don’t legendary defenders in wvw do like 10 million damage a shot?
I liked it up until fractal 8 or so. It’s now on my list of “if I get this fractal as the first one im just going back to the bloody lab and retrying”
Not even the difficulty (usually) it’s just far longer than almost any other fractal without added loot.
This, so much this. That fractal is just too kitten long. My suggestion would be just to get rid of the head and chest seals and remove the archdiviner altogether. The hardest part would remain the arm seals and given the difficulty I have had getting people to work together to complete it that fight deserves to be the boss fight.
Just wanted to add that engineer offhand shield can reflect, too. And from experience I can say bosses DO take agony damage from their own attacks.
Ok finished a lv 20 now with 3 boss where u can avoid agony. But at last no ring drop…
could be worse. You could spend hours dragging a pug through 22 end up with a ring, run over buy a 225 fractal shard infusion throw it in there only to find out it isn’t and infused ring.
It’s a crappy event. About the only reason worth doing it is the really nice power/toughness/vitality karma trinkets he sells once you complete it.
you can pretty easily heal through the ground quake damage since it should be the only damage you take during the entire fight. If you aren’t already running it yet slot a skill that gives immunity/dispersion. It makes agony a heck of a lot more manageable.
Didn’t really understand the whole leveling thing for this game, myself. With such a commitment to the game being as accessible as possible why does my character have to reach a certain level before entering some of the zones?
I gotta say mini-dungeons and mini-pvp sound like they would be pretty awesome.
the rings are account bound. While it’s not exactly optimal you can get another shot by using an alt..
just keep trying
or play some counterstrike with me
Eh, it’s kind of a good idea… on paper. It’s basically a soft cap on progression until they release new gear. Implementation, however, sucks.
Name change should have been in the total makeover – especially since gender change is included! People should be allowed to choose new names for themselves if they change sex!
nah. People know each other by their names. It’s not the same as appearance. If you allow characters to change names it will become harder to tell which of the more or less reputable folks on your server are.
Fractals are a total mess. We told you it would happen and there are some workarounds available but there are some problems. you really can’t ignore. The shear number of different difficulty levels, the lack of a dungeon finder and putting it smack dab in Lion’s Arch are all causing some difficulties. I will outline my solutions in the order I find most effective:
1. Implement a LFG Dungeon finder- Been said before. There’s a link in these here forums that made their own but one in game would have a lot more use and hopefully be more effective.
2. Allow players to travel to overflow at will – This is probably the easiest solution. Players end up stuck on their own server during off-peak hours and on low population servers. This makes it even harder to get a group for an already complicated dungeon. The current LFG site workaround does not help when players on different servers cannot escape their own Lion’s Arch.
3. Move the fractals out of Lion’s Arch – This way it could be like other dungeons where the only difficulty for cross server groups is if the dungeon is randomly closed for god knows what reason.
definitely want to reevaluate the length of the dredge dungeon, cliffside and the mad asura one before fixing the “exploits” people are using to make some of them closer to on -par timewise with other fractals.
Dredge: The “midboss” isn’t difficult but has so much health this takes forever.
Cliffside: This instance is long. Very very long. The archdiviner isn’t difficult but has so much health he takes a long time to kill.
asura: frequency on harpy knockback is really high. The champion shaman and ettin guy just have a ton of hp. Not a very difficult fight but loooooooooooooong.

I just find it funny that YB camping a JP is such a rare event that you have to create a thread about it. I just take it for granted that TC and/or CD are going to be camping 24/7.
Thought I might shed some light on which supplies end up where so you can better plan your attacks/defenses. The map is rather crude since I have absolutely no drawing skill. Squares are supply camps and circles represent where the supply is delivered to.
not the only way to progress but with the increase in mob hp/toughness it takes a considerable amount of time to make any progress. The colossus starting guy for example still takes ~10 minutes of spamming him from the rock to drop him to low enough hp for someone to trigger the event.
Haha, wow. GSSBlunaspike.4153, have you ever PvPed? Downed thieves and mesmers are deadlier than ones standing up.
Let us join overflow at will. If you aren’t going to create a decent LFG tool at least let us join players in other servers to do the specific level of dungeon difficulty we want to do.
it’s one of the more simple/easy ways to discourage botting

The price of gems is going to keep going up because there’s pretty much no major gold sink. Repair costs are covered by selling one green or two blues, waypoints are about the most expensive thing but if you play smart and use wvw to move back to LA you only end up paying for one direction of travel. There’s a lot of gold in the economy and it’s only going to increase.
A higher gem price also has the (un)intended benefit of allowing late joiners to reach gold levels established players were able to at real world expense. Frankly, them having more money can only affect me positively as they are more willing to pay higher prices for the goods I put on the market. Eventually their gold they buy becomes mine through shrewd market use.
Save it till you get 4 terrible ones and see if you can throw them in the forge for a better one >.>
(I have no idea if this actually works)
Try and do every event you can. The rewards are generally a little better than hearts.
Go to your settings and disable melee assist, enable autoloot and disable double tap dodge.
D/D elemental is the current godmode class if you want to fotm.
That’s odd. I had my first set of exotics within the first two weeks. What’re you waiting for?
Eh, I’ve been doing the fractals and using the rings I got from them and upgraded them with the infusions you buy with fractal currency but I ain’t buying the backpacks. In fact, I have been selling all the mats for the backpacks I had lying around because the prices are so dang high. Maybe in a month or two I might care enough for the backpack but right now, meh.
It’s not hard. Just tell people beforehand that you will only rez them twice. Any more than that they stay dead. The same applies to you. You absolutely cannot waste time rezzing people during this fight.
I ended up 2 manning this earlier today because everyone is incompetent and cannot dodge bombs.
Try using pistol offhand. Pistol 5 gives a smoke field that blinds everything for ~3 secs for 5 initiative and you can use combo finishers in it for ranged blinds or my favorite even more stealth.
ectos price is up because of the ascended gear. As more people get the 300 ectos they need for infused ascended the price will drop again.
Hi, hobbes. Let me introduce you to engineers. I throw 3 grenades at a time that crit for up to 1.2k each but at my downed state I am reduced to throwing 300 dmg rocks. My other ability is to pull an enemy closer to me and I’m not sure what my 3rd ability does because I never live the randomly huge amount of time it takes to activate it.
The downed states in general need to be reevaluated. These two are definitely the most powerful because they allow classes to get back into the fight immediately rather than forcing a 5 minute walk from spawn that every other class faces upon defeat outside tower walls.
nah, you don’t seem to understand. If you take the northernmost towers the defenders can put up siege on the cliffs immediately outside their spawn to knock down your gate/walls and stand safely inside the invulnerability safe zone to defend them. Your team literally has to suicide rush up a cliff while getting spammed by AoEs from invincible defenders to take out the siege.
There’s a couple specific situations I’ve had where the spawn invulnerability can be abused like sieging up right outside spawn at the citiadels on the borderlands to take the towers. Especially the west tower. When the only way to kill the siege they set up is to suicide run up a cliff past invincible defenders spamming you it’s a little lame.
I have the exact opposite problem. I find myself hoping more people will log onto my home server so I can look for groups in my specific difficulty level of Fractals of the Mist. It’s ridiculously complicated and would be made a lot easier by giving us a decent LFG tool.
it’s already a dead zone
this was the arbitrary gating mechanic we complained about before release. It has turned out to be as annoying and unnecessarily restrictive as we pointed out.
D/D ele right now is like Jesus but immune to nails
Make spending money on upgrades an achievement. People will fall over themselves to throw money at it then.
Large guilds are learning that they can always be on the winning team if they all hop servers. FA just got like 200+ people doing this.
The biggest problem, to me, with this mechanic is that as players have greater access to more powerful gear and just plain get better the already comparatively weak NPC guards become more of a liability than an asset. Defending camps is already pretty tough without having to worry about the enemy constantly rallying from suicidal guards.
From what I can tell thief max range is only 900 so I’m not sure if that would factor into your decision making.
yeah, losing track of my cursor is terrible when I’m slinging nades. We could definitely use something more visible.l
Hey TC. Some of you seem like decent people. YB can’t put the numbers up anywhere so I’d love for us to work together to keep CD from camping the jumping puzzles but there seems to be plenty of you intent on being just as worthless as CD. We don’t have any chance of matching your numbers so help us keep these griefers down.
Mesmer portals are stupid powerful for WvW. You can literally move an entire server of WvW players to wherever in an instant. With a mesmer at each front you could have your entire server just sit in your home camp wait for them to call an inc and have 190+ people show up in an instant to stomp them and be back to the home camp ready to portal wherever else they’re needed.
I took out ~8 golems attempting to rush the west BL keep the other day by finishing building the oil and torching them. It was beautiful.
leveling speed is kind of out of whack. Especially at the start. Your best bet is to take up crafting and get some levels there but you will probably need to hit up another starter zone to catch up on levels.
It becomes a pretty big factor in WvW. One player “enters combat” to apply a cripple/freeze/snare while another can just easily catch up to them since they are “not in combat”
turning around to apply your own slows/snares just puts you in combat and makes it easier for the people behind them to just noncombat speed waltz up to you.
I feel like a noob now

didn’t know attunement swapping was considered a weapon swap, that alone there is insanely powerful I take it that counts for engi’s as well.
nope. engis are redheaded stepchildren. Even our weapon stats don’t help when we have kits equipped.
mesmers can summon an army of clones to whittle you away while they dodge, turn invincible, turn invisible then dodge some more.
elementalists are crazy tanky with a couple talents that give you several seconds of invincibility when you reach a certain % of hp and they can heal themselves back up super easy. Oh and swapping attunements counts as a weapon swap so you can abuse some of the weapon swap sigils like crazy (Hello near unlimited stamina!)
necros…. idk much about this class they seem easier to kill than most.

give numbers and give a location.
don’t always expect people to show up
