What happens in case of draw

Hi,

what happens in the case of two servers having the exact ammount of victory points right before reset? Is it the War Score that determines the winner right down to the very last minute? or is it a combination of how many times each server finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd? or is it something else? couldn’t find anything on wiki or the forums.

[Suggestion] Siege Damage Adjustment

Hi,

ever since you have doubled the health on siege (which makes sense cause now you can crit hit one), i ve noticed that defensive siege has dropped effectiveness. Since defensive siege does not crit hit, it basically needs twice the hits to destroy an enemy siege.

It is quite frustrating on the defenders side cause you can no longer get enemy siege down before they breach the wall/gate. Even in t3 objectives, 6 sups rams on the gate is enough to breach it, even if you got a defender behind it shooting with a treb from the first minute (i personally lost a t3 tower earlier with this exact way). I have noticed the same problem with ballistas and cannons (for example inner cannon on garrison watergate).

The way i see it, you can fix this by either increasing the damage done by defensive siege against other siege or by dicreasing the damage done by offensive siege.

Ofc i know you will give it some thought and find the best solution possible. It certainly requires some looking into though cause i am positive that other ppl feel the same discomfort with the matter.

Hello again,

before i start, let me clarify that i do solo WvW and i find little interest in the other parts of the game. Also keep in mind, that my suggestions are going to affect mostly players that have already reached or reaching the endgame and not new players.

I have been very satisfied with the overall attention you are paying to wvw lately. Introducing the reward tracks and the Polls we are having are simply amazing. Also, finally even WvW players can now collect some decent gold and spend it where they see fit like food, sieges and maybe some skins every now and then. But there are still a few things i would like to point out.

1st and most important is the reward track. I ve completed all the tracks already and repeating certain ones over and over again with no interest whatsoever in what track i am actually repeating.

My idea here is simple. Keep the reward tracks we are currently having but label them as “Normal” and they can still be around for players that are not doing WvW so often or they might have come to WvW for a specific track like The Gift of Battle BUT introduce new reward tracks like “Major” ones or even “Glorious” ones that actuall WvW players can choose for something better in the longrun.

Give us gifts of exploration and other gifts for legendaries or even one massive reward track for a completely new legendary back item like PvP-ers have the Ascesion. I personally did map completition once and i will never do it again but i would certainly like to start a new legendary if i had that option through a reward track that would assist me a bit. I like WvW most, but i do like shiny things too, do not get me wrong

2nd suggestion is, kind of an extension of the first one. New rank ups in WvW make no sense after you get all your WvW abilities unlocked. And for someone who solo WvW, that’s very soon. And yes, getting a new-tier title like platinum is kneet but that could be something so much more.

Give us something specific every 500 or 1000 ranks so we can actually have something to look forward to. Like the AP chests. Or introduce new WvW abilities. A bunch of them. Something.

3rd and last suggestion is the WvW achievements. When i loged in in HoT for the first time i had all my WvW achievements completed, except the Ultimate Dominator title. Since i mostly defend homeborder, i know i m never gonna get that title and thats ok with me. But give us something to keep track of. And yeah, not unrealistic like the old ones, but maybe something high enough but actually obtainable.

I remember me and my friend were comparing Objectives Defended to see who was highest, or dollies escorted to objectives, stuff like that, that can literally express in numbers how much effort you have put in the game. Now that everybody has everything, titles have no meaning any longer and thats rather disappointing.

Keep in mind that all three of my suggestions are mostly aiming for those few players that love WvW, play lots of it and dont want to play anything else. I hardly believe any of those ideas can be exploited or farmed by someone who doesn’t love WvW. But it will be a nice addition to us who have reached the endgame and feel like we are losing purpose of why we do stuff.

Remember that WvW players are very loyal and commited to the game. Give us something that only WvW-ers can brag about it!

Dragonhunter can leap in blue eb keep inner

DH using Wings of Resolve can leap inside blue eb keep inner from the watergate. This obviously needs a fast adress since a single DH can take down all defensive siege on inner, before the zerg coming in for an attack. A few DHs could even assault the keep and flip it if the defenders are a bit careless.

[Suggestion] WvW changes

Hello,

been playing the new borderlands a lot for the past couple of weeks and here is a few suggestions i would like to point out.

1st and most important. Lack of wps in your homeborder. Wasn’t sure about the new change you made with the new borderlands having one wp in the old “garrison” aka earth keep and now two more wps in the south towers. Wanted to wait and try it out before i made up my mind. After 2 weeks of play, i am now definately positive that those 2 wps in the south towers are a major disadvantage for the overall experience of the WvWers. Although when in enemy border the one extra wp at the spawn tower might help a bit (only a bit) it doesn’t compensate to the fact that you will only have 1 wp available in your homeborder. The map is too large and even if you get familiar with it and the routes you have to take, the distance is still too big for anyone to cover over and over again every day. The way i see it, there are two possible ways to make this better. One is to open the wps in the south towers for all regardless if this is your home or enemy border and two is, to bring back the good old wps in every keep in your homeborder and therefore discard the wps in the south towers completely. At this point i would like to point out the disadvantages of the first option. Having a wp in the south towers is better than no wp at all but still, it doesnt add up much, considering that towers are harder to defend than keeps. Imagine if you did have a wp in the south tower and it got contested. You would have to run all the way from earth keep just to check it out. Until you get there the tower will most likely be lost already. Even if the other south tower had a wp itself, it would still require time to travel to the contested tower. I mean, trying to defend a tower when you get inside and the wall/gate is already at 10% is pretty much a lost cause. This is not the same however with keeps. What a keep offers you, is the abbility to have one more barier between you and the attackers. So even if the attackers have already breached outer, you will still be able to defend inner. Therefore wps in keeps are a much more sustainable solution.

2nd. Aggroing guards gets the tower/keep contested. Keep in mind that this, adds up with the problems of having wps that you can use in the south towers of your homeborder. Although this idea seems interesting, having attackers being more careful not to aggro the guards and defenders being able to see if an objective is under attack from the first second, it makes things, on the defender’s side, harder. Noone wants to constantly checking keeps to see if they are under attack just because one roamer is flipping the shrines. Do not get me wrong. I like the new change. I just think it will have better efficiency IF the radius of the guards getting aggro is dicreased by a significant number. If someone attacks the guards, fine, the objective becomes contested. But not if someone is just passing by trying to get to somewhere else.

3rd. Guild catas and guild siege in general. Okey, 25 supplies for a superior siege was op but, 50… I mean, i can carry 15 supplies so i am going to make four runs anyway to build the cata. Might as well build a superior one. Same goes for when we will have the +5 again. Three runs for a superior, three runs for a guild cata. With 50 supplies required, you are basically taking this siege out of the game. If the cost was saving me from one supply run then i might start using them again. Same goes for every other guild siege.

That’s all i’ve got so far. Good Job on the new borderlands, they look amazing. Just hope you ’ll take my suggestions under consideration so we can all start enjoying them more than we already are.

The OP is neglecting the fact that guilds run hoelbrak -20% condi, -40% condi food, that’s 60%, have good purging rotations and its -93% condi duration, essentially making most condis tick once, shout cleanse guards are useless in guild raids as I almost never feel condi pressure with the guild

Soft CC is the most important CC you need to prevent and Warrior warhorn/guardian purging flames usually provide enough removal, along with eles, and with -condi duration food. The warriors main role in a train are to lock down the enemy melee with flurry, keep the train moving with warhorn cleanses, and of course banners. Hammer Stuns are hard to get off with good stab rotations so it’s not as good as the sword so running axe isn’t optimal over the sword.

A dps war is completely different playstyle and purpose and shouldn’t be mixed into a hybrid with the melee train warrior or you’re just gimping the build overall.

I wouldn’t run Trooper runes on guard btw.

Yeah i think i get it now. You are all basically saying that with Hoelbrak/Melandru runes and Lemongrass you don’t need more condi cleansing than what Purging Flames +WH already provide so there is no need for trooper runes and Shout Builds, therefore increasing the damage output of the group with pretty much the same survivability.

If i run a warrior in a guild set up, i would either build him defensively/support or offensive, no hybrids like WH-dps warriors. I agree though that 5 shout heal warriors with warhorn traited might be a bit much though for a 20 man guild group because of the huge range (1200) and 10 target aoe cap of Charge. So just like you suggested, i would propably run less warriors, but not because guard has superior condi cleansing but because warrior condi cleanse is OP. And if I run with less warriors, i wouldnt substitute them with guards.

Thx a lot. That’s exactly the kind of insight i was looking for. Btw, the group with 10 guards and 5 warriors would be around 25-30 ppl. Basically, 2 guards, 1 warrior, 1 necro and 1 ele for each party with a room for 2 mesmers and a thief (for scouting) in total. If we would run with a 20 man group then perhaps 8 guards, 4 warriors, 4 necros, 3 eles and a mesmer would be enough.

Why the focus on condition removal? The extra HP a warrior has makes up for the lack of support. Properly built warriors will usually be the last to fall in any fight.

Its not about who will still stand when everyone else is dead. This is guild raids we are talking about. The point is all the players in the group to be able to survive pretty much the same time, while having major condi removal but decent dps as well.

Problem is that decent dps with a Shout Warrior is not an option.

Your base calculations from your op are still off because you disregarded condi removal from charge and the aoe condi removal from quick breathing.

If you remove soft cc constantly, the other aoe condi removals from whatever source can focus on the damaging condis before they stack up.

True but i am not against WH. I am against PTV gear, trooper runes and Shake it off. Because if you use a different set of runes you can instantly get a nice bonus to Power along with some other offensive stat possibly and if you use Endure Pain you can also switch to some more offensive trinkets/armor (since you will have better survivability), therefore increasing your average damage a lot.

Yes and yes. Support means you need to survive for as long as you can in order to provide for your group. If you die then the party collapses. I sometimes switch to a more offensive build though and i do find it more amusing.

Flurry imobilizes and aoe damages, so its a kind of secure kill when the target can’t run aways from the group.

And most WvW players I play with make sure to get all their stacks before engaging in any skirmishes, isn’t that basic? so shouldn’t it be basic to include those stats in your calculations? Unless you roll with a group that doesn’t care for stacks and doesn’t want to maximize their chances of coming out on top of skirmishes.

Regarding flurry, i always though warriors would use the hammer burst like 99% of the time. What i was asking is if there was some advanced using of flurry or something. Because isn’t a 2 sec stun always better than a 4 sec immobilize???

Regarding stacks, yeah, they help a lot, yeah, ppl should focus on getting them if some downed player or some veterans are around, but when you are in a guild raid you are always running for something. Running to save a tower, running to help some other guild, running to counter attack your opponent’s corner… Most of the times there is no time for stacks. So you can’t rely on always having them.

But this is out of topic. I am interested in knowing if any other guilds are running with Shout warriors and if so with what analogy to the guardians of the group.

they are just different.

A melee train that can’t lock down enemies with warriors is a dead or a useless melee train.

Pls explain “secure kill with flurry”. I am not suggesting not to use warriors at all. I am just saying to use them more offensively. Keep the warhorn, keep the 4 points on Tactics to secure Quick Breathing, keep For Great Justice to give might+fury. But hell, trooper runes and shake it off? That’s crippling your dps for very little payoff.

Anyways, even if you are right, Charge still removes immo/chill/cripple for up to 10 allies.

Nut sure, if a DPS warrior should equip a warhorn.

He is getting some very nice numbers and managing to survive for as long as most of the guild members do.

But even if you go for gs/hammer (for higher mobility than sword/warhorn and therefore better survivability), you can’t expect Charge to cure all three Crippled, Immobilized, Chilled from ALL 10 players. Most of the times you are using it to cure simple conditions on you, not taking into account other player’s condi status. So it’s a very small overall condi removal to take into account. I think that IF you played with no warhorn, the ability you would miss most (for the group) would be Call to Arms, for blasting water fields and therefore healing yourself and your group. And this is why i would not suggest even for a dps warrior to play without a warhorn.

Support builds tend to cripple your dps. And i am fine with that as long as i play with my guardian. But warriors are supposed to be doing most of the damage there. Why on earth would you cripple their dps as well for a minimum condi removal?? That is what i can’t understand. If any guild leader/member can grant me insight on that i would be very happy.

You kinda missed to account for the condi removal (condi->boons actually) from warhorns on that warrior build, didnt you?

Quick Breathing only applies to yourself. I am counting condi removal on the group (5 allies targeted) only. + you would get that with a dps warrior as well.

So lets say within 1 min a guardian can cure:

4 conditions with stand your ground
4 conditions with hold the line
6 conditions with purging flames
6 conditions with virtue of resolve (its 42 secs cooldown but you have Renewed Focus as well)

That’s 20 condis per minute.

A warrior on the other hand can cure:

3 conditions with for great justice
6 conditions with shake it off

9 total per minute.

Even if you used Fear Me which you can’t because warriors lack stability a lot and Shrug it Off from traits (which again you can’t because you need Quick Breathing or Empower Allies) you still only get 3 more condis removed per minute. That’s 12 in total.

Now, average damage on both builds is around 1k. BUT if you could change your warrior into a dps warrior (providing almost nothing to the group except For Great Justice) you could easily reach your average damage to 1.5k.

So, lets say you are in a guild raid and as usual, the leader requests for 10 guardians and 5 warriors (all shouters). You get:
10(guardians) x 20(conditions removed per minute) = 200 condi rem per min
5(warriors) x 9 (conditions removed per minute) = 45 condi rem per min
Total: 245 condis removed per min
Average damage: 1k.

but if you could change the distribution and had 12 guardians and 3 DPS warriors you would get:

12(guardians) x 20(condis per min) = 240 condis per min
Average damage: [12(guardians) x 1k(average damage each) + 3(warriors) x 1.5k(average damage each)] / 15 = 1100

You can see that the condi removal is the same but you get to increase the average damage of the group by 10%.

So (finally) my question is this:

Why do ppl get obsessed with Shout Warriors and how needed they are in WvW? They will never offer more than a guardian (keep in mind that a guardian also provides your group with useful boons like stability and protection, along with the condi removal) and you are basically turning one of the best professions for dps (warriors) into bad condi removal puppets.

Sorry for the long post. It’s just that i am tired of ppl suggesting the same build over and over again. PTV gear with trooper runes. It’s op for guardians, i know but warriors? Really?

On a sidenote, more Dragonite Ore is being added for taking over Keeps/towers in WvW with thuesday’s patch.

Do you know what the difference will be? 5 ore for keep lord really sucks. It should be something like 20 considering that most of the times you will be fighting over the castle. By the way, you did mean keeps/castles right? Because if they add dragonite ore on towers then i should just let everything and focus on WvW

My problem are the Empyreal Fragments. I hate dungeons. I really REALLY HATE dungeons.

Too bad you hate dugeons… I farm 7 paths in 2 hours and get 10 gold and around 140 Emp daily. You should just write down on description XP or AP>5k and i think you will find experienced players joining your party and therefore finish it quick with no sweat.

Ok so someone gave me an application that you can see the world bosses when they are activated while you are inside the game. This helped me significantly to track down the events and by using both my level 80 characters i managed to gather 200 dragonite in 1 day. So problem solved.

Hi all.

I am currently trying to create my first ascended weapon and a full ascended armor set. Although i have all of the resources needed for the weapon and most (the rest i can buy from tp, gold is not a matter) of them for the armor set i find it very hard collecting dragonite ore. I am way behind on this material (i now have 250 and need another 250 for the weapon and 1500 for the armor).

So i was wondering which is the best way to get a steady income of dragonite ore (50-60 a day would be enough).

I saw another post and someone said that world bosses are a good idea. Problem is i have trouble tracking those events even with the event tracker from gw2stuff. Temples are rarely played on my server (balthazar was up 48 hours last time i checked) and other bosses with good drop rate are mostly inactive during my hours of play.

WvW might be a solution but i might get like 30-50 ore for 4-5 hours of play if i am lucky. I need more.

I also tried the new event, Scarlet’s Marionette. Drop rate is pretty good but had 4/5 failures so far so again i am not satisfied with the drop/time spent.

Also, joining a guild that calls out world bosses is not an option since i am currently in a guild with my friends in real life and i wouldn’t want to leave them.

With that being said, maybe one of you can help me find a solution under my circumstances.

Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to give you guys a good understanding of my thoughts so you can offer me the best advice.

Further, there is no such thing as the group creator, group owner, or group leader. No special imprimatur is given to any particular member of the party, other than the person who opens the dungeon. People who might claim any rights to “my group” or “my LFG” are making things up.

Honestly, if you aren’t aware that an instance creator can’t swap characters then you don’t really deserve the privilege (not the right) of leveling your alts this way. Your little test runs screwed a total of 8 people out of their dungeon rewards.

Let me clarify that in all three attempts i did mention that i intented to swap character and most agreed or didnt say no. I know it’s still frustrating but this is why i created this topic. To avoid this happening again.

Hello,

Today i tried three times to switch character at the end of ascalonian catacombs. The first one was succesfull (P1) but the last two (P2) ended with the group being kicked out of the dungeon and we had to restart it all over again.

Someone said it might have been the fact that i was the party creator so the last time i joined in another’s party and again it failed.

Does anyone know how to avoid this??

I am obviously doing this because i want to level up my secondary character.

I get approximately 6 – 8 gold when I do all these runs. (I have 68% magic find)

I am currently getting a rare item in almost every run and crafting anything below because i want to raise my magic find even more.

Still, going from 5 gold in 2 hours to 10 gold in 3 hours is a good addition. I need to learn those paths fast though… I better get to work.

TP flipping is the fastest way

having said that, those estimated costs are if you do it the fastest way. If you go to

you can see what is currently crafts at a profit

I had never thought of TP flipping. I will definately look into it. Are the profits calculated by imidiate sales, or will i have to “match lowest seller” and wait until the purchase?

For Dungeons I do:

SE P1 (15 mins)
COF P1 (10 mins)
COF P2 (15-20 mins)
HotW P1 (15 mins)

All Times shown can be done with an average group.

Hello all,

Let me start by saying that i am new to guild wars (only been playing for a month). I am currently trying to reach my guardian to level 500 on his weaponsmith and armorsmith and i have seen some sites mentioning it will cost me around 200 gold for the weaponsmith and 180 gold for the armorsmith. Lets say 400 gold in total.

Since i do believe that this is the fastest way to reach lvl500 (instead of searching for the materials) i was wondering what are the best farming options for gold.

I currently run Ascalonian Catacombs, all paths almost every day which provides me with around 5 gold within roughly 2 hours. Up until now i didnt have more free time to play, but i will soon, so i was wondering what other gold farming methods there are. More dungeons and if so which? Or maybe rerun the paths twice a day? Or perhaps something different than dungeons?
