yeah, that’s why they’re releasing 640 of them. they’re intended to be collected by everyone
State of Keg Brawl 2013
maybe it’s not supposed to be a collectible..?
State of Keg Brawl 2013
If you want it – enter.
It’s called limited edition for a reason.
I can understand how your ticked off if your after them all… But if you really can’t understand “limited edition” then your kinda screwed in real life stuff.
People are crying about this, really? Good lord. They are trying to reward skilled players whilst promoting pvp. Oh noes!
This playerbase needs to get a grip and drop the insane levels of self entitlement.
If anything they should introduce a great deal more content like this, skill based only, items/rewards that should only be available by winning spvp tournaments or soloing dungeons etc.
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Oh how dare they! Nothing is supposed to be exclusive in this game! What are they, entitled?! I want it I want it! ahem special snowflakes, speshul snofleks! (insert special snowflake joke here).
/sarcasm
I don’t have a problem with it and I collect minipets. The llama is for those who participated in the ToL, not for farming champ trains/boss blitz and buying it off the gemstore/TP. Adding it to a reward track in PvP is just lame since you progress through those whether you win or lose.
this 1000 times
give the PvPers SOMETHING special that doesn’t end up as a gem store release or a grindfest
because for some reason, i find winning a PvP tournament takes more skill than facerolling through PvE content and should be rewarded as such
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Every KB match rewards glory whether you lose or not; my rank points are going up along with spendable glory
Is this intended?
State of Keg Brawl 2013
bump please fix this
State of Keg Brawl 2013
thanks to anet for nerfing lobs, hopefully games will go smoother now
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Nerf head crack it’s too OP I guess, gg anet
State of Keg Brawl 2013
The problem is, for many of us, Keg Brawl was broken. Not the OP certainly, but I used to love Keg Brawl and due to the way the game was, I started to dislike it immensely. Sure the potential is there, but as it stood, Keg Brawl was an awful game.
It was not awful. It had its fair share of problems, but when you could convince both teams to stop lobbing and have a game using passes to your teammates and evasion techniques other than the classic ice and lob, it was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in GW2. I’ve played many games with PUNT guildies and other skilled players and the game is instantly more fun when you can play against adept opponents who are teamwork-based.
But taking it out of the game in it’s current form probably isn’t a bad idea, because they way it’s structured, it’s very very hard for new people to get into it (unlike most of the other minigame activities).
It’s hard for new players to get past the temptations to farm and lob, because that’s the first thing they see when they play for the first time. The game mechanics themselves are not that hard to grasp and most new players I’ve played games with grasp the techniques within a few games (when to dodge, the correct times to use your skills, etc) and actually become quite challenging and sometimes give me a run for my money. Players who are used to a PvP environment specifically excel at KB because they are used to timing their dodges correctly and using them more conservatively. The game is much more dynamic than other mini games, which may be what you’re referring to. Most intelligent players who are not expecting to repeat the same action every game will do fine at it
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Hello again.
I do not know, I came up with this extreme idea, where instead of giving mini-game an achievement system, which mostly encourage only to play mini-game only to complete them, why not to create some ,,tournament,, for each of specific minigame ? Since we have tournamets for Spvp why not to try this here ? After all, this is also some kind of PVP content, and maybe it should be treated as such ? The rewards could be some skins for PVP related to each minigame for instance Keg Brawl reminds me of american football so why not create skins simillar to this ? Let’s just make minigames as a coherent content with other activities.
This would be awesome to have tournament support for each mini-game, and it’s something PUNT has wanted for a while for KB, but the idea will keep getting shot down until mini-games have enough support for Anet to believe it’s worth it. They operate based on numbers and statistics instead of player enjoyment
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Anet DOES have the numbers of who plays and how much. They didn’t think it was worth keeping.
But why remove it when it’s already permanent? What makes it not worth keeping? Because there’s not a ton of people playing it? What did they expect to see without any support for their only permanent minigame?
I recall both Kiel and Gnashblade advertising the rotation of mini games because it would “make things more interesting” or something along those lines, feel free to provide the direct quote if you can find it, but the manner they chose to try to populate the game will only increase the concentration of farmers and lobbers. Going from a permanent fixture in the game to a rotation will NOT help KB in the way Anet is intending it to. Yes, it will populate the games more than previously on its rotation days. However, the population will have an increase of farmers and lobbers by percentage which will sour the gameplay.
This is taking a huge step backward in the progression of support for Keg Brawl. Yes, we don’t have the information and the numbers Anet has, but taking the game from a permanent mini-game to a rotated one makes literally no sense in terms of the quality of the gameplay. It’s going to turn into a cheap hotspot for achievement farming and become another minion of Anet’s reward system.
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Sorry I should have clarified, ‘the game’ in the context of the post was referring to Keg Brawl
State of Keg Brawl 2013
They could have just taken it out of the game completely. They’re giving it a chance. If enough people like it, they’ll keep it.
So because something isn’t as popular or successful as Anet intended they should completely remove it? That goes into a whole other argument.. it should NOT be removed completely after all the time and effort that went into developing it.
What chance are they giving it? I don’t get how it’s a privilege to be put on this rotation when it was previously a permanent addition to the game.
It just blows my mind why they would even think about removing it, even if this is just speculation on your part. What did they expect to get out of it? Is this goal somehow not met? Why remove it instead of trying to fix it?
But it will make it harder for people to just go and farm the achievements. I don’t see how you can plausibly deny that.
Look at what I posted before, the majority of newcomers and people who have played before will just farm everything because farmers are the majority in the game. Majority rules, unless you want to be the guy who runs to their spots outside of the fence and grabs their keg and throws it away. Especially with the addition of loot bags, players are more discouraged than ever to actually play the game and refrain from farming and lobbing. If you’re an achievement minded or loot minded player and couldn’t give less of a kitten about the mini game, it makes no sense to sit there and play full games without exploiting farms or lobs. It’s faster to lob your way to the end of the game to get your daily and the loot bag, or to farm your way to an easy 100+ achievement points. Based on my experience playing Keg Brawl, there are not too many players who actually played KB when it was permanent for the enjoyment and entertainment of it; without being focused on achievements. What will somehow make the player base in the ‘rotation version KB’ care about the mini game more than the rewards?
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Possibly true some of the time but not all of time. Again, Anet has the metrics, we do not. Anything we say is just our observations. I’m pretty sure if it was madly popular Anet wouldnt’ have done it.
If they’re going to invest the time to create a rotation for minigames and promote the rotation to their fanbase, you’d think they would invest the time to actually fix some of the games while they’re at it. I get that developing custom arenas would take a larger amount of time than they might want to spend on it, but atleast fix the kitten lobbing problem
State of Keg Brawl 2013
I’ve gone many times to keg brawl on days when it wasn’t on the dailies and spent time standing in an arena waiting for an opponent to show up.
Oftentimes this is because a game of 5v5 is full and you’re moved to your own new game, then the population of the other game drops and you’re basically waiting in your own instance for the other game to fill up again so joiners will be redirected to your game
Edit: Serelisk’s post hits the nail on the head. Because there’s a limited opportunity for the achievement farmers to get their KB achievements done, they’ll be concentrated to the time slot for KB’s rotation and will be packed into every game. This encourages players new to KB to farm because that’s the first thing they see and will think it’s the norm and it’s acceptable. Thus less people actually playing the game (by ratio at least)
Anet has done nothing to remedy this situation and actually fix the game to prevent or control this from happening. Instead of trying to fix the problems present in the game they only make them worse by packing all the farmers together for a 24 hour period

(edited by Dave.1905)
What makes you think the income of people will be genuinely interested in playing actual games? Knowing the current GW2 population people will learn about KB and immediately want to farm it because they see everyone else farming it. I didn’t even know about the Loot Bag rewards and this will only add to the problem. Pretty much the nail in the coffin, seeing as they have easy access to both loot and achievement points if they decide to say screw it to actually participating in the games as intended
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Keg brawl has been around since the beginning. SAB was a month long event that Anet spent countless hours into developing and promoting, making sure it would (at the very least) be the top priority for existing GW2 players to try. The rewards from SAB were skins that sold for decent amounts of money, achievement points, and other things that linked to the ‘real game’. It was a limited time event, so players who wanted the above rewards HAD to play it during the month it was available or be locked out forever. Of course it would get more attention, there is no comparison between SAB and Keg Brawl seeing that KB has been the small mini game that has no promotion and would be around forever (until this update atleast). I didn’t think twice about trying it myself until I was bored to tears one night with a friend and gave it a go out of the blue.
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Keg Brawl had 0 monetary rewards, the achievements were meaningless to those who played the game for fun and enjoyment, and those who played consistently for the sport of it were dedicated to the well-being of the minigame and its community
Why would Anet ever think this would be a good idea? You’re taking the game from its current state and plunging it straight into the ground with this rotation. Instead of getting more support in the form of customization and control over which games you join or maybe a balance patch, the game is instead limited to a timeframe which will most likely be dominated by farmers only looking to get easy achievements and get out.
I loved this game because it was the closest thing I could find to snowball in GW1, which promoted player skill and coordination between players in a small minigame format. Now it’s being reduced (even further) to a farm hotspot and further minimized to not even having its own permanent location
State of Keg Brawl 2013
it’s been around for a while and there’s no signs of it being fixed anytime soon
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Keep the achievements, remove the points associated with them
Or give us the d amn custom arenas so we can set up matches for those who want to actually play the game
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Man this build is gonna kill my bank lmao
Anyway thanks for your input you two it really helped
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Yeah I think precision food is necessary to bump up crit chance. Would you recommend stacking bloodlust for solo roaming or just going with a force sigil? I know there’s a point where force stops being better but I don’t know exactly where that is or if I’ll consistently come close to it while solo/small group roaming.
Food would be Plate of Truffle Steak and Master/Potent Master Maintenance Oil? Would that be overkill for precision?
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Sounds good, I think I’ll swap the chestpiece for a Knight’s piece. I never saw Signet of Air has a stun break, I’ll play around with it. Just for reference, what are the names of the food I should be using?
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Figures those specs are the ones I have the most trouble with in PvP. I get what you mean about not having enough counter. That’s the biggest problem I face in tPvP, how to deal with constant pressure and when to swap in and out of water. I’ll improve over time with experience but I realize there’s some situations you’re just build wars’d out of
I appreciate the feedback
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Thanks for the quick response
I’m used to playing with 30 arcana and the elemental from sPvP but I can play around with FGS too. I’ve seen it in a few videos and it looks really fun in the right situations
What’s not working in Air Training? I was unaware it wasn’t working properly
With the condi meta atm do you think the crit chance is worth the HP loss? How expensive does the food get to be using it consistently in WvW?
State of Keg Brawl 2013
After many hours of theorycrafting and research I’ve come up with the following 0/30/0/10/30 build for WvW..
Few things I’d like to point out:
The backpiece is as close to the yellow flower thing as I could get (which is what I’ll probably be using)
Crit chance is lower than other builds but I can live with that
I was trying to keep power high while keeping toughness as close to 1600 and hp as close to 16k as I could
Trying to see what I can do without using celestial pieces (it’s not like I can’t use them but I wanted to try to focus stats)
With that being said, please critique the build or give me any pointers. I’ve played S/D in tPvP for a while but the customization there is very limited compared to WvW and PvE
Thanks, Dave

Keg brawl is a horrible mini game. It is so broken it’s hilarious you can throw the keg from the middle to your npc that is how broken it is. Anet is understaffed so I don’t expect the bugs in it to be fixed anytime soon
People keep saying that like it’s easy to do. It really isn’t. Yes, you can practice the angle and get it down, but you’ve still got people trying to stop you, and it’s not a short cast.
there is a low skill cap in doing this, you basically make your move to dodge the crowd and give yourself enough of a gap to lob
classic lobber move is to pop ice and let it rip, easy as hell to do
it takes much more skill and coordination to actually pass to your teammates and drive down the field to score
think of it as the guy who can make full court shots every time in basketball, its just boring as hell to play against

but its not like you can only do the target of the zaishen stuff on the quest day
the zaishen stuff is basically the gw2 daily
State of Keg Brawl 2013
yes it does have lots of problems in its current state, making it temporary almost completely eliminates the chance of it receiving any kind of improvement
going from a permanent minigame to a minigame rotated in every few days further minimizes the amount anet gives a f uck
State of Keg Brawl 2013
I played the ‘skillz’ games in GW1 (specifically Dwayna vs Grenth arena and especially the AT’s) and enjoyed the tactics and micro abilities those types of games brought. Keg Brawl in GW2 is very similar to those games and has a similar experience of using your skill and micro ability to win games and be competitive. However, achievement farming has run rampant in the game and it’s common to see full games of 9-10 players farming for achievements for hours on end. For people who come to actually play the game, this is very annoying, especially when you’re the bad guy for ‘stealing’ the kegs from the farmers at the beginning and actually attempting to score. I’ve seen people flat out afk hoping for wins, pressing a button every few minutes
If anet were to implement some form of structure (PvP game browser, custom arenas?) for the game where you could control which skills can or can’t be used (addresses lobbing) and can remove players at popular request or by command of the arena owner, players can play actual games while farmers can farm if that’s what they’d like to do. Yes, this will probably be shot down because Keg Brawl isn’t a very popular game, but the issues it does have often stops regular gameplay and sours the format in general
State of Keg Brawl 2013
did anet remove the sound of the keg being launched from the ramp? im not hearing it
the massive keg spawn problem is fixed yes

hopefully they fix this, the game is unplayable atm

if you pvp’d for a while without caring what you look like you can easily craft the armor you want.
what do you mean by you cant customize your stats?

I’m looking for a dedicated tPvP guild/team that can play somewhat actively around the 8-11 PM EST timeframe. I played with a team before but they’ve since quit the game and the guild has gone inactive.
I’m r29, play on AR, 182 tournament wins, 55qp before they removed paids.. I currently play ranger most often but can play ele, thief, and war as well
Always trying to improve, playing about 5 tourneys a day when I have time

because it is a worthless command that proves nothing?
How does this differ from other commands in WvW?
State of Keg Brawl 2013
Sorry if this has been asked before but I can’t see why they would disable the command in WvW if it works in PvE
