Please take distance out of formula for boons

Charname.2364

The assumption being made here is that players get mad at ranged because they don’t provide boons to the stack and that removing this would let players stay at range while still being helpful to the stack. But the one issue i still see with this is that, as far as stacking goes, of far greater importance seems to be the ability to group up your enemies.
Regardless of how much dps and boons you’re bringing, as long as you provide the possibility for enemies to scatter, people will still hate you for ranging.

I’ve never been kicked from a group under shady circumstances so i don’t have that well of rage to tap into but i do agree that there should be some safeguards against such griefing. The thing is having them in the beginning would be hard to implement. If the griefer is determined then he’ll just wait out the minute. If you increase the time then you have to deal with people going afk at the entrance. Far better to simply have a players name pop up in your chat as they join. “Player Blahblah joined the group” That will give you the info you need to add them to a list.

Far more important is having a safeguard against kicking at the end. Something like… Can’t initiate a kick during combat… So you don’t get tossed at final 10% of boss so they can bring in a guildie.

Character Scaling - Event Scaling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Charname.2364

Charname.2364

I can’t speak for anybody else here but when i go to lower level zones i do feel kinda weird about participating in low level events. On the other hand I do enjoy the ability to quickly cleave my way through lonely mobs that are in the way of whatever reason I am there for and would hate to essentially have to re-struggle my way through zones i already completed.
Now I’m just spit balling here but maybe instead of punishing end game players for revisiting zones through harsher down leveling…we could instead reward lower level players in events that attract level 80s.

Here’s what I’m saying… Whenever an 80 participates in a low level event he gives out a buff to allies in that event. Something like a small increase to xp gained for all present or maybe all allies in the area get a small boost to THEIR stats instead.
Add to that event scaling like more veterans and having an 80 or two in a level 20 event won’t be viewed as an annoyance for people of that level range but instead as something to look forward to maybe?

State of the Pugging Address

I have been pugging dungeons since i started playing this game with a 6 month break that ended about 2 months ago. Comparing my experiences now versus what I had before the break I would say I am having smoother runs now 4 out of 5 times. What I am seeing is unorganized people stacking in the right places pretty much all the time. The problem however is many people don’t know WHY they stack there. It’s all autopilot and when the stack fails it usually leads to a full wipe.
As an example I’ll use SE p1. Pretty much everytime my group will stack the corner on the 3 golems. Unfortunately sometimes the group will lack enough dps/reflections to pull this of and people will basically stay in there till the last man goes down. Again we know where to go, just not why we go there and I think that’s a large part of why some pugs fail so miserably.
As for the the degradation of pug mentality…I blame megaservers and Obama. When you know that the chances of ever encountering that one guy you’re about to kick are nil… well…

Race Makeover Kit

I would be happy with a level 80 bump item like those level 20 birthday gift scrolls.

  • If you delete a level 80 character you get one level 80 scroll that can be redeemed on a similar class.

I acknowledge that I made a mistake when I chose my race and therefore I am willing to go through all the content again. As long as I get to do it as a level 80. Because all Im changing is my race and having to go from 1-80 as a warrior after going from 1-80 as a warrior is repetative even by gw2 standards.

i was full endgame gear and i had no reason to farm all those lfg dungeons for any gear only 1 reason i am doing them is to get “skin armor” set and thats only cosmetic..

That’s actually a pretty good answer as to why people tend to “rush” in dungeons op. Now I’m not a speed clearer. I don’t join fast groups and I’m not one of those 5000+ runs people but I do see why they want to skip trash and kill as fast as possible. Because there’s no reason not to tbh. Once, twice, ten times sure, I’ll kill the trash just to experience the dungeon fully, but I run CoF daily and I already have my aesthetics covered. I do it for the gold and the tokens. Do I really want to kill the silvers on the p1 bridge every time? Hell no. Even though in that example skipping them saves me like… 15 seconds… there is no tangible reason to kill them. They drop diddly and they break agro. Same for the bosses. It’s good to learn the mechanics and blah blah but again…how much is too much?
Kill it. Teabag it. Move on.

Best looking thief race?

Human norn. Bearded. Tall as you can make him. Nothing will ever match up to 400 pounds of viking rage spinning through the air with a pair of cheese knives.
Personally I went with asura and my two complaints are:
1) The class just doesn’t fit their stories
2) Any effort you put into your armor will only ever be 1/4 as noticeable as the other races.
Seriously. Nothing says stealth like norn.

While strolling though the fields one day
In the merry merry month of May
I was taken by surprise
By a pair of buggy eyes
I was scared but didnt run awaaaahhhmygodKILLIT!! (Picture #1)

Upon discovering these precious Jesus juice fields overrun by parasites of the non child variety I decided to make my way to the manor of these lands to educate the lord on the proper care and tending of his crops. having made my way through a bunch of raggedy looking loiterers and into what was clearly meant as a house of overcompensation (Picture #2), I decided to sample the selection of fire water offered by this fool of a host and to grace the guests with my charm. It did not go so well. (Picture #3) Oh well, when in doubt drink it out. Having had my fill and pocketing many a bottle I decided to go tell the host how much I loved him. I mean really…hic…really loved him man. Like a brother you know? Though I was led unerringly by the powers of my vodka vision I was interrupted by party crashers! (Picture #4) Probably some of those lower caste people I though to myself.

So I says “Look you filfffy metallic peasa*hic*…peasant…haw darsz…have you….WHEREZZZ MY HORSH YOU FOOL!!! I think I parked it in my other pantsz…pffffhahahahaha!!!”

And the ungrateful sod had the gall to attack me! Well I was having none of that so with banner and blade and a cry of “For Grape Juice!” I sprang into a…rock. (Picture #5) Then, having picked myself up I sprang again! I was doing fine till the curr began to cheat. You see at first he was alone. Then he became two people, then three and then back to one again! And he made everything spin… Then for some reason there was that abominable rock again (Picture #6) My unworthy oponents may have gotten in a few good hits but I got as good as they gave Ill have you know. Feeling I had made my point, I decided to lay down for a bit. (Picture #7)

And that’s how I lost my horse. True story. Scouts honor. (Picture #8))

Sooo…if someone was interested in purchasing one of these arah runs but had not done so before… what would be the procedure/etiquette?

Just find a proper listing and message in game?

When should payment be exchanged? Prior to joining or once it’s established it’s not some jerk standing just inside the instance?

Is there a wait time involved? Do they usually wait for a full party?

What if completion isn’t made? Is there a refund?

Just simple questions like that for anybody who has a minute and the know how.

Hello,
I’ve been away from gw2 for a good 6 months or so until recently a friend managed to get me back in. He’s a flake though so I’m all alone and half a year is long enough to forget a lot of things. Everything is new and scary again. I’m basically looking for a guild I can get back in the game with. Chill in the background a bit and read up on the chat to see whats where and maybe participate in your events eventually (If you still have them) after I figure out how to not die again. Would you guys be it?

Does my character look like Link? Be honest.

Any ideas how to improve the look? A GW2-equivalant of the Hylian shield?

Or is this impossible to do on a Heavy?

Super Shield skin from sab maybe?

Over the past month or so I have been experiencing gw2.exe crashes at random times. Usually it just throws me out of the game and gives me a crash report. This last time my headset began making a piercing screech and the game froze. All three times I cant use a web browser till I restart the pc because they crash as well.
- I have recently had my pc examined and it was reported that all the hardware was functioning properly.
- According to cpuid nothing is overheating.
- WhoCrashed does not generate a report for these.
- Fairly certain my drivers are as they should be.

Really have no idea what to do with this. Any advice would be appreciated.

Guys seems to have solved the problem by renaming the folder “Guildwars 2” put in documents, making it well create a new one. At the moment I have not crashed more.

Does this mean go into Documents and rename “Guild Wars 2” into “Guildwars 2” by simple leaving out the space or does it mean to rename “Guild Wars 2” into something completely different in Documents?

Why everyone wants to run instead of kill

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Charname.2364

Charname.2364

People who agree with you will do so because clearing everything everytime is what they consider fun. People who disagree with you will do so because quickly completing a dungeon for the reward is what they consider fun. Neither is correct/wrong. It’s just a difference in opinion (pie> cake). Stating that a dungeon was built to be run a certain way is correct only if all other ways are exploits. Having the ability to run through mobs which were designed to leash after a certain distance is not an exploit. To make sure you get a party you enjoy always list what you want through whatever lfg tool you are using. May take longer but you will find like minded people.
Thank you.

The only thing I can add to this is if you freak out about messing up and getting your party killed like I do, try looking up walkthroughs for the dungeon you are running. While it’s not the same as actually running said dungeon, it is easier to dodge something when you know what it looks like rather then just being told to dodge that one attack that will kill you. I believe there is a stickied thread here that lists walkthroughs for all the dungeons. You just have to make sure they are not outdated.

Seems to me that your problem does not deal with a lack of group support, as the standard AH build has a proper amount, but with a group made up of half-assing slackers. From personal experience on my guardian there is really no reason, save a few specific encounters that favor range, for anyone in the group to be so far from the fight that they dont benefit from your shouts.
The ranger plinking away from max bow range is now completely useless as the few group utilities they bring are too far to be any real help. The melee class you mentioned that goes ranged (warrior?) should put his head down in shame. If anybody else is going ranged, mesmer, ele, etc. to the point where they cant get your buffs then there is a good chance theyre not giving their buffs to others. Do what Dakotasbrant suggested with voice chat but use it to mock them for their cowardice instead.
As for switching to ranged yourself to bring your team buffs on a silver platter…well you cant ALL stay at range. Eventually the mobs will get near and then your group will scatter while trying to maintain their distance. This is all just my opinion though

Same problem, same error message. Oddly enough when it started for me it was only affecting my at&t connection. When I switched to my landlords comcast wifi I wasn’t having any connection issues no matter which zone i was in. That seems to have ended today though. Way to take a step back guys.

On a different note if i recall correctly Diablo 3 had a similar issue on launch. Play for a bit, lag, lose connection and receive error message. There was a bunch of finger pointed as to which end the problem was on. Then Bliz fixed it. Guess we now know.
