OP – It’s not my intention to be rude, but in all honesty, I’m very glad you’re not on the balance team.
Character Name: Bomb Tom
Does MMR Hell exist: No
Current Division: Legendary
Where I think I belong: Legendary
I feel the same way Sooloo. Good thing is, I can make a post like this and if they don’t agree I just go back to my life. No skin off my nose. They are obviously very convinced that the system is stacked against them.
There’s simply no way it’s due to their skill level. It’s not like we’ve seen Ithilwen’s gameplay video and know that there are many areas that could use improvement. /s
The people who complain about this are the same people in every thread… A VERY vocal minority. I’ll fade into the background again, refusing to post. Because I just get people like bLind quote and try to defeat every thing I say. If y’all want to message me in-game, let’s hop into some unranked and voice comms – we can try and identify areas to improve and hopefully it’ll help.
… if it’ll help you “win a few games more than you would have” – why not? Sounds like a good plan to me. Who doesn’t want to win more?
Because let’s face it, you’re not going to “beat the system”, but you can crush every 1v1 and 1v2 you get into, vastly increasing your odds of winning (especially in Sapphire).
Hi Ithilwen. I’m a long-time PvP forum lurker, rare poster. I’ve seen many of your threads and finally had some time to sit down and respond.
I understand your plight, maybe not from personal experience (I.e. tanked mmr), but I see where you are coming from. The poster above has a good point. It’s important to play when there are more players online. Regardless of one’s personal convictions about the MMR system, I think it’s fairly obvious that it is important to play when more people are queuing. Not only do you get much more bearable queue times, but your matches tend to be more even due to a higher player population.
The next point I want to bring up: does matchmaking really force onesided match-ups? Well, the answer is that we as the players do not truly know. We can provide personal experience to back our claims, but we do not know for a fact. Your personal experience would suggest that MMR hell is a real thing, and that most games are decided before you leave spawn. I would argue that sometimes this may be the case, especially when the mm system is making all sorts of decisions to make “throwing games together” quicker – we are bound to have some “unfair” games. I understand that this isn’t your complaint. Instead you feel all games are this way.
Although I have had a drastically different experience in PvP than you (based on your pictures, gameplay video, and posts), I can’t say you are wrong to feel upset. However, I would argue that someone whose MMR was lower than it should be would be able to outplay many of their opponents, and in the long-run be able to reverse losing streaks. Over 500 games this season with similar results suggests to me that your MMR may be very close to where it should be.
Just my two cents.
The guardian’s main counters are Rev/Reaper… Just wanted to point that out. I know this is all based on your personal experience, but Reapers should dominate DHs.
I like the idea of a title track of sorts, that increments when you continue to achieve legend, season after season. I have a couple ideas for the titles:
(1) Primordial Legend
(2) Exalted Legend
+
(3) Ascended Legend
(4) Fabled Legend
(5) Mythical Legend
IGN: Diasozo Zu Heltzer
Thief Type: Artisan
Server: Henge of Denravi
Experience with thief:
Played Thief and Guardian almost exclusively since pre-launch, although I have experience with Warrior and Elementalist as well. I enjoy playing all types of thief builds, and am always looking for ways to push my stats in Pve/WvW. Love to try out new things in sPvP. I put Artisan in the thief type above because that is probably the best descriptor out of those I had to choose from (although, I do enjoy teaching and am a “student” too!).
Looking forward to joining a thief community!

There is no way I can choose just one thing I’m most looking forward to…
There are a few things I’m excited for with HoT:
1) Fractal re-work
2) New legendaries (weapons and back pieces)
3) The oh-so-mysterious Challenging Group Content
I’ve enjoyed the Guild Wars universe for over 10 years now (been playing since pre-launch Guild Wars 1), and I’m looking forward to 10 more!
Here’s to the imminent success with HoT! Cheers!
Meteorlogicus may not have an aura, but it has some pretty amazing footfalls. Look at some of the other legendaries like Flameseeker Prophecies… No footfalls, no aura.
I don’t have either of those legendaries, so I am not biased in that way. I’m just saying when you are slightly upset about a specific legendary’s current graphic situation, know that there are others who are probably a little bit worse off (and some that are better off, surely) than you.
Two that I can think of that are worse off right now: Flameseeker, the Minstrel.
That doesn’t even include the vast majority of underwater legendaries which are not only slightly subpar graphically (my opinion obviously), but are only used in a portion of the game that has gone by the wayside (b/c honestly underwater combat needs some love from the designers, which would increase the demand/desire for those UW legendary skins).
AKA – there are a lot of issues that still need some work..
I have been looking for a way to learn the ‘ins and outs’ of fractals for a while. You mean to tell me I can join [Noob] and eventually help teach fractals? I’m on personal reward level 20 with 25 AR, so I know fractals decently. Would love to get to know them more on my way to getting the infused fractal capacitor.
It’s also important to note that the Experimental Remnant is not usable in WvW.

Hey there-
After they removed jugs of karma as a daily achievement reward, karma is much harder to get.
105k karma > 7g.
7g is a couple dungeon paths, 105k karma is a couple days worth of events. So it’s up to you, but I would say it’s not worth it.

Just thought that it might be really cool if what Scarlet has found is the location for our next new permanent dungeon.
I for one would greatly appreciate having a new permanent dungeon. It could have its own dungeon tokens, with new armor and weapon skins, and even have LS-related paths like the Aetherblade TA path.
Anywho, just an idea… Either that, or she has found the lost Dwarven civilization that is currently thriving in subterranean LA. Or she has found old Asuran underground passageways like from EoTN that lead to the Central Transfer Chamber…
The possibilities are exciting! Hopefully, they actually ARE exciting… After all, the devs have stated that the end of the current LS arch is supposed to be “epic”.
Loved the video dude!
Did you have D/D, and then S/P on the weapon swap?
If so, there was a time when you were trying to get a stomp off on the ele at around 4:40 and the warrior was dealing lots of dmg. Could you have maybe used black powder to blind him while you got the stomp off?
I dunno, I am kinda a noob when it comes to skirmishing outnumbered in WvW, it was just a thought I had
Great job.. Loving the footage.
So, I don’t know if this is going to get seen in the giant pile of posts, but I have always thought it might be a cool idea if living story instances/cutscenes/“the campaign of Guild Wars 2” were repeatable in a way.
For all of the people who loved the content, or for all of the people who weren’t able to experience the content.
The “My Story” tab in the hero panel is a fantastic piece to the PvE aspect of the game, where we can currently see what our hero has done. Wouldn’t it be awesome if this section of the hero panel allowed players to “replay” cinematic cutscenes or re-enter dungeons with friends? Maybe make it like a quest log of sorts, where it becomes a hub for current living story updates, and past events (that can be experienced).
I am kinda thinking like your Hero’s Personal Journal, that allows them to dip back into the future and re-live past events.
I think this might solve the problem of people being frustrated that the episodic content passes by to never return (whether they got to play it or not).
I also understand that people will want to be rewarded for experiencing it live… So, I might suggest to only provide the “this special backpiece/title/minipet/whatever” when the players complete it if it’s current. I know many friends who don’t really mind missing out on little items here and there, but are really bummed to know that the content they missed is forever gone.
After all, these events are very well done, why put them in the game just to remove them later? It seems like wasted effort, and reduces the total content that GW2 really spans.
I like to think of it like this: When shows air episodes they release them later so you can watch them whenever (disc sets, Season 1 of ____), or on Netflix where you can stream them whenever.
Just a thought. (Sorry for the long post, this is near and dear to my heart)
Looks like I'm gonna be deleting items

I’m not a prophet or anything, but I am pretty sure the answer to your frustration will be “tough luck”.
If it means anything though, I feel you. I’m sorry.
I know that for one of my character’s soulbound items, it was not possible to remove the item from my bank as my other character. I would recommend planning on the final mystic forge use to be on the character which Twilight is soulbound to.
In WvW a couple friends and I took turns dueling a warrior from Ehmry Bay who was a very strong PvPer with an incredible build. I faced him as my guardian and both duels lasted more than 5min (5:10, 6:30) and I do not use AH.
So, you do NOT need AH to “last more than 3 seconds”. Quite a bit of the guardian’s survivability comes from how you play, when you dodge, when you burst your virtues, etc.
Know that you do not need to go full support/healing to be useful as a guardian, neither do you need to stack only defense/healing.
Hey guys, currently out of town on a business trip and unable to log in and play for the instances/mini missions. Are these missions going to be available for a little while? Or are they only a couple days each?
Would love to be able to participate this coming weekend :/
P.S. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. I promise I looked first and couldn’t find the answer…
Glass cannons are characters spec’ed into ALL damage and no defense. Hit hard like a cannon, but shatter like glass.
I would recommend, as a character in full exotics, lvl 80, full map, whatever else, to continue running in groups. Even as “legendary” as you think I may be, outnumber = advantage.
I also recommend leveling to 80. It doesn’t take long at all. Hunt down heart completions and you can easily level once an hour. Hitting level 80 definitely matters!!
Eh. Fixed, I got the mercenary title last night by playing a little more. Guess Tier 10/10 doesn’t actually mean I have gotten all the points yet. 48,500 pts are required to get the title!
I have reached the 48,000/48,000 rank points required to achieve the Mercenary title. However, the title icon at the end of the filled bar is still grayed out.
My account screen doesn’t show that I am a Dolyak yet either (I’m about 2/3 through level 20 in PvP), and the Mercenary title hasn’t been rewarded.
I think they may be linked, because both aren’t happening like they should. Any tips? Any solutions?
I have tried playing more games and earning glory, but this glory doesn’t push me over to achieve the title like I thought it would. Currently, I am taking a break from playing more PvP so I don’t waste rank points from Pvp play-time that isn’t counting.
Thanks in advance.
I think that the concept of an elemental caster (even though it’s just wind) is too similar to the elementalist to be implemented sadly.
One of the main reasons I say this, is so that people who spend the time in PvP to max that “title track” can actually have the prestige they deserve. I know a lot of people play PvP for prestige and infamy…
Hey guys-
Don’t know if this has been brought up before, but I thought it would be important to note.
I was in my Hero tab the other day and noticed that the top title for PvP points/score accumulated that you can achieve is “Ascendant”, one above Mist Walker in the PvP Conqueror tab. This is the exact same title for having earned 25 Points in the GW1 Hall of Monuments.
Is this something that is going to be changed? I assume so, because having maxed out PvP score in terms of titles in GW2 should be differentiated from having earned 25 pts in GW1 HoM.
Thanks!
