Keyboard stops working ingame?

in Account & Technical Support

Capn Evan.4586

So suddenly, out of nowhere my keyboard stopped working ingame. I’ve reloaded the game thrice, and it still doesn’t help. I can Alt + tab out of the game, and the keyboard works fine (as you can tell by me typing this post), but I can’t move, use any abilities or type anything in chat ingame. I can still use my mouse though.

Also, be vary that high level areas are harder to traverse without coming in combat, but I assume you know that. Combat reduces movement speed etc.

Renowned Hearts question - Finding area

in Players Helping Players

Capn Evan.4586

So what I want to ask about is Renowned Hearts’ area, and whether it’s possible to view the borders of the Renowned Heart. What I mean is, if you kill an inquest or nightmare courtier outside the borders, you don’t contribute to the renowned heart completion for example.

What I find most of the time in new areas is that I can see the guy/gal with the empty heart above his/her head, asking me to deal with bad guys in the area. Only problem is, there’s no bad guys in sight, and usually the heart isn’t in the center of the zone either, often on the edge of it, so I don’t even know in which direction I’m supposed to go to finish the heart.

Is a full Warrior guild viable in WvWvW?

Everyone knows that when warriors get shot down in battle, they can stand up to fight again for a while before being defeated, what if say, a team of 20 warriors fought together, and they had specs in team support and of course the toughness while reviving, so that when people fell, they could get up, run backwards in the ranks, fall there, have a teammate revive them, get back in, rinse and repeat.

Would this be good, or would they simply be stomped by a more diverse setup of the same amount?

So the only reason I love Ranger is because of the pets, it seems pretty useless to play Ranger without pets. So basically I have a shortbow + Axe/Horn setup, and I wondered how I can maximize my pet’s potential. I have a brown bear, and a raven.

And the final question is, is it worth it? How good is beastmastery in front of more bow damage etc.?

Hmmmm I’m looking at you post history and found this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/If-Ascended-stays-Make-WvW-use-pvp-gear

I know I’m the kind of person that like you can high heel into a discussions. to be really confroning. sometimes I do but most of the time I try to show compassion and understanding to the other person’s point of view. In the thread the Op has expressed his concerns bout an issue he is worried bout. I think with you he is wrong with his fears and it is months ago and with hindsight it is right.

But at that moment the OP had genuine fears bout a recent change. Maybe show some compassion. Many time a line like ‘I know where your coming from but I….’ sounds a lot different then ’ you are wrong cause…..’

Both are saying the same thing. There is a term called giving constructive feedback. You can say: ‘Your are wrong and im going to show you how wrong you are’ or you can say ’ you have some interesting opinions but I dont fully agree with your reasoning cause….’

So when posting try to feel as the person on the other side a bit more and I think you will do great. Good luck!!

1. My post was deleted for saying “I agree, this totally needs to be implemented” to a suggestion.
2. My post was removed for saying “They can’t…They’re reserved?” to a topic regarding reserved names. The post was deleted but the discussion following the quotes of my response lead to a lot of good discussion.

Before you delete this thread as well, know that in this thread all my intentions are to learn how to act on this forum, because like 80% of my posts are deleted, and 0% of my intentions were to break any rules or cause harm to the forum, I came because I wanted to positively influence the community.

I don’t think I have to put much emphasis on how important these changes will be to the bug fixing of Guild Wars 2, and how much I want them to be among the top priority changes coming in the next patches, it’s therefore imperative that a mod/admin reads this and passes it on! Please help me by posting your support/questions/additional suggestions here.
The bug report system is horrible, sometimes you find stupid bugs in the middle of a tense fight, and you can take all the computer screenshots you want, you still can’t capture it in your bug report. So my suggestion is to allow people to take screenshots in-game any time they want, and then attach them to the bug report from a folder in the game files. This is the first step of getting better bug reporting to remove all bugs from the game, and is extremely important at this early stage of release.
The other change is the ability to “save” the text you’ve written in the report. Sometimes I write a really long text about a bugged Dynamic Event, and suddenly I forget the name of the area. When I go out of the report to check, I have to copy/paste the text and re-find the categories to keep writing the text with the additional info. This proves really inconvenient and could be fixed simply by the bug report system remembering what you last wrote. When you have sent the report, or if you click “clear” button, it resets so you can write a new report from scratch next time.

Improving Crafting - Get a feel of actual crafting

Alright, I really love the crafting disciplines we currently have, but I’m still not so exited that we have no interactive crafting disciplines, at all. All you basically do is click some text, run to TP, run back to station, click some more text, rinse and repeat. You don’t always feel the love in making your first sword in the heat of the oven, apart from some particles here and there. This needs to change!

Tl;dr:

Suggestion 1: Spread out crafting stations into their own houses for a more realistic feel. Don’t have everything in one station, but spread out in different tools used to craft a recipe (workbench, anvil, furnace, loom etc.) Balance xp gained to reflect this change.

Suggestion 2: Make animations instead of bars going up! When making items it should look like it, not just that you’re standing still for a minute clicking some text. Make it look like you’re making a sword, or a bow, or a bag or a jewel!

If you want more reasoning behind my suggestions, read on!
__________
Suggestion 1: So my suggestion is to spread out the crafting stations in for example houses, for example Armorsmithing could have it’s own Forgehouse, with a furnace for refining ingots, an anvil to form weapons, and finally a crafting bench where you can experiment with recipes. Of course the experience gained must be reflected in the extended time consumed in making a finished recipe, but I think it will be well worth it.

Suggestion 2: Alright, so my other point is about getting the feel of actually crafting something. The way to do this is easy, animation! When you forge a bow-stave at the moment, you just see a single line that goes up and finally gives a dinging sound when done. Instead of this, have an animation that reflects you cutting out a bow-stave from a plank. When you make a new sword recipe for example, have the character beat it with a hammer then raising it into the air. With two-handed weapons make them hold them into the air with both hands.

I’m sure you catch my drift, but if you don’t, feel free to ask if anything is unclear. I’d also like your opinion and alternative suggestions if you have any, so bring them

This will rarely happen to anyone, you must have system requirements that are just good enough for the normal world, but not for Lion’s Arch. I have a normal laptop from 2010, and it runs just fine for me.

Any new system should be able to deal with it, or the problem lies with your network connection speed. I’d update either of those if I were you, or you can simply play on low graphics or change them before you go into Lion’s Arch.

Hope this helped,

It works perfectly IMO. The rotation I normally use is:

1. Shoot them with hip shot from max range
2. Use Net Shot to slow them down and get some more Hip shots in
3. When they get close, use Jump shot to get in behind them, dealing damage both when taking off, and landing
4. Immediately use Blunderbluss and then Overcharged Shot to get distance.
5. Continue shooting them with Hip Shot and Net Shot when possible until they die.

Edit: I’ve just tested it and Jump shot does have a sluggish feeling to it. They could certainly fix that IMO.

Great idea, but it can easily be avoided by bot makers. The problem is that once they figured out the counter-measures to botting, they can simply have a screen-reading bot click away the message once it pops up. It’s a no-good situation.

What I suggest instead is having your idea with the attack-able “chicken”, but instead have a picture letter puzzle, where you have to write in letters from a picture. This will stop bots IMO. They could have like 5 minutes to write in the puzzle or they would be logged off.

So you’re saying it’s better for the MMO forum to be cluttered with multi-threads, even if that topic has been put a lot of thought into? I’m talking about for example a story thread, where you post a fanfiction on maybe 1500 words, and then it gets discarded right away and there’s no way you’re allowed to re-bump it.

I hope you will reconsider this as it is useful on any forum, and it cannot be abused as much as you think, because one person can only bump ONE topic ONE time in 10 minutes, or we could even raise it to 20 minutes. I think the benefits of a bump button far outweighs the consequences in any type of forum.

skirge, the bump button has proven to be a successful feature on many other forums, and the way it is now, you could sit for 2 hours thinking and writing an awesome topic, only for it to be discarded in the first 2 minutes if you post at the wrong time.

Yes, people might think their own topics are important, and keep bumping them, but the real important threads will still be first because during those 10 minutes people can post on the topics they find important, bumping the important threads first on the list.

Do we want a bump button?

Suggestion title: Add a bump button

Brief description: Add a button on the toolbar of our own threads, where we can basically bump the thread to the top of the first page. Can only bump one thread every 10 minutes.

Explanation:
This addition to the forums is a well-known one throughout professional, well-established forums because it allows well-thought-out topics to be seen, and people who care about their topic will keep bumping, while people who don’t really care can let it go.

How it will work:
You can bump one thread every 10 minutes. When you click the bump button, the thread will appear on top of the first page of the corresponding sub-forum.

First and foremost this idea will help people post their topic in peak-hours, where the overflow of new threads will push their thread far down, and as most people generally only view the first page, will help them getting their thread read.

Question: Where do I post issues I have with moderation on the forums?

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: Capn Evan.4586

Capn Evan.4586

So, I just made a thread about strict moderation on the forums, and it seemed to have vanished into thin air, no explanation or anything. I find this really insulting and leads me to believe that moderators on GW2 forums are using their power to never be able to be questioned.

Up until now I’ve posted 4 posts that have been removed by moderators in different topics, all that which would not have been removed in any other forum I’ve been to. I’ve sent in queries to the appropriate e-mail tons of times, but have never received a response.

So what is the deal here, I’d really like a response on why my posts were removed, I don’t feel like posting anything on these forums anymore since it’s all being removed.

The most common reason being “not contributing to the topic” which is a lie.

I hope this gets resolved soon, or I will just stop using the GW2 forums altogether (as if anyone would care either way..)

I think *someone* needs a change of underwear...!

in Suggestions

Posted by: Capn Evan.4586

Capn Evan.4586

Pretty much the idea I’m hinting at in the title is that we need to be able to change the style of our underwear. When I say it like this, you may look on me like some dirty pig sitting all day on my computer changing human female underwear. Well, this is not true, and I will explain how I want this change to occur.

I find it generally unappealing to the artwork, that it’s not possible to change your underwear. Some may argue that you’re not supposed to run around in underwear, but in armor, and that is correct to some extent. However, the fact is also true that broken equipment will eventually reveal your underwear if you break it.

First of all, guys need the ability to get a shirt underneath their armor. Also the color and the design of the underwear should be changeable, this needs to be done for all races in my opinion.

Second of all, girl underwear should be possible to exchange for something a little less revealing for women if they prefer. Something more like female Asura.

I’m not that good at formulating threads, but I’m sure you get the general pictures I’m trying to make here.

Seems like a good idea?

What I would like to see more of, perhaps in the later zones, since I agree they’re a bit tame in originality compared to the starter zones, they could add content that was completely unrelated to combat, so we could get some change.

Runescape is a good example of a successful MMO that wasn’t all about combat. What I would like to see is more skill-based activities unrelated to combat, but in a less grind-ish way than Runescape. More dynamic.

How much xp: 1-80?

The aim from the devs point of view was to have you level faster 1-15 than the rest of the levels.

They wanted levels 15-80 to take 60 – 90 minutes each.

I’d use that as a daily play guide, aiming for solid levels rather than xp amount as someone stated earlier xp scales with your level.

starting out 347,140xp will take more time per day at low levels than it would to get the same amount at later levels

That is, assuming I divide all the xp equally between every day, which I won’t. Thanks anyway

Is Guild Wars 2 too combat-oriented?

Hear me out, because I already know what some of you want to tell me; that Guild Wars 2 is called so for a reason. Although I’ve played other MMO’s that are generally about fighting, I think Guild Wars 2 has potential to become so much more, so hear me out.

Main discussion
So it came to my attention that when I first started playing, everything seemed to revolve around fighting. Well, almost everything, it was still possible to feed cows or solve Raven riddles, which is good, but I quickly noticed that every single task involved some sort of fighting, which I now ended up finding tedious and repetitive, which is far from what I hope ArenaNet aimed for when they made such a diverse and fun MMO with such an unique aspect.

What I think, is there should be more activities involving completely different things than killing; honestly, you get tired of it, and today you just don’t play Guild Wars 2 if you don’t want to kill stuff.

What I suggest is new forms of playing, like fishing for instance, a mechanic that can get huge in this game. The reason is it can be made more interactive than other game’s fishing, like Runescape for instance, and who wouldn’t love to throw out their fishing rod and use your fishing technique to reel a huge one? With the pick up objects and gain new abilities system, you can even make a whole skillset based on fishing. It could work like moving resource nodes perhaps, so you’d not stay fishing all day, but actually had to search for the fish, actively exploring more terrain and introducing fishing guilds that helped people find fishing spots.

Another mechanic I thought of is golemcrafting. Now I know this is the area of the most genius of Asura, but what if you introduced a workshop where you help an Asura build a golem, and you get to design it and play around with it afterwards. This can be a really fun experience IMO, and will give every race a reason to go to Rata Sum.

If you can think of anything more, or have any questions or critics, spill it I’m here to read your opinion, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t post

Thanks for reading! ^^

Instead of going off-topic answering my bump, why don’t you instead make an attempt to comment on the topic at hand?

To answer the question: Adding up the values on the table here, I came up with the answer 4,859,959. This means in two weeks (14 days), you’d have to earn 347,140 exp/day to reach 80; for a month (30 days), 161,999 exp/day is necessary.

Thank you very much

Intro:
When do you get the chance to be a true hero? How often do you stumble upon a quest that will make the hairs on your back stand up and stay there? Gathering Yeti fur? Too ordinary. Centaur attack? Daily business. How about something truly remarkable, something you can tell about to your friends. Now that’s something you don’t hear about every day! I’m talking about legendary stories about heroes who meet with truly remarkable sights that will make your heart pump faster.

Golden Fairy:
If you in your travels happen to see a golden fairy fly over your head, you’re sure to witness something amazing. This golden fairy flies fast, and don’t keep to one specific area like normal dynamic events. Eventually, it will stop, and you’ll be able to talk to it for a very short amount of time. Who knows what this magical being will bestow on you? The only way to find out is to follow it.

Details: There will be no indication on the map that there’s a golden fairy nearby, but you can see it pretty clearly if it flies by, as it’s golden, after all. It leaves a slight trail of golden particles that sparkles and lets out a tiny waving sound as if hit by a magic wave.

Rewards: The rewards are random, but there will be a bunch of xp and a decent amount of gold involved, because of the rarity of the critter, and the difficulty of following it.

Northern lights:
Travelling north of the Shiverpeak mountains, you might be lucky to see that there is a mystical light that shines dimly through a snowcovered landscape. The Norn think of this sight as all the animal spirits’ souls gratitude being shown on the winter sky. While the northern light is shimmering, you can be as lucky as to meet the animal spirits themselves. If you can find them, they will offer their gratitude by giving you of their riches and wisdom.

The northern lights indicate that the animal spirits are available in the Norn region. Not all of them, but some might be found by travelling around Norn country. A tip to find them is to search far away from other people, as they hate crowded places.

Rewards: The rewards can consist of sigils, xp or gold, to speed boosts, strength boosts or other useful long-lasting boons.

If anyone has more ideas for legendary dynamic events, go ahead! Mysticism will enter Tyria and make the game hundred times more exiting to explore.
