For a 1 on 1 build, I suggest using Axe+Shield / Greatsword.
If you want more mobility, you could take Sword+Shield.

I am fairly new to crafting, even though I have every profession maxed out. >.>
Anyways, my question to you kind people is:

How much does it cost to make one Bolt of Damask?
I see that it is roughly 14.5g on the TP and would rather craft my own if it is cheaper, but I also wouldn’t mind buying the mats to make Damask if it’s cheaper.

Do you have a WvW build for this?
By that I mean, there is no Marauder’s set for PvE/WvW; what are the stat combinations needed to achieve a “Marauder’s” effect outside of sPVP?

You know, damage dealer builds with greatsword have always been the warrior’s highest calling.

Let’s face it, warrior’s greatsword is the most elegant weapon in the whole game. You play by dancing around the battlefield like a graceous wrecking ball.

Berserker/Marauder Greatsword/X is beautiful, that’s why every warrior ends up running them sooner or later and sticking to them if they are good.

Sword might now be faster, but its movement skills will always be gap closers, not made to control the flow of a battle like Whirlwind blade.

However, I play it with Rune of the Wurm. 2x Defy Pain + 26k hp means you just refuse to die XD

Eh, no, no, and uh… no. The GS is not elegant, in my opinion. It’s not as mobile as it used to be. I have seen warriors running variants of Axe/Shield + Mace/X and outperform GS/X users. The weapon does not always matter, skill does. A lot of these ‘elegant’ GS users googled some build and thought “Oh look, I will be OP now!” when they don’t even know how to use the class.

One of my best moments as a young warrior was during the first few weeks of game release. I was roaming WvW and came across two thieves who were very low hp. I saw them running away from someone or something, they couldn’t see me because I was on a ledge above them. I quickly attacked the nearest NPCs to build some adrenaline and then used my hammer to F1 them and ended up downing them both

I completely understand that, however, OP asked for a build that would suit HIS playstyle. He enjoys Axe/Axe, and wants a build effective for his choice of playstyle. He didn’t ask for anyone to change the way he plays. Relax.

Not trying to downplay your advice Xyonon, but he asked for a build that would make his Axe/Axe effective. He’s playing Axe/Axe because it’s what he enjoys and brings fun to the game for him. The advice you gave goes against what he asked, since you suggested to not use Axe offhand.

Since you mainly play PvE, here are some quick tips.

Traits –
Strength 6 > V – IX – XI
Arms 5 > V X
Discipline 3 > III

WEAPONS:
Axe1 – Sup. Sigil of Fire [AoE, helps farm/cleave]
Axe2 – Sup. Sigil of Air [ More DPS] can swap with Sup. Sigil of Battle, 2 stacks of might, but since you enjoy dual axe, I recommend you use Air or something else you like.

I’ll leave the weapon swap up to you, although Longbow is good for range/AoE, or Greatsword for mobility/AoE.

ARMOR:
Full Berserker set,
Sup. Runes of Strength for might duration and +5% damage under the effects of might.
Can swap for Sup. Runes of the Ogre, +4% raw damage, get a pet on a 90s cooldown, and some power.

FOOD:
Use any food that gives +Power
Same with Sharpening stone, use any that you can afford.

I am a returning GW2 player, who mostly played the Warrior and Ranger classes.
I recently began having cravings to play GW2 again, and saw that there will be a new expansion with a new class along with specializations for current classes. SOUNDS AWESOME!

Anyways, I’m currently trying to learn the Engineer class, as it looks very fun and from what I’ve heard takes a lot of patience to play. I’m not very patient so I figured this class would help me with that.

One of the main problems I have learning another class is that due to playing WAR/RNG, I’ve become accustomed to dealing some decent damage and being very tanky, which leads to me playing other classes like them. >.<
This causes adaptability issues for me, and I usually just go back to W/R.

I’m guessing since I’ll need a while to adapt to the Engi class, that it would be best for me to use a tanky build? So with that being said, what are the basic/meta tank builds for Engi? I enjoy using multiple kits for some reason, as it unlocks a lot of skill variety compared to what I’m used to.

I’m not top player, but i’m above avg at least being able to reach top 100 easily in the previous leaderboard and being better then 95% of the PvP population, having thousands of games played, being able to do well with only longbow and naked in casual game Qs, and have a decent amount of time on most classes.
making me understand more of the PvP, team structure, roles and meta.

and i’ve played every single build you’ve listed and recently being playing 60026 gs/axe mace, i know what your “well” means because i’m pretty confident at warrior as a long time warrior. and your “well” is basically the same as my “well” of longbow only and naked “well”. probably slightly better but that’s it.

Ok. My point is that regardless of the meta, the warrior is still a viable class to play. Some builds may be more efficient than others, which has been the case since day 1.

Your claims to play with nothing equipped save for a longbow are quite entertaining, I actually chuckled. Thanks for that. I too, am confident in my ability to play the warrior class, hence why I’ve stated that there are other builds that can perform well besides the meta templates. Sure, top level players are going to set the meta by finding what is useful, and I applaud them for that.

One thing that comes to mind when I think of PvP is TEAMWORK, an aspect you seem to throw out of the window. When playing PvP whether it be unranked or ranked, you’re not queuing up to play 1v5, you’re hoping to play a balanced 5v5 team game, right? The objective is not to see who can win every single 1v1 or 1vX which is what you’ve painted yourself as doing, naked. We all want to be able to hold our own whether it be in a duel or an uneven fight, and we can do that as a warrior.

Please stop seeing everything as a personal attack towards you my man.

Basically without longbow warrior is pretty much crap. Yesterday I try going at it with GS/Hammer build. I got rip to pieces so fast (mostly due to conditions), its getting kinda funny. The one class I can go against 1v1 is another warrior.

However, as a shout heal condition with s+s/lb, I am pretty good. The shout + lb f1 allows me to cleanse conditions decently fast that I can survive pretty well.

I agree that conditions still pose a problem to the warrior, however I disagree when you state that warriors are crap without a longbow. My most played build is one that uses GS/Hammer, and I don’t encounter as many problems as you imply. I’ve also had successful fights against other builds.

As many say, “the sruggle is real” when it comes to playing a warrior. Sure, we’ve endured a lot of nerfs, but so have other classes. Like I said, it comes down to your playstyle and build type[s]. Condi heavy builds will demolish certain warrior builds, but it goes both ways.

Keep in mind that with laptops, you can’t just go out and buy a new card like you would with a desktop computer. It has to fit the specific laptop model.

Well, with this specific laptop, it’s able to have parts replaced and upgraded as needed, because it was custom made. I’ve got a replacement card ready to be ordered if needed, but was hoping this was a software and not a hardware issue.

I haven’t received a BSoD all day ever since the one that happened at 6am. I’m wondering if it’s because the thermal compound ‘settled’? Although, the temperature rises to 80C+ while playing certain games on highest settings.

Is it possible to replace the fan on my GPU? Also, I have the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M, are they both the GPU? Or is the intel my GPU and the nvidia my graphics card? Apologies, kinda new to this.

I found out that the TMPIN0 is my GPU, which is one of the above mentioned.

Let’s get to the point. I’m trying to decide whether to build a new desktop for around $500 or fix my laptop. Right now I’m using my backup Alienware.

My system has been receiving BSoDs when playing games such as GW2,D3 and LoL.
All the temps are fine, except one that is labeled TMPIN0 which reaches 97C. Idk what it is, could be mobo or CPU/GPU.

Points to graphics driver issues, tried using DDU to remove all driver files in safemode, clean installed in safemode, rolled back drivers, nothin worked. Clean installed Windows7, nothin.

Cleaned and reapplied thermal compound, dropped temps, but TMPIN0 still reaches 97C+ during stress tests and gaming.

Minidump files point to DirectX kernels and Nvidia drivers. Updated both, nothin.

As you can see, I’m at a loss as to what to do. Called the people who built my laptop, they suggest buying a new GPU. The repair shop I took my system to can’t produce a BSoD or figure out what’s wrong. Plz help

Alright, after about 20 minutes of playing GW2, I received another BSoD.
This time, as soon as I login and click PLAY, the game crashes and I get a BSoD

Well, so far so good! I rolled back both my Intel HD Graphics 4000 and the NVidia GeForce 675M, not getting a BSoD [yet]. Hopefully I never get one lol!

Is it ok to not update my drivers?

Rolling back the drivers now. How many times should I roll back? Until the game functions without BSoD?

Hey, I’ve recently been having BSoD’s when playing GW2. More specifically, the game will patch [if needed], load, and then place me into the game. Shortly after that, I get a BSoD with

EDIT: I’ve just uninstalled the game, deciding whether or not to reinstall yet, or take the laptop to the repair shop, but I don’t know how long it’d take to get the system fixed if it was needed… I just got back into the game after a couple months break.

Also, I don’t receive BSoDs when playing Team Fortress 2 or League of Legends, only when playing Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.

Warriors are stereotyped as this simple minded easy class, which in some ways it is.
But, in MY -=OPINION=-, it’s this simplicity which takes skill, yes I said it, to master the class. You’ll see dozens of warriors, all over Tyria, but not all of them know what they’re doing, especially when it comes to WvW/roaming or s/tPvP.

Sure, there are builds that are easy to pick up and get started, but like many before me have said; their bread and butter skills are easily telegraphed, meaning they are somewhat easy to react to.

Not ALL people who use the warrior will use the cheese/meta builds that people fear. I’ve seen some using dual maces with the Berserker suffix and spank other warriors using the cheese builds.

Spirit Weapons, no, just no.

PVT can work well on a guardian.

Doubt Guardians will get nerfed, they’re pretty balanced.

Many believe that we became OP when our peers failed to realize that there is no “Universal Build That Does Everything Extremely Well”.
Yes, certain classes are weaker in some aspects, but also excel at others.
People see a build/class that just completely spanks them, and automatically think everyone uses that same build, and then the cries for nerfs come.

Perhaps we should ask ANET to try balancing other classes to bring them up to speed.

If you think you can handle the toxicity that comes with following the path of the Warrior then yes.
If you cannot handle the prejudice you will receive from your peers, then no.

I’m focusing on PvE atm with my engi because I don’t like WvW’ing as an upscaled character.

Also, I’m not trying to get the same effects as my warrior on my engi; I’m just stating that because I’ve played warrior so long that it feels weird not having awesome tankiness, regen, and damage output all in one.

I would like to find a build that can tank multiple enemies, whether it be PvE or PvP/WvW and also be able to kill those caught off guard or not paying attention.

Right now I use pistol/shield and Grenade Kite, Rocket Boots, Flamethrower [because I like pouring flame all over enemies o.O] I use healing turret for sustain because I’ve watched some ‘pro’ engineers that roam in WvW and they suggest using 2+ kits and healing turret so I figured that I’d try and learn the mechanics of these skills early.

I just can’t seem to grasp HOW to play the engineer. Should I be kiting 24/7? Am I supposed to just spam grenades until whatever it is I’m attacking dies? I do that in PvE, it takes a lot of attention, okay just a little, but still, more than warrior! I tried doing some WvW and enjoyed barraging people with my grenades, even without that trait you all refer to.

…Is engi the class for me? I like it, it’s fun, but I think that I screwed myself by playing nothing but warrior and thief

I feel that the class is over played and well, I hate to say it, but takes little skill to master.
In the past I made a thread saying that I was switching to Engineer as my main class.

Hi, a little about myself. I’ve been playing Warrior since I was in the womb.
Now that everyone and their mother is playing the class, I’d like to switch to the least played class, aka Engineer.

I’ve mastered the Warrior class and feel it’s time to move on to a least played and somewhat more difficult class. This is where the Engineer comes into play.
I’m looking for some tips/advice and/or suggestions on what to do and how to do it.

I enjoy PvP in the form of s/tPvP and WvW, with some PvE [mostly dungeons/bosses] sprinkled in. I’m looking for any builds that allow me to do multiple thingss, with WvW being the focus.

Wishlist:
Build able to perform the following:
Solo roam WvW and survive, maybe win a 1vX battle
Able to assist in Zergs if needed
Perform well in dungeons

tl;dr warrior main since pre-release switching to engi, need versatile yet viable build that can switch from wvw to pve

that shows a 1H axe hoisted over the wars shoulder not a 2 handed great axe there is a very big difference . Also concept art does not game mechanics make . I haven’t seen a fan off hand for mesmers yet which was in the concept art for it .

You really think that’s a 1H axe? Please, show me an ingame axe that is that large. I’d dual wield that baby in a heartbeat!

I don’t feel like a warrior unless I’m using a GREAT AXE. Just the thought of cleaving or chopping something or someone is ecstatic.
Sure, I can use a greatsword, but it’s not so great when other classes are using them [cough ranger, mesmer]. I want a heavy kitten battle axe of death that will show my prowess as a WARRIOR >:D
