From the launch of the game to now, were the WvW expectations met?
Am I wrong to see it now as a larger version of the PVP meta game. Just everyone going clockwise on the map flipping towers for the most part? I’ve see a couple (2) ,defenses on Bay recently but then we already owned 95% of our borderlands and the attackers had no chance as we are able to port in for the block so easily while they were on outer gate up the hill.
I’d love to have an opinion on EB but since the season started I haven’t been able to access it at all. I try every day and wait for hours before giving up. It’s always full 24 hours a day. Maybe because I’m on JQ.
Am I missing some option here for getting better action? Another server? lowpop? where getting steamrolled might be a new experience. Hopefully there’s some middle ground.
Also I noticed alot of people I used to see are just not there anymore…frustrating.
No i’m not rushing. Just burnt out. Put it to you this way. What else can be made at 500 and are your skills usefull to anyone else, or even the guild? any trinkets? Better weapon stones or smaller upgrades etc? no, no and no. Even over time it’s boring but it might be just me.
I’m used to a Master craftsman having skills usefull to…the guild…guild wars.
I know it could not have been intended to be this way…
Straight to the point, after getting to 500, where’s the fun in this? Mindless grinding is my specific point. It would be nice if some lore was added in, travel to Southsun, talk to NPC who sends you on a quest etc…
As is, there’s Nothing worthwhile at 500 all by itself. The carrot seems to never get here.
By the time i’m 1/4 of the way to gathering mats for one Vision Crystal, I’m burnt out and cannot stand to login to the game. One whole bag filled with useless bricks… but I’m 500

Truthfully the lower Priority for WvW attention is driven by no current relative competition in that area. Like everyone has said. DAoC is dated / starved to extinction.
There’s still PVE subs to chase for ANet and obviously that’s the Priority. Heh some may still have a reason to hate on WoW. It’s forcing Anets attention on content that they perceive the need to get in place “Now” and “Prior” to new releases especially since WoW goofed with KFP (Kentucky Fried Panda).
Their Leadership is sure to want to again “Prioritize” stating Subs as #1 and that comes from WoW’s proven PVE hoard of potentially dissatisfied users. And do you think Blizzard will make 3 mistakes in a row?…Diablo III, KFP are two I could arguably name.
Leadership may say it’s too little window with the staff present to give WvW the same love as PVE is my summary despite the staff knowing or well wishing intentions to even things up a bit.
WvW/RvR isn’t a WoW staple at all. How many of us remember WoW coming down kitten early zerging. Sparks of what could be between Tarren Mill and Southshore. That fun lasted all of 2 weeks…
To me that was the best single experience I had in WoW. Now kill one guard or person near one of those towns and 25 guards appear running toward you at 250% speed.
8/10 – I’d go with a darker hair but that’s just me, good job.

Question 1: Do you see a purposeful WvW foundation of Defending your realm being instituted into the WvW landscape down the road? Others may feel different. I’m a longtime RvR player and having a sense of my Home region behind me as I move forward to defend the realm is my viewpoint I bring up.
Typically in Army sense, I’m missing the sense that I’m preventing the opposing Army from getting to my homeland. I know it’s all pixels in reality but we’re discussing design elements so be gentle :P
It’s hard to identify with my Lands “Border” when my indestructible Keep is in the middle of the MAP also for “that map”.
Question2: I would also ask is WvW meant to be a timewaster game like Angry Birds or more a long chessmatch? If it’s meant to be “Port North, kill for 20 secs, drain supply, port west get killed, Port Garrison, kill again, Port back, jump off the ice shelf, “Aaaaahhh! kersplash” avoid Krait, swim faster, Avoid lizard, Attack gate, drop the bomb, drop the bomb, omg we are A Jammed ahhh!…spastic port burnout (couldnt help it)
Small teams have little chance at all of the thrill of taking a strategic resource as the enemy Zerg can very quickly get anywhere within 30-40 seconds.
Not that I’m accusing ANet of causing A.D.D. I seriously ask the question can we expect more of the same strategy design wise, or do you think things will “Open Up a bit down the Road”. My personal preference is to not have the shorter expedient of porting all over as a means to “block now” every action.
Others may have constructive WvW Design questions for Anet as well. Please be respectfull and try to pose a specific question, and describe why any improvement down the road might be desirable for us all. Do as a say not as I do lol

They probably remove all necro skills and then people whine that necro look scary and they delete whole profession.
Some might say, “Don’t even joke about that”, it has happened before in what was truthfully deemed the worse nerf in MMO history. Yes! No debate. I initially thought the DAoC Left-Axe Nerf was bad. That one still to this day kittens me off just thinking about it lol.
Star Wars “Creature Handler”. Removed from the game, during an NGE “Complete Balancing” changes to the game’s combat" which left no stone unturned as the devs killed the game.
It’s a long painful story for those that lived it and the games demise, and has no place here but…I’m just saying be careful what you wish for lol.

What’s the worse that can happen, we get access to a condition based heartseeker? Or with our luck we’d get the Self kitten CC Sword from Ranger lol.
I finally said screw it and just installed all Cleric gear, alot of good it will do me.
I don’t know what to do with my Necro in WvW. Lost the desire to play her.
What takes me away from the immersion is the A.D.D. nature of North camp, port, west, port, supply, port… You get exhausted from the too frequent camp taking & porting with no semblance of stability for any length of time. No sense of accomplishment in the current WvW game.
The maps are too small! and elevations too great. Would be nice to have several wide open areas It’s common for a Zerg to port 12 times in 15 minutes covering the entire map.
In DAoC we could RVR for hours and not get exhausted from ADD syndrome. Also one keep take by the mechanics could take hours and still be fun. Everything seems to take less than 30 seconds or a minute at most here. It cheapens it in my opinion.
It’s obvious the art & design staff are insanely talented, I’d love to see a spread out map “Option”.
TL:DR All The map key points are so close there’s no “Time” strategy involved regarding the enemy making a choice and making it in time or not. It’s just the zerg farming. In small doses of course it’s still fun. In this case just because the devs could make it as intricate as possible in the shortest space possible doesn’t mean it’s fun for any length of time.

When I WvW it seems we are jumping all over the place and go from camp to camp, get supplies, build a treb, hit the north camp, side camp, port back to the middle 12 times in 12 minutes.
Seems a lot of A.D.D WvW. Is it just me? In another masterful RVR game I played for years, it took a while to get to your destinations. Yeah you could port, but fights seemed to take longer, also the enemy could shut down your ports, making your trek to the RVR areas longer so strategy was involved.
P.S. Should WvW have some wide open spaces between locations?….so there would be a reason to get mounts
