Quality of Life Improvements to Traits

I’d like to see trait and gear ‘builds’. Why is it spvp gets these things but WvWvW doesn’t? Why is it assumed that whatever PvE build and gear I’ve been running is the most appropriate for WvWvW? I’ve not bothered with PvP in many games, as on the whole I just haven’t enjoyed it. I really thought I might have enjoyed WvWvW in GW2, then possibly also tried the sPvP, but I really don’t want to have to manually switch traits and gear all the time, so I just gave up on everything except PvE. I’d like to be able to swap setups per encounter in PvE as I see fit (especially solo play vs group play builds), but I’m not going to do it manually all the time. Just feels so clumsly implemented.

Event did not trigger on overflow server [merged threads]

was in an event on Aurora Glade (for about 1 minute), got disconnected, as did the rest of my party. On logging in again, no event in new instance…

One-time events don't belong in MMORPGs.

I feel they need to stop trying to concentrate the whole player base into one place for a one-time event. Why do the events have to be one-time? Just design them so they’re not one-time and can run at least a week. A lot of people are not enjoying the events currently.
- there is confusion about what time the events occur, because there is insufficient in-game information (see this thread suggestion https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Add-start-times-to-in-game-quest-information/first#post770078 ).
- events don’t seem to work the same way as personal story quests, leading to more confusion. A personal story quest has green markers for your next step. This event has multiple gold markers that don’t seem to have any relevance to the next step, and aren’t disappearing when my character has interacted with an NPC.
- events have showstopper bugs in multiple places and the fix cycle for them is far too slow, which is of course made worse by the short amount of time the events run for, and the massive amount of hype around them being ‘one-time’ only
- there isn’t one place for communication updates that has all information and is current. Assuming the forums are supposed to be the ‘source’ of information, then Twitter updates should be available here as well. If ArenaNet insists on using several social media streams to randomly communicate event information, they need to integrate them into the game, I’m not going to set up and monitor 3 separate social media accounts just to play a game. Absolutely ridiculous.

Publish event dates significantly in advance

Some of us have weekends booked way in advance. You’ll get more participation in your one-off events if you publish the dates significantly further in advance than you currently do. We don’t need all the details, just which dates are going to be events.

Add start times to in-game quest information

Where quests/events are time specific, please put the headline in-game at the top of the screen a few days before they start, and include the local time. It’s already possible to select local time on the in-game clock, so it this shouldn’t be a massive ask. This should help reduce the amount of spam in map chat regarding start times, and all the misinformation that occurs due to a lot of us having to convert the time zone information you use in your announcements.

Also, it is beyond ridiculous that we have to look at these forums, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit when stuff goes wrong, as we never know which one we’ll find the information on. That isn’t a media strategy, that’s a company that is a media victim and is dragging it’s customers through the problems with it. If you implement an in-game system with times on it for event quests, then you could use that to notify us of updates.

Finding this really annoying myself. I’ll check the TP when I want, and would prefer not to have the annoyance of the red marker. Please add an option for us to opt out.

Halloween Phase 4 Heads Up

I’m quite disappointed the dungeon is gone with so little warning. I’ve had a bunch of teaser emails during the event, but not one that I can find that mentioned the dungeon was being removed with the start of Act 4. I’m a casual player, and had expected the content to stay in place until the end of the whole event, as it appears every other part of the event has!

I think you should consider your communication strategy. I feel like I need to monitor Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, emails, your teaser pages, and the official forum to have any chance of not missing information. I simply don’t have time, nor do I wish to sift through all the other players various comments just to find the few official items buried amongst the general social meanderings of your fans. Please can we have ONE place to get all the information.

Part of the problem is the way the official times get quoted. Why is it so hard to acknowledge the European playerbase and just quote the times when quoting the American time?

Why even filter, just automatically show me only the items relevant to my character class, and let me switch that filter off, IF I want to.

The whole dye system needs help in my view. I bought a couple of dyes from the Trading Post, when applied they looked nothing like they did in the TINY preview swatch on the Trading Post. Who wants to go through page after page of them looking for a shade of red they like, only to buy it and find it looks brown when applied?

I won’t be buying any more in a hurry, now I just wait for drops.

Also, what is the point in having 400 dyes if there is no reasonable way of finding the colours on the Trading Post? Sub-divide them in some way on the TP, maybe ‘reds’, ‘blues’ etc.

Guild Improvements

I agree with most of this, but in particular:
- please allow MoTD to be edited
- officer chat. This game already causes me a lot more admin around guilds due to the amount I end up explaining about representation, we could really do without having to whisper multiple officers the same thing to get a message across. We do use Voicechat, but not everyone is able to use it all the time (nor should they have to)
- auto-represent the first character on an account to join a guild AND all other characters whilst the account is only in one guild. Add some tutorials/tooltips to explain representation, it’s poorly understood, and guild leaders would like some time to play, not have to type so much to guild members about this stuff.
- data on when a guild member last represented the guild, and what percentage of their playing time they represent the guild. Currently I make all our guild members aware at outset that we’re not interested in guild members that wish to be in multiple guilds. The current system means that officers form subjective opinions on whether members are ‘active’ members of our guild, it would be much better if we had statistics.

I don’t think these have been mentioned yet:
- add fields for entering the guild’s website and voicechat information, currently I have to retype the website information into every MoTD as even established members ask for it for time to time
- on our website I’ve added a script that allows guild members to connect to Mumble (the voicechat system we use) by clicking a button. Without this system we lose a ridiculous amount of time explaining to new members how to log into it. Even with a full page of step by step instructions people still regularly fail to set it up, yet generally the auto-connect script works. It’s not Mumble itself, we’ve had the same experience with other chat systems. Supporting someone via in-game chat to get set up on a voicechat system generally involves a fair amount of typing. It would be really helpful to have this type of auto-connect feature added into guilds. I’m not suggesting we be allowed to add scripts to GW2 so much, I’m thinking the scripts for the main voicechat systems (Mumble, Teamspeak, Ventrilo spring to mind) could be integrated into the game and we couuld be allowed to input the setup information within the guild interface.
- ability to set times for consumables to auto-activate so it doesn’t rely on a guild officer being online to make it happen
- ability to see all characters within a guild. Only seeing the currently played/last played character on an account makes it hard to establish how many of what character level we have when attempting to plan events.
