First really succesful portalbomb that we pulled off. Dont even remember the matchup but kitten it felt good.
As the title says, I was wondering what you guys currently consider the strongest 2vX setup for roaming in wvw.
My 2 cents: Gear seems fine but I personally don’t really like the runes. Elixier S and slick shoes are both really good alternatives to EG in wvw so you should give them a shot. I personally would swap sigil of leeching for either air or energy.
Also superior sigil of agility is currently not available for wvw and pve (only minor version is available)
There are two sigils of speed available in pvp.
One gives you 20 seconds of speed upon killing a foe.
The other one gives you 5 seconds of swiftness and 1 second of quickness upon weapon swap. Any idea if this sigil is available for pve/wvw?
Recipe for Marauder insignias and inscriptions can be bought from the craftsman guy that sells vanilla recipes too
As a rule of thumb I’d say always go for the rez. Knowing when not to res will come with the experience.
I doubt that I can bear to main Revenant. As far as I know they have the worst mobility in the game atm, and I hate being slow.
Definitely gonna give it a shot though
I am quite aware of that.
This is more about thinking of new fun/strong combos one might pull off once the expansion drops.
I was wondering if a taunted player was actually forced to use his AA while running towards an enemy player. If so I can see it being really, really strong in conjunction with pplex/confusion. (I am aware that you can stun break out of taunt)
Any thoughts?
Exactly what winterstone said.
But you should also consider that you need less precision with grenades and FT since you get so many hits, which results in more chances to crit.
It’s not quite as bad as you make it sounds honestly. Now I am not trying to defend necros whatsoever (signet of spite and all that stuff) but if you want kits and condi clear you can have it…
HT is 2 condiclears every 20 secs (if blasted)
EG gives you another condi clear every 20 seconds
Throw wrench on TK gives you another condi clear if thrown throught the EG lightfield.
Poisonvolley through the lightfield has a pretty high chance of removing your condis aswell.
But honestly the condi clear on HT is mostly enough for me. Dodging stuff like SoS is actually pretty easy.
1. Ranger
2. Elementalist
3. Thief
I think you can get 4-5 blasts in there easily. BoB→ HT → overcharge HT→ Shield #4 → Supply crate → EG#4/Rocketboots. In my opinion the waterfield on HT is fine. You can even get 2 blasts in the waterfield of the HT toolbelt skill.
like:
- smallcale fights
- build diversity (amulets in pvp feel very restrictive)
- guilds actually mean something (unlike pvp)
dislike:
- getting zerged
- tower/keep huggers
- reward system (go zerg or go home)
1) I run a setup that is pretty similar to yours. I run 30/10/0/20/10 aswell but with dire gear instead.
2) Don’t expect to hit people with your grenades at 1200 range. They either strave or dodge them. I use my nades at close to medium range instead
3) Sounds like a l2p issue to me. Asking other roamer for duels can help.
4) having a burst combo helps. for example my combo is: Pull —> prybar —> rocketkick —> shrapnel grenade that should load up your enemy with loads of conditions.
5) I hope you run healing turret. It is the best healing skill for the setup you run. learning how to blast your waterfields helps aswell. (you can get 2 blasts in the waterfield of the toolbelt skill etc.) Also gaining some distance to your enemy helps. I run rocketboots over EG for this reason.
6) If you want more damage give perplex runes a shot. They are not really liked and a bit OP in 1v1 scenarios but I think it is a great way to learn the class and how to use your interrupts.
7) Condi transfers are really, really, really, really painful. Not loading them up with too many conditions at once helps. You can allways do that after they used their transfer ability.
8) With your setup it think the longest stealth you can get is: BoB —> smoke bomb —> healing turret —> blast healing turret —> shield #4 —> EG #4. Maybe you can get a supply crate in there aswell. I haven’t tried it. Be carefull not to use BoB to stealth up when there are enemies around. It will give you the revealed debuff.
9) I love the shield abilities on engi. the blast is really strong and also a knockback. But you are right. I rarely use it as a means to reflect projectiles. I only use it really in a 1v1 with killshot warriors, which are pretty easy to beat anyway. Shield #5 is the ultimate thief killer. Also when you throw it, it is a 100% projectile finisher. Once you get the hang of it shield #5 is super strong.
10) sounds like a bombkit issue to me. Try using line of sight to make them come to you instead of the other way around. Watching videos of Koroshi and Wolfineer might help too.
11) Running forceful explosions is vital for a succesful use of the bombkit imo. Especially if you have trouble hitting people with your bombs. Believe me: 5 stacks of confusion are way more rewarding than some extra bleeds.
(I run: healing turret / rocketboots / grenade kit / toolkit / supply crate
my sigils are: bursting and torment/ runes: 4x Perplexity and 2x Lyssa or 6x Perplexity)
i like the 3 kit build better but maybe you can consider the toolkit. the pull and the block are really useful in smallscale battles
also i’d go with dire gear with either scavenging or undead runes
As an engi i can say the only times i die to a thief is either an insane burst from a d/d thief, when i dont block on time or a really well played s/d thief. S/d #3 is key imo for the boonstrip and evade. Also if you rely on stealth dont use the stolen ability since it rips you out of stealth.
I have to say that the new borderland maps are gorgeous. I really like the diversity in the ruins. Good job ANET. I even think it is nice to give the roamers a bit more to do. There is one HUUUUUGE problem for me though.
This would be the buff. It’s gonna benefit the people with the higher coverage at the time. Also and thats what bothers me the most, it prevents fair duels and gvg’s. So it would be nice to have a turn off feature or a neutral place where it doesnt apply (EB JP?). These duels and gvg’s were a core feature of wvw and i think it would be a pity if it were lost.
i vote for Isles of Janthir
