Hi there. As you can see on my threads\posts history you can see that I’m not that much active on the forums BUT I’m a really big GW and GW2 lover.
A few weeks ago my PC stopped working and so I had to spend some money fixing it (motherboard issue). Of course I had to wait untill payday because I had no money, so I was PC-less for around 2 weeks.
In that time I played with my PS4. Actually, I mostly use my PC to play GW2, almost nothing else.
And that leads me to my second issue: my PC isn’t good enough for GW2. I think that the bottleneck is my graphics board (AMD R7 265). I bought this PC to play GW2 (and other stuff like work, etc), but then HoT came out and my medium framerate lowered from 45 (wasnt that good to begin with lol) to 30-40 and lot’s of times below 30.
Unfortunately I don’t really have the time nor money to keep up with PC advancements. I can’t keep myself up to date.
Other MMORPGs are already out on consoles: Final Fantasy XIV, Neverwinter Nights, DC Universe Online, etc. Most of them follow the F2P path.
Are there any plans to port GW2 to home consoles? Like the PS4 or Xbox One? I would gladly double dip if that was the case.
Well, I have no opinion since I still haven’t bought Hot (no Money… :| ), but as soon as I can I’m buying it.
I’m a hardcore fan of Guild Wars. Fan, not player. Unfortunately I lack the time to play more
I consider GW1 the best MMO ever, read the novels, love GW2 and time by time I still login to GW1 to do some kind of reminscence.
GW2 has it’s flaws, just as GW1 had, and I bet that HoT also has some. There are still things that I want to see (more solo content – specially dungeons – , more skills to diversify different builds, etc) but so far the game is great!
What I would like to know, from a DEV point of view, is how successful is HoT and GW2 in general.
I don’t know what is currently the status of the game, and if it’s being profitable enough that justifies new content in the future.
Is it still going strong? What are the plans for the future? HoT is out, so what now?
Wait, Dungeons are soloable?? The current Dungeons, Story and Explore modes?
It was an amazing game.
Since GW2 launched we’ve seen a high decrease in the number of players online, but since you can build a party of NPCs it’s not a dealbreaker.
It has a great lore, great storyline, the skill system is amazing and the graphics are…well, 2005 lol
It plays VERY differently from GW2 but the tie-ins, in my opinion, are totally worth it.
Currently tried to convince my brother to buy the full game (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, EoTN) since he only played GW2. Will help him finish everything, so I’m kind of anxious to replay it!
Everyone is corruptible.
We saw Humans and Charr becoming crystal menaces with the rise of Kralkatorrik.
We saw our fallen ones becoming minions of the fallen Zaithan.
Always have the Sylvari fight beside us. Yes they are young and many times naive, but they have great learning skills and have shown amazing fighting skills and companionship.
We have great examples like Caithe, who fought besides Glintt while Logan Thackeray abandoned his friends, or the Necromancer Killen that died with honor instead of becoming a traitor like Riona, a human.
Even the Charr fought beside us, after years of war between them and us Humans.
As long as we have a common threat, I will fight beside any race and against all foes.

Season 1 Question:
So I’ve never been able to play trough Season 1 of the Living Story because I had to sell my PC to pay for studies and went without it for about 1 year or so.
Is there ever going to be any way to play it? Like Season 2? Even if I have to buy it!
Season 3 Question:
Will there be a Season 3? :P
So I’m reading all 3 Guild Wars novels, currently at the middle of Edge of Destiny.
One thing that got me thinking.
In Ghosts of Ascalon the main characters have a lot of trouble leading a Charr inside a human citadel.
Now, I don’t know if anything happens to reach peace between Charr and Humans, but shouldn’t Charr be forbidden inside human towns?
Did anything change? Don’t tell me what, just “yes” or “no” :P
But is there anything oficial?
Hi there,
I was just wondering.
I hear a lot that Guild Wars 2 isn’t very CPU optimized specially regarding to multi-core CPUs.
Are there any optimization plans in the short or long term?
And more specifically (since I have an AMD FX 8350 with an AMD R7 265) any Mantle or any other techs to be compatible with GW2?
Here is some info when the stutter spikes happen!
The HDD is 100%, the RAM is 95%.
The CPU is at 44% with only 56º temperature.
Ok, so I have a low-budget computer:
CPU: AMD FX-8350
RAM: 4GB DDR3
GRAPHICS: AMD R7 265
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm
MOBO: ASRock 970 Pro3 2.0
I have a very good, better than I expected, performance in almost every game I play.
I run Alien Isolation with highest settings flawlessly, BF4 likewise, Dragon Age Inquisition the same.
The only issue I’ve noticed is in Guild Wars 2 is an annoying stutter.
For example: I’m playing GW2, all MAX, 40-60fps. Suddenly there is this stutter that lasts for
some seconds, then it all goes back to normal. I’m running down some hill, killing mobs with 10-20 people around me, all fine and fluid. Suddenly, stutter!
Fighting Claw of Jormag, which is probably the most intense fight I’ve been in, the game stutters to 1fps, then back to normal (in this fight I usually get around 30fps), than stutters, all thins in…what, 30s-1m intervals.
Is this ram wise? Is it the AMD CPU bottlenecking the system?
1) Weapon Skills – Fixed weapon skills are not fun! Please, more Weapon skills that we can select, so we have more different builds
2) Mini-Games – Where are they? Where is Polymock??
3) PvE Duel System – Nothing wrong challenging other players to some Duel, right?
4) More PvE content – More is better, right? Even more lore, Dungeons, etc!
5) Soloable Dungeons – Just like the Pre-Searing Catacombs in GW1
6) Guild Wars 1 Mission Style – Missions with Secondary Objectives.
7) Build Template Saver – Just like in GW1
8) More skills!
9) Optimization – Please optimize the game! I want to be able to get 60fps locked with my computer!

Is this enough to run GW2 confortably?
Hello!
So I have a:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Dual Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT
2gb ram
What kind of upgrade should I look into in order to run GW2 decently?
Totally agreed! Having the weapon skills customizable would bring a new depth to the game!
Also, Elites and Signets of Capture!
While I do LOVE Guild Wars 2, some stuff that was present in Guild Wars 1, and that I bet it would level the game to higher standards, really is missing:
1 – Builds and Skills: I literally have dozens of builds for my warrior in GW1. GW2 would benefit with a system similar.
2 – Missions and Storyline: Both the missions structure AND the storyline telling in GW1 was vastly superior to GW2.
3 – Special Mobs: Is it colored?! Gotta grab a Signet of Capture, an Elite is waiting for me!! And so on :P
4 – Variety of items: I had a huge collection of different Swords. Though this might be because GW2 is still new and fresh!
5 – Henchs & Heroes: While I don’t mean having a group of NPC’s following me, I remember that ANet talked about a companion system and later decided not to use it. I’d love to have a companion, not human but an animal, to help me fight. Although I can see the issue here, pets would prolly become obsolete.
And…that’s it lol Solve these issues and GW2 becomes instantly…even more amazing that it already is :P
Nice! Thanks for the answers! So for new content is that map n PvP, the Fractals dungeon and the new island?
I didnt have any time to enter this weekend event, so if anywone would be so kind to detail me what exactly happened…:P
Howdy,
I know a lot of requests for 1on1 duels are made (one of which is mine!), but what about 1on1 Arena?
Just like the sPvP arenas we see, only for 1on1 action?
There could be tournaments, etc, and the best weekly/monthly player would receive a title until someone would defeat him!
This would be great! Players from around the world fighting to be the very best!
What a surprise! They DO care about us players! C’mon, maybe know everyone should rest a bit and just wait for things to happen.
It seems great that ANet is worried about the player base and already releasing such a huge update like this one!
I just hope for some Pre-Searing Catacombs!! This might be the long awaited day!
Don’t know if this is already posted elsewhere:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/leah-rivera-on-the-new-fractals-of-the-mist-dungeon/
This dungeon is unlike anything you’ve played in Guild Wars 2. It’s built of an array of mini-dungeons, which we call fractals. These fractals are slices of the Mists, fragments of time that have been stabilized by the intrepid asura researcher Dessa. Some of these vignettes from history may be familiar to original Guild Wars players, while others will represent previously unseen events. Because of their eclectic origin, each fractal is built as a distinct, separate experience with themes, mechanics, and art specific to that fractal.
You access the Fractals of the Mist by gathering your party of five in Lion’s Arch and entering a new asura gate (seen below).
Unlike the other dungeons, your party can be any level. We’ve employed World vs. World-style sidekicking to make this dungeon accessible to all players. But keep in mind, our aim was to challenge level 80 players. Going in at low levels is not for the faint of heart!
Once you enter the portal you’ll be taken to the Mistlock Observatory, a safe haven created by Dessa within the Mists. From there you’ll start your first round of fractals. You’ll be sent to three randomly chosen destinations and once you’ve vanquished all three of these fractals, you’ll be brought back to the Mistlock Observatory hub to rest and regroup. On top of that, every other round before you return to the hub you’ll be faced with a bonus “boss fractal.” Here, you will face an encounter akin to our big world bosses!
Seems simple, right? Well, there’s one last mechanic that makes this dungeon unique.
To make Fractals of the Mist even more challenging, every time you re-visit the hub, the dungeon scales up in difficulty. That’s right, a scaling dungeon! The dungeon will remember your progress, and will poll the party’s levels when you enter, scaling the dungeon to the highest common attained level. It’s a true challenge, but as you hit higher and higher scales, the dungeon will get more and more rewarding. You’ll have to have some serious skills and solid tactics to make it through these Fractals. After a certain point, our new Ascended items and Infusions become crucial tools for survival.
This sounds freaking AMAZING!
I can’t agree with this one! Just like Missions in GW1, Dungeons are supposed to be party “areas”. We already have most of the map that is easily soloable (at least until level 56, where I stand at the moment).
On the other hand, I think ANet should add MORE party required areas!
I can’t quote because of some network limitations that don’t let me see images (and the quote button is an image, so… :P) but to those referring to helping other players: that’s one of the best things, makes me feel like I’m really in a large community. Every time I reach an obstacle I start asking for help. The first time this happened was with a Champion Troll (I think) in some caves in Queensdale. I was playing with a mate, and got beat up by that kitten. Then another player appeared, and another, and yet another! Soon we were dozens just torturing that son of a troll! First time I’ve seen something like that happen in a long time!
Maybe it’s just me, I came from Ultima Online (alongside other MMORPGs of course, but UO was one of my BIG 3 – UO, Guild Wars, Lineage 2) so player interaction was one of the things I most appreciated in a MMORPG. In Lineage 2 we only saw players killing mobs, all over again. In GW (and mind you, I love that game with all my heart) we were limited to instances. In UO anything could happen! It was a really truly living world! Playing GW2, finding myself in an ambush or dangerous event, watching other players arriving to help…just brings me back to those good old UO times!
As for the new gear and stuff, honestly I can’t say I understand all the negative behavior round it! It’s still optional (although it seems that new dungeon requires new gear, or something) and I even haven’t done one single Dungeon (yeah, even AC!) so this must be my casual side speaking lol :P But it really doesn’t seem like a bad thing! New gear, new dungeon, new mechanics!
Again, this is just my humble opinion, and I’m a casual player, so I’m not trying to turn down every hardcore unpleased gamer!
Totally agreed. I hardly have time to log on every time, let alone 2 hours per day!
Hehe, nice to see more happy people :P We need more threads like this one lol
Well thanks JDKenada! Yes, I understand what Avatar is saying. If I came here thinking that this was a WoW clone I myself would leave very very disappointed. But that’s the thing, players both criticize that model while at the same time they don’t really know how to “live” with a different model.
Which is normal really, we have been presented with this way of playing MMORPGs for so long, it’s hard to quit the old habits. It’s like learning to drive with a joystick instead of driving with a driving wheel lol. But this really couldn’t be avoided!
I think that ANet took knowledge of that and is now trying to please both worlds, introducing new gear and new zones. Let’s see how they fair on that, but the time I will take to reach that level is going to be years from now or something :P
Avatar (first of, is your name Avatar from Ultima series or from the movie? :P), I totally understand what you are saying, and I can’t disagree with you simply because I don’t have the arguments to do it. Like I said, I can only play for some hours per month (really, I must have only played for like 5-10 hours this month, IF!) so I can’t say I’m one of the unpleased hardcore players.
But we all knew that we weren’t being presented with another WoW clone, rather than a different take in direction of general MMORPG gaming. This game is supposed to be played differently, specially in the social aspect of it (in my opinion).
Like mentioned, I take extreme pleasure in helping players in need, conquering events and exploring each area to 100%. When I’m done with it, I don’t really know what I will be doing, but ANet seems to be adding new stuff and the game as only been out for what…nearly 3 months? It’s a MMORPG without any subscription fee and we are having new content already!
This is not a rant against angry players. Everyone has their reasons to be mad. This is just me trying to share my great experiences with the game, rather than finding more and more stuff to be annoyed with!
Ah yes, totally forgot about the first Jumping Puzzle I did! It was last Friday, in Lions Arch.
A friend of mine already had done it and wanted to show me. It involved following a ghost around while we went trough fake walls and such! It was HILARIOUS and amazing at the same time lol
I kept laughing a lot specially every time I fell from some rocks!
Good to see other players that share my feelings! I kind of feel sad with so many negative threads, and yet every time I log in I get this feeling that something awesome is going to happen in-game, and that feeling never disappoints me!
I actually take joy in helping lower level players and wandering around in lower level areas! Think I totally get what ANet aimed for!
Oh right! Almost forgot!
TL;DR: This game is fabulous!
I don’t have much time to play these days. I’m currently finishing my studies while busting my brain working, and on weekends I spend my time with my family. So I’m probably the most casual player out there, since my only character is still at level 56 right now.
Anyway, yesterday I stayed home after work, and got some time so I spent around 1 hour playing GW2.
I decided to clear another area, since I’m trying to get 100% in the world map (crazy yes, but fun nevertheless) so I went to some part of Shiverpeaks which I don’t recall the name. I was just finishing Heart Quests, Vistas, etc, when I noticed someone downed. I promptly went there and revived him, and after being thank for it we proceeded to kill every single mob responsible for the guy’s death.
After clearing the area, we both parted ways as I went on with my quest to beat that area. Some minutes later I reached a small settlement that was being infested with IceWurms. I ran there to help the players, and what do you know, the same guy I helped before was there struggling to keep the Wurms at bay.
Once again we were victorious and thus the event ended. So we spotted a new event just south of this one, and proceeded there. Fairly easy, just killing a few Veteran guys, I though to myself “darn, this should be a bit harder” just as a new event triggered. Some Champion of something appeared and started performing some crazy ritual to summon an Ice Behemoth of some kind!
Of course we ended up falling back, two guys weren’t nearly enough for that! So I started asking for help in the map chat, and a lot of people appeared to assist us! Crazy visual effects, debris and wind everywhere and a freaking large ice something forming in the middle of the air! It was a crazy fight, killing ice golems, closing rifts and finishing the darn summoner!
Finally the fight was over, the huge chest appeared, everybody got their bounty and we sighed in relief.
I logged out, closed my computer and went to bed.
Guild Wars 2 is a great game. I can only play for some hours per MONTH, and yet each time I play I don’t feel I’ve been left behind or just missing my spot in the world because I don’t have much time to play.
Every time I play I get involved in some crazy event that makes the money I spent on the game darn worth it.
Thanks ANet, and keep on adding more and more stuff to make us gamers proud of you guys.
If this meant that GvG would be something like Airship vs Airship, I would pay extra money to have some air battles!
Or just bounties! Like Zaishen bounty quests in GW1, how about it?
I think it would be a welcome change, and it’s perfect for GW2 PvE system!

Narcemus – LOL that’s amazing! I think I heard something about that!
swarmofseals – Well, I’m usually busy in RL matters but if you want to you can PM me or add me in-game! I all into contribute!
Portuguese localization would be nice! Also, Portuguese servers!
I won’t say that GW2 is a step down from GW1 (combat wise), only the lack of diversity, because the rest (dodging, etc) is spot-on!
Indeed, that’s a really offensive name :| Amazing how ANet let’s that one trough!
Yes, a content add-in or something is very necessary at this point since a lot of players are loosing interest and NOT in the long run but also in the short run. I can’t speak for myself since I’m still at level 49 (don’t have much time to play daily) but I can understand all the flaws players are pointing.
ANet tried to make the game for appealing to the general public, different from other MMOs and also different from GW1, but that last part is what is making the difference between and epic game and a good game!
The one thing that I can complain about the battle system, really is the skills. Coming directly from GW1 where we had hundreds of skills and months of gathering resources to have them all in order to get unique and diverse builds, I already had mainly all basic skills after..well, a few hours of playing the game.
Why aren’t skills based around type of weapon AND model? Why don’t swords have different skills? Other than that, the combat system is great! But I think we are spoiled with the huge number of skills available in GW1 and ANet should have offered some more than they did.

Well, there are a bunch of camps in Tyria, like the Centaur camps etc. One could try and gather many people to “dominate” that camp and see if ANet would notice it!

Yes, but you have a small number of them, and they are very time waisting.
Missions usually took around 30m, while also requiring a party.

“Remember the GW1 “endgame”? GW1 max level was 20 and max stats gear was trivial. The “endgame” was to explore the world, get achievements, do Hard Mode versions of the regular content, do elite missons, get cool skins, engage in PvP.”
It all falls in place except the Missions. I think that the game needs Missions that are structured in the same way as GW1 Story Missions.

I played Ultima Online and as a fellow lover of that game I can only say…wow! That was amazing! I wasn’t aware of that kind of commitment from the Devs!
I think, in my opinion that GW2 has 2 major issues:
- Structure of the Personal Storyline
- Rewards after lvl 80
In GW1 we had Missions which required a 4-8 party to reach completion (either humans or henchmens, whatever). We had markers on the map which indicated in what Missions we performed well enough or completed secondary objectives to master it. In here we only follow each instance of story to it’s completion, alone OR in a party. No secondary objectives, nada!
Maybe ANet should create secondary objectives on it, or just create something alongside the Missions in GW1. Less time consuming and hard than dungeons, but that would require a party unlike the Personal Storyline. These Missions would include…maybe bits of lore!
Also, the only flaw I get from people that reached lvl 80 is the rewards. Seems like Orr is the only place that satisfies their needs on that regards. Maybe raising up the Exp and Gold gained in every area of the World Map so that people would have incentive to gather in other areas other than Orr.
Just Right click on a user, “Duel”, he either accepts or denies that request! Also, let me disable or enable my availability to duel!
Agree with the reward system. ANet says that “end-game” starts in level 1, but why should a character in level 80 go trough areas 30-60 if there is no reward except gold and experience?
Well, it’s really hard to make those changes you refer to, since it’s an open world.
But what I take from mainly everyone is that there is little to no real reward on completing the Personal Storyline.
I’m still at level 49, going to check the sewers, but I can understand that. In GW1 we had titles to show that we completed every Story Mission, visual indicators of that in the World Map, and loot that could only be gained trough beating the last Mission.
I don’t know if the loot in the end is rewarding enough, but something like titles would be very welcome!
Anyway, let’s see how ANet responds to that :P
I still haven’t reached that mission (still level 49), but I think that ANet should include 2 or 3 missions regarding Zaithan itself, where in the end he would wipe dozens of soldiers, in a single breath!
That way the final battle would be more anticipated!
