I’m assuming that this, like the Halloween and Winters Day events, will be available every year, the reason I say this is because in GW1 there are Terminator themed quests every year for April fools.

If you enjoy it as much as we do, than yes, it’s very likely to join the list of content that may make an appearance again the future and be expanded on. This is indeed one of our goals of developing a living world with the game!

Please, PLEASE bring it back again. I took a break from GW2 and pondered leaving the game, I logged in yesterday and had some new content to do considering the Razing and today my guild and I played the Super Adventure Box and LOVED it!!!! -Ranger sword rooting issue fixed( Ranger can no longer use sword )

I want to first apologize for some of my rage from yesterday but as a Ranger player I know that we all just want some answers. The OP is right many of our skills are just useless, our spirits are still lackluster, pet AI is still an issue, traits are in the wrong line or useless as well. Now these are ALL things that we have all said many times before, we have had one response here from Jon Peters and that was months ago. In all of the AMA’s the Ranger questions are never answered, in any interviews it’s the same thing. I hope the devs can see why this is causing us players frustration, the customer relations in this situation are obscenely terrible. We are asking for some simple communication and you guys are not delivering it, THIS is where you’re failing.

Pretty much this, they seem to give zero kittens about the Ranger profession but hey that underwater combat oh yeah, sorry guys but you seriously kittened this up again.

Yeah I doubt they’ll say anything at this point I just have no clue, I still love my Ranger as he’s my main but, I’m seriously considering making a different profession. I’m just kitten over guard that coupled with sick em gave hell to enemy invaders on towers. Just kitten man kitten!

I don’t really know what to say about the Guard nerf, I mean guys come on this was one of the advantages we had in Wv3 it helped keep invaders busy so they we not focused on our guys on the doors. Just thanks a whole kittening lot guys you really kittened us again!

Search and Rescue and Lick wounds are not working properly, my pets will have full health and just stand over me if I’m downed( Lick Wounds )or an ally( Search and Rescue ). Please fix these, especially since S&R comes in very handy for group play!

I’m glad I’m not the only one that caught that. Nice to see the devs think it’s a joke that we’re very viable underwater but on land not so much. Seriously guys just fix what needs fixing and please stop kittenfooting the Ranger. Pet AI is still an issue, you guys admitted to screwing up spirit build rangers( I used to play one and would like to go back to it ), the trap traits are in the wrong traitline, s/b swiftness does not always activate, Lick wounds and S&R do not work 100% of the time, just fix it please.

I don’t use a GS due to it’s low dmg, so yes ANet look into a fix for this.

Hello devs as you can see this thread has over 1,000 comments and we Rangers all want to know the same thing, are you still working on our fixes? I’m not asking for a timetable or anything like that but the communication with us has been very sparse, a little bit of communication on your end would be welcomed. We’re all waiting and as you can see the patience of some has worn thin, we just want some type of communication. Thanks and enjoy your day!

Thanks Anthony for the reply, but this never bothered me. I run a small guild but I also offer activities to keep my friends busy with the game plus I have a really great group. I’m confident that when ANet thought this content up they considered small and large guilds besides I remember from Colin’s blog post that it was said that it would have content for guilds of all sizes so no one was ever left out. As for the smaller guilds like mine and many others this could be a good time to find new members that are looking for an active and friendly guild.

Im a casualplayer, got a full time job and so far i got TWO precursors.

Learn how to get em and then start crying if u still fail, im pretty sure many of u arent even trying to get one and just farming money to buy them.

My first precurs i got from EB jumping puzzle chest. Venom (Trident) BUH. :C

My second one i got from Mystic forge, i threw in around 500 1handed swords to get my zap but the thing is i ended up with MORE money then i started with.

I doubt i was superlucky cus my guildleader got one after like 600 weaps too.

FYI i started with 40G and ended up with 105G and a Zap worth 250G.

Seriously the precursor issue is by far one of my biggest peeves about GW2, I enjoy the game and a Legendary weapon is one of my goals but finding the precursor is the most difficult part. I refuse to buy Zap from the TP, I’m not going to pay the gold for it, the mystic toilet has yet to yield the results I seek but until we get a scavenger hunt that’s the best shot I have. I really wish ArenaNet had implemented a scavenger hunt at launch and I hope they are actually working on one as they claim to be. This is obviously a hot button issue with many of us so please ANet fix it somehow.

I will do my best to make it one of the days, if work permits I’ll be there all three!! I will also pass on this info to my guild mates, and lastly I’ve had some interaction with some of the [ KING ] members and you guys have a great guild!!

Agreed on the random NPC convos are amazing!!! I never got really deep into GW1 I have it installed don’t my PC I just don’t play it :/ I do agree about Akari’s comment on weapon skills, I do believe we will see more in the future( at least I hope so ). GW2 is still a young game with plenty of time to grow I’m just glad one of my best friends told me about this game so that I can experience the growth!

Zedex welcome to GW2!!!! I’d like to give my opinion on the matter. I am also a former SWtOR player but the reason I left tOR was due to the community, maybe it was just the server I was on but they just weren’t helpful for the most part. Being that tOR was the second MMO I actually bought and had my own account on( First was DCUO but the gear grind after lvl cap was too much for me so I don’t play that much anymore either )I was discouraged and eventually dropped the game. Most of the MMO’s I played as a kid I played off older family or friends accounts with an alt so I was excited about tOR, it isn’t a bad game imo I love the story and class progression but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Guild Wars 2 while not a wholly perfect is a game I thoroughly enjoy! There are things I’d like to see improved on such as different weapon skills that we could equip just like the utility skills and more lvl 80 zones in the same vein as Orr( no hearts, just events ). Other than that everything else I wish to see has been addressed by the devs in the coming months updates. Now what I do love about the game is I don’t feel forced to do any type of content, I waited until lvl 80 to start dungeons, do map exploration, and I’m slowly working on items for a legendary weapon. I play WvW, meta event chains, and create activities with my guild to keep things fresh and exciting. For myself it’s nice to be able to break my content up so I don’t feel like I’m endlessly grinding and become bored( but yes GW2 does have a grind it’s just not as punishing as other games I have experienced ). The latest thing I really enjoy is the Living Story I’m really hoping they continue to do things like this so that the world actually feels dynamic and always changing. Guild Wars 2 is an amazing game, it may not be for everyone but it suits me very well!!

Agreed I recently logged off and was in Wayfarer with some friends just running alts and it was full of players, last night the same thing in Orr. I’d like to see ANet expand this living story idea across Tyria to keep the open world lively, if they can come up with things like this it will keep the player base interested. Hopefully they have a long term plan that works out, good job ANet!

I wasn’t expecting ONE Ranger Buff and they at least delivered on that. On top of all the content they’ve fixed, I have to say I’m satisfied with this patch, good job ArenaNet and continue the good work.

Need to learn a bit more control of the pet. In dungeons, esp ones where you know you have to run past mops, put pet on passive, and stow. If you know you are going to take some hits and pet will come out, put Guard skill on bar, and send pet in first with a a guard. That way, the pet isn’t pulling items to you, distracts the mops, and will also end up dead and not being a mop magnet.

On boss fights, switch to a ranged pet, or put on passive, and send in with the Attack my target command as needed, and pull back with the Return to me before the AOE attacks.

Pretty much follow this advice and you’ll be fine in dungeons, as for some skills not working yes Lick Wounds has been buggy for me as of late, as well as Search and Rescue at times the pet does not move to an ally when commanded. I really hope ArenaNet Devs are looking into these issues, Ranger is a great profession but you guys( ANet )really need to work the bugs out and balance it.

My main is a Ranger and I am partial to the profession, but I honestly do not expect any type of patch for us, I would like to see some balancing something that makes us a bit more viable on land as we are underwater but I doubt it. I hope ANet has not forgotten about us and are still planning on balancing the profession as they said they were. But until I see some changes all I can do is remain hopeful. Until then I’ll keep on tweaking my builds as needed and hoping the next update doesn’t call for me to change too much on how I currently play.

Quick Notes: We are a small( 20 member )close knit guild, laid back and always getting into something. We do a couple of Dungeons a week sometimes more and WvWvW every Saturday.

Sadly ANet removed the ability to rez your pet( though I wish it hadn’t been removed ), but to help with your pet not dying so much use trait points in Beastmastery. Thee is a trait that gives your pet natural health regen, also in the skirmishing line there is a trait that gives health when your pet deals critical hits. Equip Heal as one or healing spring as well as they will heal your pet as well as yourself. If my heal is in a cooldown and my pet is pulling so much aggro that he cannot regen fast enough I recall him to my side and put him on standby until he has a decent amount of health, try some of these out I hope they help. Oh and also Moa, arctodus, and bear are good for being able to take more damage than some other pets.

Oh look, more grind, hair-brained story injections, and cash shop flaunting. What a great update. Nothing that really matters like class balance, new skills, or weapons or anything like that…awesome! Now i can grind dailies for Ascended items as if FoTM wasn’t awful and pointless enough. I really don’t believe they’ve been seeing more and more players log on. They’re not giving us anything of value. Another lie…these updates aren’t the size of an expansion, get real. You guys need better communication not this hype-inducing PR and shady marketing.

Actually they haven’t really hyped up this release in every interview given within the past few weeks devs have said straightforward what the Jan 28th update would be, balances, tweaks to WvW, additions and changes to the drop system, and PvP changes. Colin even said several times that we should temper our expectations, we were informed awhile ago that this update would not be very big, yes ANet has made some missteps, but they do seem to be working toward rectifying them. This won’t be an overnight process. Besides even if there are more balances in the game for classes, they will more than likely be in the patch notes, which have yet to be released.

Not in the slightest I’m glad to see you guys taking a more vocal role in the forums and it’s best to temper expectations so that there is not disappointment from the gamers. We asked for communication and we’re getting, it that I applaud! Now that Dragons, Cantha, and Mounts( the latter two I had no expectations of personally )are out of the way, the description talks about earth and sky seeming to become the enemy, Norn and Charr head south struggling in search of shelter. Well since earth and sky are seemingly the enemies my thoughts are some possible cataclysm( earthquake in Diessa, horrible blizzard in Wayfarer? )this forces them south, now south of both of those areas could be Lions Arch or Deldrimor Front( the latter is a stretch ). I don’t really know what the enemy could possibly be in this, Inquest could have caused the disasters with some experiment of theirs maybe they’re the enemy behind this, it’s fun to speculate on the possibilities.

Good question!

Ascended rings will also be available for laurels as well. Back slot items will be made more widely available in the future and will likely tie into a different reward system.

(Please note, the ascended gear purchased for laurels will not have agony resistance built in, since that mechanic is currently unique to progression in the fractal dungeons. They are however statistically the same as any other ascended gear.)

We will also introduce an additional reward system (or systems) in the future to make these items more accessible to WvW players on top of the laurel system.

The remaining ascended item types will be introduced in future releases, and may or may not tie into the laurel system, TBD.

It sucks that some of you guys are having issues with the multi guild system, though I can see where it has it’s issues. I’m sure there are players who abuse the system on both ends as leaders and members, my guild is small( 20 )but we’re friends IRL so we don’t have any of these issues there are two members in another guild and their married so that’s totally ok with the rest of us.

This matchup has been great, I applaud the efforts of all three servers!

This please Devs us Ranger players have suffered from some pretty bad nerfs. Our pet AI is a bit busted, spirits still are not of much use too. Underwater we’re Aquaman on land we need to be buffed. Some answers to our questions would be welcomed. Thanks

My main is a ranger so I am attached even though I do have a warrior that is awesome, the ranger is my go to character. Like others I have tried many different builds as a matter of fact I just tried a new one tonight in WvW it’s a good build but it’s best suited for 1v1 fighting, I do ok with two enemies but more than that it gets tough. Fortunately my pets are set to do a lot of dmg but at the end of the day ANet we do need some buffs. I’m not going to drop the profession because I do enjoy playing it and I’m efficient in WvW but our spirits are in poor shape, our pets AI needs work, and we could use some improvements in weapon utility skills. I know the dev team had talked about improving the profession and we have seen some tweaks( improved movement speed on signet of the hunt and our aquaman status lol )but we need more. I hope we get some information in the coming weeks because honestly ANet has been very silent on Ranger improvements. To the OP I suggest what some others have mentioned try different builds out see what will work best for you, if you still haven’t found something you like try another profession. Hopefully things improve for us Ranger players soon.

From the experiences have had with my guild Guardians and Eles make for the best healers, our rangers are pretty good at it as well. It all comes down to how the player decides to build their characters too, try asking in map chat for somone proficient in healing to give you a hand in PvE questing.

A suggestion for champions as a fellow warrior player, go with the shield and sword combo. Great for defending and the sword is great for bleed stacking. Two guildies and I took out a champion giant the, entire fight I tanked him and did not get downed once. Our Ranger dropped aoe heals on me while the other warrior fought with his rifle. Try out different strategies Flett and find a good guild that will play with you.

Hey Flett welcome to GW2! I recently rolled a Charr Warrior and one thing I found very important in developing the character is toughness. If you don’t have good toughness you will be downed alot, I believe toughness falls under the Defense Trait line. Also the regen trait helps out in staying alive in battles. Check out different crests & medallions for your armor slots many of these can help improve power, crit, toughness, etc. As for champions GrandmaFunk has a valid point, they are meant for group activity not to say that it is impossible to down one solo but it’s generally easier with a group and even better when the group plays with a team mentality.

Yes ANet please, a sniper shot for us would be really useful and awesome.

GW2 has been one of my favorite games this year, I’ve been playing since launch and have been enjoying myself. It has a good community( my server is generally pretty cool )my guild is active so I always have a group but there are areas I hope ANet improves on. Better incentives for people to PvE some players don’t bother due to the drops not being that great especially for fighting Champions. An LFG tool for the dungeon crowd, improvements for WvW( incentives for guilds holding keeps and camps especially for the defense minded players )& better drops in WvW. Of course the things I’d like for ANet to improve on they have already announced plans for them I just hope things pan out. I would like for this game to have longevity, but for that to happen fixes will have to be made. That’s one of the things I love about it great game with a lot of potential.

Whenever I’m in WvW or running PvE with my guildmates I always equip my search and rescue skill just to have an extra healer for downed team members whether in my party or not. I even maxed my Ranger’s Beastmastery just so I could access the trait that makes my pets heal for more. I always have ran support, it’s a role I enjoy and playing as a ranger keeping a distance while fighting gives me a better view on who needs health once I spot them I heal if they’re downed I revive. Basically I’d like for the downed state to stay in game so that I can continue to support those in need.

I agree with much of what has been said player housing and more mini-games to keep us busy. Also I’d like to see more armor and weapon skins on the BLTC, I’m more than willing to spend money on gems but at the moment there is not enough in the BLTC that appeals to me. Other than that I’m excited about the January and February updates. More guild options would be nice, guild halls as well would be a good addition. Whatever happens I only hope they improve on the game in all aspects.

I like these posts the speculations on the relationship between the six and the elder dragons is always interesting. For myself I don’t view them as connected by similar powers but forces of power that are in opposition to one another. The Six came frm another realm bringing humans with them, for all we know the elder dragons could have been Tyria’s gods and the six could have disrupted what they built. Maybe they awoke to cleanse Tyria of mankind, while all the races have suffered men have taken the bulk of the damage drowned kingdoms, enslaved by an undead lich, etc. It could be the elder dragons want to take tyria back, it could be none of that. One thing I’m sure about is I do enjoy the lore with all the talk of the dragons and the six I always wonder about the giants did it ever explain what happened to them? What killed them off? Did they predate the six on Tyria? If so maybe they warred with the elder dragons and lost. Ah I love talking about the lore!

It’d be nice to hear something soon, my guild is sitting on our Influence as well. More options would be nice.

ANet I back you guys quite a bit, but wow this interview left much to be desired. My guild and I don’t sPvP we’re more of a WvW guild and we do feel this mode is being neglected. I hope more and better improvements do come along, I realize the game is still young and there is time for said improvements to be made. But please at least get paid guesting going soon, don’t leave the WvWorlders out we’re supporting you please support us as well.

I run a 2 man team with a glas cannon thief… I am a toughness guardian and she of course is the backstab thief.

Thiefs are anything but overpowerd… if she is lucky enough for the target to stand still ya she can get some dmg off at which point she will go down in around 3 hits. The only way she avoids this is when I pop every protection buff for her and take all the conditions off of her.

We have had a D/D elly solo us both (bypasses my toughness and once my boons are down I’m dead)
She cannot get the elly to stand still and if by some chance we get it below 25% hp they mist then rinse and repeat…

Now you get the elly with any other prof (could be a lvl 1 rock) and they will beat just about any combo we have thrown at them.

So no thiefs are not OP and are far from it… if you don’t like being hit for 287365259816 dmg then grab some toughness or a guardian friend to boon you.

Yeah this pretty much. I was QQing over thief’s for awhile until I buffed my toughness and one of my fellow guildies runs his Guardian with us in WvW now. Thief’s aren’t OP at all they are fast stealthy little buggers but that’s what their profession specializes in. Also the AOE advice against them does work, as well as stacking bleed, burn, poison. Does this mean a thief will never kill me again in WvW no way I expect to get downed by them just as I expect it from any other profession but now I at least know the strategy behind taking them down.
