Is this build still viable?

This was basically the build I was running except my accessories and rings were zerk/valk. Dps test for staff though came out higher with marauder. Staff however is more consistent dps compared to dp burst, but I think you’ll still be hitting harder with auto on marauder.
Normally Direct damage Thieves run a mix of Marauder and Zerker, which provides overall better stats, the increased Vitality is huge when you have no Toughness you can easily be hit for 10-15k on single Attacks from multiple classes. And with Marauder you have significantly more crit chance so on average you will be doing more damage hands down.
So with Marauder you have more vitality and more damage.
This build will provide overall better reliability with on average more damage and more health.
It’s only -114 power, +82 vitality, + 27.05 crit chance, – 14% crit damage. And if you run Sigil of Leeching you can recoup quite a bit more health from it than you would from You Valk build, which would increase your damage as well.
And if you factor in food and utilities this increases the efficacy of Marauder even more
I really like this build and read somewhere that 65% with signet is optimal which comes in handy for pve too. I’ve been playing a lot of staff d/p and am realizing that consistent crits on staff are more important.
It’s similar to builds I run In WvW and in most content it’s a good all around build, that can be used with multiple weapons, there are other effective gear setups as well, I just prefer this for the versatility it provides, I normally run more Berserker pieces in it but that’s my personal preference.
It’s a great build (just dps tested myself) and I’m looking forward to completing a few more ascended pieces for it. Thanks a lot ^^.
No problem any time, I am currently going to test a Build using Marauder/Zerker Vampirism Runes, Sigil of Blood, Sigil of Draining and the 66% chance lifesteal on crit with 70 Power food.

Friend told me that marauders is the way to go now (I stopped playing for awhile), but wanted to get some extra opinions because I still don’t understand how it’s better than a mix of valk armor and zerk trinkets/weapons. Although I do know you’re getting more stats with marauders, the power/crit dmg loss seems like a lot. I guess what my main question in this is also whether or not it’s worth it to lose power to gain precision since both valk and zerk are mainstat power giving you the most possible. I’m getting 59% crit chance after steal which seems like enough, but hoping some people could hit me with some math. I also didn’t include food buffs in the build editor just to make something quick

Looking to play with decent players. Chrono, Thief dps, PS Warrior.
I’ve just recently come back to the game after a year and half break and wanted to get into some GvG which I haven’t experienced. Although I lack experience, I’m a quick learner and have spent most of my time in pvp and duel arenas on thief. I can play any type of thief along with the meta builds for guard and mes. Would appreciate a testing period if asked to join so I can gauge the groups skill level along with my own in comparison, tyvm.
rifle thief is laziness on anets part to not want to create a third skill for all the other weapons which is really sad. Make a 1h weapon for thief so we can get some diversity from dp kitten
I’m not bragging about how my server picks are t1 because I hate t1 wvw since I prefer roaming and it’s just a major zergfest. When I first bought gw2 I chose black gate SOLELY because I liked the name and boom! #1 in wvw! Then at another point to finish my legendary (because I forgot to get the poi’s in wvw) I switched to JQ just to get them and then pow! They took #1 spot. After reading on the forums about how great roaming is on t2 about a year ago I picked Yaks Bend. Log in today, bam! #1! Pay for my server transfer?

happy I don’t have to wait for my hom rewards, decided not to get HoT and play some of the better mmos out there lol
feline grace got nerfed so thought it was best to find a new game. Only play styles being promoted in pvp are crutch builds. I’d repeat some of the great ideas said on these forums on how to make thief better, promoting skill based play, but that would be a waste of time since nothing will actually change lol.
Edit: to those who are posting ideas, don’t waste your time just find a better game. There’s a lot more out there.
glad people are speaking up for the loss of sd, the only TRUE form of thief play style in my opinion. It goes so well with a real thief players mentality of taking no advantages, and focusing on mechanics. We’ll miss you and thanks for speaking up, but the devs won’t listen.
Just linked my account recently and have been looking forward to getting the skins. Unfortunately it’s been like this for awhile and I really really am getting impatient. I know theres a lot for anet to sort out in terms of the titles/ap and it’s not a #1 priority at the moment, but I’d like to know a potential date when this will be back up. after seeing new build available I went to download it. Now when I open it, it will show that it’s downloading the patch, but will frequently stop (it’s also downloading at a pretty low kb/sec around 40ish). When it stops it just sits at 0kb/sec and does nothing. Help?

When I try to start the game, the usual screen shows up where it shows downloading progress, however it remains at 0kb 0kb/sec without giving the option to log in or anything. Help?
Edit: And a second after I post this it starts downloading after waiting like 15 minutes -.-
Seeing everyone take the stealth side makes me a little depressed. I would like to see more thieves excelling without stealth.

i feel like your just saying this to feel original in someway when its really not. ofcourse stealth can be considered “op” but a thinking person would realize to compensate for our low natural defenses (a squishy melee) our abilities lie in evasion. Its easily countered with aoe. If you wanna just talk about pve thief sure u can play that without stealth have fun plz dont bring that into these kind of discussions though as its pretty meaningless since your not even a thief at that point. You signed up to be a “thief” a character who uses the shadows to his advantage. Anyway back to the original post, In my opinion d/p is a very solid choice for people starting out with lots of surviveability (mistakes can be made). In wvw people tend to run… A LOT, and so with your kit you have infinite chase potential without much need for positioning. However, d/d thief is what i’ve come to see as a true thiefs kit in terms of skill and damage and hope to master myself. Its strength is the ability to permanently stealth within multiple enemies without heavy reliance on initiative(about to get nerfed for dp) with tons of burst. I think both weapon sets are very strong but most people preffer d/p because d/d takes a lot more skill
