Lorella Windrunner – 80 Thief
Shayera Nightfall – 80 Mesmer
Vit/Toughness/Healing. :/
I would like to see some mobile siege. Hell, make a tank that requires a driver and gunner.
Mug has a 45 second cooldown. =/
Why is Anet so reluctant to make SERIOUS class changes? It’s like we’re taking baby steps.
Are they really that afraid of player backlash?
To me it’s about being versatile but having the ability to pretty much max out your damage so that things die fast when you need to.. I also find that killing mobs fast as possible is often what saves lives, against the 1shot type of things in dungeons I think it’s best to burn things down quickly to support your teammates.
I mean we can go back and forth debating all day. Mitigating damage + healing and killing things faster aren’t even on the same boat. Being versatile on my Guardian is just picking the right weapon, traits, and utilities for whatever I’m being thrown against. I don’t change gear because I’m comfortable with what I have. (see my sig)
Seriously though. If I want to DPS and kill things I have two real DPS classes to do; my thief and mesmer (which are far better than a Guardians). I pick whatever character I want to play based on their strengths, group desire, and whatever I feel like playing.
My Guardian = Tank/healer/support
My Thief = DPS / WvW scout
My Mesmer = DPS / specialized in Glamour so hybrid support/AOE DPS + confusions.

GW2 marketed itself by taking out everything everyone hated from WoW and SWTOR and putting it into this game.
Notice how the game came out with free transfers? SWTOR’s lack of transfers is part of the reason that MMO flopped.
Man, the new patch really killed Spirit Weapons in PvE.
I can’t even use the Shield one anymore because it gets one shot constantly on boss fights (half the time as soon as it spawns). =/
Also, mobs keep targeting them and they’re soaking up group heals.
The problem isn’t with the Greatsword, but really the other weapons aren’t as attractive or have singular roles.
Good come back. Let’s see if you can keep the momentum up till 8 pm tomorrow.
I honestly have to say Thief’s are the best forward scouts for WvW, but I don’t understand why people don’t do it. I operate deep in the enemies rear all the time, calling out packs of zergs I see moving around the map, or I stay a sizable distance ahead of our zerg or stand guard watching flanks and call out any enemies trying to hit our flank. It’s invaluable information to commanders on VOIP who can setup counter attacks or reposition their troops.
If I’m under attack or spotted 99% of the time I can escape. Withdraw, short bow, and shadow refuge — you aren’t going to get me unless I’m not paying attention and I’m going to brag on that fact.
So if you’re a Thief in WvW, do some scouting and join the action when the two bulls collide.
Cool! They just need a character rename and I’ll be happy.
Those Scavenger’s are the most overpowered trash mobs in game. If they knock you down and you don’t have a stun break up you’re guaranteed to be full lifed by being chain knocked down.
I mean, it’s absolutely NOT fun being chain knocked down from 100% to 0% by mobs in dungeons. Why isn’t there a proper DR system or anything in place that prevents you from being knocked down if you’re already knocked down? In PvE you shouldn’t be able to get knocked down again until you stand back up.
I had a kit already sitting around and I was really disappointed. I misread and thought it was new hair styles.
Signet with Purity is prettykittengood in PvP. 2 conditions removed every 10 seconds.
With a +healing set, it heals for about 80% of your HP.
I honestly can see why Trahearne would be so annoying for the other races because he isn’t built up at all for them.
On the Sylvari side you meet him in the first Chapter and he is more of the guy on the side who helps you out and provides advice. He is a scholar and has great knowledge of Orr, but eventually gains the courage to become a general. You get a personal connection to him early on.
As stated above, Energy. Your dodge heals are really quite nice, and dodging is just the win. Switch, Dodge,(perhaps another dodge), 4, dodge, Line of Warding, switch.
You’re better off just using Sigil of Stamina instead. Full endurance bar every kill.
and what if you’re in a situation where you aren’t consistently killing things?
I have two staffs.
My main staff has Sigil of Life. (+10 healing, stacks 25 times) and #2 has Sigil of Stamina.
If and when I hit 25 stacks of healing I swap out to the Sigil of Stamina. Selfless Daring is rofl good with non-stop endurance!!
Oh, and LOL at having to equip staff just to get around the map. Staff is horrible for roaming by yourself.
Why do people always make statements without getting their facts straight?
Staff = 10-11.5s of swiftness (depends on rune+boon trait). 12s cooldown if traited.
Well enough to get you across the map.
The Shortbow is one of my favorite ranged weapons in game. It has 900 range, but being able to bounce around to multiple targets makes it great for PvE and PvP. Cluster bombs also hits for some good numbers (I see 3.5-4k crit’s all the time) and poison cloud is useful for area denial.
You also have to realize we’re primarily intended as a close-range class so if we had 1200 range then what’d be the point of a ranger?
JQ needs to start up that recruitment train again! Primetime US it’s coming down to three guilds having to play firemen.
Neverwinter Nights was the only MMO actual roleplaying game I’ve ever played. Hell, people STILL play it and it’s over 10 years old.
It’s an issue with Thiefs (and Warriors) right now being able to hit for excessive amount of damage in short-bursts.
I have an 80 Thief (D/D Backstab build) and 80 Guardian (Support—bunker build).
On my Thief I can use Venom Touch + Steal + Cloak and Dagger + Backstab and 3/4th’s (or kill) somebodies in less than 2 seconds and they can’t do anything because they’re paralyzed and you can’t stun break it. That’s if I can actually get behind them because you spend a lot of time chasing people around on a thief trying to get behind them.
On my Guardian I have 3300 armor in my WvW build and I’ve been crit numerous times for 10,000+ damage by Warriors Killshot. You don’t even get a chance to react or even see it coming when you’re in mass PvP. I mean, if you want proof look at my video and skip to 1:17 → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GekhA7Ix1IE
I don’t have as much problems with backstab Thiefs anymore because I know how to counter them now, but a lot of them just faceroll Heartseeker for 4-6k’s back to back.

You can’t really take Aegis anywhere else without turning the Guardian into an actual Tanking class. It’s great in PvE. Mace #3 ftw.
WvW was supposed to be the pinnacle of open world PvP, but after a month it feels more like an endless grind.

A lot of things done differently in this game is to remove elitistism and this is one of those things that they won’t do.
Earlier in WvW a thief jumped me in the battle field, popped Haste, and literally full healthed me and dropped a finishing move in the span of 4 seconds then vanished and ran away when there was 20 other people around me. I was completely shocked as I have never been killed that fast by any class in game, even Warriors.
I have 3182 armor and had 17.2k hp at the time. I wish I was running fraps because I was rooted and my health bar just dropped 100% to 0% in mere seconds before I could even react.
This (and Warriors) is really starting to ruin PvP for me with the ridiculous amount of damage being dumped out. There should be 0 reason why any class should hit even over 3.5k physical attacks on builds stacked high on armor.
(edited by ComeAndSee.1356)
I mean, come on. I have 3173 armor and I got crit for 9493 damage by Killshot in WvW. This is probably a 15k crit on a light armor. If warriors can hit that hard on the highest armored classes than how is that ability balanced?
I’m also tired of the billion warriors running around frenzied Hundred Blading + Blade Trail for 12k~ damage in 1.75s on my 3k armor. Yeah, give me ten billions reasons how you can dodge it so you can justify the ridiculous amount of damage being thrown out by warriors right now.
So coming from somebody who has the highest defenses in game — warriors hit too hard. They nerfed the 8k++ backstab crits, why not this crap already?
(edited by ComeAndSee.1356)
I thought this was supposed to be fixed weeks ago?
JQ needs to stop building siege in invul spots on their home map. :/ Don’t believe me I have 4 screenshots of 4 separate incidents.

Whats up with all the taunting by BG players on a defeats ? Ive been laughed at, danced on, slept on, and on occasionally left their bleeding as the BG Invader emotes me till I die. It’s like BG amateur hour out there now and far more closer to the 1st time BG entered T1 than the more laid back BG that was here last time in t1.
People do it on all sides and it’s always pugs doing it.
The mace is a great weapon. It’s auto-attack is a little slow, but you can hit up to 3 targets.
#2. Is one of the best heals in game. It scales very pleasantly with AH, Writ, and +Healing. Also, it does reasonable damage to enemies.
#3. This is a clutch ability in PvE and PvP if you line it up perfectly against big hits.
I played SWTOR PvP hardcore and that game had good (but not perfect) Warzone system. If only ranked Warzones came out sooner and were cross realm than I would still be playing there. It was very well balanced.
sPvP in this game is not balanced at all. Thief’s can hit you for half your HP in one hit, CC spam is absurd and there’s no diminishing returns, and there’s really no point to it.
What kills sPvP for me is the lack of accomplishment. Your PvE and PvP gear are completely separate entities and you don’t even get XP for doing it. Also, the lack of different game modes gets repetitive and it takes a redonculus amount of time to get ranks.
I wouldn’t say its the most “neglected” because they did put a lot of effort into the tournament + map selection system. It just really doesn’t fit in with this game. I don’t find it as fun as WvW and it’s not where as good as SWTOR was.
It’s like the part of the game that is hidden.

what up SoS, 3 waypoints in yo crib!
I blame it on conspiracy theories. Nah, I blame it on Mondays. Wait, 2v1’s.
Actually, I blame it on WvW February patch that needs to be here already so we can get WvW back to what it use to be (in terms of player attendance). It’s getting pathetic that servers that are listed as ***FULL*** can only manage to get players on 1 map.
