Ranger/Druid Avatar form bug

For me it only kicks me out if I left click on the CA form. Pressing F5 or any other keybind seems to work normally.

This is the same thing I’ve been experiencing. Click usually drops me right back out of avatar form, but F5 works normally.

Noticed this on my wife’s character also. I can use the pad in MM, but it tells her she needs to train basic gliding mastery (which she already has). Same thing at the Irwin Isle jump pad. Works for me, but not for her. I’ve trained all the way through ley line.

Mace/Axe: I actually liked this one the most. While some of the animations feel too long (burn field), I think its in a decent place as a condi set.

I agree. I keep trying to switch, but come back to this combo almost every time. The biggest issue I have is inconsistency on the #2 skill (Searing Fissure). I have seen it DoT on things outside the actual on-screen graphic, but then not hit things that the graphic shows going right under.

I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be limited to the displayed targeting graphic’s area or not, but it makes it hard to judge where to place yourself to attack.

I can second this. My wife and I are both seeing it. It also stays overlayed if you go to the map screen. Pressing escape in the map just makes it ‘flash’ downward and won’t let the map close via ESC.

As the poster above stated, if I WP or go to a different map, it clears.

Sabotage

in WvW

Posted by: ChrisP.4386

ChrisP.4386

I have yet to see Anet come out to say that Sabotage and Spies tactics are illegal.

They are unsavoury game tactics much like real world espionage. Spies get the death penalty for treason in many countries when caught by enemy but is not outlaw by Geneva Convention 1949 .

I think that is where the problem lies. There is no way to counter or “execute” a traitor/spy. Right now, it is a tactic with no consequences for the “bad” guys. The best you can do is attempt to rush yaks to bring in supply, but even than is capped by how fast the yaks move.

The biggest challenge is finding a way to allow a counter for it without opening up the door to griefing.

After many posts dating back to last year, there has still been no fix and (as far as my searching has revealed) no dev response to the issue with poorly rendered text in the Black Lion Trading Company when using a small UI setting.

It is a fundamental flaw which requires users to switch UI sizes whenever they want to use the BLTC if they normally run with the UI set to small.

There are many photo examples if you search for ‘small ui’ in the BLTC or bug forums.

Anet, are you aware of this issue and is it on anybody’s ‘to do’ list?

The Breached Wall is just too much

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ChrisP.4386

What I found annoying on breached wall was getting stuck in combat mode. You really need to be sure to kill anything that hits you on the way up. I found myself needing to kill something 2 levels down that hit me once but would not let me out of combat until it was dead. Other than that, BW was fairly easy to this 40+ yo.

I also hate that there is no reward for finishing all of the JPs. I was looking forward to a title or some goodies, but…nada. I did my last one and just kind of stood there dumbfounded for a bit that there was no indicator of any kind that I had just COMPLETED A HUGE PART OF THE FREAKIN’ GAME!

But I still love ’em all!

I have noticed an improvement in PvE drops from some events (got a rare from the Maw chest in Frostgorge), but their patch from last year which was supposed to ensure that Vets and Champs drop something worthwhile did not work. A can personally attest to many Champs and Vets dropping nothing. Zero, zilch, nada, nothing. There is definitely an issue in that aspect, even if the other is a ‘conspiracy.’

I also have (occasionally) gotten whites from the loot chests from mobs. Again…not working as intended.

IMHO, I think they need a weighted RNG, where every crap drop increases your starting seed so that you will eventually be almost guaranteed to get a good drop. It could then reset. You would always get a chance at a decent drop, but not relegated to RNG hell forever if you didn’t.

Interface Size -> Normal vs Small

ChrisP.4386

I agree with the bump on this, makes the small UI unusable unless you want to constantly switch back and forth.

Since everything else works fine w/ the small UI, I would guess that whoever coded this used a different font rendering method which is borking everything up. That may have an impact on how much of a problem it is to correct.

I’ve also noticed (not sure if it’s always been this way) that even with a salad wolf set to avoid combat, if I use F2 for the healing it will then go and attack anyway. There doesn’t seem to be a designation between offensive and support abilities.

I’d wager the skill, at its core, is the exact same as longbow’s #2, only with different duration, damage, and animation. Hence why it can be obstructed.

It’s lazy programming, basically.

Reusing code for multiple scenarios if often a function of efficiency, not laziness. If you do that, however, you have to be sure there are no unforeseen issues and adjust accordingly.

Targeting

in Ranger

Posted by: ChrisP.4386

ChrisP.4386

I think the biggest issue right now (at least for me) is the auto-target functionality. I have ‘C’ bound to closest enemy as it was in GW1, but that doesn’t help when you’re target dies and the next item up for bids gets targeted. (I know…stop spamming attacks, but in a mob sometimes I don’t realize my target is dead until I target a deer off to the right of me.)

Targeting

in Ranger

Posted by: ChrisP.4386

ChrisP.4386

I would say there there is never a logical reason to auto-target a non-hostile. Anet, feel free to explain the logic behind that to me, but I don’t see it. (Unless there is an underlying issue with how the game targeting makes the adjustment from non-hostile to hostile, but they do it with skill points and things going green/red.)

Please make ranger projectiles go a distance

in Ranger

A good default would be a shot that fires parallel to the terrain path in front of the ranger, but that might be difficult to pull off. That way you would fire slightly up or down on a slope to stay parallel to the ground rise/fall, or level if you’re standing on a flat patch of ground. It would have to be an option though, because of lot of rangers turn off auto-target and fire target-less to hit enemies on walls in WvW.

On a related note: Do bows get a range advantage when shooting from elevation? It looks to me that I don’t fire any farther standing up on a keep wall than I do standing on the ground.

I posted this on another similar thread…same issue. Determined buff and taking no damage. Finally gave up and left.

Request for Bot Reporting Procedure Sticky

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ChrisP.4386

ChrisP.4386

I would like one of the devs to consolidate the bot reporting procedure in a sticky for easy access. I’ve seen several good questions pop up and get answered, but you need to read 30 pages of text to get to them. The basics are:

- The basic method (i.e. click on a bot, right click on the image at the top of the screen and choose report). Believe it or not, I’ve seen this come as a surprise to some people in game chat.
- Do screen shots of bot packs help? I’ve heard yes and no.
- If there are a pack of bots running together, do we need to try to send them all in or can you find the rest if we give you one in the group?
- Is there a means of providing the common areas where bots run in each area for help in identifying the most popular spots for outbreaks?

Some of this info may help the community provide more concise info for you guys to get this under control. (My 2 cents…)

Thanks for all you do.

I have a similar issue which may or may not be related. I play on the right screen of a 2 monitor setup in full screen, non-windowed mode at 1920 × 1080 resolution. Every so often (usually at the worst possible time) it appears that the client allows my mouse to move outside the game window causing it to minimize.

I’m not sure which happens first. Seeing this post, it could be that the game is minimizing itself putting me back on the desktop vs. the mouse leaving the window and causing the minimize. It is such a simultaneous event, it is hard to tell. It almost always happens, however, when my mouse is at the far left of the screen about midway up. It is not repeatable that I can tell and appears to happen randomly.

Enemy leashing mechanics are annoying

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ChrisP.4386

Oh also enemies becoming invulnerable when they have no way to attack the player. Also very annoying. This should only apply to certain enemies, not the random easy ones out in the open world.

THIS -> Finding a safe spot to snipe from is called tactics.

I think it may apply to a path for melee attacks because things like devourers go invulnerable even tough I could swear they are hitting me with ranged attacks. (Maybe be imagining it though.)

Taking the higher ground to have an advantage over the enemy has been a tactic of warfare since there has been warfare…

Personal Story Difficulty Unacceptable

Mission: Mired deep Character: charr warrior lvl15

I’ts doable until the boss, the veteran skale bog, lvl 16 and the quest is lvl 14. I’ve tried every tactic possible, his regen just outheals any damage I can do. I have good gear, I’ve traited to maximize dps, tried to kill him faster then he regens, it’s impossible; tried to lure him back to the surface, won’t work thanks to euryale who for some reason stays in the middle of the pool, and doure doomsday who’s doing nothing, he’s not attacking or anything, just swims between me and euryale, waiting for the first to die to rez him. I’ve looked for guides, yes, they basically say out dps him or lure him to the surface.
I don’t really know what do next, I work for living so I can’t browse the web all the day to find advice, builds or whatever. I bought the game because I thought it suited casual play style, if it doesn’t, just say, I will move to other games. I don’t mind challenging games, but this is not challenging, it’s just frustrating to the point I’m not going to play the game further if it’s a mix of mindless easy gameplay and impossible missions. This really reminds me of GW1 in its earlier months, thunderhead keep anyone?
I work in the software industry, I know how hard it is to deliver a product of this quality and scope, and how easy it is to overlook something like this, but please re tune the difficulty in these missions, they are not challenging, just frustrating.

I second the issue with Soure Doomsday. He just swims around never attacking. Meanwhile, once the others start attacking, they won’t break off and retreat which ends with them dying over and over.

Ranger Bug List

in Ranger

Posted by: ChrisP.4386

ChrisP.4386

Not sure of this a true bug or if it’s ranger only, but I’ve had an autotarget issue of the game selecting a non-hostile creature to attack (yellow text) instead of the hostile (red text) directly in front of me. I frequently am directly facing a charging enemy and hit ‘1’ on my bow only to have my arrow shoot off left or right and hit a moa or some such. Not sure if it’s related to proximity, but autotarget should never pick a non-hostile, imho.

Feel free to move this to a generic bug thread if appropriate.
