Engineer could probably be one of the best chasers solely due to Magnet Pull > 100nades combo.

Granted they don’t nerf 100nades though.

Well If you want to use it during a figh, you can’t do it without setup.

1- Net short -> Jump shot
2- Stability overcharged shot -> Jumpshot
3- Supply crate -> Jumpshot
4- People rezzing an ennemy? Come form behind -> Jumpshot -> 100nade combo
5- downed player -> Jumpshot.

Without setup, it’s so annoying to land it on someone. But if you land it both the jump and the stomp, it’s hurt a looot.

1. Probably the easiest way to combo with it, but requires a net shot at point blank range, at which point if your playing 100nades you should be going straight into that giving them less time to react with condition removal.

2. Only plausible if you hit them with overcharged shot at point blank usually by the time you cast this reach them and perform jump shot in there face they would have recovered from the stun.

3. Another good one, but I tend to save SK for team fights where making yourself completely vulnerable for 1-2 seconds (In case you miss someone with SK.) seems like a real risk to take.

4. Not gonna argue here, this is why you can’t underestimate an engineer in SPvP stand still and he will mess you up.

5. This one depends if I’m trying to down them with F, I’ll cancel it just to finish them quicker otherwise it’s pretty effective here.

Even with setup half the time I just don’t want to use it solely for how vulnerable it makes you and in 2v1 I will never use it (Unless with the trick to run away.)

This is useful to escape ennemy, and make your traveling a bit faster.

Once you start using it, you can’t stop

Totally, being honest more often than not I perform the trick, Jump Shot causes a red circle which gives you easily enough time to react to it and dodge so trying to actually hit anyone with the stomp is painfully difficult unless there immobilized in which case there are a lot of other things I’d rather be doing if I land a net shot in PvP.

Well a shorter ranged version anyway.

Note : You must be using a kit (any will do) for this to work.

One of the biggest complaints I hear about Jump Shot is the fact that it has a long stomp animation which is both incredibly easy to dodge and makes the move useless when trying to run away as it basically immobilizes you for 1 second at the target location.

It is however possible to cancel the stomp animation basically allowing you to move as soon as you reach where you targeted (You loose the end stomp if you do this.)
This is performed by:

Using Jump Shot.
Immediately switch to any kit.
Immediately drop the kit using the Weapon Swap button you will still be in the kit but your free to move around again.

What this does is that while you are in the air from Jump Shot it will cancel the animation which means that you will have your air momentum carry on and you will be able to freely move as soon as you reach your destination basically making it like ride the lightning with no end animation. (How the skill should be!)

How and Why does this work you may ask:
All animations in this game can usually be cancelled by dodging or pressing the escape key however unlike most moves in the game Jump Shot puts you into the air and you can’t dodge or move in the air. Other professions have this problem too most noticeably is the rangers final hit in the sword auto attack chain (Which sees a lot of complaints for this reason) Warrior Axe F1, Guardian Hammer 2 and a whole bunch of other moves also suffer from this as well.

However Weapon Swapping cancels all moves even if you are in the air because the game tells itself
“This person is no longer using this weapon, check for any current animations and cancel them”
Dropping Kits counts as a weapon swap so Jump Shots animation cancels when you drop a kit in mid-air.
This also works with Acid Bomb (Elixir Gun #4)

TL:DR
Use Jump Shot
Switch To Kit
Drop Kit with the ` key or whatever you use for your Weapon Swap Keybind

Shortcomings of the Engineer

Some stuff that annoys me about my engineer;

Jump Shot has a red circle making it way way too easy to dodge and ~1 second landing time. Ride the Lightning causes a knockback has no stomp animation and doesn’t cause a red circle, sounds fair.

A Mesmer clone is a Phantasm which remember isn’t actually supposed to exist I throw a hook at a Mesmer capping me for the kill to find one of his clones eating it instead despite me targeting him.
An Engineer turret (I Ran a SD build a PVP, I tried this with Rifle Turret once, don’t judge me for using a turret OKAY?) when placed to attempt to reproduce said example above doesn’t work. All ranged attacks pierce turrets.

To reitarate.
Metal – Can’t Stop a shot from a pistol.
Illusions – Can Block Missiles

Also Tool Kit
Whack – AoE Cleaves
Smack – AoE Cleaves
Thwack – Doesn’t AoE Cleave

You can whack a few dudes, you can smack a few dudes, but don’t try to Thwack em, that’ll lower your DPS…

PvP I’d say is fine, SD/100nades/Dual Pistol Conditions are very powerful offensive speccs due to Burst Potential and our defencive ones are strong due to Knockdown/Survivabillity Cooldowns.

For Dungeons however I’m in desperate need of a better Auto-attack Which isn’t grenades because they are difficult to use on anything that moves. Better support options are needed as well for example tossing elixirs are incredibly weak when compared to Guardian Virtues, Virtues which don’t use Casting Times Stronger and easier to use than a majority of our shorter cooldown Toss Elixir. (Elixir B which for the record is probably one of the worst moves in the game, Elixir C) The same goes for shouts as well, they are AoE but most importantly do not have Cast times and spread outwards from the player.

Also Supply Crate which for the record is pretty much our only usable Elite skill, Elixir X I cant always get to turn me into a tornado and Mortar is just horrible. Only fills the AoE Trash Mob Pack got awkward Niche.

Static Discharge Build: ZAP UR DED

You say it’s not worth using Rifle Turret at all, but It does have one use; you can place it down before running in to your next opponent and double tap to detonate it and fire a Surprise Shot basically giving you a free Static Discharge Proc.

You also can use Jump Shot cancel to move around this build which is a great help to this build as it greatly increases mobility; Which can be performed by using Jump Shot, switching to Med-Kit mid-flight and before landing again using tilde key or whatever you use to drop the kit doing this will cancel the ending animation of jump shot which can be very useful for chasing people down or running away two things you will often have to do with this build.

Transmutation stones: Endless or Tradeable

I wouldn’t mind a Mystic Forge Recipe to upgrade Basic Transmutation Stones into Fine ones (As players tend to get ALOT of Basic Transmutation Stones which only serve to eat bank space at the moment.)

Something Like
50 Basic Stones + Any Booster + Fine Transmutation Stone + Philosipher’s Stone = 5 Fine Transmuation Stones

(Similar to upgrading a T5 Material to T6)

I would add a line to the Grappling Hook “If this attack does not hit a target you will be flung to the end of the Grappling Hook”. (Followed by a 1-second stun like overcharged shot.)
I can just imagine a downed engineer flying across the battlefield on the back of a grappling hook to be somewhat comical and be in theme with the class.

At the moment we die to any “Your dead now” move, this will answer a few of them while not giving us a guaranteed out which just for the record nobody should have.

The problem with the Moa Elite, is that the Moa is completely useless in all regards, I know that’s the point but pressing any attack button will guarantee you your death as your not running away. It’s a Moa for goodness sake make it faster and have more “Run Away” buttons at the very least give it a small heal.

It’s the reverse issue of 90% of the game’s transformation elites being awful just ask any warrior about Juggernaut or any engineer about Elixir X.

Dont nerf Mesmer, Buff Moa.

Some things to add;

It’s a very good Idea to bring some Boon Removal for the Risen King, the amount of people who kill themselves solely because of his retaliation buff can really slow the group down.

Also make sure you have someone dedicated to taking out the Catapults at the top of stairs as it can make life hell for the people fighting the huge swarms of undead nearby.
