for crafting mats, when does the DR activate? Would I even know?

Also, when does it get removed so you’re all good to farm again?

I’m asking because I’m not sure if I should wait for the Lost Shore to start and start farming there or can I farm other areas now without the fear of DR affecting my Lost Shore farming once it’s live?

Personally i think its a good thing anyway, this game is huge go find something else to do other than one event chain over and over again. Event farmers are the reason Orr is so unenjoyable because no one ever gets to take part in the events as they were intended.

Really? Have you even done this event??? From your first sentence, it’s apparent that you have not. It’s impossible to bot this event unless someone out there makes a bot program that makes your character move with everyone else.

I don’t understand what the problem was that this event had to be nerfed. If Anet wanted everyone to try other DE events, then they should buff the others and stop nerfing things. Don’t break things that are working fine. Fix things that are actually broken. Buffing things makes people happy. Nerfing makes people upset.

I was wondering if you will still be able to craft MK Chests after this ends? I heard that halloween skins from the BL chests will still be available until the 4th? Is this true? Please confirm.

I just got to 60 and I’m looking for a new build. With the new trait book and new armors I am going to craft, I thought I’d change my current build for something better.

My pre-60 Ranger build was a trapper. I stacked +condition damage. My main weapon was a sword and torch with a longbow for the extra aoe damage. My main abilities were fire trap, spike trap, and entangled. It worked pretty well. But I was wondering if there was something better. I wanted to see if I could use a greatsword and be more effective.

I’m mainly going to do PVE and no PVP. Something that would give me no trouble in killing groups of enemies without problem (and fast if possible).

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I’m asking so I’d know if I have to wait or go for it right now with trading gold for gems. if there’s a big chance it’ll lower, I’d wait, but if it will only go up higher and then stay the same, I’ll buy the gems right away. Anyone know for sure?
