This gets on my t-ts too.
All six of them.
Agreed, this, far more than any bugs or gear treadmills, would be the death of GW2. Not to be rude to the OP, but I understand this thread as more of a general dissatisfaction thread than a serious suggestion (correct me if I’m wrong).
Well the current state of the game is pretty similar to Terri Schiavo before the feeding tube was removed, not dead, yet not “truly” living.
lol’d + quoted before Mod find.
It’s not a Range problem but a weapon problem. Mainly any bow.
A pathfinding* problem.
It would actually require ANet to amend the engine they built GW2 on. This is why it could deem very controversial if the mechanic becomes wide-spread and exploited.
Depends when in history to be honest. Let’s say when the English longbow was still around but starting to fade:
Bullets Pro:
Cheap and easy to make
Guns are easy to use (less training)
Guns could be made more easily in a factory process
Longer direct fire range
Faster travel
Intimidating
Smoke could be used intelligently
High Power (makes up for lower pen if it hits target without hitting anything in the way)Bullets Cons:
Lower penetration (lead shots likes to flatten out when it first hits something, even as weak as a tree branch).
Guns were unreliable, especially in bad weather
Lower effective range
Bad accuracy in general
Lower Rate or Fire
Smoke can work against you tooArrows Pro:
High piercing power
Different Tips available for various targets (and fire arrows)
Volley Fire
Higher Effective Range
Better Accuracy (with enough training)
More reliable, but still bad in rain
Quiet
Higher rate of fireArrows Con:
Long crafting time for arrows and bows
Highly skilled archers required
Ammo bulkier
Slower travel speed
Less durable weaponThat is what comes to mind. Going later in history makes the guns better and better of course. For instance Napoleonic era (early 1800s, so quite late) rifles probably had longer or equal effective range to longbows, but could do so with direct fire. However these rifles could manage 3 shots/minute when rushed by highly trained soldiers verses 6 shots/minute for a trained longbowman.
The only reason history favoured the gun was because it could be easily produced and deployed en masse, unlike longbows (or equivalent). It wasn’t until there was both rifling and cartridges that the gun really became a truly superior weapon in the hands of two experts.
Of course, massed gunfire still had a role in late medieval and rennaisance battles. Mainly the wall of lead and intimidation effect to break a key point in the enemy’s line. Massed longbow fire would do this too, but was much less dramatic.
That got long somewhere….:D
I like you, however, going to incur~
The musket during the 1800s was actually favoured for the sad and simple fact that a kid could pick one up and kill somebody with it, a fact that remains apparent to this day. It was primarily affective in CQB because it caused more devastating wounds than the bow, was light in weight and with the bayonet could function as a pike.
Using the longbow effectively required extraordinary strength. The bow, made of tough yew wood, had a draw weight of 80 to well over 100 pounds, something only the strongest modern archers can manage. Training took years – English law long mandated that boys take archery practice starting as early as age of 7.
A skilled English archer could submit 15 shots a minute, with 10 the minimum acceptable rate. A newly-recruited musketeer, in contrast, would be lucky to get off 2 shots per minute, while the best a veteran could manage was 5.
Don’t cause your Pet to miss 30% more.
The thing you’re all looking for is Fr-en-zy.
Where’s the Game Testers in that list~
Anywho:
Interesting how fixing a controversial post gets the bait instantly, as if Moderators are around the clock like a Gary Glitter stake-out, yet are so quiet to everyone’s Questions.
I have won 2 vs 1 games numerous times.
Whats the point? the point is to learn to win those 2 vs 1’s.
1 vs 4 is where it really gets challenging.
Can I have your autograph?
Sign it to; Shet, Furlov.
Thanks.
gl censor and i hope you can experience the fun in this game soon.
Thanks bro, but it gets boring around 36 Glory with full tourny, so I tried blind-folded but it’s just not doing it for me.
every class has a counter and is balanced.
Noted.
Well with Signet of the hunt +10% speed and +30% from trait it is still impossible to catch some classes in WvWvW. Insane imbalance or hacks I don’t know.
PvE wise anything is good, though my preference is Porcine (Knock down) and bird (conditions-)
Cool, so they can miss just a little bit faster~
Test it, run speed doesn’t rectify jack because the attack animation isn’t affected by any anything other than Frenzy.
Roll a warrior. The pet is an integral part of the class, one that will never change. And one that is apparently very difficult to fix, so don’t expect to have pets able to attack moving targets anytime soon.
I mean, they only have 2 people working on one of the more important parts of this game.
And they’re already on the bus with the Xmas event through & through Christmas.
So all the Idea threads that morons are suggesting, are only being swept under the carpet with a big fat 2013 knitted in it, thus will not be seeing ANY real changes until March next year.
If they prove me wrong however, I’ll delete this post~
Awful idea.
A good idea would be to fix PvP and their classes.
Then this idea.
That’s a good idea.
- Priorities people.
It’s funny that people can complain that there is no skill in PvP and yet simultaneously complain that good teams destroy PUGs.
Obviously, there is something there that makes them win. And I doubt it’s superior twitch reflexes.
I forgot to clarify that I was talking about sPVP (kitten, people barely res each other in sPVP). I don’t have a premade team for tPVP and don’t bother. Obviously, in tPVP, if a team is organized and know what points to cap and which caps need help and such, they function a lot better. They’re also used to playing with each other and know what to do.
TPvP is no better. Don’t let the students and dole-bludgers fool you into thinking they’re on another level because their only achievement is a pixelated star to their avatar. It’s just artificial fun having specific classes, in specific builds, stationed at specific places, doing one specific role; like an incredibly obsequious parent from Teen Cribs.
Thanks CENSOR.. I hadn’t read that, I was hoping that wasn’t the case.
Oh well, Rage as one and swapping weapons it is.
If the movement from that skill is 20% that doesn’t apply in combat it would still be garbage.
So raise it or lower it even I’m not touching it again anytime soon.Perhaps as an alternative they could offer us a trait that gives flat % movement while a shortbow/longbow is equipped? Kind of like they have for Necro – Daggers.
For the very first time I played this, the very first thing I noticed, was the very trash idea of combat-speed.
And considering ANet wouldn’t ever lift it – I’m relentless for a default speed buff on Rangers.
This is why I currently went back to WoW’s Hunters. Every MMO’s largest rival, and they encouraged me to re-sub. Ironic, that.
More importantly; is it still cool to like NIN? Will Reznor ever stop trying to be alternative, and be alternative?
~
One thing I don’t quite understand, when I have the 10% equipped it seems like it only applies out of combat?
Even though the little bonus is still showing up in my buff effect line. This happen for anyone else?
I don’t even use it anymore.
Because ANet thought in PvP; it would be a cheerific idea to debuff players in combat and engaging them in a ‘fair’ exchange of combat – slowing PvP down over freedom of will – thus causing more holes than filling them.
So; Pets getting snagged by a straw of grass and bottlenecking you – 80 miles away. Or taking fall-damage from jumping out of the spawn den~
It’s a god awful mechanic and I want to see it dressed-up as a gold ring
and nailed shut in the coffin of Jimmy Savile.
- Maybe he can fix it.
Its honestly a bit infuriating to see designers can find the time to post on things like this (not to be rude, but svanir’s always been like this, its nothing new. It even says “awards on last hit” when you highlight the bosses) when the community has some pretty pressing questions concerning the latest patch which are being ignored.
If you do manage to find time (this is a sincere request, not sarcasm), please check this out

(yes, I am the author of this post)
Because isn’t it painfully transparent that ANet flaunted the workload of implementing the tag mechanic into GW’s engine.
This Dev is just throwing up a cringe-worthy cover story that’s got too many holes in it to be plausible.

Infinite evasion.
Not just new players! Even in its current not-so-great shape, this is still my favorite class. : ) I have an 80 warrior and near 80 thief, but they don’t surpass the joy I have from playing my ranger. ^^ I still hope Anet fixes us one day though, it’d be great to love my ranger more. xD
My ranger is fully geared minus any ascended gear at 80.
Maybe the wound was a fissura ani.
Good Game testing~
Do you work for Jon Peters?
Don’t get bored again.
Guys.
After you’ve finished your Dailies, can someone tell me how the Quit is going.
~
Interesting paradox.
A riech actually merged, needlessly overlooking the OP’s obnoxious imposition.
Bet his Christmas List spirals mum into two jobs.
I like my PvP Ranger, because when I hit tab, I know I’m the best player there~
Or the idiot.
Ah, the ol’ repent psychology thread.
“I quit, am playing ANets main competitors, and shall prevent sales to cause their demise” ~All of which can be done in noble silence, but no one will know otherwise.
Transparent and never works but I got a feeling about this thread!
Very good.
Pick a Mesmer. It allows you to eat at the Computer whilst the AI win for ya.
It’s like fashion; you just know how poor someone is from their wardrobe~
With over 800 tournament games play as a ranger, I can safely say these ranger ‘buffs’ are close to an absolute joke.
And I say this with plenty of tPvP experience as ranger. (over 800 tournanment games played as ranger).
Small man syndrome.
