I’m in Ontario, Canada.

Interesting, I’m also in Ontario. It could just be coincidence, but I’ve had other Canadian friends tell me they’ve had connection issues in the past during the same times I have.

Would you mind if I asked what ISP you’re with? I’m on Rogers.

I was playing fine a couple of hours ago, decided to take a break, and now my game is giving me some problems.

I took a look at the list of error codes on the wiki and neither was listed. The closest error for the first code (21:6:3:2198) was related to the stored password becoming corrupted and was easily corrected. The second code (5:11:3:159:101) is related to Network or Firewall issues. Nothing has changed with my network or firewall settings, so I’m a little confused. Can anyone shed some light on why I’m having these problems so suddenly?

To be more exact, I can login through the launcher and get to my character selection screen, but receive the error after ~20 seconds of trying to get into Loading’s Arch.

Quick Edit: Attempting to reselect “Remember Account Name” and “Remember Password” causes the first error to reappear.

“Throw an illusionary greatsword that bounces between targets, damaging foes and giving might to allies. It creates a clone at its first target.”

The bounce doesn’t go as far as you might think it does, so if you’re casting from near-to-max range you will not be hit by the returning blade and granted might.

Adding Guild Wars style daily missions.

There are a handful of ways to generate income in Guild Wars 2 and, in my opinion, they’re all pretty awful. You can farm events in Orr, but the timers are always off and the army of bots pillages everything in their path. You can farm lodestones from various enemies, but the drop rate is nearly non-existent and it can take hours to find a single one even with magic find gear and buffs. You can run dungeon explorable paths for their once a day reward of 26 silver, but a lot of them are still prone to bugging out during some events making them impossible to complete without starting from the beginning (not to mention repair costs if you don’t have a dedicated group to run with). Playing the economy is always a valid option, but it defiantly should not be the primary means of bringing home the bacon.

Guild Wars gave us a daily mission, PvP scenario, and a bounty that were all fun and easy ways to generate some extra income without having to spend hours praying to the Gods of RNG. Why this idea wasn’t brought over to Guild Wars 2 is beyond me, but it seems like it would have been the logical thing to do. Supplement a daily explorable in place of the mission, keep the PvP scenario and bounty, add (a) daily event(s), done.

Obviously farming and the like will always be a large part of making money in MMO’s, but they don’t have to be the only ways.

1 to 40 during the 3-day head start, and then ~10 levels a day after that. Probably 7 or 8 days in total?

Lots of free time.

Dude what is the name of the sword???

That would be any standard Asura one-handed sword. I believe they’re called Glyphic in game.

Is it actually possible to melee in dungeons?

The best advice I can give any melee is to watch the enemy, not your skills. Once you get the hang of that all the pieces start falling into place.

I’m posting this as a proxy via a friend of mine who no longer has access to his own account. When his account was hacked he naturally tried to reset his password, but found that the hacker had changed the email address associated with the account. His credit card is still attached to the account and he would very much like to recover it before any serious damage can be done.

As of right now the account is logged into the game and has been transferred away from the original server it was on. My friend has confirmed he did not make the switch prior to the incident, nor was he logged out in the current area (Sparkfly Fen) where his character is now playing. I believe his account is currently being used to farm materials to turn around and eventually sell gold with.

If anyone from ArenaNet is reading this, both my friend and I would be very thankful for any help you can provide in this situation. Attached is a screenshot to verify the characters current status, server, and location.

I’m pretty sure in the report tab there is a strict warning that abusing the report system will result in punishment. It doesn’t apply to just saying ‘reported’ over and over however. Just accept that this is the internet, and people will typically say things they will never do.

Thanks for the reply. Of course I’m aware that a fair number of the people claiming to be doing the reporting are more than likely just saying it to join in the public lynching, but I still believe there are a large amount of people who aren’t. I guess we just have to hope that ArenaNet takes that warning to heart.

My build is crit based, so I mainly run with Berserker weapons and armour (Power, Precision, Crit Dmg). Surviving in dungeons seemed hard at first, but only because I was unfamiliar with the enemy mechanics. Any time I go down now is largely due to my own errors or misjudgement with dodges. Though I love my damage, I do plan on trying out a more defensive build based around area control and focusing on Power, Toughness, and Vitality.

Both might be worth looking into if you’re up for anything.

My friends and I have been running the Magg explorable route in Citadel of Fire repeatedly for some easy gold and mats. With a group of competent players that know how the dungeon works, a run can take anywhere from roughly 20 to 30 minutes depending on damage output and individual survival skills. Completing the dungeon nets you 25 silver, 20 tokens (30 for the first run of the day), plus whatever loot you receive from enemies or chests. I usually make a profit of about 45 silver per run, which is nearly the same as what you’re currently making through selling materials.

I assume the ore you’re selling is mostly Mithril in bulk. Have you thought about using the Mystic Forge to transmute a stack of 250 Mithril Ore into a random amount of Orichalcum Ore? I admit it may be a bit of a gamble, but you can make a much larger profit if luck happens to be on your side.

Maybe I’m the odd one out in this situation, but I’m starting to get fairly concerned about the number of times I’ve walked into any area and immediately seen people shouting “Reported!” over things that seem like complete non-issues.

At first, because “Reported!” has been a long time tongue-in-cheek joke across many online games (especially MMOs), I had assumed it was just people messing around for a chuckle here or there. Now I’m not so sure. Here are some recent examples I’ve seen in various zones that I hope will help you understand what I’m getting at.

Lion’s Arch – Exchange of goods during Trading Post downtime:

A player was trying to sell a black dye while the TP was down for maintenance and was asking if anyone would like to buy it from him via mail. Someone took him up on his offer and asked if he would prefer if he sent the gold first or not. Rather than someone warning the Buyer that the Seller may intend on scamming him out of his gold, players immediately began a crusade against the Seller and demanded that everyone present report the ‘scammer’ so that he could be rightly(?) punished for his ‘crime’. A third player stepped in to make the point that until the deal has actually taken place no one can know if the Seller is pulling one over on the Buyer or not. This Defender was also immediately attacked and supposedly reported for ‘supporting scammers’. Afterword I confirmed with both parties via whisper that the deal had gone through and they had received their due payments.

Orr, The Cursed Shore – A player explains how he makes his income:

A player in Cursed Shore was complaining about how he was having a rough time bringing home the bacon for his lovely Salad family. An Entrepreneur of sorts chimed in, explaining that he himself had taken the time to memorize the locations of the larger clusters of ore nodes in the area and made a route he followed to minimize the time needed to gather it all while still doing events along the way. He also explained how, after he had finished his run, he would take whatever Mithril he received and use the Mystic Forge to change it into Orichalcum, which he would then sell on the TP for a much larger profit. Players in the area immediately began telling him how this was abuse(?) of the node system, one even going so far as to claim “if ArenaNet intended you to farm anything other than karma, the Trading Post wouldn’t exist”. Our poor Entrepreneur was also “Reported!”.

Orr, Straits of Devastation – A joke seemingly gone too far:

During the prime time event zerg for karma, one very angry user was taking out his frustrations by calling the group of players ‘a bunch of stupid [filtered word goes here] that can’t stick to a simple pattern’. An aspiring Jokester believed this may be his moment to shine and said, “Excuse me, but that harsh language is an exploit of my feelings. If you do it again I’ll be forced to report you! jk lol”. Apparently ‘jk lol’ isn’t what it used to be, as several users began to attack the Jokester, ironically claiming that his abuse(?) of the report system would not go unpunished. Evidently, the Jokester was “Reported!” too.

Again, maybe I’m the oddball here, but frankly this seems like a lot of commotion over nothing. I think everyone could benefit from taking a deep breath, getting the facts straight, and using their best judgement before throwing out a “Reported!” so willynilly. And if that doesn’t work, than I seriously hope ArenaNet is taking a majority of these reports with a grain of salt before ultimately deciding on a final verdict.
