Been playing this game since the beginning on Underworld. have seen my fair amount of hackers. I am not a hardcore WvW, i dont realy play it to much.
But when i have been playing lately i have often come across hackers from Blacktide, you may say that you hate them and what not, but it still dont change the fact they they are devestating to WvW. Only takes a few to destroy alot, it is so in all games.

Sure you might get 600+ constant, but before you pump you chest to much up in pride, you got to remember that many (myself included) simply quit WvW when i see a hacker, i simply dont want to waste my fun time with them, and with the amount i have seen lately, i can understand why you easy get 600+. It is because many simply dont want to bother with WvW due to hackers.
Even back when i was very active in WvW i never saw this amount of hackers, and true all servers have them, but this amount is almost silly.

Learn to seperate runs, i split all my dungeon/fractal runs into 3 groups.

1. Speed runs: Full zerk and know what you are doing (i rarely do those)
2. Casual runs: Come as you are and we get trough it together and have some fun (always do those with randommers)
3. Guild Runs: Who cares about time, all about fun.

So basic advice is take your time when picking the group in lfg, and make sure you join the group that fits you.

Is it really that bad for the Vets?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Calcanius.5048

In short: YES

Always bad when you give supporting customer a worse deal than new customers, that is often a sure way get rid of loyal and currently supporting customers.

They offer a bundle containing (X and Y) to the marked.
Vets, who already own X. they only get Y from the bundle, while new players gets both. Since they both pay the same price for the bundle they should both get the same.

And i know there will be white knights saying that i already had much fun with the game and what not, but the facts are the same even if you refuse to look at them.

You simply cannot say that you get the same because if the did, the Vets would have ended up with XXY while the new players would have gotten XY.

I fully understand the raging vets who will not support this and am also one of them.
Me and the wife bought the game on release, and bought secondary accounts for both when they told of HoT, some 3-4 months ago. We feel robbed with this stunt, and are not gonna trow money at this scam.

Person 1 gets home only to find the shop clerk there, Clerk tells Person 1 that he have to give up 1 BOB. So now person 1 can choose to keep his beloved old BOB or the new BOB.
Problem remains for person 1, he still loose a BOB paid for and is therefor not getting same value for money as person 2 who also bought the same bundle

Love the whole sentimal view of BOB,
But lets be honest, even though you love your old BOB and have takend him to several Diving platforms and he has gotten so many lovely dents and scratches.
Dont you like you are doing a bad deal when you go to the shop to get a bowtie for your dentent old BOB, and see that the person next to you gets the same bowtie and a brand new BOB for the same price as you ?

Sadly Emotions was not part of the challange, hell if wanted yo talk about emotions i could talk about my 51 level 80 charaters.

Challange did not mention any price, so no need to talk about 50/75/100 $/£ or simular, price is not mentioned in the challange, so it does not have a given values, it can be refered to as X for instance.
Challange does not mention time either, so does not matter how many hours you have been in game or plan on spending.

The price is not what burst my and wifes bubble. We even bought secondary account during the hype 3 months ago.
The thing that kitten us off is that they sell a bundle to all, and after you get your package a person comes running up to you and says: “wait you already have that and takes it away again” leaving you with half a package.

The person who thought that was a great markething idea need to get his school money back, it is the complete opposite of what you want to do.
Normaly you reward people who support your company and helps you raise funds for new products, that you can sell to excisting and new customers. But this is a kick in the nuts for all the customers who supported you (except for the white knight/fanboys and trolls, who will buy your product no matter what you do)

This feels hopeless, but i will try again

Gem price:
If i purchase 100 gems for lets say 100 gold, then the gem price will go sligtly up, so the next buyer will have to pay 100 gold and 50 silver.
If i convert gems to gold then the gem price goes slightly down, might even drop a bit over time when there are no demand, (simpel supply and demand issue)

That was gem basic now to gold.

Gold looses its value when there are being put more gold into the game, this happens when anet removes gold sinks like Armor repair and when there are being put more gold into the game like throphies, gold for killing stuff, dungeons and yes to a certain degree restoration of hacked accounts.

Anet have been putting large events where you earn insane amounts of gold, Chinese new year, got around 150% gold back from what i spend when selling trophies, spoons, thats another 10 silver each, the permanent increase to gold find % you get each month, dungeon rewards, other junk you get from game and sell to normal vendor.

That is all increasing the amount of gold in the game and that decrease the gold value, witch you can see in gem price in form of gem price going up, since more convert gold to gems.

Hell i will even trow you a bone and say YES, gold sellers does influence the gem price, but not as much as Anet themself with lack of goldsinks and increase of amount of gold ingame. (edit) And this is to help new players so they will be able to make a fair amount of money and not leaving them beheind, since if the game does not feel rewarding it often make people quit the game
This does however not change the fact that it hurt lots of people with the 500 gold mail restriction, since there are now easy way in game to earn huge amount of gold.

LOL the gold byers dont have that much influence on gem price.
Here are some things that influence gem price:
1: number of desired items for sale
2: amount of gold in the game
In details:
The more desired items anet make for the game that people cant live without the more buy gems and thereby increase the gem price.
People can buy gems 3 ways:
1: legal real life money to anet for gems
2: gold to gems
3: illegal gold sellers
When anet desided to remove the cost of reparing armor they removed a gold sink, thereby decreasing the gold real value.
Rewards: when killing a mob and getting a silver, doing a dungeon and getting a gold, purchase legal gems and converting them to gold: These are all things that lower the value of gold and thereby raising the price of gems.

In short: the lack of gold sinks and the fact that you can purchase gold for real life money thereby increasing the amount of gold in the game is what, increase the gems price, not realey the gold sellers. You need to look at the amont of gold you can make per hour vs the amount of gold you could make per hour 1 year ago. Then you can see that these 2 numbers follow each other.
Anet have printed more ingame money and increase the amount you get to help new player, and is realy them you should blame for the increase in gem price.

(Just so there are no misunderstanding: events like Pavalion and chinese new year envelopes. these 2 put a insane amount of gold into the game, there are also others, but these 2 spings into mind as top events where i and many others made a fortune)

I do see you point in the challange, and i respect it, that is your choice that you dont want to help others others or loan money from friends.
But why on earth ruin it for all who use it, thats just silly. By doing this it is the same as telling me how to play my game and that is just wrong in everyway.
The developer keeps praising how friendly the community is, and this actualy works against being friendly, since you will be punished by helping others.
I hit the limit last week and got had money i could not recive until sunday, but when i get those i am already on my way to next weeks limit.

In short: Play how you like, but dont tell others how they should play, if you like the challange of not having any savings then it is you choice, but some does have a fair amount saved, that they can use to help others.

Back to topic: 500 is to low

I think it is to high, 50 per week would be better. Maybe you have to much Gold, but this is an MMORPG not a banking simulation. The game would be beter if all the things you listed woukd not be possible at all.

Concerning dungeon selling: If the tokens should be buyable for gold, then ANet could make the token tradable on the TP. Done, all this bad mud of dungeon selling gone.

Concerning Gold transfers between own accounts: Having many accounts mean login in with each once a day gives you 40 laurels ( around 50g if you buy T6 mats for laurels) per month per account. I don’t think such money farming should be possible, Collecting 500 per week on your main from you satelites is already far behind everything you can earn by actually playing the game.

Concerning the 50 gold limit: There are lots of people who make 50-100 gold a day and even more, this is common when farming for legendary, it realy does not take much luck to earn 500 gold a week if selling everything.

Concerning gold transfer between accounts: Seems like i may not have made myself clear enough to understand:

1: I suffer from mood swings and for that reason i have 50 level 80 toons on more than 1 account, so if i play on other (not main) for a week i will accumelate a large sum of money that will be hard to transfer back to my main.

2: Couples, we are many couples who play guild wars together, and couples often have a HUGE desire to help each other, instance, my wife have a gem addiction so she can get all the outfit and whatever there is in gem store so i transfer large sums of money to her so she can buy gems.

3: It seems that yu forget that there are some friendly player sin the game who sometimes get that silly idea to loan gold to friends so they can buy that big " Pink Fluffy Unicorn" in the shop window that they just saw. this causes problems with 1 and 2. Since when they pay you back, you get to limit even faster.

Hope this helps to understand why 500 is to low and causes problem for so many.

Back to topic: 500 is to low

1: Difficult to loan large sum of money to friends
2: Dungeon sellers are helpfull people who help people who cant stand pvp or dungeons, (they can also hit the 500 limit fast)
3: Lottery
4: Helping others with money for legendary
5: impact on seller (minimal at best) many other ways for them to wash the stolen goods to gold.
6: transfer gold between your OWN accounts.
7: the limit is lower than 500 (exampel if you have gotten 350 gold and a friend sends you 200, it says you have gotten 550 and lock the 200 until next week, even though you only gotten 350. Also locks all others)

Summary: raise it to 900 to hit less people who are not in target group and still tease the hackers since they sell 1000 gold at a time. 500 gold is a low amount of gold and can easy be accumeleted within a week, The hackers can easy get around this problem.

Was a bit surprised to see these prices today, but as “manipulated TP for gold transfer” they would make sense.

How would that work though, since no one knows who is buying or selling.

Thats easy i purchase all the “pink fluffy rainbows” on pc where i am locked in on main account and then sell 1 for 3256 gold 21 silver 52 copper, the exact amount that the hacked account have after i have sold all they own, then i purchase the “pink fluffy rainbow”. and viola, gold transfered.
can be done in a sec if locked into both accounts with 2 pc´s next to each other.

To be honest your guild idea seems far to slow and time demanding.
Reason: 3 day limit when in new guild, and a hacker is like a burgeler, he dont want to run around in your house for 3 days eating all you peanutbutter and jam while waiting for his fellow thiefes to bring the van for the stolen goods. And guild vault have a nice list of who deposit and withdrag items
Solutions:
1: He can either purchase high level stuff on tp and mail that, and the sell it on tp again for instant gold, this is fast but does leave small trail of breadcrums.
2: He can manipulate the the tradepost a bit more tricky, but find a item where he may be able to buy out the goods for sale and the post them for same amount of gold that the hacked account have.
3: other more cleaver ways i havent thought off

trading will now just move over to personal guilds.

hackers can just invite the hacked account, dump all the gold into this guild then take their time to collect all the items and stuff. no need for the mailing system. Then kick the player from the guild again.

legitimate trading can and probably will, just use personal guild this way. Invite player. give them rights to deposit/retrieve. Then transfer stuff that way.

No NO and NO

Since they do not restore gold/items in guild vault if a account is hacked and empty the guild this is a terrible idea. Never have more in guild vault than you are prepared to loose if unlucky and hacked.
And hackers will most likely just wash their stolen goods on TP, purchase items for all the money in hacked account and mail stuff to hacker and the sell it to get the gold

Here is a question I’ve not seen addressed. Let’s say you are receiving the gold you lent a friend back via the mail and he sends you 2 mails each containing 500g. Now according to the limits as posted, you can take one right away and wait a week for the next mail to complete the transaction. What happens if you take gold out of your guild bank or another friend that you lent money to sends you his repayment (say 200g in this example). You haven’t reached your 500g limit for the week but the only mail you have to take money from is 500g. Do you receive the portion of that gold that takes you to the 500g per week limit or is the entire amount locked until you can withdraw it all?

Easy answer: have to wait to get full amount.
I and wife often loan large of money to friends and was slapped with this silly 500 gold rule, so at sunday when i could finaly recive more money i was already well on my way to limit for next week.
I think of myself as casual player and only see disadvantages with this silly system, since you can easy hit 500 gold in a week. 500 gold is to be honest no longer a fortune and can easy be accumilated within a week.
Raise it to 900 or more to hit far less players but still tease the goldseller who sells 1000 each time
(edit) and if you recived 350 in a week, adn get a mail off 200 gold, then the system says you are now at 550 so you can not even get the 200, hance making the limit even lower.

It was meant as a exampel on how to transfer more than 500 gold to customer in a week and how you can manipulate the marked and maintain happy customer who gets the gold he paid for fast not meaning that they would choose that item or simulary.
But even if they do choose to send a high quality item they can just marked it a as customer service, that the customer get more than he paid for.
Dont forget it is that their job is to tranfer gold to customer account for real money and goal is also to have happy customer who comes again.
But seem like we are getting off the topic. I just want to get this low 500 limit raised to exampel 900 so it hurt far less real player adn can still be a small problem for the sellers

They can still send you 3000 gold. It’s just you can only withdraw 500g a week in total from mail or a guild bank. Any leftover in the mail stays there until it’s all depleted.

Of course. But recieving 3000g from a seller means it will take 6 weeks to get your funds. Or you could make multiple transactions for smaller amounts. Either way it makes it extremely inconvenient for those buying, which leads to not wanting to deal with the hassle, which means less business for Gold Sellers.

No need to wait 6 weeks, they can just send you some goods so you can list them on tp for a certain price that will get you your purchased amount of gold.
All this change has done is to make is slightly slower for gold sellers to transfer funds to customer, but at the same time made it realy annoying for lots of players since 500 gold is a rather low amount of gold.

So, if someone buys 1000 gold from a gold seller for $X, then that’s what they are going to want to get. Not a bunch of mats to sell that maybe will or maybe will not get the gold you were promised. If someone pays $X and gets mats that sell less than the amount of gold promised, you think they are going to be happy and the gold seller get repeat/referral business? Most people aren’t going to be happy to get mats that do sell for the gold promised because it’s not what they paid for and they were promised to get.

If you buy gold with real money, the last thing you want is whatever crap the goldseller has decided will make up that gold and send it to you to sell. There is no reason to believe they will send quality items to sell when junk will do the same thing.

You still get the amount ordered (1000 gold used in exampel).
Exampel: Mjölnir is currently ordered for 1007 and listed for 1400, so large gav in between.
Gold seller sends Mjölnir to buyer +110 gold and tell buyer to list it for 1100 and then sellers buys it off tp so he gets it back.
Reason for the amounts:
110 gold so seller can pay the listing fee of 55 gold, along with that you loose 10% when item is sold in tax (110), so you end up with getting 935 from tp and still have 55 of the 110 seller mailed to you and you end up with 1000 gold.

(sorry if my math is a bit off i have been drinking

500 gold is to low.

Reasons:
1: My wife and i like to help other friends, so often loan large amount of gold to them, because we know they pay back fast. This is more difficult in the future
2: Dungeon sellers can easy hit 500 gold in a week if skilled. (dungeon runners help other not to skilled at dungeons for a price)
3: 1 and 2 combined, almost pointless to help our dungeon seller friend by loaning them money for what ever they desire, because they cant generate much income in a week if the loan 4-500 on sunday.
4: Large guilds, lottery events and mailing gold to WvW commanders so they can by siege, helping guildies with gold to legendary and much more.
5: Realy doubt that it have that large impact on goldsellers/hackers, they are not garantied a amount of gold per hacked account, so the 15% loss by washing the money on tp is nothing, and there are easy ways of getting the gold to customer via tp.

In short: Raise the amount to 900. Reasons: hit far less people who are not the target group, the goldsellers still advertice with 1000 gold for x amount of $, so they will also be hit (a bit).

Oh nevermind she was laughing so hard tears started rolling since i read this post to her, and where not crying. My bad, please continue

Gold Transfer Changes

Still only see that this will hurt real players more than seller.
Real player: loans money to friends, sells dungeons, guild lottery and tons of other options, they will get punished since they now have to pay tranfer fee on tp to tranfer large amount of money.
Hackers: loose as small amount of the stolen value, they just convert gold to items, instance, mail 5*stack of charged lodestones (around 3500) and sell it on reciver account for money.
Sure goldsellers might loose a bit profit, but they still gamble on the hacked accounts, they never know what they are going to get, so tp tax is only a small setback, where real players get punished.
(edit) At least raise it to 1000, think that will hurt far less people than 500, 500 is a small amount of gold and can easy be accumelated in a week.

Gold Transfer Changes

I think of myself as a casual player, and often go way above the 500 gold amount, loaning gold to friends and tranfer money to wifes account to help her gem addiction.

Appart from that i can understand the reason for this change, but dont agree. Seems like a rushed decision that realy havent been thought trough.
It will hit the hackers who try and send money, now they will be forced to instant buy charged lodestones and send it that way
But it willl also hit quite a few people who loan money to friends and major guilds with compertitions.
(edit) Not to mention dungeon seller and buyers, my wife want all the outfit/clothes (Girl thing where you can never have to much clothes), so we often purchase help from people who can solo/duo or complete it in another way. For instance i just bought help to get trough Aetherpath (Realy hate it) and happily payed a large amount of money to the 3 people who spend a hour making it for us.

In short: dont think it will hit the goldsellers/hackers as hard, since they just change money to high end goods to transfer large amount of gold, but think more than the estimated 1-2 % will be hit, 500 gold in a week is rather low in my opinion with the current economy.

Need help with character!

Same as Seera above + a hint.
Plays with my wife and have 46 level 80 charaters each(all race/class combos). Make sure you/she plays a class/race she likes, that will keep the game fun longer (my wife prefer Azuras, small bundles of energy).
Builds: There are lots of good suggestions for different builds, but make sure you make your own build to suit your own playstyle, to make the game more fun (booring to have to play a certain way to do max damage)

Worth buying superior runes without ascended?

You can just go with some cheap superior runes until you get your acendent, sure you might loose a small percentage of max dps, but it is better than most major

That point is just the most popular safe spot, because it is easy to find before he spawns, there are actualy tons of safe spots (even right in front of him).
He lags some propper area damage like all/most other world bosses have, but this has been mentioned almost since the beginning and i doubt it will change anytime soon

Ascended gear grind is OTT ridiculous

Calcanius.5048

Find it funny how you complain about getting gear for your other 4 toons, but as stated it is not needed.
But is you feel the need to complain about only 4 toons, then i need to create a flame tread since i have 46 level 80. and only 3-4 in full acendent, but i dont.
You dont need to be full acendent to complete anything, you can do everything in the game in exotic.

Armor repair has no purpose anymore

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bring back the cost of reparing armor
Hate the fact that they removed the cost of repating armor because some whined about it being to expensive, i think it was to cheap.
The price was scaled with the rarenest/level of your armor, so the higher level armor the higher the repair cost. ( at max it was only a few silver )
I can not take the people who think it was to expensive serious since even with if you did die a lot, it will only take you a few minutes of killing fluffy animals in any high level area to make a gold and thereby making enough money for all the repairs needed for a full day, hell you can even kill fluffy animals in a starter area and just sell all loot and you will still make more money in a few minutes than you would spend on a whole day of repairs.

So in short: Bring back the repair cost and scale it to match the current inflation of the economy, and stop whining about having to spend a few silver on reparing/travels. When you can make more gold than you would spend on repair/travel, by killing fluffy animals a few minutes a day.

Stackeable conditions and power builds

Simply increase the bleeding caps based on NPC rank. 25 stacks are fine for basic enemies, but Veterans, Elites and Champions could have much higher bleeding caps (say 50 for Veterans, 100 for Elites, 200 for Champs, 500 for Legendaries and 1000 for epic NPCs)

This would also not change anything for pvp which is good.

Good suggestion but then the condition damage calculation needs to be changed since bleed does more damage per stack of bleed, the more more stacks the more ekstra bleed damage.

Bleed calculation:
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + (0.5 * Level) + 2.5 per stack per second
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + 42.5 per stack per second at level 80

So at 500 stacks it will instant kill, almost like feedback did on wurm not to long ago.

The only real solution i have seen is where the overflow condi damage (more than 25 stack for most) would just be converted into raw damage, but then they need to increase the hp/toughness on most/all to work with that.

Fastest way to farm Empyreal Fragments?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Calcanius.5048

Calcanius.5048

If you’re in a guild/friend group that can speedclear 10+ dungeon paths in a few hours, that’s the fastest. Otherwise Silverwastes.

A combination of them also works (do the paths that you know you can do fast, then SW chestfarm the rest of the time).

You must be doing some realy special dungeons if you can keep up with the 3 stacks you get per hour by doing chest farm, just to help with the math.
SW chest farm: 1 round 30-40 chest giving 7-13 empyreal fragment per chest and 1 round takes 20 minutes average. so that is around 250 per hour.
Would love to see that elite group who can get more doing dungeons

Fastest way to farm Empyreal Fragments?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Calcanius.5048

Group of 5 flipping camps in WvW. Each time you kill the camp Veteran Supervisor you get 3-5 empyreal fragments (it got nerfed cause the drop rate used to be insane).

After you’ve done your dungeons, I would say WvW would be faster than Silverwastes, especially if you’re in a middle tier with enough activity for people to be flipping camps behind you but not be defending the camps in front of you. Since there’s a total of 24 camps, that’s plenty of legit farming if you want to go for it.

LOL are you kidding, clearly you havent done any chest farm in silverwaste.

Join a chest farm map and you get a stack of empyreal fragments per 20 minutes, since you get 7-13 per chest and a round get you 30-40 chest.

Zerker Discussion

The whole zerker issue is actualy easy to fix. Just give certain bosses the same ability as Tequatl, not being able to be critical hit.
This will allow more more classes to be more usefull and prevent this whole “zerker only issue”.
Dont get me wrong i do use zerker build, they are the only way to farm and ensure you get loot with the weak PvE mobs who die before they even spawn when faced with even a minor zerg.
But with 46 different charaters is have tryed lots of other ways to play, and find it a shame that the game design tend to force people into the zerker way. When there are so many fun ways to build your charater and still be very usefull.

[Suggestion] Increase in Level Cap

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Calcanius.5048

Calcanius.5048

Got 46 charaters who all vote no to increase the level cap, all looking at their wallet in panic.
Bad enough when patches makes some runes/sigils worthless and lots of them have to go and get new runes/sigils again.

Appart from that i dont see the need, since you need to redesign the traits to match the new levels and tons of other things need to be reworked to work with the level increase. Better if they focus on fixing some of the many bugs instead of making new bugs with useless level increase.
